Electronic Medicine by Alan Stang is truly an eye-opener. The first few chapters give background into the history of medicine,
basically Homeopathic at the time. Then along came Allopathy, and the battle starts and has continued to this day. Allopathy
has a place, but we and they have to realize what that place is, we can no longer allow the Pharmaceutical Industry dictate
how medical Doctors practice, they have become slaves to the system on order to survive. The author has a comedic and somewhat
satirical sense of humor which was welcome when devouring this information which in and of itself can be dry, however Alan
makes the journey pleasurable. I appreciated the history lesson, and gives the reader a very good understanding of just what
is going on in our present day health care, and the battles within our medical establishment and government. If you have
children this is a must read book full of well researched documented information on vaccines, all the way down to the ingredients
of most childhood vaccines. Should you have parents, siblings, or a spouse you love and care about, you will cherish this
book, as it will put health care back into the hands of the individual, where he or she will have the information to make
the decisions that life may throw our way. This book will empower you with the suppressed information to enable the body to
heal itself, as it was meant to do and will do, if given the right tools. In the end we must all take responsibility for our
quality of life, not give it away to an institution whether it be government, medical or pharmaceutical, for their profit,
because you will lose! I will always be indebted to this author, Alan, for this unselfish piece of investigative journalism,
in this day and age it is truly rare.

Mary Patton's book addresses the issue of emotional abuse inflicted upon children by those who are supposed to be educating
them. As the mother of five boys,I have watched the damage done by the thoughtless cruelty of teachers who are unhappy with
their lives and burdened by the baggage of their past. The saddest part is that these teachers do not understand how painful
their offhand comments can be.Two of my sons have learning disabilities despite IQ's in the superior range. My fourth grader
often comes home sullen or tearful with another story about some humiliating comment from a teacher. When his older brother
was in middle school, he would sneak out of school and go home. School was about as welcoming as prison. The author brings
this situation to light with compassion and understanding.

I have been a paralegal specializing in landlord-tenant relations for a good number of years and I can recommend this author
and his book whole-heartedly. Many times I have turned to it's pages. I believe I have quite a few revised versions and
will continue to purchase every time he revises. Good work, Leigh, keep it up.

And to be benefited by it only a slight remnant of grammar-school French is necessary.

Carlo D'Este has written a colossal an exhaustively documented biography of the unparalleled General Patton.
He starts portraying Patton's ancestors. Usually this is neglected in many biographies: the micro history of the subject. Frequently, as in this case, it is essential to understand the character. Patton is the offspring of deep rooted American families. Remarkable warriors populate his lineage. Then is not surprising such a Fighter emerged from that soil.
D'Este follows Patton thru his earlier steps, his education, first at VMI, then at West Point. His struggle with dyslexia and with a physical condition that was not superlative for the burning activity that Patton displayed, he was always pushing his limits.
Next: Patton falling in love, marriage and early experiences as Cavalry officer is shown; his first contact with "real war" at Mexico with Pershing's Punitive Expedition; his WWI career with the new tank forces and his meteoric ascension to Colonelcy.
Then the dark and stark interwar period, with the rank reduction included and the boring regular army life is presented in detail.
Finally the last and more known portion of his life: from Africa, as warrior and diplomat; thru Sicily and the "slapping episode"; the rupture of Normandy's stalemate till the crossing of the Rhine.
D'Este constructs a solid biography, presenting the "real" Patton with his merits and drawbacks. Patton is neither an icon nor a monster; he is a human being convinced of his destiny and committed to fulfill it.
A superb book to be sure!

This book is a concise and thorough overview of one of America's most studied and discussed generals. Mr. Smith has seemingly
brought Gen. Patton back to life with his vivid descriptions and page turning narrative. Kudos to Mr. Smith for his unbiased
approach to his subject. This is a great book.

Effective Negotiations

I absolutely loved this book. It is very useful and informative on the principled negotiation process where I learnt to separate people from the problem; focus on interests, not positions; generate a variety of options before deciding what to do and to insist that the result of negotiation be based on some objective standard. The authors took time to explain things in layman's terms without "dumping it down". I was delighted and impressed by the numerous practical examples the author gave which illustrated the vast opportunities that are available to achieve effective negotiations devoid of stubborn haggling but rather ensure mutual problem-solving.
The book really gives a great launching point for those who wish to carry out successful win-win negotiations in every facet of their lives, be it at home, with suppliers, at your favourite shop or at work or even at national and international level. I love the tone that the book is written in and how it is easy to read, understand and follow, making a lot of sense.
The author illustrates his arguments, proposals and solutions with practical examples which make the book very useful to the reader. His writing style is easy to understand so that any reader with a basic understanding of English can easily follow.
The author methodically explores the negotiation process, highlighting the strategies and tactics that will help those involved to get the best out of the process. He stresses the need for avoiding negotiating over positions but rather focus on using the principled negotiation process which should leave everybody's interests taken care of. The book also describes the concept of BATNA, that is, the best alternative to a negotiated agreement or the lowest acceptable value to an individual for a negotiated agreement. Any offer that you receive that is higher than your BATNA is good and by the same token, you cannot expect the other party to accept an offer that is lower than their BATNA.
I recommend the book to anyone interested in successful and fruitful negotiations.
