I bought this book for one of my children for a summer reading project. I needed a specific version and was glad I could search Amazon by ISBN. The book arrived quickly and the price was reasonable. I'm sure other family members will enjoy the book when the projcet is complete.

The book is excelent reading but please get a different version.
This version only has 580 or so pages where as other versions have over 1,300 pages. That means that this version is only half the story.
So much gets lost in translation already don't cheat yourself even more.

I have been gaming for over 15 years, ond only recently picked this up and played at a con. I love it. It's simple, easy to learn and play, and has an inherent flexibilty that makes it easy for Keeper's to make a judgement call on events not covered in the rules. (When in doubt, the Luck roll is a good bet).

If you want real horror, ignore the WoD and make it Cthulhu!

The Call of Cthulhu system, as written in the 5.5 and 6.0 versions, is one of the most complete systems I've ever found.

That is amazing, considering exactly how LITE the rules system is. There are very few hard and fast rules, with almost everything being handled by percentile dice. The system is very organic, with characters increasing in skill by performing them.

The characters in a Call of Cthulhu game are more 'real' than some similar games from other companies. They have a great sense of depth due to the occupation system used. Also, considering how lethal combat is in the game, you are greatly encouraged to think your way out of problems.

One other area that has been found by my group to be important is the ease of transfer from one 'style' of play to another. Whenever we are wanting to run any type of realistic game set in any era, we always look to the Call of Cthulhu rulebook for ideas. So far, we have run a wild west game and several other genres using the rules in this book.

The works of master horror writer H.P. Lovecraft of the 1920s have influenced almost every single good horror writer to date, from Ann Rice to Stephen King. COC is likely the best RPG ever put to print, and the publisher Chaosium just makes things easier for players by adding content from their various supplements with each new edition. A typical game session has your characters snooping around for clues, and interrogating various NPCs (non player characters), and then implementing a course of action. The climax of a campaign also often (unfortunately for players) includes one of the hideous deities of the Cthulhu Mythos, such as Azathoth, Cthulhu himself, Dagon, or, possibly the worst, Nyarlathotep, trickster god with a thousand avatars or "masks". COC is the only game that has ever given me, as the gamemaster, chills reading a supplement in the middle of the day. I also recommend picking up one of the numerous Cthulhu Mythos anthologies of short stories. Prepare to be scared

I first read these tales in an "Armed Services Edition" of HP Lovecraft stories, back in 1944! Sitting underseas in a US Navy Submarine in the South Pacific, scared to death, and lonely for home, these stories gripped me so completely, I forgot my real fears of war.

That old book, now tattered and yellowed with age, was read by my son and daughter, who now want to pass it on to my grandchildren. It's time for me to replace it with a new Penguin edition before is falls apart, totally!

Lovecraft's writing has many weaknesses, flowery language, poor characterizations and vague plots. I see all these faults now, but they never bothered me when I first read him. Women don't seem to be a part of Lovecraft's world, and that is a shame. His stories were too short to correct these faults. Modern full novels, in the Lovecraft tradition, like "The Riddle of Cthulhu," are written with many of HPL's faults corrected; like the inclusion, for example, of unforgetable characters, romance and a believable plot. Still, the "Call" is the source and the classic horror book. You must experience these classic stories, then move on to today's modern "Lovecraft Style" novels!

Doesn't it tell you something, that *every* review for this edition of this book gives it 5 stars? (Some of the out-of-print editions have reviews here too.) And let's face it, us RPG enthusiasts are not the sort of folks to shy away from criticizing.

Some people will say the Basic Roleplaying rule-set is outdated. It's true that games like Unknown Armies and Godlike are pretty cool, and I know people who are using those rules for their CoC games. But just try introducing a newcomer to those rules, or getting someone who's only played D&D before to convert. They get dizzy, I tell you. Nope, for a simple, elegant rule-set that just about anyone can grasp right off the bat, Call of Cthulhu's Basic Roleplaying has still got it, after more than 20 years. The rules fade into the background, where they belong.

And unlike other games with their multivolume core rulebooks and endless splatbooks that you *need* if you want a fully fleshed-out campaign, everything you really need is right there in this one rulebook. Heck, every time Chaosium does a new edition, they comb all the supplements for spells, monsters, skills, and so on, and add them into the new edition--to save you time and money! Chaosium even printed the entire short story, "The Call of Cthulhu," in this edition, so newbies can get a taste of what it's all about.

If you've got an older edition of CoC, you don't need to buy this one--the rule changes are quite minor. Unlike D&D, a new edition doesn't make everything you already know obsolete--"editions" of CoC are back-compatible with older editions and old supplements. Chaosium does new editions to keep the book in print and to make it a little better every time, not to force the fans to spend money. I bought it because my old book was getting worn out, and I wanted a more durable hardcover edition. Now I can loan out the old book to players. But I'm really happy with the little changes, and it's nice to have some of the information that used to be in adventures and supplements all gathered together in one book.

When someone plunders Queen Bee's lilacs and steals her nectar, the maid calls in Detective Brown to help the distraught ruler stop the culprit. The upset queen feels so disgruntled that she threatens to have Detective Brown's head if he doesn't solve the mystery quickly. But the case proves most baffling with an old tennis shoe as the only clue.

Several days later, when the queen calls Brown in for a report she threatens him about his head again. With his life on the line, Brown feels motivated to solve the crime. He stays up all night to crack the case. Before he captures the thief he is deceived, almost bested in a swordfight, and nearly outwitted by the crafty crook. But his successful efforts are amply rewarded by a delighted Queen Bee.

The rhyming prose and lyrical feel to this picture book should appeal to young children and the adults who read to them. The bright, jewel-colored illustrations serve up a visual treat for young eyes. Illustrator Pamela Marie Key created enchanting pictures rich with vivid detail. I enjoyed the pictures even more than the well-written who-dunnit about the queen's stolen nectar. The four activity pages of at the end of the book form an appealing addition to a fun little mystery.

Yu Watase, Fushigi Yugi: Castaway (Viz, 1992)

Amiboshi infiltrated the ceremony to summon Suzaku, and paid with his life. Now his twin brother Suboshi wants revenge. And he's going to have ample opportunity to get it; since the ceremony was screwed up, Tai Yi-Jun has given Miaka and Co. an alternate way to summon Suzaku, which involves (of course) a long and dangerous journey. And, as if that wasn't bad enough, Tai Yi-Jun tells Miaka that she must refrain from bodily contact with members of the opposite sex, and she can't stop thinking about Tamahome. Castaway, the seventh Fushigi Yugi volume, is the story of the first half of that journey.

Those who aren't fans of the series who attempt to jump into things here are going to have a rough time with it; Fushigi Yugi demads to be read in order. If you're already a fan of the series, though, what are you waiting for? It just jeeps getting better. *** ?

This is volume seven of Fushigi Yuugi. It is a great volume. Miaka and Tamahome are a great couple. They have a wonderful love story. In this volume, Tamahome and Miaka have lots of romantic scenes. Tamahome proposes to Miaka and asks her to marry him. Many events occur and they have lots of romantic scenes. When Tamahome returns to his home and sees his family, he finds out his family has been killed. Miaka comforts him. Tamahome tells Miaka that he promises to protect her with his life as they are on the boat together. Tamahome promises to make Miaka the happiest bride when they get married. Tamahome hugs Miaka and they share lots of romantic moments. This is a great volume.

The ceremony to summon Suzaku has been ruined, but Miaka and the Celestial Warriors of Suzaku have been given a new way to summon the god. Before they go, Miaka and Tamahome have to deal with some devestating news that will keep them from being with one another. Also, Suboshi wants revenge for his twin borther Amiboshi's death, and Tamahome is the one to suffer. I won't say what happens, but I cried at this part. Although there is a "the story thus far" section, as well as a section that says a little (a very little) about many of the characters, this book won't have nearly as much emotional impact if you haven't read the previous books. I love the author/artist's style of art, and I have really enjoyed what I've read of the series so far. It can be painful to read, because, when people die in this series, they stay dead, but it's definitely worth reading. I also, in some ways, prefer reading the manga to watching the anime. Unlike the manga, I own all of the anime for this series, but, at least with the manga, I don't have to listen to Miaka's whiny voice. Miaka is as whiny as I want her to be when I'm reading, lol. This series is definitely a must-read.

vol.7 of FY is like one of the best vol. ever read, in this vol. miaka is warned that she cannot love tamahome and that she has to put aside her feelings for him, she is ot aloud to cross the line that is between her and the celestial warriors well miaka so heartbroken can't say anything, but later on tamahome proposes to her, and miaka just standing there in shock saying that she can't and she says that he is dumb and tamahome in total shock yells at her as she leaves WHY? WHY? and she just goes to the end of the other room with the door closes and just crys, it is like really sad, the next day they go the festival and tamahome asks miaka what did ty-yi-jun say to you, she says nothing and he says that is not true so she tells him that she has to have a pure body that is not touched and so tamahome in shock says your kidding right no feelings for me, well he was about to like pat her and he retreats and turns around and says after all this is over I'll make you the happiest bride (sniff) so romantic(sniff) well as they are going back home to tamahomes family cause hotohori agreed that his family would come to stay, and the most shocking things happens....his family .....murdered, your socks just fly off your feet and tears just come down, and the youngest one baerly alive says welcome tamahome and a couple other things and she dies well it turns that suboshi killed them for revenge for his twin brother amboshi he on the roof singing the flute well there is more and you have to read it, but I warn you it contains a little spoilers but It I recommendit!!

...his little sister is turned into a car, Mara gets amnesia, and ANOTHER goddess arrives! the child-like Skuld is nothing like her half-sisters Urd and Belldandy, and she and Keiichi get off to a bad start right away. She blames him for Belldandy's 'exile' to earth, and hates him for it. She and Urd don't get along much either.

Skuld is not my favorite of the goddesses, but at this stage, she is rather cute. I prefer how she looks now to her design in the later books, since she looks younger. Unfortunately, that means that her older sisters looks younger as well, and that doesn't work.

So...get this book!

Oh my goddess may not have the best artwork, or the best plot. But it has charm. And I absoulutly loved it.

College freshman Morisato Keiichi gets more than he bargained for when he goes dialing for dinner and gets an unexpected delivery - Belldandy, a real live, honest to goodness Goddess!

Belldandy grants him a wish, and Keiichi decides that what he really needs is a girlfriend just like Belldandy!

And that's exactly what he gets. The mysterious "Ultimate Force" that enforces all Wish Contracts comes into play, and Keiichi and Belldandy are now inseparable.

That's when Keiichi remembers that his dorm has a strict rule: NO WOMEN ALLOWED!

Can Keiichi and Belldandy find a new place to live? Will everyone buy the story that she's a foreign student? And does Keiichi have the guts to put the moves on a babe who is LITERALLY divine?

As said above, this series follows Keiichi and Belldandy life together. "Oh my goddess" may lack in a number of area's, but it still remains a delightful romantic/comedy. Full of charm, "Oh my goddess" remains one of my favorite manga's.

The artwork is quite good. The characters designs are all interesting and very detailed. The artwork is overall easy on the eyes. is still pretty easy on the eyes.

The characters are engaging. There is Keiichi, college student who, while trying to order takeout, summons a goddess instead. Then there is Belldandy, Keiichi's love interest and first class goddess, she is sweet and kind, and incapable of lying. Then there is the sexy Urd, who is also first class,(actually, first class limited because she will sometimes lie.) Urd has a high profile of herself, and believes she is the most powerful of her siblings. Urd is constantly trying to force Keiichi into puting the moves on Belldandy, and is sometimes quite decieving. Urd is also a talented alchemist. And finally, there is Skuld, who dislikes Keiichi and believes that he is stealing Belldandy away.

This anime is chock full of jokes. Wheither it be Urd's attitude, the evil bugs( who look more kawaii than evil), Skulds love to her devices, or that very weird program on the television, it all works amazingly well."Oh my goddess" may lack the good material that "ranma 1/2" offers, but many of the jokes are still clever.

Many of the jokes are stricky hit and miss. Fortunatly, for me, the weak jokes added to "Oh my goddess"'s charm, while the good jokes created a bundle of hilarity. And I find charm more rewarding than laughs. But as the series progresses, it takes a more serious tone, causing you to ponder Keiichi and Belldandys love for each other. You will be praying that their love holds up against all of the people who doubt them and try relentlessy to tear them apart. This feeling will hook you and force you to continue turning the pages. And this feeling stays far after the laughs are over.

"Oh my goddess" is wonderful. If you like "Tenchi muyo" or "Ranma 1/2" don't hesitate. "Oh my goddess" is a classic. It truly worth the money, as it is readable over and over again. Again, this is a wonderful manga that is both sweet and bittersweet. Pick this manga up as soon as you can. I loved it, and I'm sure you will to.

This released of the "Oh My Goddess" manga (comic book) continues to improve in art to a cuter style. We have five stories here and three of them are around the demon Mara.

First, Mara returns and teams up with Sayoko to get Keiichi to reject and leave Belldandy. Then in the second story, Mara goes after Keiichi's sister Megumi and turns her into a car but comes loses her memory when she touches a good luck arrow. Now she can't remember how to undo her spell. The third tale has Belldandy racing for the Nekomi Tech Motor Club. Aoshima is determined to end NTM forever and tries to sabotoge her vehicle.

The fourth tale is the funniest as Urd uses Valentine's Day to con Belldandy into making Keiichi a chocolate (in Japan, women give men Chocolate on Valentine's Day and the men return the favor a month later; homemade chocolate is considered a sign of love as I understand it). Mara gets wind of this and makes a special poison chocolate while Urd makes a special love chocolate to replace Belldandy's.

The final tale introduces us to the third goddess Skuld. She's youngest sister of Belldandy and Urd and has come to Earth because of the bug problem. Fans of the OAV series will recoginze this story though its ending is very different from the OAV.

Bottom line: Fans of the OAV series or the movie will want to have this in their collection. Sweet, cute, and funny, it is a manga that can be enjoyed by most people.

Yep, that is the main attraction of this volume of Oh My Goddess! Belldandy and Urd's little sister arrives! She is a little brainiac with a mecha fetish, cute as a button, and probably the most violent of the cast, including Mara! Yet she loves her big sister Belldandy and wants her to come back up to heaven to help her fight the bugs. Evil little rabbit looking creatures that screw around with everything. Good stuff! Also in this volume Keiichi has to deal with Mara yet again. Mara turns Keiichi's little sister Megumi into a car, but because Mara stepped on a good uck item she has amnesia and cannot turn Megumi back into aperson. Crazt stuff enjoy!

This book contains a single story -- the "Lord of Terror". However, it is broken down into parts. The first part sets up the tale with Urd losing her goddess license and Mara summoning the Lord of Terror -- Urd! The second part has Urd showing her demonic mastery over Mara, then destroying the Morisato residence depsite the defence of Belldandy and Skuld.

The third part has Urd starting the Ultimate Destruction Program (UDP) to destroy everything while Belldandy unleashes her full powers. The fourth section has Urd summoning Fenrir who becomes the UDP while the goddesses summon Midgard to defeat the giant wolf. The fifth part has Urd free from evil but powerless while the UDP transfers itself first to Midgard, then to Keiichi. The final part has Keiichi possessed by the UDP and forcing Skuld to build a device to help it destroy the world while Belldandy makes a choice.

The humor level in this book is much lower than in previous OMG manga, but this story is very interesting & well written. It is cool seeing Belldandy unleashed (within limits).

Bottom line: Certainly this is the best volume to this point in the series despite the limited humor factor. OMG fans will have to have this. Fans of comic arts should appreciate this. Those looking for a fairly wholesome, light reading material shouldn't overlook this title. Be warned you might not put the book down until you've completed it!

Another wonderful volume of Oh My Goddess! In this book Urd gets her Goddess License suspended because of her constant lying, and what does this mean? It means that she is not allowed to use her powers. Meanwhile, the demon Mara is busy trying to make an urn named Mao za Haxon open its eyes, and what a stupid looking urn it is also. Mara is trying to awaken the urn so that it will revive the Lord of Terror, and of course the Lord of Terror is Urd, whom we find out is in fact half demon. But is she really the Dark Lord, or is she just a pawn. Read this manga!

Oh My Goddess! (Aa! Megami-Sama for purists) is rapidly becoming something...unusual in manga. It made its beginnings as a fairly standard piece of Shonen fare, hopeless boy meets stunning girl but is not immediately turned down. But it's becoming something much...wackier than that original outline would suggest. Terrible Master Urd sees Oh My Goddess! tackling an apocalyptic storyline where everything goes wrong and we're left with an ultimate evil to fight and defeat, then fight again, and so on and so on. All very well done and clever, just a touch unusual. Still solid and very entertaining. Worth a look, even if traditional Shonen isn't your bag.

I liked this volume, although maybe not as much as some of the other volumes. In this volume, Mara the demon is here to cause trouble, Urd is called back by the Almighty, a ghost girl tries to hold Keiichi to a promise his grandfather made, and Hasegawa wants to learn how to make the perfect lunchbox for a special someone. The back of this volume has a quote describing this series as "genuinely hear-warming" and I would have to agree. Although the author/artist often deals with themes that are a bit adult (mainly sex), somehow, this series has never gotten raunchy. It's a wonderfully sweet series, something that you can discover in practically any volume you might pick up. This volume seemed a little weaker to me than some of the others, probably because the short story format of some of the stories didn't let the characters shine as much as they could have, but it's still an excellent read.

I like Oh My Goddess, but this is not one of my favorites...

After all that Mara has been through with the goddesses--charm allergies, amnesia, the Lord of Terror, other demons--you'd think she'd eventually give up on attacking them. Well, no one ever accused Mara of having a brain, or common sense. She's come back with a genie-like demon named Senbei, who shows up again in the "Devil In Miss Urd" arc. Needless to say, this doesn't do anything to stop the goddesses, and Mara and her accomplice are once again defeated.

Banpei enters, and causes problems for everyone in the household except for Belldandy, with whom he has fallen madly in love. This is a cute story, but it makes you feel kinda sorry for Keiichi and the oldest and youngest goddesses.

Every fan of OMG should have this book in their collection. So buy it!

This graphic novel covers the original Japanese manga Vol. 7 Ch. 45-47 & Vol. 8 Ch. 48-49. Chapter 45-46 is the Mara arc and chapters 48 & 49 are solo tales.

The first part of the Mara arc has her return to Earth where she possesses Megumi. She unleashes Senbei, who is a genie-demon of poverty and disaster, upon Keiichi and company. The second part of the Mara arc has Skuld create the anti-Mara robot Banpei which works a little too well. The third part has Urd being recalled to the heavens and Mara intends to make sure she leaves for good.

The next story has the Nekomi Tech Motor Club on a retreat to a lodge where a shinnentai (manifestation of will) lives. She seems to know Keiichi and is determined to make him fulfill a promise made in 1930! The final story has Belldandy teaching Sora on the art of making boxed lunches while Urd attempts to play matchmaker.

Bottom line: As one might expect from this series, the artwork is great. The stories are light for the most part with the latter two being more humorous. Great for a quick read before going to bed.

Another wonderful book in the Oh My Goddess series. Mara returns yet again to wreck havoc on the goddesses. This time she takes over Keiichi's little sister's body, and tries to bring misfortune to Belldandy with teh help of Senbei the demon of poverty. He is a prettyy neat guy who talks in the third person. He also lives in a bottle. Also in this book Skuld builds a robot named Banpei to protect the Morisato household from Mara. The problem is that the robot decides that Belldandy needs protection from everyone, including Keiichi and Skuld. Good stuff. Please read it!

Innocent, funny romance with great art

The romance between mortal Keiichi and goddess Belldandy is the most innocent you'll find: rarely do they kiss and never more than that. Surrounding them are Belldandy's sisters: Urd (who wields misfiring love potions in an effort to speed things up) and Skuld (who builds bizarre contraptions which inadvertantly get in the way).

Though this book is named Mara Strikes Back, don't be misled into thinking an overarching plot exists. Characters do recur and remember and act based on what went before, but the stories are largely episodic. Lack of an overarching plot is not a detriment here: it allows Fujishima to be more playful with his characters, and the whole cast is a lot of fun (though Urd often steals the page, as it were). Fujishima's art seems richer here, especially in the backgrounds. His mastery over his art style clearly developed as the series progressed; the differences between the very earliest art and this art are quite striking.

I know I know, this is one of the most sugar sweet manga series there is out there, but I just can't help myself. My heart just melts for the sweet Belldandy. In this volume Keiichi must race against an American couple to win money for his broke motor club. The race is quite interesting especially when Belldandy passes out from using too much of her energy. Also the motor club finds the Shinden a plane prototype thatw as made for WW II, but never made it to the air, but with Keiichi's help its dreams will come true. Also, Demon first class Mara makes her first appearance using Sayoko in a plot to foil whatever the goddesses do. The most interesting story in the book is the title story. Urd makes a love potion that she intends to give Keiichi and Belldandy, but Tamiya makes her drink it, Then she is falling into any guys' arms who metions cherry blossoms. Weird but wonderful stuff. kono manga yonde kudasai!

Hilarious!

Easily the best of the first three Goddess books, "Love Potion No. 9" is another fun-filled escapade through the world of Belldandy and Keiichi. As always, every character is designed with care -- even the despicable Sayoko has her own special charm. This ability to give each character individuality is Fujishima's greatest strength, and it's what sets him apart from other manga artists.

Every chapter in "Love Potion No.9" is delightful; Fujishima's gentle but wicked sense of humor can be found sprinkled throughout the pages. Urd's lovestruck rampage is simply wonderful, as is Belldandy's reaction to Sayoko's videocamera voyeurism. (I'm not saying anymore about it!) And of course, just wait until you get to meet the S&M club ...

This graphic novel contains five stories in the popular "Oh My Goddess" series. The life of Belldandy and Keiichi continues to be explored with a powerful new foe to interfere in their life together.

The first tale is about Sayoko and Aoshima's attempt to discover Belldandy's secret. The second tale is slightly longer and deals with Keiichi and Belldandy racing as a team for the Nekomi Tech Motor Club in an off road race. Meanwhile Aoshima attempts to prevent them from winning. The third story covers Aoshima's attacks on the Nekomi Tech Motor Club by opening his own club and destroying their club house. Belldandy discovers a buried Shinden experimental plane from WWII which the club must repair in time for the school festival.

The fourth tale has one of Urd's love potions backfiring on her with humorous results. The final tale is a longer one and introduces us to the demon Mara. Mara is out to prevent Urd and Belldandy from doing as they please on Earth and her target is Keiichi.

Bottom line: Another good graphic novel that is a must-have for OMG fans. The intoduction of Mara as a powerful foe to the goddesses is a good one.

Fujishima sensei's artwork is incredible! He has a deft touch with humor; presenting some truly risque things in a gentle way -- making you see the humor even as you agree with the characters' shock. There are some sweetly sentimental moments tucked away in these amusing tales and you'll enjoy each and every one. From here on out Dark Horse dutifully follows the original Japanese manga so if you want to find out where this story is taking you, you better start buying!

A fun little read.

In this, the second volume of "Oh My Goddess", Keiichi and Belldandy participate in a big race, Keiichi and his motor club pals must repair the airship 'Shiden II". Urd also experiments with a love potion with silly results. And we are introduced to the evil Demon.

The book contains "Oh My Goddess" Part I issues four and five, Part II issues six, seven, and eight, and "On a Wing and a Prayer" and "Love Potion #9".

As usual, "Oh My Goddess" has a undeniably charming cast of character. Belldandy is the cutest, kindest Goddess around, and Keiichi's timid nature only makes "Oh My Goddess" even more charming. Even Urd, who is is constantly trying to get Keiichi and Belldandy in bed, never got on my nerves.

The pace for the plot is great, espcailly in "The Secret's Out" and "What a Miracle". Suspense is involved, and the plot unravels quite well. "Love Potion No.9" didn't have that degree of storytelling, and it didn't need it. Instead it focuses on humor and choas.

In this volume, we meet Mara, the demon goddess, and Sayoko's desire for the elimination of Belldandy are revealed.

Anyone that enjoys comedy and is looking for an easy to read manga, marked with beautiful art, should get themself's a copy of "Oh My Goddess!". It's not as charming as the first one, but who cares?

Gaining control of "head" issues that impact you

I am one of some 185,000 men who annually become involved -- or ignore involvement -- when their wife or lover is diagnosed with breast cancer. This personal account of my experience with my wife, Sandy, provides counsel and guidance for men and women who want to gain the one thing they can control in this situation -- their own heads and thinking. It recounts the issues a man faces such as FUD (fear, undertainty and doubt), treatment options, communications, quality of life, sexuality, dealing with children, getting scared. For the 185,000 men who will encounter breast cancer in their wives or lovers this year -- and for the two more or more out there who have partners that were diagnosed earlier, it's a worthwhile 90-100 minutes to buzz through this book that's charged with emotion.

A good text for introductory CJ

My intro CJ class was assigned this textbook and about half of our test came out of assigned readings, so I spent a good deal of time with this book. I found the book to be professionally written yet easy to digest, even for a college freshman. It gets updated every year, but I compared my 1yr old text with the newer version a classmate had and almost nothing had changed besides these little real-world story blurbs that are spread throughout the book, so you could save some money that way.

I am very HAPPY!

I found this book, while currently enrolled at a local 2 year college in Criminal Justice,to be very helpful in explaining how the Criminal Justice system works, from early initiaion of law enforcement practices to modern day. There are many fascinating aspects to explore, and learn from within this text. It also helps to have an instructor that is knowledgeable with the text, so the teaching can be understood.

How educational it is

This book is very educational for those who are majoring or minoring in Criminal Justice. The book itself explains how the Criminal Justice works. In addition to this, the book helps you understand the laws. It also allows you to understand each and every law that the government of the United States has set. The author of this book seems to be very detailed and specific about every law and details of these. Another thing that makes this such a great book to any college student who has great interest in learning Criminal Justice is that it has great illustrations to explain the rights and wrongs of the law.
