Pig Books

If you haven't seen a "window board book" for toddlers, you should. This one is beautifully illustrated, and each picture has a front and a back. When you turn the page to see (in this case) the back of the mouse with her carrots, it illustrates another part of the story. We received this as a gift when my son was less than a year old, and he wants to keep it to read to his own child someday.

You will believe a pig can ride a unicycle! This is a strange little book chock full of cute pigs and surreal barnyard encounters between a little pig and his animal friends. By far the best of the "I Am A Little..." series, this is interesting for kids and adults alike. Classic!

I love this book! I originally checked this book out from our local library and loved it so much that I had to have it for my own! =o) I don't even HAVE a hamster but I got this book due to the cute photos. The text isn't as lengthy as other books about hamsters but it does have a lot of general information that is very informative and interesting especially for a first-time hamster adopter. :o) I don't think anyone would regret owning this book.

My two-year-old son loves this book, and asks for it all the time. The book is about a little mouse who describes his feelings and how he expresses them, in a very simple and understandable way. I think it's great for young kids who are starting to learn about emotions, and how to put feelings into words. I also happen to be a psychologist--so maybe that's why I value books like this one!

My son loves the whole Elephant & Piggie series. In fact, these books are what taught him to read at age 4. They are repetitive and use short, easy words. Plus, they are hilarious. My son wants to read them each night. "I Love My New Toy" was just as funny as the rest of the ones we have. Mo Willems is the best children's author out there, in my opinion. We have all of his books, and they get read repeatedly. The whole family enjoys them when they are read aloud.

It's Heath Month in I.Q.'s classroom, but I.Q. is worried that because he can't run as long or jump as far as the other students, he won't win a ribbon at the fitness test. I.Q. the mouse is challenged to do his best - and still he doesn't seem to be able to compete. His efforts will eventually win him something different in this warm survey of a student who wants to achieve the most.

These three little piggies make a cute alternative to the traditional rubber duck. What I like best about them is that there is no paint on them, with the exception of a few tiny dots on the face. Almost all rubber ducks have a beak with orange paint, which my baby inevitably chews off. With all the lead paint recalls lately, that's the last toy I would want him to have. These pigs are much safer with no paint to ingest.

Michael Garland's Icarus Swinebuckle provides the hilarious story of a portly pig who wants to fly. Only his son believes in him - will his experiment turn to disaster?
