R.S. Christie exposes a complicated network of interdependencies, relationships and problems in a seemingly narrow area of government. Yet, this work can be used as a model for anyone interested in the old "Where does the money go to?" question in the area of Government Science. Christie's writing is fluent and crystal-clear and she clearly has a good grasp of the inner workings of the Austin government. The US has long been debating issue regarding public spending in the area of Health Care. This work is an example of how some basic problems can be unlocked. I'd call it "A Barefoot Model for Problems in Government Spending". We usually talk of "taxpayers' money" - and this scientific work does an important service to those of us who wonder why red tape does seem to get worse every year. Highly specialized, yes, but recommended without doubt.

From the back cover:
At Christmastime, Love blooms Under the Mistletoe
"One Little Miracle" by Shannon Drake
En route to an unwanted wedding across the sea, a noble French beauty's fervent prayer for a Christmas miracle is answered--when she is abducted by a bold and breathtakingly virile pirate.
"Gifts of the Heart" by Judith E. French
A distraught Tidewater wife facing the devastating prospect of a Christmas alone is strengthened by romantic remembrances of Yultides past--and by an impossible dream of a family reunited.
"Love's Gift" by Sara Orwig
The marriage of a sassy, gun-toting tomboy to the handsome reluctant son of a neighboring rancher gets off to a riotously rocky start--until the gifts they exchange at Christmas help to bring about a passionate reconciliation.
"One Enchanted Christmas" by Rebecca Paisley
During an icy New England Christmas, a lovely and mysterious woman in white enters the lives of an embittered, reclusive widower and his invalid son--and heals them with love...and magic.
And my review:
Shannon Drake's story was the only one in the book that I didn't like. It started off well, but the whole "I'm going to act like I hate you, yet sleep with you because I just can't help myself" wore very thin. The author showed us reasons as to why we should like the hero, but then were never shown to the heroine. She fell in lust more than in love, so I skipped this one. One star.
Judith E. French's story was my favorite of the book. Set in medieval times, it was a lovely story of reuinted love, which I really enjoyed. Though the high-born lady with the peasant has been done a lot, this story did not feel contrived or stale at all. A definite re-read, highly recommended. Five stars.
Sara Orwig's story was also very enjoyable. My only complaint was that the author made it just a little too easy for blood enemies to marry. Yes, they married out of convenience (at first), but I felt that their fathers seemed to go along with it just a little too easily to be life-long enemies. Still, once I got past that, this was a very enjoyable story, and one I will probably re-read. Four stars.
Rebecca Paisley's story was one with a delightful paranormal twist. If you like stories about enchanted females transforming the lives of embittered men, then you will love this one. And the boy in the story was so sweet it made me smile many times. I liked how refreshingly off-beat the heroine was, even for an etheral creature. Five stars.
With only one story not worth reading, this is one of the best Christmas anthologies out there, and I highly recommend trying to get your hands on it. It's a keeper!

Back cover reads:
"Doens't your job ever make you yearn for a child of your own?"
Rachel Ellis had come to Spain to find her brother and, instead, discovered a tiny niece she hadn't even known existed. Rachel longed for a baby of her own but, since there seemed little chance of her finding Mr. Right, looking after Luisa seemed to be the next best thing.
But little Luisa came equipped with a self-appointed guardian--Vincente de Riano. A man who was husband material by anyone's standards, and Rachel found it all too easy to imagine being married to the charming widower. It was a dangerous dream, for Vincente had turned his back on love and Rachel was too much of a romantic to settle for anything less.
The baby business had always been fraught with hazards. Rachel was used to growing too attached to her small charges--it was her feelings for Vincente she couldn't control!

Sorry I haven't read #1 HIS MAJESTY'S MARRIAGE -
Here we meet Philippe and Kellie Didier and do the problems progress.
Kellie is getting a wonderful meal ready for Philippe on their one month marriage when she gets a call from the hospital. He has been in an accident.
Philippe was being gotten ready for surgery when he had to tell Kellie that a woman was in the hospital with him claiming to be carrying his child. You got it! She is paving her own road to hell with good intentions.
She leaves Philippe in the hopes that he will take care of Yvette and his child. She hurridly returns to the U.S. and her family so that Philippe can be free. Oh Boy!
Many things happen and then Philippe's good friend, Prince Raoul Mertier Bergeret D'Arillac sends his American born wife, Lee to convince Kellie to return to Philippe.
This leads to the balance of the story of how Kellie tries to win back her husband as now he wants the divorce. These are two people who were passionately in love with each other.
Kellie wants her husband back. He no longer has any feelings for her or anything else. He feels betrayed.
This is wonderful magic that is wrought between husband and wife who greatly misunderstand each other. This is truly an affair of the heart.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- I recommend that you add these two books to you keeper shelf.

Third book in the 'Three Brides & A Baby' Series by Trisha Alexander which is made up of these four titles: A Bride for Luke; A Bride for John; A Baby for Rebecca; and Stop the Wedding!
I liked this book - found myself smiling as I read it! The premise behind the story seemed a bit far-fetched to me but the relationship between Rebecca and Kyle was believable and well written. The ending was a bit abrupt for my tastes, but you definitely won't regret spending the time to read this one!
Description from the book back cover:
Promise her anything, but ... Rebecca Taylor saved Kyle MacNeill's life - and fell deeply, secretly in love with the sexy scoundrel. Alas, to Kyle, Rebecca remained the prim, ladylike saviour he'd vowed to repay. He'd promised her the world. But what would he think of her scandalous wish to bear his child? Dare Rebecca make her shocking proposition? Ask Kyle to give her a baby - no strings attached? Deep down, Rebecca was a fiery Texas Taylor. And Rebecca dared ...

This was a delightful story about unrequited love on both the parts of the man and the woman.
Gabe Corbin had been in love with Andrea Bauer since he interviewed her for he job, likewise Andrea fell in love with Gabe in the same interview. But Bret Weyland led Gabe to believe that he and Andrea were living together, because they went out one time, and Bret fell for Andrea.
Gabe decided because he couldn't have Andrea he was going to sale his company and go back home to make peace with his family.
But Andrea had at the same time made up her mind, since she couldn't have Gabe, she would have a hystrectomy because she had endometriosis and if she didn't have a baby within 6 months she would never have a child.
She told Gabe becaues she had to tell him why she was leaving his company.
Gabe now that he knew Andrea wasn't living with Bret, he hoped he would have a chance to make her love him. So he asked Andrea to marry him. She concented, hoping she could make him love her.
Gabe went home, taking his now wife Andrea with him.
Gabe found out because of Andrea that he had not gotten this girl pregnate at the age of 16. When he left home at the age of 16.
Gabe found out that she had was malested by her uncle and she was pregnate. He also found out that his mother had left because of the same woman who tried the get her daughter to claim Gabe was the father of her child, she told Gabe's mom about the loan Gabe's father had got from her father. And broke up their marriage thinking she might have a chance with Gabe's dad once he and his wife were no longer together. But it didn't work out, so she got back at him by making trouble with Gabe and his dad.
Andrea found out and she told Gabe, Gabe told his grandfather, who told his father.
Gabe and Andrea were busy trying to make a baby.
Finally Gabe told Andrea how he felt, and he told Andrea he knew she loved him. She admitted she did and they got married again this time by a priest and that made it right.
Gabe's mom and dad got remarried too.
I also like Jessica Steele, Helen Brooks, Diana Palmer, the late great Essie Summers, and Betty Neels.
