This book celebrates the Rocky Horror Picture like only Sal Piro can. This book is great! As a Rocky virgin ( :( Yeah I know... how do I live?) this book lets you right into the world of Rocky Horror. It has an incredible group of pictures. Most of them are black and white but some are in full colour. This book lets you have the ultimate Rocky Horror experience, especially for those of us who haven't seen the show. It's like a glimspe into the Rocky cast and show. This book is not being printed anymore unfortunately but if you can find a copy buy it! It is the greatest book and a must for any Rocky Fan.

No need to wait for midnight with this "RHPS" photo novel

Edited and adapted by Richard J. Anobile from the screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien, "The Official 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Movie Novel" allowed fans of the legendary midnight movie to give themselves over to absolute pleasure during the rest of the week in addition to playing the soundtrack album over and over again. In those dark days before videotape and DVD this movie novel was the best way of learning the script and figuring out new things to add to the audience participation element of the midnight madness.

Anobile was one of the pioneers in the use of the frame blow-up technique to re-create entire films in book form. I still have my copy of "Why a Duck?" which is how my best friend and I learned the best Marx Brothers routines when we were in high school and devout Marxists. Anobile also did movie novels for "Animal Crackers," "Mork and Mindy," "Battlestar Galactica," and "Alien." He does a good job of using photos and text to capture the rhythm and insanity of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." For example, when we get to "Dammit Janet," he groups pictures of Brad and Janet around one of Magenta and Riff Raff as the "American Gothic" couple so that their counterpoint of "Janet" to his lyrics is laid out appropriately.

You can tell song lyrics apart from the dialogue because everything that gets sung appears in boldface. The dialogue is presented in novel form so that characters are exclaiming, answering, agreeing and the like and you can always tell who is saying what (and how). I should also underscore that Anobile plays with the picture frames as well, so that they are not always rectangles: squares, circles, and other shapes are used as well. They are also sound effects added in the campy tradition of "Batman" the television series. This is a campy way of presenting a movie, but remember that this was all we had a quarter-century ago and that this was an extremely campy movie in the first place.

An introduction is provided by Sal Piro, President of The National "Rocky Horror Picture Show" Fan Club," which celebrates the fact that for the first time in cinematic history audiences had taken over a film: talking back to the screen, wearing makeup and dressing like the characters, and showing up with props to participate and parallel the film's actions (I never dressed up, but I did bring a bell for when Frank is chasing Janet after dinner is cut short ("What? Meatloaf again?"). So one of the downsides here is that none of the audience participation elements are part of this book, but then that is not the point and there are other books (and audio presentations) that take care of that slight omission.

The one and only Rocky Horror Photo Book

I bought this book through the German distributor and was a bit apprehensive at first, but this is totally fantastic! Not only are the photographs really excellent, but also the design goes with the character of Rocky Horror perfectly. The whole cast is captured in all their glory, and there are revealing backstage shots - Tim Curry without make-up, parties, etc. Apparently, Mick Rock was the only photographer allowed on the set at all times.

This is a collector's item for every fan of Rocky Horror. I look at mine all the time. It was well worth the price.

This is the original RHPS book from 1979 by Bill Henkin.

It has Color photos as well as B/W. it features the story behind the making of the film as well as how they started to market it after the film bombed on original release. Plus: Song lyrics, liner notes, scrapbook type set photo collage, and some dialogue.

This title says Hardcover but it was never produced in Hardcover only in papaerback. It's about 8x11 size and has full page photos.

This book has at least two pressings that I know of the last pressing was in 1991 and has now been out of print.

Please pick up a copy today. Makes a great coffee table book.

This is a great book. It tells or shows a lot of information on the movie and the play. It gives you some of the script, some of the words to the songs, and among other things. This is a fabulous book, well, if you like The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I really enjoyed flipping through this book. (Well, of course, I enjoy anything about Rocky Horror.) The pictures in this book are outstanding. I enjoyed the photographs of all the different casts from the US and throughout the rest of the world. Some of the information got a bit tedious, but overall it was a wonderful volume.

When I first saw the movie, I had to buy it, then I wanted to have more laughter, so I bought the book. The book is way funny. Of course Tim Curry, in the movie, is an enjoyment to listen to, so you don't get crack-me-up on the floor laughter, you get a surprise laughter. BUY THIS BOOK!!!

EXCELLENT BOOK!!!

Very interesting and insightful book about the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW cult following in the 90s. Written by the founder and president of the Rocky Horror Fan Club, Sal Piro. It's a must for all Rocky-goers and Rocky-lovers.
