For devotees of Spanish music, Walter Clark's biography on Isaac Albeniz was a hard act to follow, but he's done it again with this biography of Albeniz' contemporary, Enrique Granados. Clark brings both Granados and his music back to life in a brilliant work that sets new standards for musical biography.

This series of methods are used in many school districts to teach beginning strings. Having used them myself, I can testify from experience that everything you need to learn your instrument is here in a graduated path of instruction. I would recommend some basic beginning music theory books to round out your development as a musician.

Sometimes it really pays to get your music elsewhere, since the cost here is just too high. I received this book today and am really excited about it. It includes some gorgeous pieces! The difficulty level is really for advanced-intermediate players to advanced players and higher. Some of these are HARD to play (at least for me) and will require some real practice to master them.

By the way, I was looking for the music to the film The Mayor of Casterbridge, composed by Adrian Johnston. I came upon this book when searching, because he wrote some of the pieces here. I still cannot find the music to The Mayor of Casterbridge and do not think it's in print. If anyone knows of this music, please contact me.

This book was recommended to me by my piano teacher, and I have found it to be full of excellent selections. The Clementi Sonatinas are some of the best beginner Sonatinas available, and are standard for piano repertoire. The Kabalevsky (Op. 13, No. 1) is a great modern piece that is a lot of fun to play.

For the price, you'll have a lot of challenging material to work with. The pieces are arranged essentially chronologically, with a good range of composers.

This is the most comprehensive book on piano teaching I have ever read. It covers all aspects of teaching from the first day until the student can improvise solo. Everything is included. It has chapters on essentials, performance, practice, lesson plans, fees, etc. More than just a guide it is a gift on how to inspire one's students. This book will make piano teachers motivate and students soar.

This book should be stashed in any aspiring young pianist's library as to the goal of what music should sound like when learrning to elaborate from the church hymnal. Yet those who play well and do not know how to add the "goodies", will be delighted to own this out of print volume. These are a rare find indeed and well worth the price!

Though I do not own the book, I am giving it a 5 star rating simply because it contains a great selection of titles and I am familiar with the Decade series in that I 'do' own the first Songs of the 60's book as well as the Songs of the 20's, 30's, and 40's collections and would give each of those 5 stars based on the wide and fresh variety of the selections in each of those.
