It's a nuts and bolts English class. It's never too late to review no matter how old we become. This is a very pratical book to answer writing questions. These Ph.D's got it right.

Each page gives well grounded advice for how to survive pastoral ministry. Just about everything in this book is true and should be applied right away. This book is as valuable as any seminary class I have ever had, and it takes less than half an hour to read! It is also good reading for people who are thinking about becoming pastors.

I can't say enough about the wisdom within the pages of this book. Buy a copy today!

After hearing Rev. Sanders speak in Dayton, TN this weekend I picked up a copy of his book. I didn't think he could possibly be as good in print as he is in person. I was wrong! It's hard to believe in three hundred sentences he could distill so much practical wisdom for church life, especially for the clergy types like me. I like that the book was written in short, pithy sentences with appropriate humor along the way. Sometimes his humor is sly, sometimes almost slapstick, yet he never let's us think he doesn't take spiritual leadership lightly. He just uses a light touch. As someone who has served the church for over thirty years I reconginze the truth in what he is saying. I just wish I had read this as I was graduating.

Practical, humorous tips for Pastors and Parish alike.

As a parishioner, I enjoyed this book immensely. I ordered it on a whim, wanting to see what the clergy really thought. Along with the humor, comes practical advice to clergy, but also to the congregation. Having the opportunity to see things from the "other side of the pulpit" was interesting, amusing (in this book), and very enlightening. I encourage every parishioner who would like to see how the shoe feels on the other foot to read this book.

How fortunate that Peerless Theodosia has been published again for those of us who missed it twenty years ago. It is a marvelous, funny story with an enchanting cast of characters. Included are the Americans, Theodosia and her brother Jefferson, nervously living in England while the two countries are at war; Lady Southcote, their gracious hostess; her son, Lord Stockwood, suspicious of his mother's guests, and the Marquess of Torville, leader of the ton. Theodosia manages to delight, annoy, and worry these and other characters before at last finding true happiness.

Rebecca Baldwin is one of the best -- and least known -- writers of Regency fiction. Peerless Theodesia is my favorite book of hers. The hero and the heroine are Americans who turn the ton upside down. This is a marvelous book -- many thanks to Regency Press for bringing it back in this reprise edition.

Rebecca Baldwin is one of the best and least known Regency authors, and Peerless Theodosia is one of her most enjoyable romps. Theodosia is completely believable as an unsual Regency heroine -- an American miss with ideas of her own. Of course, Theodosia does find love at the end of this novel

All the characters are individuals who survive their visitors and discover they are better off because they knew the peerless Theodosia.

This reprise novel by Regency Press will delight all Regency readers and should draw many new fans.

Young elementary picture book, although the concept is rather sophisticated for the book style.

This book tells the story of Katie Casey, who played with the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during World War II.

Another Great Historical Fiction Piece From Shana Corey

Shana Corey has crafted another great historical fiction picture book (See YOU FORGOT YOUR SKIRT, AMELIA BLOOMER & MILLIE AND THE MACY'S PARADE). Playful, colorfull illustrations complement a well-paced text (this is a great read-aloud) that delivers a history of the first girl's professional baseball league (see the movie A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN).
Corey's author's note makes this picture book that much more valuable and will allow elementary school teachers to more readily use it with upper grades.
I read it to my 22 6th graders and they loved it!!! The amazing fact that the first line of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" includes the name of a GIRL will surely amaze all readers.
Corey's knack for effectively and poetically crafting text in a picture book is something that older (and younger) elementary-aged students can study for their own ventures into writing.
She provides excellent models (with these historical fiction picture books) for taking history and reshaping it with a fictional slant while preserving the integrity of the historical events.
Wow!!! Buy it and read it to a kid!!!!!

Chapter after chapter left me begging for more and longing to know the promises my Lord has made for me in exchange for the promises I make to Him. What is your inheritance? In Chapter One, simply put, "He longs for our latter days to be greater than our former days. God's plan for you "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." The hightlight for me had to be Chapter Six which included a nine-step process to help you secure your inheritance. It's not easy, it's a committment, and it takes some discipline. But anybody, absolutely everybody can do it and receive what God has intended personally for them since before the beginning of time. Also enlightening was Chapter Four, Glory to Glory. This chapter helped clarify my own experiences in closeting myself quietly in prayer, God's Words which burn into my brain and my heart, and the Holy Spirit, which I pray to work within me that I may lead a more Christian life. It includes quotes from such notables as Rick Joyner, C.S. Lewis, Dutch Sheets, Donald Whitney and my own Pastor, Jack Hayford. It also includes forwards by C. Peter Wagner and Cindy Jacobs. This book will leave you vibrant, radiant and ready to go to work for the success and well-being that is promised to you by the words of Jesus. Be sure to have your Bible beside you because there are many references that you will want to read to help clarify and yes, validate. Many things that Chuck Pierce said sounded too good to be true. But after reading them, then reading the Biblical cross-references, I knew that it must be true! I am a brand new baby Christian and now, not only do I look forward to growing up straight and tall in Christ, but also to grow old with Him and make Him as proud of me as I am to know Him

A painful journey but with victorious results ..

Chuck Pierce's testimony deserves to be heard. Painful as it is, each of Chuck's experience forms a layer of revelation until his personal life becomes a shining pearl before God. The author realized he needs to transfer his experience to other believers. Generously, he has collected his experiences and compiled them into this block-buster book. So this book is actually a treasure chest that is filled with spiritual truth.

Let it be known also that the message written here comes from the mind of an anointed strategist. A strategist is full of feasible plan. Lies within this book is a plan Chuck believes that will enable us to reclaim our lost inheritance. Laced with this plan are comprehensive guidelines and strategies that can be implemented immediately too.

By setting the equilibrium of truth, the message of this book is a wake up call to those who do not understand the full power of their spiritual rights and authority. When believers are not aware of this, they are walking blindly on thin ice ! This is Chuck's attempt to let us be aware of our circumstances and get us right on track.

If one thing I have learned from Chuck's message is that when we live under the clutches of legalism and iniquities, we can still be believers but very much trapped in the cage of humanistic guilt. This is definitely not the pathway to victory.

Upon completing this book, I can conclude that Chuck has weaved his tears and sacrifices over the years into this wonderful gift to us. I can say that this book will not only reinvigorate your faith, it will reinstate those who have lost their strength and faith in life.

I love this book. I read it several years ago and have now began a frantic search to get my hands on the entire series. Forget the other Rebecca, this is the Classic!

I have recently purchased extra copies after an extensive used bookstore seach for my sisters because we "argued" over whose book it was!

I humbly beg the publishers to publish this book again! I have never met a person who read it that did not love it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel - it's a real page turner that gripped me from beginning to end. The story was original, fresh and exciting as you follow the lives of Rebecca North/Wythe and her "husband" Lord Nicholas Wythe in their quest for love and happiness. Rebecca met Nicholas as a child when she found and looked after him in her family's barn when he was injured during the war - even though he was a 'red coat'. Thinking that he was about to die Nicholas married Rebecca so that he could repay her kindness by leaving her his wealth. Of course he doesn't die but vanishes. It is years later when Rebecca has grown up and forgotten about the soldier she saved, that he comes to interrupt her wedding to another man... As his legal wife Rebecca has no choice other than to leave her home, family, friends and the man she thinks she loves to travel back to England with her husand to his home the Foxbridge Cloister. A very inhospitable reception awaits her - after all she's an American! Complete with an unfriendly mother-in-law who wants her son to marry a well-to-do Lady, a jealous charlatan in the form of her husband's ex-lover Clarisse who will stop at nothing to gain back her lover and became Lady Foxbridge, and an unknown scheming rival looking to take control of the Foxbridge Cloister, the action never stops right up to the last page. Once you've started reading you won't be able to stop until you find out whether or not there's a happy ending...

THIS BOOK WILL MAKE YOU FEEL SO GRATEFUL!!!

Have you ever read a book, that was so good, that within the first few pages, you started to think of people you wanted to buy it for, but you waited to see if it was really as good as you thought? And then, by the time you were 2/3's through, you were slowing down your pace, not because it wasn't good, but because it was SO GOOD, that you didn't want it to end? Rebecca Bloom is such a book.
I have read many, many books, and I can sincerely say, that this is one of my favorite books of all time. While the protagonist is 15, and I am 51, it was just as relevant to me as it would be to a teenager. This is a deep wisdom book, a healing story. At first I thought of all the young women I know, who NEEDED to read this book, but by the time I was 1/2 way through it, I just wanted to get a copy for every friend I love.
Imagine if you had a "spiritually enlightened" mother, who understood that our powers and abilities for creativity, healing and cooperation were much greater than our dominant culture teaches us, and she wrote a book, in a fun and engaging "fantasy" format, to help heal you, and keep this knowledge alive. Rebecca Bloom would be that book.
This book is truly a medicine book, written playfully and skillfully, and a joy to read. The plot is thoroughly engaging. It's hard to put down, as the story literally sweeps you up. I have no idea how the author wrote this book. It is truly magical!
In reading the other reviews, I can see we all have the same challenges, capturing just how good this book is, because there has never been a book quite like it. It defies categorization. It seems almost a crime that I had never heard of this book before, when it is such a gift. The good news is, if you are reading this review, you have a chance to order it. Get it today!

The world of Thanely is truly an amazing, multi-dimensional place with interesting characters that parallels our own world and issues. There are many underlying themes to dwell into. But mostly it's an enjoyable, wonderful story you can't put down. This book is great for all ages. I am looking forward to the rest of the trilogy. Rebecca Bloom could be the next Harry Potter.

A marvelously creative tale! This book is by an unknown author, however, it ranks up there with LaGuin and Tolkkien. This book (first part of a trilogy) was given to me by a friend of the author's and once I picked it up I could not put it down! It follows the adventures of Rebecca Bloom, who travels through a puddle and into another realm. There, she meets a cast of unusual characters, becomes acquainted with her own skills and abilities, and faces enormous challenges. It also contains a relevant social commentary about how young people are viewed in our society. Five stars! Buy this book today if you have children! They will love it and so will you!

Lynne Kositsky tackled difficult subject matter in Rebecca's Flame -- and pulled it off in a way that is memorable and compelling. The controversial subject matter of the romance between Rebecca and Sean is sure to raise some eyebrows, but even though the novel is set in the 1800's, this is still a current issue in the Jewish community. Rebecca's decision on how to handle the situation is surprising and ultimately calls into question issues of faith and love.

I absolutely loved Rebecca's flame. I was irresistibly drawn in within the first ten pages, and I had the worst time putting it down. I just had to know what happened next. I thought that the characters weren't as well developed, in general, as in her other book, Candles, but I loved the character of Sean. Many characters, so-called "love interests" are not as well developed as the main character, but I got a real sense that Sean was a real person. Just like last time, Lynne Kositsky hits the nail on the head!

Rebecca grew up long ago, in an America that has now almost vanished - where daughters learn how to run family homes from their mothers; sons learn how to run family farms from their fathers, & electricity hasn't yet reached their roads. In a time when each season brings its own labors, worries & beauties.

Some will think Rebecca's story a sad one, only thinking about the hard life she had of all work & little play. That her childhood was cut short by tragedy. Don't be sad for this enduring, hardworking girl, for she has long since gotten over it, & has thrived & lived a very good life.

While REBECCA, A MARYLAND FARM GIRL may have only 67 pages, it is filled with struggles & victories of a child from another time that will immeasurably enrich your own life.

Rebecca, A Maryland Farm Girl is the true story of a young girl in Maryland in the late 1920's and early 1930's, who, after the death of her mother in a tragic accident, had to labor at grueling farm chores and hike several miles to the school bus. The strain of her daily responsibilities brought about seemingly insurmountable barriers to her education. Very highly recommended for young readers, Rebecca, A Maryland Farm Girl is a poignant and compelling story of struggle and hardship, especially acute for demonstrating the harsh conditions of the past to young people who have grown up in relative comfort and have no idea how hard their grandparents had to fight for the privilege of an education.

Rebecca, A Maryland Farm Girl is a treasure that should become part of the school cirriculum's required readings. It teaches the children of today about the children of the 1920s-30s, a time they are unfoutunately often oblivious to. This lost knowledge, which is essential for children to understand our country and more importantly their relatives before them, is found in the wonderful tale of the experiences of a school aged girl, Rebecca, and how the world around her shapes the that girl she becomes. This is a book not to be missed! I loved it!
