The Diller-Quaille piano book series provides a strong background for aspiring pianists. Using multicultural folk tunes and music from composers you have heard of, these books offer a well-rounded repertoire of pieces students will continue playing for years. Book two introduces students to beginning level Beethoven and Mozart. It also poses a variety of technical exercises in the guise of lovely music. Students have no idea that they are learning difficult techniques.

International is known to be one of the better music publishing companies, for their care in editing. This book includes a great selection of songs that will provide the soprano or tenor with a several lovely additions into their repertoire.

This is the fourth copy that members of my family have owned. The book has been in print for over fifty years, so if you are looking for something contemporary you are out of luck. These songs have been favorites for many people over the years.

As a child, my home had an version of this book that was published in 1936. It's a selection of passages excerpted from legendary classical works. They represent a variety of styles and are of the perfect length for parties or personal enjoyment. You'll recognize many of the tunes. This is indespensible for the casual/intermediate pianist like myself or anyone else who wants to add a truly "classic" classical compendium to their collection.

I've been a music teacher for over thirty years and piano teacher for about ten. I've used many piano series but I think Faber & Faber put out the best ones. They reinforce techniques, lessons, theory within their series. I wouldn't use anything else.

I am a singer who has studied theater style music for the last two years. This is a new book for me, and I'm currently singing 5 of the songs. It is really fun! If you're looking for fun songs that you can act as well as sing, I think this book is really great.

I love this book, to me it was just enough of a challenge but not so much that by Christmas I could play them somewhat with ease, I had an intermediate book before this one and this was just a bit harder. I love the songs. There were a few I didn't know at all. Our whole family could find a favorite they wanted to hear. I'd buy it again for sure!

If you have a piano, if you're motivated, and if you can follow direction from a book, you can learn how to play in the "open position." This open position yields a pleasing jazz sound to your harmony. I learned to play from this book, without a teacher. I only knew how to read the treble clef. You can do the same. Go for it.
