Piano The Books

I liked the explanations. I went back almost to the beginning and practiced most of the pieces. That really helped.

Music in written form for everyone to see-YES!! No one can make snide comments about Michael Bolton, his hair, etc. He is a songwriter as well as a singer so we'll let you judge for yourself what it's worth. But if we can put some bugs in some ears (and staff lines in some eyes), pay close attention to Safe Place From The Storm, Why Me (co-written with the great Lamont Dozier of H-D-H fame), Let There Be Love, and--of course--Go The Distance (Menken may cop an attitude, but he is a genius). Too bad, and this goes for all sheet music, that the list of instruments used as mentioned in the album credits aren't listed as suggested accompaniment (like the rainstorm opening for Safe Place...). But hey...can't be too picky when it's good.

I have used Mikrokosmos for practicing the Bandoneon in the past. The results were outstanding. Today I use it for teaching.

The intelligence and artistic level of Mikrokosmos makes of it not only a complete progressive method for technique, but it is also highly instructive regarding music composition and interpretation.

This book offers a unique way to learn scales. Anyone can learn scales! I'm privileged to know the author and I know her method works. This book along with the major scales workbook helps students of all levels to learn their scales on the keyboard using pictures that stay in your mind when you play. This is NOT your ordinary scale book. Glenna was my 5th and last piano teacher and by her method I went from knowing none of my scales to memorizing all of my scales along with their counterparts. Learning scales is a very important part of learning to play the piano and through her method I was able to play better because I knew the background for any piece I'd play. An example in the major scale workbook is the C major scale. Think of a color crayon, how it's straight across. Crayon begins with C, and since a crayon is straight you remember when you're playing that the C scale has no sharps or flats -it's played straight across the white keys starting on any C. I love using these books. I teach now, and these are the only books I recommend when learning scales. It's absolutely the best investment!

Miranda plays the piano for everyone else until one day she hears a special kind of music she really "needs" to play just for herself. In the end, everybody wins... just the way it should be.

I've played many instruments and was able to learn them very quickly, but for some reason when it came to learning how to play the piano/organ it was somewhat difficult. I've come across many other piano books as well as spending lots of money on piano teachers. However, I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS A BOOK AS INCREDIBLE AS THIS ONE!!!!!!!!!!! You learn modern chord changes for playing old style hymns very quickly. I attend a very modern styled type church. We don't sing hymns to often, but when we do, I like to add a little spice to it. I get that with this book!! I'm able to cater to the ones who enjoy the older songs as well as please the ear of the younger crowd with a more modern playing style. THIS BOOK GIVES IT TO YOU!!!! And it's very easy to understand. If you're even somewhat familiar with the hymns, learning them with the way he breaks down the chords, you'll have NO PROBLEM!!! I can go on and on about this book!!! But you really should find out for yourself!!! YOU WILL NEVER REGRET BUYING THIS BOOK!!!! EVERY MUSICIAN SHOULD HAVE IT; EXPERIENCED OR NOT!!!!

Although it is a Hispanic based book its great for just that. Teaching theory to hispanic students that are limited to certain books because of their native language. The book has a handwritten and typewriter feel to it.Nothing fancy at all. According to my teacher that has been recommending this book to all her students; they have demonstarated great improvement in musical vocabulary and solfege. I am one of them to prove it. Good book with a home feel to it for hispanic students.

We enjoyed the musical Spamalot so much that my son wanted to get the music for the songs. This was the ideal entry book for him as it contained the melody in the music and wasn't just an accompaniment.

This is the complete Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. All three movements are in one book and it is not a watered down version. This copy of Moonlight Sonata is excellent.

Here is an interesting collection of favorites for intermediate-level piano. Both pop and classical tunes - 'Crazy,' 'Hey Jude,' and 'Jupiter.'
