My first read by Sandra Dallas and I was most impressed. I picked up this book a few times and it didn't 'take' but I'm happy to say I tried it again and read it nearly in one sitting!

The characters in this story are not as they seem; there are several twists in the novel that make it a most satisfying one.

I am doing my undergraduate research on this woman, and I found this book to be extremely helpful. I loved reading every word and I couldn't put it down. The more I learned about this fantastic, bizarre woman in history, the more I wanted to know. Extensively researched with all of the major texts (as far as I can tell), its most definately an entertaining and informative book. Kudos to this first-time author!

Homesick for Cincinnati cuisine
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2001-01-19
After seeing my brother's copy of this wonderful cookbook, I just had to order one for myself. Living in Minnesota now, I can't buy things such as Cincinnati Chili and Goetta, but now I will be able to make a taste of home myself. Flipping through the pages actually brought a tear to my eye because this collection is much more than authentic recipes --- it's a trip down memory lane. Thanks for the memories!

Great Volume In A Great Series
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-01
Preserving our photographic history is important, and displaying this heritage for the public is a worthy endeavor. This book, like the other titles in this series, does a great job of showcasing my hometown, as other titles in the Images of America series also do with cities and various other subjects across America. These books are worth ten times the price and are the sort of rewarding read that almost anyone, old or young, can enjoy.

The author provides a detailed history of different sets of cryptology , starting thousands of years ago up until modern day. The chapter on the Navajo Indians during WWII is fascinating. The very detailed formulas and coding is attractive to anyone with an interest in the sequence of numbers and characters.

Rowley's fresh and colloquial style of narrative makes you feel at home in the arctic. While you read you can feel the cold wind in your face, you hear the dogs breathing and the ice cracking and you smell the fresh winter air. You start longing for the moment when you can meet all those friendly Inuit. And when you finally get to the arctic you will see that not much has changed.
