This is a delightful children's book. The illustrations are beautiful, very colorful.

The message of the book is one that especially children who are "different" can relate to. This book tells us how God ALWAYS keeps his promises. Sometimes our prayers are answered in the most unusual way, but the point is they are answered. This is a book that should be in every child's library.

Although this is the fifth in the Earl the Emu series it is the first one that I have read for review. "Earl the Emu: God Promises a Rainbow" is a wonderful children's story with an important message for everyone - God delivers on His promises. It may not be the way that we expect but be assured that He does keep His word. Join Earl the Emu and his animal friends as they help Jason. Jason just wants to play baseball so he can hit a home run. But he is not a very fast runner and so the other boys won't even let him play baseball with them. How can he hit a home run if he is not even allowed to play? This is a real problem. Join Earl the Emu as he becomes aware of this situation and helps Jason to make it happen. "Earl the Emu: God Promises a Rainbow" is a recommended children's book for ages of about three to eight.

Fascinating Theory

What a fascinating theory: that electrodynamic fields can indicate moods and other psychological characteristics. A most interesting application of this theory was for birth control: the data showed that, through non-instrusive methods, one can determine exact moments of ovulation.

Why hasn't anybody followed up on this theory? I'd love to see data developed by more recent experiments using the most modern equipment.

Dynamics and History of Electro Magnetic Field (EMF) Discoveries

For those interested in EMF, and this should be just about everyone interested in the dynamics of life processes, this is the bible of electrodynamic theory and the history of EMF discoveries, the main original researchers (Harold S. Burr- 1889-1973, Dr. Leonard J. Ravitz, and F.S.C. Northrop- 1893-1992) and a in-depth catalog of EMF applications. "Life is organized around electricity" and this is the focus of the research and discoveries.

The studies showed that EMF affects all living entities with influences stretching all the way from Earth and into the far reaches of the solar system and with EMF detection devices, weather can be forecasted: earthquakes, hurricanes, rain, etc., and as accurately as animals can "feel" their approach along with detectable influences of the moon and sun and beyond; women's monthly cycles and ovulation; cancer detection; agricultural crops, esp., seeds can be analyzed for their vitality, etc.

These studies have influenced research in just about all disciplines: the EMF influence and it's importance cannot be understated. In their book, "The Secret Life of Plants", authors Peter Tompkins and Christopher Bird, used data from the original EMF studies and cited Ravitz's work.

The book is technical but approachable to those familiar with EMF studies. One won't loose anything by passing over some of the more dense language, the importance of EMF phenomenon is easily harvested and digestible.

The "Handbook For The New Paradigm" trilogy, including the books Embracing the Rainbow (pt.2) and Becoming (pt.3) are an excellent overview of the current state of planetary affairs and the process of chaos and transformation that is materializing. These books impart a set of basic spiritual principles that explain how our reality manifests and how we can work within this framework to transcend the current paradigms and agendas playing out on Earth. This series is a true gem, with much wisdom and loving insights offered to those spiraling out of the current polarity games on Earth.

Two great stories in one book...

Far Rainbow is about a planet that finds it self facing the end. It has to make some choices. Choices on who will live and who will die. The Second Invasion From Mars is about Martians coming back to take over the Earth using different methods. Both stories deal mostly with the human condition and have little to do with science or technology. It is a must for any sci-fi library.

Grace, Beauty, and Disaster

Arkady and Boris Strugatsky's "Far Rainbow" represents that strangest of amalgams -- an eerily beautiful story of a planetary disaster. From a population of millions, only a handful could be saved. Paradoxically, the event brings out the best of the inhabitants, who set about selecting those among their number who represent the best of its people, work, and aspirations. Among the greatest works of all postwar Soviet fiction irrespective of category, the sci-fi books of the Strugatsky brothers deserve to be reprinted and disseminated to a new generation.

It wonderful! It's great to take with you when you go shopping to pick out the brands that offer products with no preseevitives. Also products with whole foods. My family's energy level has gone up from eating whole foods. I would recomend this book to all families who are intrested in their health!

Excellent guide to learn healthy grocery products to store.

Review Date: 1998-12-18
Because I was aware of the harmful additives and preservatives used in most items carried in the grocery store, I learned to cook with the "basics" like beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds. This book opened my eyes to the thousands of SAFE products on my grocery store shelves that complement what I already have stored.

I like cooking "from scratch", but I am also a very busy person and I'm not always the one in charge of cooking, so my family enjoys knowing what products they can use to make a fast, completely nutritious meal.

Great book!!!!!

Enthusiastically recommended Native American story
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2004-08-13
The Good Rainbow Road is a fable written by contemporary Native American author Simon J. Ortiz. Though it is not based upon any traditional Native American legend, it has been deliberately crafted with the inspiration and narrative style of such. It is a tri-lingual storybook, with its adventurous tale presented in English, Spanish, and the Keres language of the Acoma Pueblo Native Americans. Brightly illustrated by Michael Lacapa in a slightly stylistic manner, The Good Rainbow Road tells of two brothers who set out to rescue their village from drought, yet for one brother, fear is a far more dire obstacle than even the most perilous hazard. The Good Rainbow Road is a most enjoyable and enthusiastically recommended Native American story exposing avid young readers to languages and cultures outside of the mainstream.

Heartily Happy!

I'm enjoying the messages in this book...the stretching and flexing exercises are wonderful! I combine them with my daily 3-mile NordicTrack workout and feel that I'm actually being a friend to my heart now! (I lost a brother a year ago to a heart attack "out of no where", so I'm glad to work on the heart of my matter!)

The reason behind each exercise is explained and then the proper way to do each one is illustrated! Certainly, the "user friendly" aspect of the book caught my interest right away! While I'm very active and healthy, the exercises in this book seem to enhance my feelings of fitness! My heartfelt appreciation, Dr. Wexler!

"Heart Friendly" is also Reader Friendly

Who needs another exercise book? Well, it turned out I did. Dr. Wexler explains how exercise affects specific body functions and from this flows his emphasis on correct breathing when exercising. His recommendations differ from those given by various fitness instructors; since Dr. Wexler is a distinguished cardiologist I am now following his recommendations. This slim volume is user friendly in that the 29 exercises are clearly illustrated and the text is well organized and tightly written.

There are many people in the world who don't realize that Animal Physiology is the most intensely interesting thing that anybody could ever study. This book will make sure that you are not one of those people.

This is one of the best, if not the best, introduction to the understanding of environmental physiology. Schmidt-Nielsen takes the stance that the adaptation of animals to their environment profoundly decides the nature of their physiology and behavior. Steve Popkes, Boston, MA

Excellent Christian poetry. Joy speaks of heart issues that we, especially women, deal with. She doesn't stop with identifying the areas of struggle, but completes the circle by leading us to Christ where the answers are. Makes a great gift especially high school age and up.

Then he gives detailed descriptions the best cultivars of each type. The photography throughout the book is fantastic and completes this book as a treasure!
