Kate Duke's charming book "Guinea Pigs Near and Far" puts welcome emphasis on the adorability of guinea pigs! So often in children's books we see mice, hamsters, squirrels, bunnies and all other manner of sweet little fuzzy animals, but the guinea pig has been sorely and notably neglected.

Duke rights that wrong with "Guinea Pigs Near and Far." Simplistic in the extreme--just simple comparisons of words like "near" and "far" and so on--the text isn't the main attraction here. The drawing power of this book is the guinea pigs, of course. They are shown hiking, biking, riding trains, flying kites, sailing boats, and generally being completely and utterly entrancing.

My girlfriend discovered this book on a stroll through the university library. After reading it, we decided that we had to have it on our own bookshelf. This book is not so much about Guinea Pigs, but rather about the cultures surrounding them. If you want to find out how the everyday Andean lives and views this world, this book will show you through pictures and well crafted words.

This book covers everything you need to know about our cavy friends. Whether you are a beginner pet owner or have several hundred, this book is a great addition to have to add to any collection. The photography is wonderful, showing the fun side of being a pet owner as well as showing what you need to know to have a healthy and happy pet. I found it easy to read and the pictures are really great.

my grandfather was a member of the pioneering group of brave men who were sent into battle without the outcome known to them. these 35 men went and completed their mission without support except for the encouragment of the men with them,they only lost one man in this mission who was murdered by the Italians because he was 1st generation Italian,the rest were captured because the Italians used civilians as a human shield against these brave men. These brave men refused to kill unarmed civilians and surrendered without firing a shot. That action took more courage than the mission they completed hours before. It is sad that there are no more books of the actions of the men from this unit after capture.
they for the most part escaped captivity or harrassed the German and Italian captors , making a living hell for the axis.

I have a couple different guinea pig wall calendars and this one is my very favorite. The pictures are too Cute!!

One of my friends has guinea pigs and I started a tradition of sending her these calendars last year. This calendar had lots of cute photos of guinea pigs doing non-guinea pig things so if you like that sort of "non-National Geographic" approach to animal photography and have a thing for guinea pigs, I think you will be pleased.
