A Rainbow Of Love is one of several volumes containing a wonderful selection of poetic treasures, selected from more than 1000 poems written by Washingtonian native, Josephine B Comberiate. Born in 1917, she played piano and acted as emcee for a local dance band, Charlie Guion and His Washingtonians, in the 1930's. She learned the popular hits of the day and wrote music for the group, which performed at the Mayflower and other hotels and at high-society parties. Despite encouragement from Dinah Shore and Liberace, none of the 425 songs she published, mostly ballads and inspirational music, ever became a hit. All the colors of the rainbow are painted into this 86-page volume of her poetry that "sings" of creation, nature, love, liberty, family, babies, animals, friends, and music.

It is a shame this one is out of print at this time. It is well worth the time spent trying to find a copy. The subject here, is exotic birds from around the world and the photographs are wonderful. The text is very well executed and goes along with the color plates quite well. There is an excellent glossery included and the book is quite readable. Recomment this one highly.

Growing up in and around ashrams, trying to quiet the mind, getting in and out of rhythms of shorter to longer daily meditation sittings, encountering the internal and external pressures and influences around these patterns, gaining and losing what I think Kent calls "spiritual vanity" are all common issues for spiritual aspirants. Kent's surprisingly personal, humerous, honest accounts of all these things, which he has experienced in spades, just busted a fascade for me in such a delightful way. My Guru used to say something like "truth is high, but true living is higher still." Kent's account pretty well differentiates the two for me and makes the latter a simpler, less daunting possibility; one that carries with it a feeling of relief, lightness and joy.

This book was chosen for our Senior Book Club mainly because the author's brother is married to a club member's daughter. I was pleasantly surprised when this book aroused the best book discission we ever had. The book is easy to read and can be read in an afternoon, but the subject matter is deep and gave lots to think about. One member compared it to Greek tragedy. The short chapters pecked away at the anguish of a small town discovering that two teacher's are gay. The author writes with clarity and presents many sides of this issue. We would recommend it to anyone struggling with this issue or just wants to be enlightened. It's a good read!

Children's Beginner's Piano Book- A Great Start

We love using Rainbow Piano Technique. More importantly, our daughter, 3, loves it. She had an immediate response, picking up a full measure of music within minutes. She started playing songs in it, left hand and right hand, within three weeks. The color tabs let her read the music without stress. The music is familiar children's songs, and Annie Wang seems to have done a good job in making them sound fresh. We are truly delighted with the book. We wanted to give our daughter the gift of music, and this turns out to be an excellent start to that dream.

For current students: read it because you will appreciate your chosen university more, and understand why some of her current faults exist, while feeling grateful that many worse faults were tackled and defeated by previous generations...
For alumni: read it because you will understand how important your class was to the development of the university, and how essential alumni, like you, are to the continued evolution of Niagara University...
