This is an absolutely fantastic book! Rebecca Harrison peels back the layers of mystery from the Mosaic books of the Bible. Subjects discussed include the validity of the Monotheistic view, church doctrine, UFOs, the Annunaki, and much, much more! If you are familiar with Zechariah Sitchin's works, you will love this book!

This has become one of my favorite books on birds. It is packed with very interesting information. You are guaranteed to learn something new! I bought this book for myself, but whenever I picked it up my children wanted me to read it to them also. The illustrations are wonderful! I have always enjoyed Rebecca Rupp's easy delivery of so much useful information in such an understandable, relaxed, and often humorous fashion. Before I had even read halfway through the book, I ordered my mom-in-law (a fellow bird-lover) a copy for herself. It is a quick, easy read. You'll probably finish the book before you want it to be over. I am thrilled to have added this book to my collection and would highly recommend it for just about anyone interested in birds or learning new things.

I am a high school student who uses this book, and I believe this is a great book. Students learn simple phrases and expressions, and later on they learn to conjugate verbs and Spanish grammar. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn Spanish.

Conservative view, but not only for religious people...

I read this book for a class my junior year of high school, but after the end of the semester when I could have thrown the book away, I kept it and read the chapters/readings that were never assigned in class. It's divided into sections that really deal with modern times, such as "Do You Really Expect Me to Believe In Miracles?" and "Why Should I Believe In a Religion Invented for Weak People?" and each section has 3-7 or so readings discussing the issue. Some are from magazines, some are Q&A types that look like Dear Abby submissions.
Ultimately, the book's conservative, protestant, Christian Reformed view of the world is heavily emphasized, but I believe this book is a step above similar books I've read over the years. It isn't just for believers, it's also for those unsure, and even those adamantly against religion. It doesn't claim to have all the answers of be the "only way."

The author really brings these women to life in 9 short biographies using interesting details and anecdotes from good primary sources. She also discusses some of the women's less admirable qualities which presents the reader with a more complete picture of each woman's life. The pictures and photographs are wonderful too. A great source for reports and school projects, but also truly inspirational.

Pentecostalism is exploding all across Latin America. In just a few decades, the number of evangélico believers has grown from a few hundred to over 50 million. The personal transformation experienced through conversion to this faith is radical and all-encompassing. Such is the change that if the tremendous rate of conversion continues, the "fe evangélica" has the potential to greatly influence the course of all of Latin America in the next century. In a continent where at one time to be a Catholic was to legally exist, one in seven is now evangélico. WHY? Why is the movement so strong? Why does it elicit such zeal and devotion from the believers? Social scientists and scholars of religion have rushed to gather records and statistics, to carry out field work and publish theories that explain the movement's extraordinary success among the lower class of Latin America. By and large, however, the conclusions in these studies are based on the outsider's perspective. Researchers are forced to maintain a certain distance from the evangelicals, due to the believers' constant pressure to convert them and the sub-standard living conditions of Latin America's lower class that discourage "live-in" research. Therefore, a movement based on the passions of a individual's heart and soul has largely been described in macro-structural terms that are removed from the believers' personal devotion in their ongoing struggle to survive. Faith in the Barrios was written from the believers' perspective. In '95 and '96 I lived in a shantytown on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia, sharing the struggles of life with the residents of the shantytown. As a believer, I gained immediate and intimate access to the evangélicos' lives and was able to study the movement through the lens of their toilsome existence. Throughout the book, you will find the believers' own words, expressing their faith and its central role in their daily life. Although the book is academic, and not a simple narrative, it is clearly written and carefully organized. Esteemed scholars and high-school students alike will find it to be an unveiled, intimate portrayal of an extraordinary religious movement in a land of passion, violence, beauty, and strife. I encourage you to read it, and welcome your questions and comments! Rebecca Pierce Bomann

If anyone is looking for a fabulous book read, I would suggest Falcon's Return. I fell in love with the character of Marshall and Brooke. Ms. O'Conner left me wishing that I could jump into the book and meet these characters. It was touching and you not only felt when they experienced sadness but when they were elated with joy. From the first page to the last, I didn't want to put the book down. Even the birds made the whole story a must read. I find myself still thinking of the characters even days after reading this fantastic book. I give it a five stars and two thumbs up. Believe me, read it, you will enjoy it.

Since my family is featured in this book, I was especially attentive to content, photos and accompanying captions. My Great-Aunt Margaret Ray was a significant contributor in the book production, working tirelessly in collecting images to provide the researchers with a sensitive view, keeping in mind all the families who have made my home town such a beautiful place to grow up in. Seeing personal family collection photos in this book is very gratifying."Images of America-Fallbrook" is a work of love and respect which the authors accurately portrayed. Thank you so much for publishing and providing this beautiful work for the public.

Another "Fotygraft Album" Shown to the New Preacher by Rebecca Sparks Peters, Aged Eleven.
Rebecca is alone when the preacher shows up and to entertain him she gets out the family album and shows him mock pictures of family pictures with text telling who they are. It's hilarious. Pictures are on one page and are similiar to the one on front cover. Left side is text.
Example:
"That's Mary Jane Pemble. She ust t' be Gramma Spark's hired girl. One time she got t' correspondin' weth a man through a matter-mon'al agency and by-m-by she agrees t' marry th' feller wethout never seein' him, th' silly thin! Well, when th' wedding day come Mary was t' th' deepo t' meet him, and jist as he steps off'm th' train he drops dead uh heart disease. Mary, she took one look at him and says, 'Thank God!' she says, and come right back home and burned up her weddin' dress in th' kitchen stove.
"Pa say what ailed th' feller was th' shock when he seen Mary."
I thought Mary (in her picture) looked like a normal miss until I saw the big pout on her mouth. This book is hilarious.
There's a few frames in back to draw in your own family if you like.
