My children loved this book! The illustrations are beautiful, and contain real feeling in the faces of the characters. Right away, my children picked up on the problem of the freckle and the compassion that Susie felt for him. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants to help their children find their own inner strength and beauty. If we all acted like little Susie, the world would be a much better place!

ones sees tons of these kinds of books at barnes and chernobyl, borders etc...but this one IS unique...first the reproduction quality (at least my edition) is excelent...the b&w drawings are on a more off-white background. the essay is very centered on the more PRIMAL elements of guaguin's mission. very good analysis of the IDOL (TIKI) and how it replaces GOD for gauguin. perhaps a good model for us all. yes, set up your shrine now in your own way and sweat off the accretions of western theology...now

This is a great book very well written and concise. I know this young man and the way he overcame his struggle is amazing and the inspiration he creates in young people is un-matched!

I used a much older edition of this book in high school (it had a brown cover way back then). This text was good suppliment to the hands-on projects we did in class. It taught about art basics like types of meduim, technique, and touched on artists, famous works, and how to look at art. This is a great text to ensure students develop and hold an interest, love and understanding of art.

Mark Coovelis weaves the story of "Gloria" in a spellbinding way. I read this book in one sitting. Coovelis's description of the East Oakland hill area was vivid and accurate of an era past. I enjoyed "Gloria" immensely.

Emily Haft Bloom has written a concise primer for Jewish families and others, who wish to learn about Jewish customs, rituals, major holidays, and the origins of the Jewish faith. Ms. Bloom also has included easy-to-follow recipes for traditional dishes.
This is a welcome and well-researched guide to good Jewish living.

This book offers some great advice from the Rosbergs who are know as America's Family Coaches. It is a perfect shower gift for the young couple getting married. The advice is very practical and honest. And, for the price, the information the Rosbergs provide is priceless.

I read this an undergraduate Scottish lit. seminar. And for years, it has been out of print. That was a terrible shame, not least of which because I now want my own students to read it! It's a gem of a novel, portraying the people of a small community, and their intertwined lives. It's also about the clash between tradition and modernity. George Mackay Brown had an amazing ear for dialogue, and an ability to weave complex tales. The people of Greenvoe are wonderful character studies. One of the greatest Scottish novels...
