Spanish for Mastery II provides you with excellent Spanish daily-life situation to get into the use of the language in a very easy way for either a stundent learning in class or anyone who wants to acquire idiomatic knowledges in self-study. As an exchange stundent from Germany I think, in contrast to other study materials, this is a rather vivid study material in combination with the tools like the S. for M. II workbook. The grammatical part is in my opinion placed well to the student's progress of learning making the student build up a good tight knowledge to apply. Nevertheless, it is required to work with the book regularly. Also, the books provides the student with important cultural aspects and historical information.

I don't know where in the world Ms. York gets her ideas, but her hero's problem in this one is a really unique winner. I don't want to give away the plot, but (especially as a cat lover) I was surprised and delighted by her hero's imaginative "affliction". She manages to keep this one almost as un-put-down-able as her werewolf books, even though she has less room here to develop the story and characters. If you like her werewolf books, you definitely need to give this one a try!

The story of wealth and poverty, and how a little ingenuity will cause fate to turn on all. There is a rich, prideful man- who finally gets what he deserves when his less fortunate neighbors teach him what becomes of a man who is never content, yet always wanting more. The rich man tries to prove that no one is as wealthy as he, because he can use a different spoon for every bite he eats! This is a classic book on being content with what you have, and seeking for beauty in what surrounds you.
A Spoon For Every Bite is a completely bilingual gem of a book. You do not have to be bilingual to enjoy it though because on one page it is in Spanish, on the next English, so if you speak just one, you would have no problem with this book at all...but if you are bilingual this is an added bonus!! The story line would be captivating on its own, but the artwork is so incredible, that you will want to read it again and again. The faces shine with life, the gestures are so real and beautiful. The wink at eachother, or smile with pride and the whole while you can tell exactly what the illustrator has intended. It is astonishing to little and big readers alike! Beautiful, this book is too stunning to pass up!

"Spring's Promise" contains four short inspirational romance stories. Gloria Brandt's "E-Love" combines love and the Internet. "The Garden Plot" by Rebecca Germany deals with gardens and relationships. Tracie's Peterson's "Stormy Weather" bursts with not only lightening but also with electricity. "Bride to Be" by Debra White Smith takes the reader down the aisle with the question of Mr. Right. All four stories take place during the season of Spring. You will not be disappointed with this book. I have read and re-read all stories over and over. All stories embrace Christian faith, love and marriage, but without losing the romance of the stories. If you like this book, you will also enjoy "Spring's Memory"; it also contains four inspirational romances. I highly recommend this book!

A fool and his money are soon parted. Personally, I like the objective, arms-length approach and also preferred not to get into his head. The fortune he spent actually went to people much better able to invest wisely and help those masses not born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

The ton as it truly was.......
From The Back of the book:
Lovely Sonia Goldfine lived a quiet life with her Uncle Meyer, making beautiful jewelry for the ladies of high society. Because she was Jewish, however, she was not a member of that group.
Then, quite suddenly, the handsome and dashing Alastair Charlton, the Marquess of Fairley, asked for her hand in marriage. She accepted eagerly, not knowing it was her money he was after.
Then Sonia finally found out the truth about her marriage and she was shocked. So when she was asked to perform a service for her country, she readily agreed. Her wedding vows would wait. She'd worry about true love when she returned....if she returned.
My review:
This is one of my top 25 Regencies. This is not a easy book to read as it deals with difficult subjects such as Antisemitism, being married under false pretenses, and mistress keeping. While not pleasant subjects, activities that nonetheless were prevalent in Regency times. Unlike most Regencies I've read, these subjects were covered realistically to the period.
Sonia was a wonderful character-very sweet, but strong as well. Alistair's portrayal was true to form and refreshing in what happens when a titled man, in debt to the point of ruin, must marry for money.
For a relatively short book (250 pages), this novels spans two years time and has lots of drama and romance-real romance-the kinds that grows over time as a couple learns to love each other. The hero and heroine do have their flaws-but I found that refreshing and more realistic that most Regencies "too perfect" lead characters.
There is several "intimate" scenes in this book-more than you'd find in other Regencies, but apropos as the leads are married.
As an aside-for those who do not know, Rebecca Danton was a pseudonym for well known write Janet Louise Roberts-who also wrote under the names Janet Radcliffe and Louisa Bronte.
A harrowing, unique and realistic portrayal of a Regency marriage of convenience. 5 stars.

The characters really pull you into this book They're so real...you get to know them and their quirks quickly. Rebecca Schwartz is a self-described "Jewish feminist lawyer" who becomes involved in a legal tangle over a top-secret sourdough starter sample. The tangle turns into murder, and Rebecca, her law partner, and her investigative reporter boyfriend are up to their necks in the action.
A good mystery with great characters...you almost hate to see it end! Fortunately, Julie Smith has penned a few other Rebecca Schwartz mysteries that are good reads, also. I just wish she'd write more!
