I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me laugh and cry. The characters are believable as well as the story line. I was able to emerge myself into the story. Am looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

#2 OF THE PEREGRIN CONNECTION -- MOST EXCELLENT

this is a reprint of the 1986 Peregrine Connection - Flight of the Raven -- Wow! what a set of books. Definitely a must have.
Aleksei Rozonov is a KGB spy and has eluded capture for years. He is working in Spain under Gereral Bogolubov in the Russian Embassy.
He narrowly escaped an explosion in the Taverna San Jeronimo were he was meeting Dan Eisenberg.
He was in trouble as his connections were cut off.
Julie McLean was working in the American Embassy and heard about her close friend Dan being one of the persons killed in the explosion.
She was called to go to Dan's apartment where she found his appointment book with a number of days marked with an R on a few of the pages.
She also found a ticket to a Spanish play she wanted to see. Well that led to all of her troubles.
There she sees the Russian, Aleksei Rozonov and knows that he was a hunter and she was his prey. Slowly she is drawn into an intrigue that she is not equiped to handle. Can she trust this Russian or prove him to be a dangerous spy. She has to do this for Dan.
Aleksei knows that he can't trust anyone and he must get the Topaz report out to certain people and if he has to use Julie he will. Even to seducing her.
Julie is not unfamiliar with men but none had ever raised the kind of emotions in her that she felt with Aleksei.
There were many working against her that she wasn't even aware of.
And the Russian General called in the KGB's secret weapon, Yuri Hramov, a man who enjoyed killing.
This story brings on pulse-pounding tension, dangerous rescues, a bit of pain, and looking for means of escape.
The Falcon was desperately trying to find a way to help the Raven and get his report. He needed the proof for the people at the Pentegon.
Yuri was determined to kill the Raven who had humiliated him.
Great group of characters, action packed plot, and we meet Mark Bradley again. For all their messing aroung [g> making love?] Julie doesn't get pregnant yet. what a waste of time!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M - these 3 books are definitely keepers.

I just finished reading "A Florida Pioneer", and want to congratulate the author on a superb work!
When I first heard about this book, I thought it might just be another uninteresting and boring personal history. I was very surprised and happy to experience that it was just the opposite - a fascinating insight into a Swedish immigrant experience in adapting to a new life in the USA in the 1800s . And that it took place in Florida, instead of Minnesota, added extra color to it.
But, more than that, the deep personal insights into the events in Josef's life and his relation to them was fascinating reading. It was given an extra twist by his very special relationship to Knut, a somewhat mysterious friend in Sweden he kept communication with during his life. Josef had a very strong feeling for this friend Knut, which seemingly had no obvious basis in their life. I eventually got the feeling that the only clarification for this is that they might have had a strong relationship in a previous life - this was emphasized by Josef's description of his very strong experience when he first met Knut and made him his life-long friend.
Rebecca Weiss' text commentary was crucial in placing Josef's letters into a context that became alive. She was able to tie the threads together in a very simple, yet effective way, without "intruding" into Josef's letters - letting them speak directly.
Josef's final commentary at the end is so revealing and touching!
After reading all about all his exploits, adventures, and monetary problems, it provided a wonderful insight into his deepest thoughts.
Congratulations to the author.
What at first, seemed to be a simple and uneventful history, became a gripping story and lead one into a powerful experience of Josef and his new life in America.

Very informative and fun to read introduction to the many kinds of flowering plants. The photographs and illustrations are excellent--much better than those in many children's science books. Some topics covered are plant parts, (simple explanation of) photosynthesis, pollination, life cycle, and unusual flowers. The book design is colorful and key facts are noted in review type boxes. There are also "you can do it..." boxes. There are many resources listed for further study, an index, and a glossary. Karen Woodworth Roman, Children's Science Book Review

Forbidden Desires is the most sensual book I've ever read. Even a pregnant heroine didn't detract. By sensual, I'm not talking about an abundance of love scenes--although it does have some. This author can pack even the most innocuous things with sensuality. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have it in a permanent place on my keeper shelf. It was hot!

The best book for a beginner cook and great for others, too!

I love this book! This book was given as a gift to me by my husband's grandmother, Dolly. The book was put together by her cousin, Selma Wight Beard. As Dolly states in her inscription, 'Selma's mother, Rebecca Stewart Wight, included the recipes in letters she wrote to her daughter after Selma became a war bride in the early forties and moved away from home with her Marine aviator husband. After Rebecca died in 1977, Selma found the letters, which she had saved, and decided to put them together in this book.'
I started reading a little and soon found myself engrossed in the story of Selma and Dick. This is a great story book as well as a cookbook. As a new bride myself (and not much of a cook), I fully appreciate the cooking instructions from the basics of frying an egg to gourmet holiday meals. There are also lessons on how to be a gracious hostess and a good wife. Although some of the advice may seem old-fashioned, I'm sure it would do wonders on many marriages today.
This book is great for everyone and an especially nice gift for a new bride. It provides detailed instructions on old-fashioned Southern cooking and great advice on how to be a better person.

Five Stars for Mothers

I am the author of this book, which is written to honor and to edify mothers regarding their true worth. While feminists disavow the essentiality of motherhood, I see motherhood as the sum and substance of human reality. My book draws from academic studies, from science and math to women's studies, but regardless of the amount of formal schooling one has endured, any mother will easily relate to my message, which couldn't be more lucid: motherhood is It, what every religion idealizes but oddly enough in the form of fatherhood. I make clear how this switcheroo has come to pass, and suggest how mothers might now reevaluate what they're doing and still adore their men folk. I especially recommend the essays on Romance, Consciousness, and The Madonna.

An absolute "must-have" for modern public library collections

Review Date: 2008-02-06
Part of the "Global Issues" series by Facts on File, Fundamentalism is a comprehensive resource accessible to readers of all background concerning the nature of fundamentalism and fundamentalist religions worldwide. Seeking to authoritatively define fundamentalism and what precisely constitutes a fundamentalist group, Fundamentalism discusses various efforts to categorize fundamentalist groups, and offers an evenhanded appraisal of the disagreements concerning how prone various fundamentalist groups are to violence. Greater focus is placed upon fundamentalist movements in the United States and four other regions: Europe (ultratraditional Roman Catholicism), Israel (fundamentalist Judaism), the Middle East (the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas), and India (fundamentalist Hinduism). Meticulously researched and presented, Fundamentalism is highly recommended for general readers seeking to enlighten themselves about a commonly misused term, an absolute "must-have" for modern public library collections. "The immediate cause of the split between the [Protestant] evangelicals and the fundamentalists was Graham's decision in 1955 to accept the sponsorship of the New York City Council of Churches for his crusade in the city, scheduled for 1957. The separatist fundamentalists regarded Graham's openness to mainline Protestants as the first step toward modernism, and they withdrew their support of his crusades. Both sides agree that the split has not healed as of the early 2000s."
