Lots of really good rituals and meditations that can help you center. Her writing is easy to read and clear to understand. A great book for people looking for ways to connect with themselves and others.

More from the Queen of Skydancing. If you`ve read either of her 2 previous books, this one is rituals minus the sex. All rather obvious. A lot comes direct from Osho - there`s a surprise! If you`re interested in chakras and/or rituals this may be an interesting read, otherwise try something else.

A completely new understanding of love
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-02-18
Anyone can be loving when things are going your way. This book explains how to be loving when things are not going your way. It has nothing to do with the romantic idea of love. Rather, it's all about how to choose to be love by transcending the ego. The author gives several practical ways to undo impulse to attack self and others through guilt, anger or depression. The thing I most liked about this book is that it's deeply spiritual without being religious or predictable, which is very refreshing and uplifting. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience more love in his or her life by being more loving.

Christian geared enlightenment

If I could look beyond this book's Christian slant I might agree with some of what other reviewers are saying about it. In truth, the subtitle should be "Awaken your passion to be your Higher Christ - Self." If you can overlook that and other references to God (assuming this is the Christian God since we already see the Christ influence) the messages in the book could be enlightening. I doubt that the author intentionally left out the other religions in the world, for if it were so it would imply that only those of Christ mind could find enlightenment.

The basic ideas of this book are that there are four obstacles to love: The illusion of a special relationship (soulmates, relationship love, parental love), Anger, Guilt, and a lack of awareness. But love does not refer to what you think of in everyday life, for that kind of love, we are told, is simply our ego. It is fairy tale and selfish. Karen Bentley might call me unenlightened but I don't agree with this concept.

According to Bentley, there are six spiritual tools you need to have to change your life: A strategy of Holiness, Forgiveness, Gratitude, The holy instant of peace, Communing with your higher self, and Praying. She goes on to explore and explain these tools in depth in a very easy to read tone, using anecdotes and numerous quotes from "A Course in Miracles." Again, the text is full of Christian influence and doesn't need to be so, in my opinion. Enlightenment is available to every soul.

The writing is well done, the tone is uplifting (though at times condemning of your humanness) and the basic premise of connecting with your higher self is positive. I can see Christians everywhere wanting a copy of "The Book of Love." For what it is, the book is an appropriate, useful tool; it just isn't for everyone.

If you want to save your relationship

After spending a weekend seminar with Tony Robbins, we bought this cd/book set for over 400$ and began a journey into our relationship deeper and more honest than ever before.
We all have the same problems, some are worse off than others, but basically we are all human trying to live in harmony.
My relationship looks like a piece of cake compared to these people in the video!!!
If you want to save your relationship, invest the time, money and effort into saving it.

Unprofessional and presumptuous. Save your money!

I found Robbins to be crass, unprofessional and arrogant. He strikes me as an amateur counselor who has been propped up by lots of marketing. The first DVD is just a long commercial about the guy. Then the next DVD you have to wade through more preview stuff (how great he is, how many lives he's changed, how he's basically a savior for all mankind), then when you finally get to the meat of it, it starts with him pontificating and putting down some poor couple in front of 4000 people, with him using foul language. That was enough. My husband is returning it to the store today.

It was all "I, I, I" "Me, Me, Me" with little practical advice in it. Also, there was very little of use to a plus sized female, which is surprising considering the author is one herself. Useless.

Sexual? Yes... Divine? Lacking.

I greatly enjoy most of Yasmine's work, however this is the one book that I had some issues with.

Yasmine does a wonderful job in the book covering the sacredness of our bodies, and opening to masturbation as a sacred and magick act, but other than that it seems to me that it is a blunt sexual discussion manual wrote by a pagan.

When I first heard the title, I thought it would be about using sex as a link to the divine... And although the book can help many come closer to their bodies, which are divine, it teaches nothing to those who are already comfortable in their bodies and wanting to use sex and sexuality as a magickal tool, which I felt the title was implying.

If you are still within your first couple years of practice, this is a good book. But if you have been at the Craft, and sacred sexuality for a while, you might not get much out of it.

It couldn't decide whether it was vegetarian propaganda or a sociological history of the movement and, accordingly, both sides fail. I was looking for a decent history of the movement, and this wasn't it.

an odd & unique little book, written, i believe, by someone who hasnt put out anything else. it is primarily a collection of biographies of various vegetarians, from gandhi to hitler & an explication of several vegetarian movements. written in the early-mid 70s, the style of the vegetable passion is evocative of its time..... while it does meander, more information is packed into less space & there isnt an imposed message or point of view. it is more scholarly than most books i have seen on the topic. the information is unusual, as are the photographs. if one would like a history of some of the worlds more famous vegetarians & specifically, their views on vegetarianism & how it is integrated into their lives, this would be a good book to read.

The only item in this kit worth getting was the small book of positions and information. The cd was hokey and the spiral bound book was mostly pictures, albeit nice ones, but useless overall.....I give this product 5 stars only for the small book enclosed....would rather spent the money on just that.
