The Child of Prophecy, the first in the young adult spin off of The Fall of the Imperium saga, is absolutely wonderful. For a character briefly introduced in the debut adult novel, this brings a lot of depth and color and can only enhance the full reading pleasure of all of Cliff's books. Read it before or read it after, it's a great compliment to The Impending Storm and the subsequesnt stories.

I absolutely recommend it.

I had met the author at Noreascon last year, and after reading The Impending Storm, I was quite impressed (see my review under that listing). I was hoping to get Book 2, but it wasn't out yet. I read some of the information on the publisher's website (www.SilverLeafBooks.com if you need it), and considered trying the "young adult" series. I'm in my 30's, so the thought of buying something geared for teens made me hesitate, but I did breakdown and order the three books available. It may sound cliche, but boy am I glad I did!

Book 1 (The Child of Prophecy) and Book 2 (The Awakening) have certain elements that were familiar after reading The Impending Storm. But, Bowyer expanded upon the Kyria / Kai storyline, giving us a broader background and more detail. Even though a lot was similar, I did not feel like I was reading the same thing again and again.

The books were all only 192 pages, which made it a bit longer than some of the other Young Adult books that I have to admit I've read over the years (such as the various Star Wars Y.A. books). However, they were quick paced, grabbed my attention, and definitely helped fill in some of the gaps (not that The Impending Storm left a lot of gaps, but these books definitely brought out more of the series and displays Bowyer's brilliance at being able to juggle both without making it seem repetitive to people that read both).

I strongly recommend this book and series to you. You won't be disappointed!

An awesome explanation of what a Prophet is and what a Prophet's function is. It gives a clear indication of what a Prophet's place is in the church and reveals the Church's need for the Prophet today. If you've ever wondered about what being a Prophet is all about, get this book!

This books gives a balance, logical introduction to the Prophets and the prophetic. It gives sound biblical reasons for why they still exist today, why we need them, and how they benefit the local church. She defines them so well that I challenge anyone to read it who does not believe in Prophets or only think they are cooks who roam around the church speaking funny and shaking.
This presentation will enlightend and change your thinking.
Even all you contemporary theologians out there.

This is the most comprehensive book on the Prophetic and the Office of the Prophet. I dream a lot, and the Spirit of God talks to me about things. I didn't know what was going on. I knew that I had been called to the ministry, but I didn't know what my ministry was. This book has helped to clarify many questions that I have had over the years. I found myself on every page of this book. It helped me to find my place in the body of Christ. Packed with God inspired revelation, those with any prophetic gifting will find direction while reading this book. The number one question asked by all people is who am I?
Read this book and YOU JUST MIGHT FIND OUT!!!

Being somewhat impatient a book must grab my attention immediately, or it goes on the shelf. This book did just that, infact to the point one day that I opened my business late because I could'nt put it down. Intriguing story, Fascinating characters, great twist. My only problem now is having to wait for the next edition. A MUST READ. GG CT. USA

I thought I would just be reading about witches, but it's really about women and men and family and religion and freedom and oppression and love and hate and sacrifice and purpose of life and death. The ending is absolutely mind blowing!

The Cinderella Prophecy by Edana Lir juxtaposes a group of eccentric women with college students to explore the dynamics of conflict within us all. She adroitly poses questions that we all need to answer. But these questions are difficult and sometimes scary. Lir urbanely illuminates a dark pathway and gently walks us down the road towards the answers though. I'll be anxiously awaiting her next book.

High quality printing and most helpful commentary

Review Date: 2004-02-02
This wonderful volume contains what are referred to as Blake's Continental Prophecies. They are: "America", "Europe", and "The Song of Los". The last has two sections called "Africa" and "Asia" and is by far the shortest.

They are all beautifully illustrated and the first plate in "Europe" is probably the most famous image from Blake's illuminated works - the bearded white man kneeling and reaching down out of the sun with the measuring compass. "The Song of Los" is also full of beautifully colored images. The "America" plates are monochrome although a couple of colored plates are shown in the supplementary plates.

Since "America" has 18 plates and "Europe" 17 and "Los" 8, it follows that most of the volume's 367 pages are filled with commentary, notes, and supplementary material. This helps a lot because these prophecies are part of Blake's rather opaque personal mythology. Scholars have filled shelves with conjecture about what it all means and they do have some good notions, but it is tough sledding without the background material to ease the way. This is a great edition and will be a treasure on the bookshelf of all who love the works of William Blake.

Fantastic, beautiful edition!

I recommend that any fan of William Blake buy this volume and the other 5 in the series. The books are beautiful, large, and handsomely bound. Each book is reproduced in full color, using a six-color printing process rather than the standard four. The pages are heavy, opaque and have a gorgous lustre indicating very high quality paper. The text of each book accompanies the color reproductions in standard typeface with very competent commentary to boot.

A must have!

Blake's work must be read in reproduction. An engraver by trade, Blake revolutionized book production with his "infernal method" of engraved illumination, hand-crafting each book. In the Continental Prophesies, Blake revolutionizes historiography; _America_'s retelling of the American Revolution, for instance, juxtaposes Washington and Paine with Orc and Urizen, fact with myth, to produce something that powerfully transcends the dull round of history. The accompanying illuminations cannot be omitted-- they do not simply illustrate the text, but ILLUMINATE it, supplementing and counter-pointing. And Blake's art is awesome. The Blake Trust's series is superb, conveniently transcribing the handwritten text of the engraved text on the adjacent page, offering important visual variations between versions of the book, and amply providing comprehensive glosses (in seperate sections, both interpretative and contextual) on each plate/page visually and textually. It is expensive to buy the entire series, but one MUST have Blake's illuminations, and Blake is an author for whom one needs all the notes one can get (Blake's allusions are extremely complex, so one must at least recognize them on the most basic level). One cannot say enough about the the visions of Blake presented in these books, but this is too much; you must SEE.

There is a serious call being sent to the Church in this hour. It is a critical time for the Church. Many are at the point of decision, destiny and crossroads. Believers are sensing an urgency to become everything God has said they should be.

The message of the Kingdom is the gravitational pull of this generation of the Church and The Costly Anointing is a valuable manual for those who want to bear spiritual fruit that will remain. Kingdom demonstration is impossible without genuine anointing.

The anointing does not come cheap, but grace will see you through

This book has been a blessing to me because it sheds light on the anointings of God. It is a book for young and mature Christians alike. Lori begins by giving Biblical examples about the different levels and types of anointing and the ingredients of an anointing. The book goes on to talk about what function the anointing has in the Church as a whole.

I enjoyed it because it gave me a sense of where I was in my commitment to the Lord, and where I need to go spiritually to mature more in the Lord.

If you want to know how to be anointed, or who can carry an anointing, then this book will be a blessing to you.

Wisdom of the Sanest Human Being of the Twentieth Century
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2000-03-30
While serving the Catonsville (Maryland) Presbyterian Church in the early 1980s, I often would make lunchtime pilgrimages (three blocks!) to the Knights of Columbus building where Daniel Berrigan and eight others poured napalm and blood on draft files more than a decade earlier to protest America's involvement in the Viet Nam war. Always I sensed myself to be standing on holy ground, for, despite the lapse of years, the asphalt still contained the imprimatur of gospel proclamation.

Daniel Berrigan is a poet, prophet, and priest. Sometimes he is more poet than priest, other times more prophet than poet, still others more priest than prophet. But, oh, how these vocations all are mixed in him so that, in my estimation, Berrigan was the sanest person of the twentieth century.

In these twilight years of his life, Berrigan has written a progression of books about the major prophets of the First (Old) Testament. He is harvesting a lifetime of dogged fidelity to the gospel of Jesus Christ and these books ("Daniel: Under the Siege of the Divine;" "Isaiah: Spirit of Courage, Gift of Tears;" "Ezekiel: Vision in the Dust;" and "Jeremiah: The World, the Wound of God") bear and share the fruit of his radical obedience. Ostensibly about the biblical prophets of long ago, these books are as up-to-date as this morning's sports page. Taken together, they are a clarion call to people of faith and conscience not to be seduced by the spirit of the age nor to acquiesce to the principalities and powers of the "empire."

"Daniel: Under the Siege of the Divine" is really a book about "seeing"- seeing deeply, seeing truly, seeing beyond the appearances of things to the truth of things. Not only is scripture's vision of "the new heaven and new earth" in which peace will reign and "all manner of things shall be well" championed by Berrigan in this book; we are given "prolonged glimpses" of the paths we must walk in order to "get there from here."

What Berrigan proposes out of his spiritual encounter with the biblical Daniel is "dangerous faith"- dangerous to the empire because it subverts the present arrangement of things in which the powers-that-be are so heavily invested and to which they want so desperately to cling, and dangerous to those who seek to speak truth to those powers because the empire is not in the least bit loathe to strike back.

"Daniel" is Daniel at his best. Herein, Berrigan eloquently and passionately demonstrates that the first step in saying "yes" to life is saying "no" to death in all of its multi-faceted and seductive forms, no matter what the cost.

To me, the power of the gospel is that, in Jesus, it was lived. That gives me hope that I, also, however imperfectly, can move out of the house of fear and into the house of love. Berrigan is our contemporary guide.

Again,Fr. Daniel Berrigan shakes the foundations

In DANIEL,Fr. Daniel Berrigan, priest, poet, prophet takes on that strange book of the Biblical prophet Daniel. As in his earlier works,Isiah,Ezekiel and after this in Jeremiah,Berrigan seamlessly[well, most of the time]relates modern day society with the doomed cultures of which the prophets spoke.Daniel Berrigan has been, for some,a pain in the neck,a,burr, for others, as a previous reviewer wrote, the sanest man of the 20th century. What struck me in this book is how GROUNDED Berrigan is in the scriptures, unlike many catholics of his or any generation.Poetically, Daniel Berrigan once more shows how these ancient, musty texts are alive, not simply relevant but breathing. If he is not the sanest man of the 20th century,he's damn close.

The Prophet Daniel's voice still rings in our time.

Review Date: 1999-01-27
For thirty years, Daniel Berrigan has spoken truth to power, and in the process has paid the price of scorn and jail. In our day, when our social ethic is as unsteady as jello, when the mantra of our morality is "it depends," who better to remind us of some powerful, prophetic truths than this modern "Daniel?" Berrigan translates the word of his namesake into a poetry sweet enough for even the M-TV generation to understand. The message that justice and love are our tickets to peace is just as true now as in "Daniel's" time. This book should be required reading for anyone who believes that the truth of nonviolence is still true.

this is a master work that is very important if we are to understand ourselves as well as the world in which we live. A fascinating read for the newcomer to such fiction, as well as the seasoned pro. A book to be enjoyed as much as it is to be studyed. Poetic, sad, and often very illuminating, "the devil in love" belongs to that league of literature that works on every level. Not to be ignored.

A tale of human foolishness and supernatural evil in the form of a beautiful love story. What a novel idea, especially for the eighteenth century. The devil is found in an obscure but fitting role in this surprisingly entertaining book. He has many faces; all deceiving and different; all equally wretched and evil. This book captures some of his essence. Excellent, and to be read again.

The story unfolds in luminous, poetic writing that is a total joy to read, and in the end leaves the reader fully satisfied, yet still longing for more. A book to be read again and again. Wonderful.

I've read this book cover to cover and found that this book is long over due for the serious disciple. The authors give a fair and complete treatment of the topics discussed with opposing views taken into consideration. I found this read to be very enjoyable and informative. I would highly recommend this book to seminary students and bible scholars as well as the committed Christian as a must have. I paid full price at the time of publishing, and it was worth every penny...amazon's price is fair and reasonable for a long over due reference treatment of premillenial theology. Absolutely excellent book (but get the hard bound edition, this is no paper back by any means), you'll refer to it time and again.... enjoy. bob

Dr. Bill Hamon's book on Personal Prophecy is excellent! In his book you will learn, how to put into practice biblical principles, that will help your personal prophecy come to pass. He explains how personal prophecy is conditional, and how some have not seen their personal prophecy come to pass, because they do not know what to do after they have recieved a Word from God. I recomend this book to all who have had a prophetic word given to them. In his book you will learn PRACTICAL steps that will lead you to see the fulfillment of God's prophetic word in your life!
