Edward Ahearn, honored University Professor at Brown University, here commits to paper subjects he has examined through reading and teaching. To deal with the visionary, he makes the obligatory stop through Blake, whose fiery social conscience and mythological incoherence made him the template for future literary "visionaries": Nerval and Lautreamont among the French; Burroughs; and the voices of Dadaism and Surrealism. As some of these writings are impenetrably concentrated, and outright antagonistic towards the reader, it is Ahearn's task to bridge the reader and these fictions, in order to communicate his own analyses of them. This task he handles with the same directness and precision of his college lectures, along with the exactness of a critic who presupposes some familiarity with these texts. As a work of criticism and of writing, an achievement

I have some of the other "Mysteries Of The Unknown" TIME-LIFE Books and I've found all of 'em equally fascinating. This particular book makes you think about the way you think. It's a bit philosophical. Great diagrams of fortune telling methods used. Covers Nostradamus to Jeane Dixon, ha. Great Book.

This book is well researched and writen. I like the anecdots that give spiritual insight into everyday events. It shows a fresh view of what Revelation means to us today. Instead of talking about the future endtimes, the book helps me understand more about God and Satan. Walking through Revelation gives practical ways to live a Christian life and ways to pray. This is a good commenatary on Revelation. It challenged my thinking and cleared up some of the mysteries in the book of Revelation.

I thought the book was great and very well written. The author has a distinct style which is very direct and to the point. He makes his argument and presents the facts in a very valid and direct way. I am used to history books that are often long winded and focus on drawing out only a few facts. Mr. Charles takes the approach of laying all the facts on the table and telling it the way that it is. Again very well written and a nice change from the norm of "put you to sleep" history books.

Right at the onset of reading this work I could tell that author Bonnie Bell truly loved the Lord and His Word. Her passion for both were evident from the first word written to the last in this work, "Welcome To Armageddon."
In her book the author takes us on a spiritual journey through the Scriptures from the time of Noah to the end of ages. She carefully explains Scriptures as she understands them and gives insight to the reader of events from the past and those of the future and the how's and why's they have had and will have upon the earth and its people.
She helps the reader to understand the importance of a personal walk with the Lord and a revelation of His Word working in their lives.
Not all will agree with every revelation of the Word that Ms.Bell proclaims, but I feel all those interested in where mankind has been and where they are going will gleam nuggets of treasures from this work that they can incorporate into their lives and use in their walk with the Lord. Thank you Ms.Bell

provocative, complete explanation of the Book of Revelation
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 1999-06-21
Wes McComb is a dear friend and devout Christian, who has written a provocative book in the long line of people of faith who have seen the Book of Revelation as a direct message for their own times. The book is written with wit, and humility, and asks us to see the glory of Jesus Christ throughout "Revelation," no matter what else we may or may not see in it. Wes' humility allows him to admit readily that he may be "joining the thousands" who have been mistaken about this fascinating, apocalyptic book. He is also correct in noting, as I can tell you from my own experience, that "your agreement with [his] views is not required for you to find fulfillment in this book." (p.1) With painstaking detail, the author works through "Revelation," chapter by chapter, finding and discerning explanations for the often-confusing symbolism and numerology. With a sense of history, and concern for our future under God, he guides us to understand, at the least, that God is involved in all of our world affairs, outward appearances notwithstanding. Perhaps most controversial is the author's fascinating, unique conviction that the "sixth seal" will be opened this year, 1999, with a nuclear holocaust. Whether or not that actually happens, "When All Heaven Breaks Loose" will challenge you to see and think about things in a new way, and to remember the truth that the book of "Revelation," shows us the glory of Jesus, and that the bottom line is: Jesus wins.
