Release your inner sex goddessReview Date: 2005-04-20
Non-Threatening and FunnyReview Date: 2004-11-27
No matter how shy or "vanilla" you are, you can certainly spice up your sex life, and probably your self-esteem, by heeding the simple for-beginners suggestions found inside.
Towards the end, the book does delve into some pretty "advanced" topics such as play parties and being a stripper. But there's much to learn here even if you don't want to take it that far. It's not about being all-out kinky and wild and crazy - although if you want to be, this book could be a great start.
But the focus here is really about finding your own personal comfort zones, determining your own fantasies, and feeling sexy YOUR way. No pressure here, just encouragement and support.
Don't pass this book up...Review Date: 2001-06-05

"Coming of Age" for the ShyReview Date: 2005-10-13
She's covered nearly every aspect of shyness pertaining to self-image, sexual exploration, and body image; this book isn't just about dressing up and showing cleavage. And let's clarify that it's not just geared toward a female audience either. Queen talks directly, soothingly, to all those wishing to expand their sexual and self-confidence horizons.
I was only amazed to find how far along the spectrum I am myself coming from such shy and conservative beginnings. I was expecting practical steps and creative ideas for "coming out" on my own only to realize just how much of an exhibitionist I already am. And that also credits how Queen begins with exibitionism in private and for oneself, establishing a comfort zone for the individual where it should be begun.
I wish the book included more advanced exhibitionism techniques, or maybe more modern ones. Queen could've ventured into the realm of exhibitionism acted out online in all the various forms, how to begin, safe places for exercising your turn-ons, etc. Still, Queen covers the full spectrum of self-growth and comfort with exhibitionism so comprehensively that there are definitely creative ideas and issues addressed even for the more advanced. Enjoy!

Full of adventure!!!Review Date: 2000-08-19
Gallen O'Day is a seasoned fighter, a guide, and a guard. He longs for adventure and for excitement. He has a widely known reputation for being a very efficient guard, robbers know his name and fear him.
Maggie Flynn works in an alehouse and thinks Gallen is handsome and the best guard/guide around. She and Gallen have an odd sort of relationship. They have an attraction to each other but Gallen doesn't make any of the moves, thinking Maggie is too young.
The adventure for Gallen starts when two strangers come to the alehouse. A man who wears two swords, walks and looks like he knows how to fight and it appears he's the bodyguard of the second stranger.
The second stranger is young, beautiful, petite, and ... perfect. And to top it all off the stranger is female. Immediately Gallen feels the urge to protect her and thinks he's fallen in love. But what are two strangers who obviously are different doing here? The strangers reveal that they want to travel to the ancient arch called Geata na Chruinne. They need someone to take them there and it can't be a boy, it has to be a soldier, or someone who knows how to fight.
Gallen is the only one who knows the way and who can fight. So they make a deal that they would travel there later. That night Gallen has another job to deal with. He guides and guards a man but unfortunately they meet robbers on the road. Gallen is awestruck when a sidhe helps him but is puzzled when the sidhe tells him that he will hold Gallen accountable for any oaths he makes this day. When Gallen finally returns he finds himself making an oath that he will help whoever his heart is hot to aid. And his heart is hot to aid ... the strangers.
A creature, a monster that no one has ever seen the likes of before comes into town and is killed. But the strangers have seen that kind of monster before, they aren't shocked as the townspeople are. Orick knows (Gallen's bear friend) because he saw their faces and he decided to follow the two strangers and take Maggie with him.
When Gallen goes to take the strangers (he finds the woman's name is Everynne and the bodyguard is Veriasse) to the arch he discovers that they have the monsters following them. When the arch appears Everynne takes a key and disappears along with Veriasse. The monsters have a key too and are about to follow them when Gallen pops out of hiding and takes the key ... going through the arch taking Maggie and Orick along. They find that they have been transported to a different world.
When they manage to find Maggie and Veriasse again things become more clear. Everynne is going to challenge the Golden Queen for her position. She is the last person of a certain race called Tharrins and if she suceeds she will be the Golden Queen. The present Queen will have to step down ... Everynne hopes to save the worlds that are being destroyed by the Queen's people (vanquishers).
But the one who does the fighting is her companion, guard, and friend Veriasse. He has to battle the Lord Protector and the Lord Protector is not human but something else that can easily cut a person in half.
Who will win in the end and what about Gallen? Gallen is a seasoned fighter ... is it possible that he could learn to defeat the monster before it's too late? Or will they all die and more worlds will be destroyed?
What about Maggie and Gallen? Gallen and Maggie have something special ... all they have to do is respond to their inner hearts before their feelings of love turn into feelings of hate ...
This book is great!!! It's full of adventure and around every corner lurks danger and death ... flashes of romance spark, and this book interwines different ways of thinking and ways of power (both good and bad) as well as showing peoples good sides as well as their bad sides ... A fantastic book and the pages seem to magically fit the story together. A book to read again and again.

It's A Great Book!Review Date: 2007-05-07
The owner of the pig she chose was an orphan boy. The pig was the only thing he had, and the princess felt pity for him. So, she asked if he wanted to come live with her in the palace and take care of the pig. The boy gladly agreed to go live with the pricess in the palace.
The boy taught the pig to do many things, and he wondered if he could teach the princess to think more about other people. One day the princess did begin to think more about other people.
My favorite part of the story was when the princess picked her pig. It was cool that the boy, who was very nice, told her all about the pig.
I am seven and a half years old, and I read this story myself. The story was just right for me. I read alot and would generally suggest a good reader of seven years or older could read it (a few words were difficult, but I could still understand the story). This would also be good story for a parent to read aloud.
I said this review out loud to my dad, who typed it in for me.
Thanks!

Philosopher at bayReview Date: 2008-05-01
Socrates was indicted for impiety. A public action was brought against him as a menace to society. Orators and poets disliked Socrates's influence on the young. He asserted in THE APOLOGY that the true champion of justice must confine himself to private life. Socrates received the death penalty. He did not think he should stoop to servility because he was in danger.
Death is either annihilation or migration of the soul. Crito visited Socrates in prison. Crito urged him to escape. He claimed that Socrates was throwing away his life when he might save it. Socrates argued with Crito that he had no problem with the laws and, thus, he had a duty to be law-biding. Aiding Socrates's escape would be a breach of faith.
PHAEDO is the last conversation. Socrates believed a man should be cheerful in the face of death. A love of wisdom, not the body, makes a person cheerful. Soul resembles the divine, body resembles what is mortal. No soul which has not practiced philosophy may attain the divine nature. Pythagoreans have a theory of the soul. The soul is imperishable. Friends were admonished by Socrates to just be themselves. The philosopher faced death handily.
Amazing and wonderful, the three titles are a compelling work.
How is one to rate...Review Date: 2008-02-20
Rather than presume to judge Plato, or Socrates, or Plato-as-Socrates, I will simply add my own voice to the chorus of general opinion and say: TLDoS is as resonant and, in its way, relevant, today as it was so many aeons ago. Though hardly a work of unassailable logic it is, nonetheless, a deeply thoughtful, imaginative, and passionately argued one. As I made my way through it, I had to remind myself, from time to time, that what I had before me was a work of ancient literature. Tredennick and Tarrant are to be commended for their eminently readable translation. As I am not a classicist, I cannot speak to the quality of the translation, but if the quality of the endnotes serves as any indication, I would venture to guess that the translation is first-rate.
A very complex Socrates -- as remembered, as imagined, and perhaps also as invented -- emerges from the four dialogues in TSDoS. That this same Socrates still has power to reach across the ages to confound, inspire, frustrate, entertain, and teach is as sure a testament to his legacy, and to the legacy of classical Greek philosophy, as any.
Read and learn.
THE INDIVIDUAL AGAINST THE STATEReview Date: 2007-12-30
However, the tradition of civil disobedience which Socrates founded is only meaningful in a democracy, where people have the right to dissent and to have a fair and public trial. And it is rapidly becoming obsolete. For on October 17, 2006, President Bush signed into law the Military Commissions Act, initiating the gravest crisis in US history, not excepting the Civil War, Pearl Harbor, and 9/11 itself. Congress has had over a year to repeal or amend that act but has failed to do so. Now it is up for review by the Supreme Court. If that body, now nearly half-filled with "rubber stamp" justices, fails to strike down the law as unconstitutional we shall have to resort to a very different tradition than that of Socrates, one which has its roots in medieval England, and was transformed in the 17th century into John Locke's social contract theory. Jefferson expressed it in the immortal words of the Declaration of Independence: speaking of the American colonists, he wrote, "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them to absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government and provide new guards for their future security." Faced with the prospect of living in a society which would have made his dissenting individualism impossible, I'm sure Socrates would have agreed.
The Last Days of SocratesReview Date: 2007-06-16
Although every Socratic dialogue is absolutely riddled with complacent people for Socrates to question, this collection actually reveals the largest variety of listeners. From crazy commoners to cynical and court-goers, a critical criminal and the crowd of conflicting friends, Socrates caught every category and class of character off guard. At first, the evidence that hints at Socrates' trial is a mere conviction and nothing more. He had been free then. He had boldly questioned commoners at the very steps to the courthouse that he would defend himself in later. This penniless philosopher inquired of many people during his spare time.
In this collection, the second and third dialogues are the ones that depict the powerful defense of Socrates using logic to its full extent. In brilliantly defending himself, Socrates caressed, persuaded, and rallied only just under half of the jury. Unfortunately, he had failed to win the jury over completely, but he had come so close. Sleeping in the cell that was later constructed for him, Socrates was aroused by Crito, a man who had been a believer in Socrates. The extent of the discussion is contained in the third dialogue titled Crito. Anyhow, the general public hated Socrates so much that only death would avenge their flaming lust for revenge. The second and third dialogues depict Socrates' infamous apologetics and must be read. That is not all, however.
In Phaedo, Socrates calmly awaited his own death by hemlock, in a full chamber of the courthouse. He first addressed his followers and comrades alike concerning the meaning of life. He wanted to reassure them that there was indeed life after death, and that he would be going to a better place. Before he drank the poison, however, Socrates spurred a discussion of the soul and its immortality, or at least as logic had presented it to him. (Of course he had to argue it.) When two of his followers timidly provided Socrates with their opposing views, he only smiled and destroyed each argument consecutively. This he did because he wanted to share his hopes with his friends and did not want them to doubt his reincarnation. Nobody could fight back tears as he took the poison and perished. Socrates' legend now carries from there on. In Phaedo, the philosopher convinced his pals that his soul had not been dying, but had rather been transcending.
I love how Penguin has organized these significant conversations. Socrates is much easier to comprehend because of this book. Socrates had been last heard saying, "Crito, we ought to offer a cock to Asclepius. (This is because Asclepius had been the god of pleasure.) See to it and don't forget." Buy this book. See to it and do not forget. When I purchased this book, which was in a used condition, it only cost two cents and has not disappointed me. Since it is known that Socrates is always welcome to thinkers, the price feels reduced even further for those who love logic. You will deprive yourself if you miss out on this intellectual classic of the Father of Greek philosophy.
The Last Days of Socrates. Plato. (Penguin)Review Date: 2007-11-13
Plato's telling of Socrates' last days consists in four parts:
(1.) Euthyphro: Socrates in Action. (2.) The Apology: Socrates on Trial. (3.) Crito: Socrates in Prison. (4.) Phaedo: The Last Conversation.
Euthyphro, The Apology, and Crito are better paced and more interesting than Phaedo, which is a long Socratic argument that the soul must possess some extra-material existence, which continues, or is somehow renewed, beyond corporeal death. I suspect that most readers will enjoy the first three sections of this text, but find the last (and longest) more of a chore; at least that is my opinion. Throughout the text, Plato presents Socrates as a man of both relentless curiosity and an admirable ethical heroism.
* As to the rather facile side bar discussion that seems to have been present in earlier reviews in this forum (while noting the forensic evidence indicating that the worst of these comments was deleted): Given the full weight of the available evidence, Socrates' supposed bisexuality can add up to nothing more than idle speculation. As to his relationships with young men, it cannot be confirmed that they involved males that were considered to be below an age at which they could accountably assent--and even more importantly, IF any such relationships were of a sexual nature at all. Given the available accounts, arguments that these were NOT sexual relationships seem clearly more defensible than (slanderous?) accusations that they were. In other words, as regards this charge, we simply enter an arena of irresolvable facts and potential slander. Why go there?! What we CAN glean from the only extant accounts of Socrates' character is that he considered himself to be one who strove to consistently abide by the highest ethical standards, and that this is consistent with Plato's account here. As cited in Phaedo, these comments of Socrates' seem particularly relevant to this [particular slander]: ". . . true philosophers abstain from all bodily desires and withstand them and do not yield to them. . . those who care about their souls and do not subordinate them to the body dissociate themselves firmly from these others and refuse to accompany them on their haphazard journey; and, believing that it is wrong to oppose philosophy with her offer of liberation and purification, they turn and follow her wherever she leads."

Skuld is not my favorite of the goddesses, but at this stage, she is rather cute. I prefer how she looks now to her design in the later books, since she looks younger. Unfortunately, that means that her older sisters looks younger as well, and that doesn't work.

Delighful!Review Date: 2000-05-09
College freshman Morisato Keiichi gets more than he bargained for when he goes dialing for dinner and gets an unexpected delivery - Belldandy, a real live, honest to goodness Goddess!
Belldandy grants him a wish, and Keiichi decides that what he really needs is a girlfriend just like Belldandy!
And that's exactly what he gets. The mysterious "Ultimate Force" that enforces all Wish Contracts comes into play, and Keiichi and Belldandy are now inseparable.
That's when Keiichi remembers that his dorm has a strict rule: NO WOMEN ALLOWED!
Can Keiichi and Belldandy find a new place to live? Will everyone buy the story that she's a foreign student? And does Keiichi have the guts to put the moves on a babe who is LITERALLY divine?
As said above, this series follows Keiichi and Belldandy life together. "Oh my goddess" may lack in a number of area's, but it still remains a delightful romantic/comedy. Full of charm, "Oh my goddess" remains one of my favorite manga's.
The artwork is quite good. The characters designs are all interesting and very detailed. The artwork is overall easy on the eyes. is still pretty easy on the eyes.
The characters are engaging. There is Keiichi, college student who, while trying to order takeout, summons a goddess instead. Then there is Belldandy, Keiichi's love interest and first class goddess, she is sweet and kind, and incapable of lying. Then there is the sexy Urd, who is also first class,(actually, first class limited because she will sometimes lie.) Urd has a high profile of herself, and believes she is the most powerful of her siblings. Urd is constantly trying to force Keiichi into puting the moves on Belldandy, and is sometimes quite decieving. Urd is also a talented alchemist. And finally, there is Skuld, who dislikes Keiichi and believes that he is stealing Belldandy away.
This anime is chock full of jokes. Wheither it be Urd's attitude, the evil bugs( who look more kawaii than evil), Skulds love to her devices, or that very weird program on the television, it all works amazingly well."Oh my goddess" may lack the good material that "ranma 1/2" offers, but many of the jokes are still clever.
Many of the jokes are stricky hit and miss. Fortunatly, for me, the weak jokes added to "Oh my goddess"'s charm, while the good jokes created a bundle of hilarity. And I find charm more rewarding than laughs. But as the series progresses, it takes a more serious tone, causing you to ponder Keiichi and Belldandys love for each other. You will be praying that their love holds up against all of the people who doubt them and try relentlessy to tear them apart. This feeling will hook you and force you to continue turning the pages. And this feeling stays far after the laughs are over.
"Oh my goddess" is wonderful. If you like "Tenchi muyo" or "Ranma 1/2" don't hesitate. "Oh my goddess" is a classic. It truly worth the money, as it is readable over and over again. Again, this is a wonderful manga that is both sweet and bittersweet. Pick this manga up as soon as you can. I loved it, and I'm sure you will to.
Book 5: Enter SkuldReview Date: 2003-04-23
First, Mara returns and teams up with Sayoko to get Keiichi to reject and leave Belldandy. Then in the second story, Mara goes after Keiichi's sister Megumi and turns her into a car but comes loses her memory when she touches a good luck arrow. Now she can't remember how to undo her spell. The third tale has Belldandy racing for the Nekomi Tech Motor Club. Aoshima is determined to end NTM forever and tries to sabotoge her vehicle.
The fourth tale is the funniest as Urd uses Valentine's Day to con Belldandy into making Keiichi a chocolate (in Japan, women give men Chocolate on Valentine's Day and the men return the favor a month later; homemade chocolate is considered a sign of love as I understand it). Mara gets wind of this and makes a special poison chocolate while Urd makes a special love chocolate to replace Belldandy's.
The final tale introduces us to the third goddess Skuld. She's youngest sister of Belldandy and Urd and has come to Earth because of the bug problem. Fans of the OAV series will recoginze this story though its ending is very different from the OAV.
Bottom line: Fans of the OAV series or the movie will want to have this in their collection. Sweet, cute, and funny, it is a manga that can be enjoyed by most people.
