This was my second Lisa Marie Rice book and I loved it. Jack is one of those male characters that makes your heart flutter. Caroline is an insecure woman who needs love but is fearful at times of opening herself up to a relationship with a man. The two come together and what a romantic love story. Jack never gives up trying to win Caroline, he has loved her for years.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance read.

Seeing his Caroline, the love of his life, kissing another man through a frosty window so long ago made Jack Prescott what he is today; a highly trained, secret ops soldier who can kill with his fingers. Tired of the grueling and dangerous aspects of his occupation, Jack plans to begin a new chapter in his life; a new life in which he hopes to make Caroline a part. Now, Jack has returned to the town where Caroline used to live with the hope of discovering information on her whereabouts. Jack is taken aback to find that she still resides there. Expecting Caroline to be married, Jack is again surprised to learn she has remained single. Now all he has to do is get close enough to her. And he will. He has a plan. A plan that he has spent the last twelve years thinking about since that fateful night in the freezing snow when his world was shattered like breaking glass.
Caroline Lake 's life has changed dramatically in the last twelve years. With the death of her parents, she became solely in charge of her younger brother who was horribly hurt in the same accident which claimed her parent's lives. While Caroline grew up privileged, the money only lasted for so long, and with her brother's medical bills piling up, Caroline found herself slipping into genteel poverty. Now, since the death of her brother and her declining finances, Caroline doesn't know what she is going to do.
At her bookstore late Christmas Eve, Caroline is almost ready to throw in the towel; that is, until a large, dangerous-looking man comes in looking for a place to stay. While Caroline knows she should be cautious of Jack Prescott, she can't help but trust him. He is everything she has ever envisioned in a man, and for once she is going to follow her intuition. Unable and unwilling to be alone on Christmas Eve, Caroline voices what is in her heart. When Jack takes her up on her enticing offer, Caroline has a feeling that this DANGEROUS LOVER is exactly what she needs.
With danger now behind him, Jack is ready to claim the woman he has loved for so long. Or so he thought. Danger, it seems, has found him once again.
I have been a fan of Lisa Marie Rice's work since her Ellora's Cave publications. Having read everything she has written I knew I was in for a great book. What I got was an outstanding read with sinfully delicious and realistic characters, an intriguing plot, and sensuality that was hot enough to singe my fingers as I turned the pages. Jack Prescott had watched and loved Caroline for so very long and he was the epitome of a protector and a man in love. Because of what was in his possession, Jack knew that he would need to protect Caroline at the first sign of trouble. I quickly became enthralled at the way the characters interacted and how perfect they were for each other. Danger came in the form of a previous nemesis, and while I knew he would have to somehow find Jack and Caroline, it made the suspense no less valid for me. Immersed in this tale, I read DANGEROUS LOVER cover to cover.
Fans of Lisa Marie Rice will adore this sensual and emotional tale. Her writing style, her captivating love scenes, and the suspense that I have come to crave in a Lisa Marie Rice novel is all here within the pages of DANGEROUS LOVER. I highly recommend running, not walking, to the nearest bookstore as soon as this book is released. You will be glad you did.

What a great book! Our baby son just loved this book from about 3 months of age. Bright, colourful and simple pictures on each page that really catch the eye. Simple and easy to read text, and a tab to move on each page that makes Desmond the Dog come to life in some way. What a shame it is out of print. We lost ours in a move and are trying to get hold of another - that's how good a book it is!

This is a wonderful story about a mischievous dog named Desmond and the things he gets up to in a day's play.
The pictures are simple, big, bright, colourful - very eye-catching and fun for kids. Our son loved to look at this book from 3 months of age, and it is still one of his favourites at 17 months.
Every page has a pull tab that makes Desmond come to life in some way. You'll just need to be careful with little hands trying to pull at the tabs and moving parts!
A great book for babies thru toddlers!

I read Diary of a Wimpy Kid for my class book report. It was hilarious. I really liked how Greg Heffley was friends with Rowley, who was sort of a nerd. Greg didn't have a lot of friends but he was a good friend to Rowley. My favorite part was when their school had a comics contest to see which student could draw the best comic. Greg won but then the school math teacher changed his comic and made it awkward and about math. The pictures were an important part of the book because it was a diary and Greg drew pictures about what he did. I learned that keeping a diary a secret can be dangerous, in case somebody looks at it. I would change some of the words in the book that my mom said are bad and used better words.

This is one of the funniest books I've read in years! The main character is on the verge of losing his marriage due to hiding expensive purchases from his wife and he puts all his efforts into an eBay sale gone bad! Ha! Clearly this story could only be told in a brilliant work of fiction like this one. Nobody would believe it could be true.

The book takes you on one mans journey to seek justice over a eBay seller gone bad. Allows you to go step by step as to his actions and thoughts. Along with some humor and a very sage wife guiding him with her words of wisdom. You will see yourself in his writing when you found something perfect, paid for it and waited in anticipation for it's arrival. Then the realization nothing was going to arrive and you are on your own to retrieve any monetary recompense. The book is invaluable for anyone who finds themselves in the same position of fraud and wonders where to turn to next. With fortitude and overcoming many road blocks, this author found justice. It is certainly a cautionary tale. The protection you think you have with PayPal and eBay is not what you think. Don't get mad, be methodical and don't give up is this authors message.

I found this little book very interesting and helpful. Being a victim of ebay fraud myself, I understand the feelings of helplessness when you realize that you have been scammed and can't get any help from ebay or paypal who claim their site is
safe to buy and sell on. Glad to see that someone at least went to great lengths to try to get some justice. Ebay needs to make some serious changes or they are going to lose a lot of their honest users.

My daughter (now 6, we got them when she 5 and just starting to read) loves these quirky, delightful books. She enjoyed Bob's books, but soon tired of them and it was difficult to get her to practice. She thoroughly enjoys these and will read them over and over again. They are basic and offer picture hints, yet include some blends to make it enough of a challenge for her. I would definitely suggest this set.

Love LOVE LOVE these books! My daughter (2 1/2) has learned, truly, to read the word OTTO- there is a book in this set dedicated to teaching how to read that name ("Otto and the Missing O"), and it's brilliant- the crucial first step in reading- understanding that LETTERS MAKE SOUNDS AND FORM WORDS. She gets it! I'm amazed.
My daughter loves these funny, simple stories and has, in fact, memorized them. So she "reads" them along with me. The books are excellent for a preschooler- or even younger children (under 2) because they're simple enough, yet they help teach basic concepts like colors and counting. The Dogsharks themselves (you guessed it, half dog, half shark) are really cute and funny and kinda mischievious, and she can read their adventures over and over without ever getting bored.
This set of books is wonderful- SO much more colorful and entertaining than See Dick Run.
This is one of the best educational purchases I've made for my daughter. I HIGHLY recommend this set.

Yes, they are strange, these floating dogsharks. But they're also charming, obviously created by an author/illustrator who knows what kids like, and great practice for new readers. My son gets a big kick out of reading them to me at bedtime. The vocabulary and stories are accessible to their audience without being trite or too simplistic. Our favorite is Buck, with his mysterious, disappearing donuts.

The scene is set with an "Oldwife" (healer and almost-priestess) attending the birth of a daughter to Srill, an unmarried mother in a small village of Ve. An Oldwife is present at the birth of every child, to divine destiny and record it in a personal tapestry, which is a passport to acceptance. Those without one, we are told, are considered 'soulless' and are outcasts from society.
When Srill dies immediately after giving birth to the child (Marwen), for whom the Oldwife has forseen a dire future, & Oldwife adopts Marwen, out of affection for her mother & raises Marwen to know of her gifts & magic, as apprentice.
Because the tapestry was so dire, it has been hidden from Marwen
and she has been ostracized by the villagers of Marmawell as soulless.
(I know! Names ?!)
In her desire to prove herself, Marwen makes some horrifying mistakes, forcing her to start on her adventures. As she travels she is faced with choices at every step, until eventually she must confront her destiny, and vanquish the dragon threatening the realm of Ve.
Essentially a story of self-discovery, and latterly a tender love story, The Dragon's Tapestry is decorated with some very fine creatures and well conceived worlds. One of the most fascinating creatures are the "wingwand's" who seem to be some sort of butterfly/dragonfly amalgam, and are used for travelling - flying, rather. They are exquisitely described, and fascinating to imagine.
I was very impressed with the thought, and detail put into this (single volume I thought, and now know it is a trilogy) tale. It is certainly a better realised plot & world than most small (the book is only 183odd pages, paperback) YA fantasy novels.
Eagerly anticipating the other books, where we should see more of the romance, and certainly more of strong minded Marwen.

Visionary Mohawk medicine woman, Ohky Simine Forest's first book is a comprehensive and poetic reporting of long misunderstood ways of the Red Lodge of indigenous peoples. Had Europeans come to this continent as gracious guests, these are mysteries of the matriarchal Mohawk society that could have been shared with them. Herself an initiate in Mohawk, Mayan and Mongolian shamanism, Forest reveals the spiritual matrix which these cultures share and embeds it in a contemporary, real world political urgency. Synthesizing these core spiritual beliefs and practices, Forest offers compelling evidence that the view from the Red Lodge is what the world requires for individual and collective restoration to well being. The Red Lodge ways also provide, in the Medicine Wheel, an earth-derived map to self-governance that modern people are questing for in many guises. She teaches that the Medicine Wheel equips us to relate to planet and self in ways that are nearly inseparable, self-supporting and without which no sane system for enduring societal governance can arise. How do we build, nurture and sustain community? The matriarchs of the Mohawk have been doing it since antiquity and through perils most of us will never face. Forest, a Mohawk matriarch with a vision lives among the Maya people with this community building governance backed by the spiritual backbone of shamanism. Forest has little patience with hit and run shamanic wannabes and the extraction of "techniques" from their cultural matrix which leads, she observes, to further soul and societal illness. In this book she reveals with surprising candor, depth, and her characteristic humor, the world into which the shaman walks with expanding perception and deepening experience. It's no cake walk and Forest's book is unflinching in its descriptions of the challenges and dangers of this work. For instance, trotting out a Power Animal "technique" or forming a relationship with the incorrect Power Animal can have debilitating effects on personal energy and health. It is a sacred relationship born of the waters of the Red Lodge, she cautions, not a one size fits all concept that can be extracted safely from its matrix and doled out casually in workshops. Forest both describes and elucidates the interwoven meanings of the Medicine Wheel, dream body work, lucid dreaming. power animal allies, earth burial ceremony, vision questing, journeying in the nine Mayan underworlds and the thirteen Mayan upperworlds as well as giving a comprehensive recounting of native prophecies and their considerable energetic, economic and political significance for our modern times. This is a text to which those who study or practice shamanic work will refer again and again.

This book is one of the most serious, dense, and challenging of its kind in a genre saturated with slim, superficial volumes. The wisdom is clearly ancient and rich, and is carefully measured out for the reader. The teachings are not easily absorbed (by this North American, at least), but are excellent if you are looking for a deeper, truer understanding of shamanic traditions. Highly recommended.
A beautiful, complex work of synthesis and rebirth.

Dreaming The Council Ways is a beautiful, complex work of synthesis and rebirth. Author Ohky Simine Forest weaves together spiritual training disciplines and practices from several cultures, including Mohawk, Mayan, Mongolian, and others. An added feature is her beautiful fold-out full color art work on several points of teaching. These are truly lovely, deserving extra attention. Forest patiently and warmly encourages the reader to respectfully explore beginning from their own racial perspective(s) and not to expect quick fix New Age short cuts or other cultural appropriation practices to yield valid, lasting insight or growth. Material on matriarchal traditions will interest students of feminine perspectives. Forest is not a comfortable read. That is not her way or her goal. She opens and hopes for a deeper spiritual connection with the reader, sharing information on dreaming, medicine wheel practices, interpreting power animal guides, and vision quests. She seeks the larger view, the convergence of spiritual paths. She challenges and teaches, reflecting the responsibility to heal back to each individual (where it belongs). As with all worthwhile experiences, more will be gained from giving more. That also applies to reading and understanding her book. Dreaming the Council Ways is accessible to nonNative readers, but it will yield more to the better, more thoughtful effort to understand with respect.

Dump Dog is a charming children's picturebook starring a most unlikely hero. Rags is stray dog who makes his home in the town dump; no one thinks much of him. But when a terrifying monster threatens the town, only the wiry little mixed-breed pooch knows what to do! Giving up his most prized possession to save everyone, Rags proves that heroes can arise in the least likely of places. A heartwarming story especially recommended for young dog lovers.

Garvin Morris clearly knows dogs. In his nicely drawn illustrations in this book he captures expressions and body language that any dog owner will recognize.
The pictures are wonderfully detailed. There is a lot for kids (and parents reading to kids) to look at and point to here. And its a good story that will make readers smile.

Our grandchildren just love this book. It has provided them with alot of imagination and inspiration. Also it gives the reader the idea of the "recycling" evolution.

That said this story takes place on Christmas Eve. A woman who is beautiful inside and out has a room to rent in her large rambling but falling apart home. The heat doesn't work most of the time and the power can go off at the drop of a hat. She needs to rent it badly to pay her debts on time and not lose the house. She incurred the debts paying for her younger brother's medical care after he survived the accident that killed her parents but left him with severe medical problems. He past away last year and she is now all alone.
She is sitting in her book store thinking about her problems when through the door in the middle of a snow storm comes a very mysterious but good looking man who wants to rent her room. She doesn't know it but she knew him years ago as a homeless boy with a different name that she was kind to. She rents him the room and sparks fly.
The homeless boy is now a very wealthy man who has never forgotten her, his first and only love. An evil man is looking for him and has figured out where he is.
Will she trust her heart and take a leap of faith with him or will she listen to those who tell her he is a murderer and a thief?
This book is definitely worth buying and if you have not previously read her other books I strongly recommend that you do, starting with "Midnight Man."
