Pig Books

This is a simple story about a young mouse and her brothers and sisters and their effort to get a birthday present for their mother after breaking the original present. The search for the "just right present" is the story. This is well written and very well illustrated. It is a sweat story and is a very good one to read to the class. It is a story of gifts from the heart and has an excellent lesson to it. Recommend this one highly.

Nice large colorful pictures of cute pigs. Gave this calendar to a friend that loves pigs, she thought it was great!

I found this book to be an excellent resource for beginning my cattle farm. It spells out a lot of necessary things that must be done in order to care for cattle, and other livestock animals. There is, however, a lot of "higher level" biological dialogue that a novice will need to wade through to find the 'just plain english' part. However, don't let this discourage you. It is a very complete book that answers a lot of questions, many, before you even ask.

One of the best American writers

This book is about a mouse named Ralph who lives uinder a grandfather clock in a hotel with his families. Ralph is not just an ordinary mouse you see speaking in your attic, he is special. So special, that he has his own red motorcycle. With the motorcycle, he runs away from the hotel and his families because of his families' low trustworthy againist him. He runs away into a campsite with hundreds of boys and girls. Ralph finds himself in trouble with three cats when one of the boys named Gark catches him and keeps him from troubles.
There is no part of this book I disliked. None, because Beverly Cleary keeps yohh into the book. It actually "feels" like your there with Ralph and his ultimult adventures. She keeps you from stop rerading and say, "this book ...!" You rather say, "Gee, I wonder what happens on the next chapter!" I highly recommad you read this book instantly.
"I hab a better idea," said Garf. "I'll take you back to the hotel myself when my family comes to get me. They'll be spending the night there before they come and pick me up the day after tomorrow. The camo doesn't serve us lunch on the day we leave, so I know we'll stop at the Inn for lunchbefore we get home.It's the only place around here. I could easily take you along in my pocket." This quote meant a lot to me. This quote showed me that all Beverly Cleary books had a moral to the story. This book's moral was "the better friendship you have, the better things that you will earn from friendship."
Why this book you ask? Well, because Beverly Cleary is my favorite author. She gives me the reason to read rather then just reading for fun. I really get to learn lots of things when I read her books. Like a history book with games on it so that you learn stuff and hab fun. Read this fabulous book and Runaway Ralph, might be your favorite too.

Another great animal book in the Heinemann Lee y aprende series. Recommend highly for 4 to 8 year olds. Pictures of the raccoon are numerous. Heavy emphasis on the fact that raccoons are our neighbors. Numerous facts on the life, habitat, and eating habits make this a great reference and reading book for this age group.

This cleverly written and illustrated picture book gives the wolf's version of events to the classic nursery rhyme. The wolf vehemently proclaims his innocence and evokes reader sympathy as he relays his story, oblivious to the bunny ears in htis cake mixture or the rat body parts hanging from his cheesburger. The wolf says one thing, while the illustrations say another. The traditional rhyme of 'The Three Little Pigs' is retold in a conversational and contemporary style that has an underlying tone of misguided innocence. The story assumes prior knowledge of 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Little Red Riding Hood' and mixes traditional tales with contemporary visuals. This books us suitable for children aged 3-8yrs, although readers of any age would enjoy the humerous twist the wolf tries to give the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, its illustrations were humerous and afterall, innocent before proven guilty. Right? Perhaps he's not such a big bad wolf afterall, just misunderstood.

We found this book at the library when my daughter was 4 or 5. She wanted to check it out constantly. We moved when she was 6, and the book was not available in our library system. I was SO relieved to find it here on Amazon and ordered it immediately. She was thrilled to get it and still loves to read it at 7. The story is about 3 lab rats/mice who belong to a benevolent scientist but get struck by lightning. As a result of the lightning strike they develop some unusal powers, (x-ray vision, great size, and elasticity). They have a wild adventure when one of the Scientist's inventions, a life like robot mouse - gets loose. It's a fun book with great cartoon like pictures. Naturally, I highly recommend it.

Besides the fact that this book is one of the most-loved children's books of all time, the Spanish version is a great educational tool for all teachers and students of advanced middle school and high school Spanish. I have been a Spanish teacher in a high-rated public school district for 17 years, and I have been using this novel as an in-class reading project for the past 6. Along with three other teachers who teach at my level, we have convinced the foreign language department to make reading this novel a requirement for all students at this level. Almost all tenses are present-- past, present, future, and even some irregular verbs. I also reccomend this novel for students to read over the summer to keep their minds fresh and to keep them from going off-track. For whatever purpose, I highly reccomend this wonderfully-translated version of the timeless children's classic.
