I found this book to be a remarkable piece of art, stumbled upon by accident. I have never quite read a book that left you thinking about it's context with such depth and wonder. I find myself living in parallel with the story as if it were not a work of fiction! It really allows you to see the beauty of nature, family and life. If you want adventure that places you within the depths of a story, then you found the right one.

Very enlightening content poorly written in a New-Age daze.

This book is heralded by some to be the new artifact that has the answers to life. Whatever! Though the content is worth the reading and contemplation, do not be mislead by the motives of the author. This is yet another piece of New-Age material that too many trees have been wasted on.

There is a real message in the book that I believe Redfield happened to stumble upon by accident, or perhaps he heard of true spiritual accounts and tried to immitate them in this book. Keep your wits about you, and be discerning. He should have left these lessons to be taught by those who have had these experiences, or to a real author, who would have put the information across much, much more effectively.

As I said before, find the truth in the book, because it is worth the few bucks, but do it only if you are able to ignore the money-making scheme of it.

Before I checked this book out from the library, I thought I was going to have to actually enroll in a theological program to study Revelation without the overwhelming biases of today's popular Christian culture. After rechecking it 3 times over a period of 2 months, I finally broke down and decided to buy it.

It is the singular best book I have found on end-times prophecy. Haggith strikes a balance I have rarely found in any Christian book, much less one on end-times. There is enough bible history and cross-referencing to give each passage a full context without turning it in a dry, scholarly "reference" book that never gets read. Contrary to an earlier reviewer, I did find it to be a "page-turner" as Haggith managed to draw me, in an intelligent, unemotional way, into the *story* of John's vision in a way no other book ever has.

More importantly, Haggith offers the Truth in a simple, unassuming way. There is no agenda, and hardly any "eschatological" jargon. He simply presents the passages, some possible conclusions, and makes sure to throw in the constant reminder that we can never really know for sure, lest we defeat the whole point of prophecy.

A wonderful book for anyone looking for something more than the end-times "soundbites" we tend to get in church. I would recommend this to readers from all denominations, and seekers looking for an intelligent discussion of one of the most visible Christian doctrines.

i can't stop reading this one. it has so much information on jewish and christian history. it weaves thru time linking many theories of past events and future possibilities. the author does not claim to have all the answers. he just gives facts. that is what i like best.

David Haggith's gift to us is a scholarly compendium of end time prophecies of the Bible. The book is basically a history book, alternating between history and references from the Bible that contain some type of apocalyptic message. On occasions one gets the feeling that Haggith is stretching history to fit the prophecy, but generally speaking he avoids this trap.

This book is very very good. To have made it excellent, I would have liked some discussion of the end time genesis itself. Why was there so much obsession with end time philosophies? How did the Jews compare with other cultures in this regard? How did the philosophies change over time? etc.

This book is written so well that almost anyone will enjoy the contents. Familiarity with the Old Testament and Jewish culture in general will make it even more valuable.

Well worth your while

This book is fun to read, which must have been difficult to write, considering the subject matter. David Haggith is REFRESHING to read in that he doesn't have some preconceived dogma to shove down your throat, nor does he seem manipulated by some denominational hierarchy. He expresses a lot of understanding without beating you with his knowledge or lofty verbage. In other words, he seems like a real person talking to real people about written prophecies and what they could mean. Do you realize how hard it is to find end-times books that come from that perspective?

Read it. You'll be rewarded. Some things you'll agree with, some things, maybe not. Either way, you'll sense a man writing with far more humility than you'll find in those, "The world is going to end tomorrow, don't miss the rapture" books. The issues he grapples with are far too spiritual and complex to be sorted by snippets and sound bites. It takes a lot of work and study. Start with this book. Don't rush. Don't read it in front of the TV.

As for the fact that he used the King James text, I think it adds to the quaintness of the book. Prophecies are ancient, and the Authorized Text gives them that feel. Anyway, you can check the text in any of the myriad of newer translations out there.

We discriminating readers need to reward this kind of writing by buying it.

Simply stated, DAVID HAGGITH has written the most exhaustive and spiritually mature book on eschatology that I have encountered. About five years ago, a gentleman who owned a mobile bookstore expressed his appreciation for me by insisting that I select any item from his stock. I had not heard of David Haggith, but because of my deep interest in Bible study, his tome, 'END-TIME PROPHECIES OF THE BIBLE' caught my eye. I can tell you without hesitation that I would have been every bit as pleased with my choice even if I had paid full price.

The first question that will be raised by people Biblically aware, but a bit naive is : Why study the Last Days when Jesus said that they will arrive like a thief in the night; no one knows the day or the hour of their coming, and they could be far into the future? There are several ideas to take into consideration here. First -- Jesus said, "Of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven." (Matt. 24:36) Note that He spoke specifically of days and hours, not necessarily decades or years. HAGGITH says on page 121 that looking at it this way is "being hyperliteral." I don't think so. Jesus chose His words carefully. Furthermore, what might have been unforeseeable two thousand years ago, may be quite perceivable now. Also, if it was still going to be unpredictable even when the age was nearly upon us, why did Jesus bother giving His closest apostles clues to watch for? In Matthew 24 & Mark 13, The Master tells Peter, James, John and Andrew the signs (situations) that will be prevalent on the Earth and related to the end of the world (AS WE KNOW IT!) and His imminent return. Why did He go to the trouble to elucidate the scenario if NO ONE would be capable of discerning the time? And He even concluded with the admonition, "What I say to you, I say to all : Watch!"

Significantly, the Old Testament book of Daniel (also concerned with eschatology) closes with another indication that as the time draws near, at least some of God's people will have foreknowledge of the timing of Tribulation events : And the angel said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified...and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand." (Dan. 12:9,10 - NKJV) It makes sense then to study this subject, especially since several Biblical prophecies concerned with the timing of these momentous events indicate that we are about to enter into the age in question. (Even if Mr. Haggith does not overtly make such a bold statement.)

There are many books on the market that address this subject; most all of them in a more sensationalistic manner. But HAGGITH's approach is very sensible and evinces a highly developed spiritual understanding. His respect for God's Word, and his humility is evident throughout the book. For example, on page 408 he states, "Judgment, as St. John's Gospel emphasizes, is going on all the time throughout our earthly existence." That would appear to be a basic premise, but one you will find eluding many of the more well-known Christian commentators! On page 450, Haggith observes that, "Humility comes from confidence in the goodness and justice and love of God." There is much wisdom in his writing that goes beyond a strict adherence to the book's primary theme. His equating the patterns of Biblical truth and prophecies with fractals, and his observation that, "Jesus never did a miracle that wasn't a metaphor for spiritual truth" are just two more examples of his great insight, no doubt derived from a warm association with The Holy Spirit. END-TIME PROPHECIES OF THE BIBLE also has a wonderfully extensive index that will make it easy for the reader to refer back to certain topics at a later date.

DAVID HAGGITH also understands the necessity to refrain from inflexible positions when exploring the nature of Biblical prophecy. This idea, and his personal humility shine through in this excerpt from page 459 :

"Simply linking passages as I've done in this book can distort meaning if the wrong links are forged. If the reader sees a more natural fit for any prophecy than where it has been placed, he or she should explore that connection...It's best to keep one's opinions about God's revelation fluid and allow the God who makes all things new to shape one's opinions over time and to reshape oneself in the process. A dogmatic stance on words the Bible, itself, describes as ultimate mysteries belittles the greatness of God. It presumptuously assumes that the human mind can fully comprehend God's mysteries."

END-TIME PROPHECIES OF THE BIBLE is a very thorough, thought-provoking, open-minded, and scholarly study. I am normally stingy with my 5-Star rating, but I am awarding the top grade to Haggith's study because, as far as I know, it is the best book of its kind. If you are very serious about exploring the Bible, and seek publications that will help you to develop the capacity to examine theological concepts from a variety of perspectives, this book will surely be a welcome addition to your personal library. Other than Salvation, it's the best thing that I ever got for free!

Mr Oakland has been known to be "uninvited" to speak to some modern religious gatherings because he insists on speaking the Truth and using scripture passages to remind us of what the Bible really says.

If you have been wrinkling your forehead and wondering at the doctrines and opinions coming from the "emerging church", this book will help you remember why many things sounded strange to you. It will also encourage you to continue in your own study so as not to be led astray.

This is a very informative book, and I think it is the most important book that Roger Oakland has written. It opened my eyes to some of the things that are going on today, and I highly recommend it.

From what I have observed, it seems common for Emerging Church followers to say that those who critique The Emerging Church are "taking things out of context", yet I have never heard ANY of them tell what is being taken out of context. It just seems to be their standard response (a cop-out) when they can't give an honest defense for what they believe.

So I recommend that people check out this book before believing any accusations that have been made about Roger Oakland. He critiques The Emerging Church in a very fair manner, and unless anyone can tell him what is being taken out of context, his stance will rightly remain the same.

For much more info on this subject, also check out a page on my website titled "Resources On The Emerging Church". You can click on my profile to find a link to my website.

I read this book because it was given to me..and I promptly used it as kindling in my fireplace. I am confused as to what Bible that the author uses...because mine says Christ told the apostles that "this is my Body given up for you" as he broke bread, and said "this is my Blood, which was shed so all can be forgiven"....if you want to parse words or meaning, take it up with Christ. The Catholic Church simply does what Christ asks us all to do and resists altering His Word and by keeping the faith as it was when Christ asked the Apostles to continue to grow the faithful. It seems to me that by bashing another Christian Faith, that YOU are not keeping Christ's commandment..that you love one another!! The Catholic Church has kept the faith as Christ left it, and plans to keep it that way until Christ returns in Glory! I don't know what faith Mr. Oakland belongs to, but you can be sure his church history can be counted in days, not centuries!

The story focuses on Simon, a young, married father-to-be on the verge of his college graduation. Then he starts having weird dreams and inexplicable blackouts. Doctors can't explain it and he thinks it might have something to do with his current stress levels as well as the unsolved murder of his uncle, the priest.

Though he has given up his faith, Simon turns to a pair of priests who knew his uncle, in the hope that they can help him with his bizarre blackouts. Eventually, he discovers that he is a part of an little known prophecy that will have immense implications for Christianity and the world.

I personally love stories that blend Christianity and fiction and LeCara does it well. He creates a wholly believable scenario and then delivers the goods in a superbly written climax that will leave you, like some of the characters, wondering what in the world just happened. And I mean that in a good way!

LeCara writes believable good characters and some unbelievably nasty, evil ones. I'm not certain which is the more malevolent: the man who is possessed or the man who simply wants to use his religion for his own gain. In either case, LeCara creates several truly evil characters.

My only criticism is that in attempting to portray his characters as realistic, they sometimes come off as, well, jerks. But that is a pretty forgivable flaw.

I very much enjoyed The Forgotten Prophecy and I am certainly looking forward to seeing what Ray LeCara Jr. has in store in the future.

I read THE FORGOTTEN PROPHECY in one sitting - that's how fast it moves and how it grips you. LeCara tosses up a number of balls in the air and keeps juggling them to an apocalyptic ending, a mixture of spiritual, horrific and action-packed story telling. That the novel deals with the Catholic Church, a godless pope, ruthless evil and matters on a vast, mystical scale doesn't hurt one bit.

There are many books on the market today with a theme about the end of the world as we know it. None of them are as thought provoking as Ray LeCara's 'The Forgotten Prophecy' It was easy to identify with the characters because they could be you and me. The lapse in faith, the undying hope; the belief that there really could be something bigger than us, these are things we all struggle with. I loved this book because it was scary (don't start it at night!) and amazing.

December 25th 1967: The Pope's Christmas festivities are interrupted by a visit from Sister Maria, a nun who has been condemned as a heretic. Yet she is still granted an audience with the Pope - why? The Pope needs to see her because he knows that what she has to say is important. She warns him of a prophecy - a forgotten prophecy - one that reminds him of the ultimate battle of good and evil that is still to come, and that no one will be safe while it rages.

Thirteen years later, a young man named Simon Free is faced will the usual pressures of becoming a married man, with a child on the way, who is still in college. Thinking that is all that is troubling him, he starts to experience black outs. Assuming the episodes are just from stress due to the prospect of becoming a father without any source of income, he tries to put these black outs to the back his mind, but as they become more and more frequent, he seeks medical advice. Simon soon finds that doctors cannot help him and, being a man who has lost his faith, it is with some reluctance that he seeks the help and guidance of a priest. It is only through regaining his faith that he discovers who he is and what he needs to do in the mighty battle that rages around him.

The Forgotten Prophecy is the debut novel from Ray LeCara, Jr. It is an engaging story with many original ideas. Fans of this sort of fiction will be used to the devil or "The Evil One" trying to force his way into politics and occupy the corridors of power (as in The Omen,) with the ultimate goal of becoming the president of the United States. This is where LeCara's story veers from the norm. After all, why would "The Evil One" try to inhabit the White House? Why would he not try to corrupt from within and infiltrate the Vatican? Think about it - most laws are based in religion, and who do such powers consult, when in a difficult situation - their minister or their priest!

The Forgotten Prophecy, is a gripping and promising debut - in sum, truly a great beginning to LeCara's saga. We have only one minor criticism - the fact that "The Evil One" is trying to infiltrate the Vatican is a wonderful and novel concept, but Spinetinglers felt that it was not exploited to its full potential. Hopefully, this will be corrected in the second instalment and we at Spinetinglers look forward to reading it!

The plot is interesting, but there are far too many errors throughout the entire book. I could have really enjoyed this book had it been properly edited and proofread. As it is I force myself to go on in spite of the errors in grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc. (style). This is a framework story (a story within a story), but the inner story is often so unnecessarily detailed that I sometimes find myself needing to force my memory of the main plot. Much of the inner story could have been condensed, perhaps in summary form.

"Our Lady of Dreams" is a well-written mystery that cleverly weaves two story lines, told from different points of view. Duvall definitely challenges his readers to think and feel and his commitment to detail is outstanding. The story line twist at the end is a great way to tie the stories together and will keep you thinking long after the final page! Highly recommended for both the open-minded thinker and those willing to explore their spirituality.

Chanson Duvall's novel, Our Lady of Dreams: A prophecy for the new age is the unique combination of a page turning murder mystery and a powerful message about the future of mankind. As the plot moves through a murder and ensuing trial, the book simultaneously brings the reader up to speed on the very important choices that each person must make to determine the future of the world.

I had just finishd reading Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth" when someone suggeted I red "Our Lady of Dreams". At first I was skeptical that a novel could give me any glimpse into the dimensions of consciousness and 'Presence' that Tolle alludes to in this book. "Our Lady of Dreams" drew me in sloly and even as I was engrossed in the story line, a peacefulness fell upon me that I had never experienced before and it was there immediately whenever I picked up the book. It was as though the writer was reaching out and blessing me with a view into higher states of consciousness where mind meets 'otherness'. Most of the main characters are day to day ordinary people who have stumbled upon the divine realms that many great spiritual teachers of all traditions have spoken about. I felt I was present with Thomas as he experienced the opening of each chakra and as he ascended into the divine light. At the same time, I was still in the 'ordinary' world of Kathernie as she experienced her small insighful 'openings' and moments of 'no-thing-ness'. Now I am curious if the author's predictions will come true for humanity. Even with its few technical flaws, it's a beautiful piece of mystical work which I believe one day will become a classic in mystical literature. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants insight into the world Tolle and others are talking aobut in this current world surge for spiritual kowledge and awakening.

Crime thrillers are often predictable, with one-dimensional characters and trite writing. That is not the case with Chanson Duvall's new novel, "Our Lady of Dreams." His clever prose and masterful wording make even the most unusual coincidences seem possible, the most outrageous ideas seem plausible, and the most surprising twists appear believable.

"Our Lady of Dreams" purports to be written by Katherine Marconi, neophyte prosecutor in the L.A. District Attorney's office. When she lands the coveted assignment of a high-profile murder, she is shocked to discover the man brutally killed is her estranged brother, John Paul.

It is a credit to Duvall's remarkable and often beautiful writing, that the reader feels the agony of Marconi's loss nearly as painfully as Marconi. The reader longs to help her solve the crime and the mystery behind her brother's murder.

Duvall's characters are textured. John Paul, the estranged brother, intended to be a priest and instead became a well known religious guru, perhaps a saint. Falling under his spell is the rising star football player accused of his murder, Thomas.

Much of the novel is written as portions of Thomas' diary. The reader feels almost as if they are eavesdropping on private thoughts - and intimate secrets.

A layer is added to the story in Thomas' request that his diary be published within 10 years of his death. You feel the urgency in the words written by Duvall (as Marconi) to share the message in time.

Take the spiritual twists and turns, add a strongly crafted love story between Marconi and the lead detective in the case, pepper in a hidden secret - and Duvall's masterpiece equals an engaging delight the reader will not be able to put down until the crime - and accompanying mysteries - are solved. The carefully crafted words linger on the readers mind much less like your standard crime drama, and much more like a touching work of art.

"Our Lady of Dreams" certainly makes a lovely summer beach read, but this thought provoking and breathtaking work is much more than a standard thriller. It is elegant, tasteful, and stays with the reader long after the last page has turned. The cover on this book is closed much too quickly.

Over the previous 10 years or so I've read a number of Rick's books and journal writings. Each making various claims to having 'spiritual " insight and giving "prophetic" revelations. Trouble is if you actually check up on some of Rick's actual previous predictions /teachings you come up with a bad track record. For instance Joyner predicted in that 1989 that the chinese communist party would fall very soon. ( In fact it's grown stronger) Or in the early 90's that limited nuclear weapons would be exchanged in the next Iraqi war ! Given no-one can even find WMD,another mistaken prediction. No-where in his book does he address these failings .

As for Rick's discerment, you only have to look at the man he constantly promoted over the past 15 years as the new breed of the prophetic , Paul Cain . Recently it was been publically revealed the depths of bondage the man was addicted to and the deep spiritual darkness he was in . If Rick couldn't even "see" the problems that one of his own fellow ministers has , how can he say he's gifted in a discerning ministry ? It really saddens me to write this review, but at some point you have to speak out and say when someone is mistaken in their claims and is not promoting a true prophetic calling.

This book is outstanding, I can't say enough about it. The wisdom Rick Joyner has is very special, and he shares this wisdom through many aspects of the Christian life. This book will challenge and prepare you for the days ahead. Highly recommended.

This is a great book. Scripture is frequently quoted to support excellent and insightful views. The book was written just before Y2K and is remarkably correct in predicting what seems to be the current (2002) state of the US economy. If you are at all interested in the responsibilities and future of today's churches, this is a must read and must act guide.

This book was quite an eye opener for me. Although I have felt that there were those from other planets visiting here, I had never thought of others who lived here as having come from other planets. I like this authors books and feel she has a real gift of writing things as she experienced them. I am hoping there might be more books written by her in the future.

As a devout catholic, some of the ideas presented in the book provoked the teachings that was thought to me in church. It is thought-provoking and does contain a detailed explanation of each of the ten commandments. Although I do not agree with all of her thoughts, I think most of them are reasonable and make sense. I recommend this book to be read since it does contain some information that is valuable to all. However, I do warn those devout catholics that this book contains some ideas that go against some of the teachings that we were taught. It is your decision whether to accept it and integrate it to your life or whether to think of it as a mere opinion of an author.

Honestly, I do not know what to think. She presents some interestign thoughts but of course, I do have some skeptism. Maybe later in my life I will find out if all her words speak true but for now, I am skeptical but will heed some of the ideas that she presented in this book.

Words cannot describe how you will feel when you are "loosened" from the ever tightening bonds of man made religion and back into the hands of your Creator. No writer has ever touched me the way Mary Summer Rain has, right down to my soul. I struggle now to find her books that are out of print that I just must get my hands on! I feel any message of hers is humble and heartfelt and worth reading over and over again. Each time you re-read them, you will find something there that you did not recall. Bottom Line-she portrays a world we all want and yearn for and instills us with hope that we will, one day, reach just that.

A Bit Disappointed...

After reading "Spirit Song" last week, I was quite excited to find out about this book written by the same author - in fact, I ordered it as soon as I became aware of its existence, and since it's no longer in print, I even chose to purchase a used copy (something I don't like to do too often).

I received the book today, and anxiously began reading it. However, within the first chapter, I was already beginning to feel a tinge of disappointment.

"The Visitation" is about Mary Summer Rain's visit from an archangel "of the Most High", and the info./warning that was received. It mainly focuses on the 10 commandments, and how man has distorted their meaning - not taking the time to really THINK about what they were meant to impart.

The parts I was disappointed with are:

1. Summer seems to continually look down on the people of today - as if all, or most, couldn't care less about God. I don't agree with this, as I believe that people DO care, but many think it's wrong to think for themselves, to choose their own belief systems. They've been taught from early on that to question is to sin.

2. Summer seemed to insinuate that the books written by the other "messengers" of our time are inaccurate & filled with "glitz". It sounded as if someone received a message that differed from hers, than that person was writing from their ego, and therefore, it's not truth.

My belief is that God has brought many different messages to many different people - not everyone is on the same page, so not everyone would be ready for the same message. My thought is that you'll know the truthfulness of the message by the "fruit that it bears" - so, if it's message of unconditional love &/or other positive "traits", then it's worth considering & pondering over.

3. Mary Summer Rain eludes continuously to major problems in her family life that preceeded this visit, but she never goes into any detail. I kept waiting to get an understanding of these problems, since she would bring them up in a very general manner often - but it was never to be. I would have preferred her to either not mention it at all, or just make a very general statement in the beginning & then just let it go. I can understand that she may not want to lay bare her soul to her readers - but, if that's the case, it would have been better to just not mention it at all.

Overall, I think this book does contain some important insights, but they tend to get clouded by the negative judgements that appear all too often. So, although I REALLY hate to do it, I feel that I have to give this book a "3" rating - I just wouldn't feel comfortable giving it any more or less.

Despite fundamentalist Christian prejudice, any book that interprets the meanings of the stars and planets for life on earth is ASTROLOGY! And astrologers are not sinners, the Bible is filled with astrological references and symbolism that only a student of astrology would recognize. The Book of Revelation in particular is loaded with astrological symbolism. And don't forget, that the 3 Magi who first visited the Christ child, were Astrologers!!

E.W. Bullinger, a scholar of scholars has touched my life with his Figures of Speech in the Bible and Numbers in Scripture - a must for any serious Bible student. And with his "Witness of the Stars" he has shown GOD's grand design is before our eyes in a narrated story that 'all the world has seen'.

How thrilling it was to discover Amazon had 'The Witness of the Stars,' available for review. Published posthumously, the work displays the integrity of E.W. Bullinger's efforts to apply several major disciplines of scholarship as he introduces this edifying unveiling of God's Glory proclaimed across the sky. Mr. Bullinger entered the Lord's presence nearly a century ago in 1913!

'The Witness of the Stars,' provides scholastic, historical, and Biblical insight into God's own testimony as to the past, present and future of mankind. What a wind of refreshment in a world seemingly helpless and out of control.

A first mention of the thesis that God has written the Gospel in the Stars was introduced to this reviewer while in Bible School, 1975-76, by since graduated Evangelist Lester Roloff. Mr. Roloff had been inspired to examine this field partly because, as a traveling evangelist, he actually flew his own plane from meeting to meeting. He testified to ever being humbled during night flights across the earth. Having been introduced through Scripture's own declarations concerning God's setting the Heavens to declare His Glory, Psalm 19:1, Mr. Roloff went on to pen his findings.

And then how encouraging to read the reviews already given. Only the first handful of entries were able to be perused, yet, they proved the depths discerned on a mere first reading of 'Witness.' This book is a must purchase for any seeking truth.

One reading simply whets the appetite to discover and plumb the depths of Mr. Bullinger's myriad offerings.

Kudos to Amazon for making this book on eternal truth available to the world. Salutations to all in the Lord that have confirmed one's own impressions were in perspective.

To God be the Glory!

I bought this book a number of years ago for apologetics purposes-- While I would agree with other reviewers that it holds a high view of Scripture, and the book definitely represents a lot of research, I think that the approach to symbology used here can be problematic. The entire book is a study of constellations, and how they display the Gospel in the Stars. While this is an interesting study I think there a oouple of underlying problems with this approach.
1. Constellations and star names are simply assignments that man has assigned to stars. Usually pagan cultures in association with their pagan mythology. Although this does not completely undermine such a study it does call it into question.
2. A second more serious problem is the same problem which underlies numerology and other allegorical approaches-- they can often be made to say anything the author even while at the same time appearing scholarly.
Those looking for apologetics in the cosmos should consider investigating the "anthropic principle" which tracks evidence of God's design of the universe. One such book would be "Show me God" by Fred Hereen. In terms of our faith, In my opinion, God's Word itself furnishes a lifetime of study without engaging in speculation of symbols which we really can't prove one way or the other.

Reading this book through was a chore that put me to sleep any number of times. Granted, I fall asleep easily, so this should not reflect on the excellent quality of the information contained. The writing style is somewhat out of date, and the author's tendency to break into preaching or praise tended to be distracting.

Nonetheless, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what God originally intended for constellations and stars to mean. There is a ton of information here, symbology, astronomy, and theology.

Pranic illusion! 2012 the soul will move closer to the human form than ever before and thats it! What will happen is that truth will arise and manifest in ways it never could before and this will come in the form of a rise in illness/disease. (particularly mental as it is already) Why? because what is held emotionally and not healed will manifest itself within the body to be released. The soul is about truth. No glamour or illusion or pandering

Trust no teaching (or channelling)that first doesn't tell you that there exists pranic light and soulful light (illusion/soul) or that you are not first a soulful being! or any modality that wishes to place its energy within you, or move you from your centre of stillness.

Hungry for His Presence and Prophetic Gifts

I have felt the potential for the prophetic calling on my life so I really wanted to get down to the core questions surrounding prophecy. Rather than going into a how-to manual which you might expect from a book entitled "The Beginner's Guide," Jack Deere describes his journey from a skeptic to a firm believer reassuring our readers that the prophetic voice of God is just as loud today as it was 2,000 years ago. Reading the testimonies of how God spoke through His prophets made me intensify my prayers to God in accordance with Paul when he encourages us to actively seek the gift of prophesy. I highly recommend this book to those of you who want a better understanding of prophesy along with an increased desire for this gift from the Holy Spirit.

I have read other books about Prophecy and honestly most have been quacky and out of line with Christian scripture. Jack Deer's book was great, he explains what true Prophecy is, the good, the bad and the humiliating aspect of it. I can not stress how informative yet entertaining this book was. He is a very good writer and by the end of the book you have a feel for his character and personality. The book never contradicts the Bible and is well worth reading.

Although I am now leery of some of Deere's associations mentioned in this book (maybe Deere is too?) the book containes very good, strong, practical advice. Approach is simple and straightforward. Also useful for one's personal walk with the Lord and learning to hear, understand and apply when the Lord is speaking to one's heart. I found it and continue to find it to be most helpful.

Level 2 Reading/Studying Scholarship from Pastor/Professor Deere...

Awesome, practical, balanced, scholarly, warm, positive, handbook on developing the gift of prophecy; from a former fundamentalist scholar/professor (OT; Dallas Seminary). Must reading if God has gifted you in the prophetic, or you want to pursue the gift; with case studies, personal experiences, insights Dr. Deere got from being up close to heavy-weight and life-long prophetic persons. Shows how to activate and start developing in the prophetic without becoming offensive, weird, intrusive, negative, out of control, etc. Any church would enjoy having the prophetically-gifted in their midst if Deere's inspired guidelines were followed. Bishop Pytches said of Jack's scholarship (and I completely concur): 'This wise, balanced, very readable and practical book from a Bible-loving academic is full of common sense, healthy warnings and correctives, encouragements and illustrations...one of the best I have read.'

Dr. Deere is the balanced, savvy, and hi-IQ scholar you were looking for to help move you out of the "Bible's yellowed pages" into a supernatural walk of hearing and living under the 24/7 coaching/voice of God, without openly offending, becoming unbalanced in over-emphasis on emotion/experience over the authority of Scripture. Must reading for anyone "surprised by the voice of God/surprized by the power of the Spirit."

Addendum: Plan A Cessationalist Group: "Gifts like this ceased in 1st century." Plan B Charismatic Group: "Yeah, they may have ceased on a experientially-my church level; but have always been available theologically."

Plan C: "Ready or not, I AM GONNA Interrupt You End-Time People: regardless of your personal view; power gifts breaking out all over, World-Wide; on all groups/peoples/positions, as tools, tech, and equipment to prep you for the final harvest / roundup....followed by unpleasant news and views in the skies and heavens above; days of the comet of Revelation 8.7 - 9.2, and Luke 21.25-36...." -- CEO; Joel 2.28-32

As the "End-Times" Group, don't be shocked @ what's coming; when it strikes, be savvy: SADDLE UP AND "get ready, Get Ready, GET READY" FOR MAJOR DISPLAY OF POWER GIFTS TO INTERRUPT AND BREAK LOOSE IN YOUR FELLOWSHIP; to facilitate some unfinished Cowboys work of rounding up and roping in all those mavericks and strays of Luke 14.22-24; John 9.4; 10.16; Joel 2.28-32...meandering and browsing over there near the edge of the cliff....
