A Fascinating Look at Indian Village Life in the 70s

This was one of the most fascinating books I have ever read, and I've read thousands. The author wrote beautifully, with such vibrant descriptions it was almost like being there. I've often wondered what it would be like to have lived in a village in Punjab during that period of time. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in rural Indian lifestyles.

This is a really good book

I read it about 12 years ago so I'm kind of rusty about it but I recall it was a super book. The true story of an amazing gutsy British lady who gets involved with a Sikh Nihang (temple guard) in India and their subsequent adventures. This book is a real sleeper for those of us who enjoy cross-cultural and travel writing. Highly recommended. I wonder what the author is doing now?

The often forgotten ingredient to the enchantment

Yes, very few music fans are actually aware of the role of music producers in the making of timeless (or in more subjective terms, special) recordings. Richard Buskin's opus, which begins with a passionate foreword by Brian Wilson, will help to clarify the work of past and present key figures in the record production world. To the initiated, the testimonies, anecdotes and other episodes that once were only confined to the control room come to life as the living proof of the utmost importance of such professionals in the making of the songs we all love, showing that they often need far more than just "good ears". Part diplomats, part businessmen, part psychologists, part marketing experts; record producer helped to shape music as we know it today. As a final comment, unlike Mark Cunningham's book (which is also fantastic, by the way), this one is not only confined to the UK scene.

A great look at behind-the-scenes heroes

While, no question, musical talent speaks loud and clear, a good producer and a good engineer sure help raise the volume level. This is a great collection of anecdotes from some of the top people in both areas (sometimes they're the same person!). George Martin, Sam Phillips and Quincy Jones you probably know, but the insights of others like Bob Rock (Metallica), Norman Smith (Pink Floyd), Bill Price (The Sex Pistols), Roy Halee (Paul Simon), Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones) and Leiber and Stoller (Elvis, The Drifters), as well as everyone else featured here, make for fascinating reading about what goes on in the studio. Hope there's a Part 2 somewhere down the road!

Eli is in love with his best friend Grant. But since the beginning of their friendship two years ago, Grant has not given signs to wants something more from Eli, and has allowed to Eli to enter his world only as a friend. So Eli has settled himself to it and contents himself with their nights spent together in front of the television or speaking of their mutual interest, art: Eli is a painter, Grant a tattoo artist.

But one night Eli goes to Grant and he is out, his neighbour says he is cruising in a near BDSM club. Eli is struck; he can accept to not have sex with Grant if the thing is mutual, ma knowing that Grant is searching someone also ignites a rebellion in him: if someone has to come home tonight with Grant, he will be him.

When Grant sees Eli at the club, he thinks his friend is searching to try something new in his life, a little of kinky sex. And he volunteers to be his teacher. But the lessons between them grow in something more passionate they espect.

Grant is a "classical" character: he was wounded by love in the past and now he not allows himself to be really involved with someone. He uses BDSM and kinky sex to hide himself behind a scene and not slip out his true nature. When love knocks on his door, he relegates him to the role of friend to not loose him but also to not unveals his fears.

Eli is a quite man who contents himself with a normal life and a simple love. But when he risks to loose his lover, he unleashes all his courage and fight to conquer his prize.

A rather brief novel, with two tender characters. Not too inside to BDSM world, with only some scenes of role playing. An enjoyable reading, very romantic indeed.

I am not generally a fan of BDSM. I find detailed descriptions of the rules and regulations of BDSM clubs extremely boring and tedious, and it's hard for me to take the hard-core scenes seriously with all the control and counting and whatnot. Serious BDSM books just make me giggle. Immature? Maybe (ok, yes), but at least I know what does and does not work for me in my reading.

I can't remember where I first saw this little gem from Anne Thomas, but the description stuck with me and I had a feeling it would be a great book even despite the mention of a BDSM club. I love it when a "hunch" delivers!

Grant and Eli are great characters. Grant is strong and sexy and extremely dominant, but he's also sweet and kind and scarred from a past relationship that went wrong. Eli knows that he wants to be more than just friends with Grant, and is willing to do whatever it takes to convince Grant that they should be together, even if it means entering into a lifestyle that is completely unfamiliar and even a little intimidating.

The two men don't spend much time in the BDSM club and there's only a couple of pages of "rules and regulations" (and the way Grant spells out the rules is actually really hot), so I'd rate this book as "BDSM-Lite", which actually works for me. I really enjoy light bondage, spanking, and D/s in my M/M romance when it's not bogged down by boring stuff like detailed lifestyle descriptions and crack psychology. The love scenes in this book are emotional and unbelievably steamy. Grant's awe and wonder at Eli's responses to him are sweet and sexy, and Eli's inner dialogue is smoking hot.

This book also employs one of my favorite character roles--the naturally dominant male that is willing to submit to the one he loves. I love to read about tops that are only willing to bottom for that one special man.

I don't know how to explain it, but everything in this book just worked really well for me. This is romance, so the boys do get their HEA, but the resolution is more tender than you'd expect in a BDSM-themed book and the way it happens is somewhat surprising. I love seeing the different facets of Eli's and Grant's personalities.

This is a great book, whether you like BDSM themes or not. The men are sexy, the love scenes are hot, and the romance is sweet. For just over $3, this book is pretty hard to beat. I only wish it had been about a hundred pages longer. I'd love to get to know these boys better.

Very talented Laura Toops has opened a door on the birth of Hollywood with its rough-house, fast-paced lifestyle. Step through and tag along with Harold Gilbert as he learns how to survive in a town that is both creative and destructive at once. A talented clown, all Harold wants to do is make movies, but finds to his dismay that mney makes the rules. He throws his lot in with Jolly Times Productions and begins to learn the ropes. Success breeds a desire for more success and so it is with Harold. He begins to dream in larger forms with longing for more control over his own destiny. You'll meet all the types of characters that peopled Hollywood, both creative and those who preyed on them. Ms Toops introduces us to the pleasures of the flesh as well as the pleasures of seeing one's name in lights through the eyes of some very realistic people. A time when the world was young. Highly recommended by a very enthusiastic reader. Enjoy.

The Lathan Loop follows the career of Harold Gilbert, as he goes from Vaudeville stages to the back lots of Hollywood. At twenty Harold dreams of being a part of moving pictures. Harold isn't the only man chasing a dream. Maurice (Max) Rosenberg also dreams of making his name in Hollywood. But Max wants to work behind the camera.

The two men are total opposites and yet they end up partners and form Emmenar Film Company.

This novel is a must read for anyone who loved the early talkies and silent movies. Adding to the enjoyment of the story are visits from Hal and Max's peers Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Fatty Arbuckle, just to name a few.

If Slapstick and Little Umbrellas (Books II and III of the Harold Gilbert Trilogy are as good as The Latham Loop, readers are in for some exceptionally intertaining reads.

Joan Alexander is new to the book scene and she knows how to write what people want and like to read. I am betting there is a bit of her in each short story's Protagonist. She has a great ear for dialogue, too. Her writing style is a bit different from story to story because she wrote them at different times in her life (according to the book's list of magazine articles she has written) and it is great to see her style develop as you read this book. I am very much looking forward to her next book (a novel, we are told) and the one after that. Good book for the beach or on an airplane. "Joan Alexander writes a very good read!" - Toby Padgett. I agree!

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this, her first book, before it was released. Joan Alexander writes the innermost thoughts and feelings of her characters so that I felt they were actually alive and breathing on the pages. Her stories and characters are brilliantly constructed, so much so that they actually become part of your consciousness. In the notes it states she is working on a novel now, and I for one can hardly wait until it is published! Joan Alexander is one of the freshest and most exciting authors I've ever read and I hope she keeps on writing forever. Author, Author!

Andre is a 35 year old investigative report with a perfect winning life: a good job, money and a lot of women to share a bed on night and to leave unattachment on day.

He can't desire no else more... until he meets Simon, his teen's hero, a former report now retired. He is a lot older than Andre, and has a self-consciousness only a very sure man can have. Also him has all in his life, but not a soul mate to share it.

But Andre has never thought on the possibility to be with a man, and Simon knows that and let him go: when Andre will be ready to share his life only with a person, Simon, he will return to him, he is sure of that.

Simon has the strenght derived by a whole life beyond his shoulder. He has lived all and tried all and now he knows what he want. And he also knows that Andre must arrive to his choice alone, not drawn by passion, but only by love.

A very tender and realistic story, with two characters not so young for age, but young when they arrive in the unknown territory of love.

In the Spanish language "mariposa" means butterfly.

Andre Cordaire is a renowned investigative journalist who has been around the world many times, writing mind-blowing stories and exploring the beds of numerous beautiful women. Yet, Andre feels that something major is missing from his life - like the cherished feeling of being in love and having someone special love him. Then out-of-the-blue while relaxing in a bar, Andre happens upon his other half. There is just one problem for Andre - his soulmate is an older man. Will Andre accept this surprising turn of events or will he deny his happiness?

Simon Doran has lived his life to the fullest. During his younger days, he spent the majority of his time globe hopping from one exhilarating story to the next as an investigative journalist. But, now-a-days, Simon is content with teaching at the local university and writing novels on his legendary journeys. Although very satisfied on a professional level, Simon knows that his social life is lacking that special someone to make him complete. Simon finds that happiness in Andre, a younger man who has never experienced loving from another man. From the beginning Simon knows that Andre has a Mariposa Soul and he needs to set him free in order for Andre to come to terms with his new found feelings. But, in doing so, has Simon lost the love of his life?

I found Mariposa Soul to be a unique story about a man who had difficulties facing the truth about his sexuality. From the beginning, it was easy to see that Andre was very confused and on the search for something far more fulfilling than what he had. And, I, for one, must admit until the author reveals what weighed heavily on Andre's mind, I had no clue. Adrianna Dane did a fantastic job of showcasing Andre's struggles, heartache and denials as he tried to come to terms with his feelings for Simon, while at the same time, personified Simon as the perfect mate for Andre. Simon was gentle and not afraid to take charge showing Andre the joys of making love with a man. Their love scenes were sweetly tender, and their encounters were sensual and very passionate. Thank you, Ms. Dane for such a beautifully written gripping story.

An outstanding collection of vignettes that can be read not only by those in the health care professions, but also by those who just have questions about how physicians and clients can communicate around sensitive issues. I have used it as a text for nursing students with great success and shared it with friends diagnosed with a serious illness. I strongly recommend it for anyone who is concerned about quality of life at the end of life

Dr. Quill is best known for his infamous "Diane" who chose to end her life in a unorthodox way. Dr. Quill does not agree with physician assisted suicide, however, he does believe that compassion in dying and allowing one to make their own destiny in the face of uncontrollable pain will alleviate much suffering. The most common reason for suicide in those with medical conditions that are incurable are is they want to die in control and without pain. It is possible with the right medical care and if it results in hastening ones death...so be it. Dr. Kevorkian uses an unorthodox procedure that at times is barbaric. Dr. Quill is one who will help you and make you comfortable. He shares his experiences with several of his patients in a way that is humane and loving.

I have finally found a copy of Mike Mentzer's comptete book of weight training. Thanks to Amazon.com marketplace sellers, mysearch has ended. This book is wayahead of it's time when it comes to weight training. Most trainerstoday train 5-6 days a week, lasting an hour or longer. Mentzerrecommends 3 days a week, 20-30 minutes per day. Now would anyone want to train 5-6 days a week?I don't think so unless you're onsteroids. Most people don't have the time to train either due to their job or other reasons. If your not getting good results from your present routine, then itmay be time to try Mike Mentzer'smethod. If you can find this book,I would certainly recommend it.RIP-MIKE & RAY MENTZER

After reading this book, I can see why it was nominated for the EPPIE award for Best Science Fiction. This book is so packed with action and intrigue, I couldn't stop reading until I finshed it.
I have read science fiction for many years and have become entrenched with the status quo...unitl I read this one! This is simply an exciting story that does not get hung up on technical details and is reminiscent of pulp style science fiction. With a foundation put in place in the first book, Get Out of My Mind, Mind Trap continues this marvelous journey.
If you like a good story with believeable characters, don't pass this one up!

A Great Sequel! I highly reccomend it!

I loved this book! Action and page gripping from from the beginning to the end. A great science fiction tale reminiscent of the pulp fiction I grew up with: a great story without the overindulgence of techincal jargon you find in much of the science fiction of today.

Tony Ruggiero takes the characters from the first book, Get Out of My Mind, (which I also enjoyed very much) and continues their journey in the alien organization, the United Council for Devoloping Worlds, which is secretly located on earth. As their secret plans become public knowledge by a tabloid reporter, all heck breaks lose revealing conspiracies to destroy earth unless Greg Carlson can stop it.

If your looking for an exciting read, don't pass this one up! You won't be sorry!
