I bought this book after reading all the reviews and couldn't NOT write my own. After reading this I felt NORMAL and wonderful about who I am sexually. All the old messages from childhood, all my inhibitions and fears all of a sudden became secondary and unimportant next to my emerging comfortableness with my own fantasies and preferences. I suddenly began remembering all sorts of childhood experiences that have led me to be who I am today and with that recognition I feel (I know it sounds cliche) liberated. But just ask my boyfriend! I shared a lot of this book with him, read to him sections and since he is so understanding and a willing participant in our ongoing evolution of sex, we were both able to confide in each other our deepest secrets. Now I realize how really normal I am and not as odd as I thought and it has boosted my confidence to try new things.

I would tell anyone grappling with their sexuality or that of a loved one's to go out and get the book immediately! It definitely spiced up our life!

This is simply a wonderful book that explores the parodoxes of human mating. It is well organized, easy to follow and contains a wealth of fascinating information.

Jack Morin centers his discussion around what he calls the "erotic equation." This is that attraction plus obstacles equals excitement. He then goes on to explain how lust and romantic love operate as well the dynamics of what he calls emotional aphrodisiacs. These are emotional states that could lead to the transformation of an emotion into sexual feelings. Some of these are obvious, but others such as anxiety or guilt are less obvious until you read Morin's detailed explantions.

I also think this book is useful for those who are trying to understand some the dynamics underlying infidelity. If you have interests along those lines, I also recommend "The Evolution of Desire" by David Buss and "Private Lies" by Frank Pittman.

Unfortunately, many of the other books I've found that deal with the erotic imagination or motivation for sexual behavior are sorely lacking in depth or treat the topic in an overly academic, clinical or arm's length manner. This book has a lot of meat and is written in a style that makes the concepts accessible to everyone, not just professionals working in this field.

Everyone needs a copy

I loved this book. I thought some of my turn-ons and bedroom behaviors were strange....maybe even abnormal, but Dr. Morin opens new ways of approaching your own thoughts.

I found that the answers, for what I thought were strange behaviors, were inside of me the whole time, they just needed to be explored. Now I love myself even more for understanding myself in a much deeeper level.

If you have had even one sexual thought (that's everybody who is reading this)...you need a copy of this book. All sexual orientations, male and female alike, can find something in this book that will make you think that Dr. Morin is speaking directly to you.

This may unlock what holds you back in your whole life

This book is like a discovery that I'd been searching for myself. It didn't come out of left field for me- I've often asked myself why I could feel frustrated when I didn't know what I wanted. The discouragement from not having an answer to that question was enormous, and it wasn't just a question I'd ask myself of sex, but of many aspects of my life.

That is why this book is great, because Dr. Morin challenges you to appreciate the impact that your erotic life and dilemmas have on your whole life. Feelings you may have buried in fear or shame turn out to be real messages about who you are. I recommend this book for anyone who feels they've had a complicated sexual adjustment, which I suspect is everyone who has gone through puberty. If you are ready to be compassionate towards yourself, this book can help to change your life.

This is my third time purchasing this book. Every time I loan it to someone they never return it and I have to purchase it again. Note to self: this book would make a great gift holiday, birthday, or someone coming out of a bad break up. The zodiac traits and compatibility connections are soo true, that I only date signs that I'm compatible with, and I have a very stable relationship with the one matched for me.
Thanks Thelma

i've had this book for many years and finally decided to write a review about it. the book is tailored towards black people so that makes it unique. i really love this book and everytime i encounter a new guy i flip to the book, i almost have it memorized on certain parts. the author is on point. i read what she said about my sign and realized that yes, she knows what she's talking about. there are tons of good examples throughout the book and solid information about each sign. it's not filled with a lot of heavy jargon, it's actually funny without being silly and useless. you can get a quick fix or read more in-depth, it's all there. this is a wonderful book to share with friends that get a kick out of astrology and are dating, engaged or married. i would love to see the author update the book, i'd be among the first to buy the revised edition!

She outdid herself with this one. I'm an astrology buff, so I know that Venus represents your love signs as well. And I not only read the interactions between sun signs, which represents your personalities, but where Venus was too.

My partner at the time had his Venus in Gemini, and mine is in Aries. I would read the book and die laughing, because she describes a Gemini-Aries relationship to a hilt! It was just like our conversations were coming straight from this book. It was too funny.

I enjoyed reading,"Unmasking The Passion." I found it to be so different from other books. It has such reading appeal to it. It seems to dance in your hand well after you have read its pages. Its hard to explain. But, Dorfman has definitely made an impression on me and I await more of her work. The poem "Rapture," was intriguing.

I read this book with a preconceived notion of "I don't like poetry so why should I read this one". I must now eat my words, for this book has changed my opinion forever. These poems are thought provoking, erotic, sad, clever, insightful and truth itself. I have never had anything touch my soul and make me remember all the joy and pain of a relationship. The good and the bad, from the first meeting through the relationship, to the end. Each poem kept me hooked until the end and then I wanted more. I hope this is just the beginning of such enlightenment. I can only hope that Ms. Dorfman has much more to share. A new devoted fan.

I urge those who have been in relationships that have not worked out to read this book. The poetry seems to offer objective reasoning and allow one to come to grips with their own perplexities. Its nice to read this book for my ego seems to be in much better shape. I feel invigorated and able to face my next relationship with a clearer understanding of who I am and what it is that I want.

Common Sense Career Advice
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-06-09
Navigating for Success: Passion, Goals and Action is a common sense career book. It's written by Moss Jackson. Dr. Jackson uses sailing as a metaphor for success. He says that much like a voyage, success, requires planning, focus and dedication.
He refers to successful people as "navigators." According to Dr. Jackson, navigators have three traits in common. Navigators: 1) Steer the course of their lives, rather than allowing themselves to be buffeted by waves of circumstance; 2) chart their course by cultivating the key qualities of passion, focus and resilience; and 3) take personal responsibility for, and are fully in charge of their lives.
Dr. Jackson concludes each chapter with a common sense summary he calls "Compass Points." The five Compass Points for Chapter 7 are:
1. Know where you're going and the results you want to achieve.
2. Create a plan to move through the gap.
3. Clarify the specific actions you're going to take.
4. Don't wait until events determine you're fate; take the initiative.
5. Learn from your mistakes and always keep you end state, or goals in mind.
There is a lot of common sense wisdom in these five statements. I particularly like number 4. I often tell my coaching clients that successful people don't wait for things to happen to them, they make happen the things that they want.
I also like the fact that Navigating for Success has a lot of stories and checklists. The book opens with a story about Dr. Jackson's childhood in Brooklyn - including playing stickball in the street and his fond remembrances of the long departed Brooklyn Dodgers. This book format both engaged me and got me thinking about what I need to do to continue my success.
In short, Navigating for Success is a very readable book filled with practical, common sense advice. Dr. Jackson is my kind of guy. I love what he's written and how he's written it.

Helping you find and execute your life plan

Review Date: 2008-05-21
We all know intellectually that to achieve our goals effectively we need to plan and execute our plan. Few individuals both plan and execute well; most of us need to put additional effort into one of these activities as it "does not come naturally" to us. Jackson helps the reader with both functions. The book starts with identifying ourselves (Jackson uses the terms "victim," "survivor" and "navigator" for his classifications.)

After identifying and labeling personal styles, Jackson starts with helping readers identify their passions and what they need to do to achieve them. This discussion is not limited to work goals but extends to cover family, personal life, financial life, health and relationships. Next comes dealing with your own emotions, and after that, communicating with others (after all, you will need their help to achieve your goals). After that, he covers unexpected situations.

Like those who advocate spiral-learning techniques, Jackson returns to dealing with emotions, but this time he focuses on dealing with other people's emotions. Some of the examples he gives refer to dealing with emotions in a group setting. In keeping with the spiral-learning techniques, Jackson next discusses team building, empowerment motivation and conflict resolution. The last few chapters are shorter than the preceding ones and summarize the overall message of the book.

Jackson's writing style is crisp and concise - even the longest chapters can be read in under fifteen minutes. The paragraphs are fluid and the examples help understand the concepts Jackson is presenting. My only real criticism is that the text would have benefited from the services of an editor. It's not that Jackson's writing needs to be clearer, its just that there were a few annoying typographical errors that a conventional spell check would not be able to pick up (for example "sin" instead of "seem"). Fortunately, these errors are rare.

Overall, this is an excellent book. The content is well presented, and I like Jackson's approach of starting with the self and then moving to others. By using metaphors and symbols associated with sailing, Jackson provides a workbook blueprint that is inspiring, thoughtful and thought provoking.

Armchair Interviews says: Good book for those who want to be successful in business and life.

Life is a journey. Moss A. Jackson gives us many useful tips to live a meaningful and successful life in "Navigating for Success: Passion, Goal & Action."

"...For whatever dream you choose to pursue, this book will show you how to be a more confident and effective Navigator for success." Moss wrote, "Who are Navigators? They are individuals who steer the course of their lives, rather than allow themselves to be buffeted about by waves of circumstance, past experience or emotion. Navigators chart their course by cultivating the key qualities of passion, focus, resilience, and a sense of adventure. Rather than viewing problems as obstacles, they seize them as opportunities..." Moss also discusses the ways of survivors and victims, and analyzes the reasons for their failures.

"Navigating for Success: Passion, Goal & Action" has 7 parts: Steering Your Life, Mapping Your Course, Riding Your Inner Wave, Ship to Shore: Getting Connected, Storm Warning, Building Your Crew and Setting Sail. Each part is divided into several chapters with real life examples and a simple question section at the end.

"Navigating for Success: Passion, Goal & Action" has 137 pages. It is a useful book for those seeking business and professional success and striving to achieve personal goals.

Through his exquisite writing, using Rumi's work as a vehicle, Andrew Harvey has given us a handbook to the inner courts of the soul. The depths of his observations will take you about as far as the written word can. It is not enough to just read this book. One must then go back and meditate one's way through it to truly absorb its richness. To do less would be to smell the fragrance of the wine but never taste it. Truly, this masterful study is a veritable banquet for the searching soul.

Rumi is one of the greatest spiritual mystics and poets who we can read today. This book is a wonderful guide, both through some of Rumi's poetry, and in gaining insight into Rumi's life. This book is one of my favorite books in my library. Andrew Harvey has clearly experienced the passion of Rumi himself, and is able to guide the reader through profound waters with skill. I found his commentary to be a bonus to the experience of reading Rumi.

A mystic for our time

Review Date: 2001-05-29
As one with a lifelong interest in mysticism, I have been reading Rumi for forty-five years now. Unfortunately, I cannot yet read the originals, and I have had to intuit the sense in some rather bloodless interpretations. Harvey, however, seems to hit it just right. To the degree that we can speak of these things during a person's lifetime, he seems to me to be a genuine mystic himself, passionate and full-blooded as the real thing usually is. Six months ago, I gave a copy of this to a much younger friend who had discerned the via negativa with no external guidance before we met. He rejoices in the book and is delighted to find words that exactly mirror his own untaught discoveries. I do not normally gush over such books. I was rigorously trained in Catholic theology and philosophy, hold a graduate degree in East Asian religion and identify myself as a Christian. I am not expert in Islam, though I know far more than the average reader, having edited one work on Rumi. So I tend to cast a jaundiced eye over most work like this. But if I were forced to reduce my library to a scant hundred volumes, The Way of Passion would still find an honored place. Rumi, though heterodox like all mystics, spoke powerfully not only to the Sufis of his time but to orthodox Muslims, Jews and Christians. Though Harvey certainly does not rank with Rumi, his interpretation can speak meaningfully to all persons of good will who do not barricade themselves behind denominational lines. On the basis of this book alone, I would read anything that Harvey writes.

One viewpoint: Harvey is clearly inspired and explores many of Rumi's pieces in a heartfelt way. Excellent reading! It's healthy to spend time with Rumi and contemplate on his ideas--and humor. Rumi is among the top, top spiritual writers available. He understands--as does Harvey--what's important in Soul's journey Home.
(I'd suggest, to fill out this book's perspective, reading Twitchell's Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad (I and II).)

True to the book's title, Harvey has truly created a delightful celibration of Rumi and his works. If you are on your path, or even if you have wondered off the path into the dark forest, Harvey has provided a clear roadmap to the next level of transformation. This map comes repleat with warnings of speed traps, and roadsigns - telling of Rumi and Shams "wildness, violence, and ferocity" as they traveled down their path, drinking wine, and going ever onward, toward the Sun. Just enjoying moments of Divine Grace.

As a motivational speaker, I have been reading self-help and motivational books for years. Never before have I found a book that contained the "basic" highlights of every book I have read. Tina provides a gentle blend of psychology, science, common sense, and life experiences in a "gentle" to read style that informs rather than preaches. Her chapters on "self-talk" are so intuitive that you have to put the book down occasionally to let the information marinate in you mind before proceeding. I look forward to reading this book again and again.

This has become one of my favorite books. Bernie Siegel, M.D. put it succinctly when he said "This book can be a great help to those ready for transformation." Well, I am always ready for transformation; who isn't? The beauty of this book is that it is simply written and easy to understand. After having read it -- I gobbled it up voraciously in two days -- I now go back and re-read certain sections that help remind me of how to meander upon my own "gentle path."

It was an easy read, even while dealing with deep and emotional issues. Tina Thomas has a clear, no-nonsense, down-home style which goes right to the heart of the matter. This is one of the best books I have read about improving one's attitude and eliminating all traces of the negative. It also makes a wonderful gift for friends and loved ones. After reading it, I obtained ten of them for my best buddies!

Not only does the author do both but she also has a delightful conversational style and inspirational examples. Her explaination of the brain and how to reprogam are brilliant. I also enjoyed her deeper understanding of the positive intentions of emotion - very insightful. I had the opportunity to meet the author at a workshop she gave and was also impressed with her congruency - clearly she is a woman who LIVES her message! She is dynamic and enthusiastic yets exudes peace & compassion. Reading her book is like being at her workshop, or better yet, like finding a dear wise friend.

The revered quest to satisfy your lover through her G-spot by Relating Anatomy Into Lovemaking is Mr. Schuessler's definition for the Holy G-rail. Michael Schuessler's informative little novella is jam packed with true life experience and tips for men and women on how to find the g-spot as well as how to self-love, warm-up, communicate, and experience the total effect of the g-spot climax.

With the help of his Special Lover, Michael explains in step by step detail the art of finding and enjoying every ounce of pleasure the g-spot climax invokes. This book is small enough that anyone man or woman can conceal in a jacket pocket, or purse to pull out in times when a little "reference" may be needed.

I would recommend The Holy G-rail to anyone trying to discover ways to spice up a relationship or are looking to heighten the sexual experience with their partner. Mr. Schuessler is a remarkable writer that really enforces the word, "hands on," the diagrams are also helpful. There are more books to come in the pleasuring series so be on the lookout for those, but for the time being go out and pick up your copy of The Holy G-rail today and start experiencing what you've been missing. 5 Hearts

Of all the books I've read on spirituality in the last thirty years this book "Passion for Creation" (Formerly Breakthrough) has to rank as one of the best works for its refreshing and stimulating understanding of the content of Miester Eckharts thought.

We indeed are indebted to Matthew Fox for his integration and synthesis of the core of Eckharts thought. His is a rich, systematic presentation of Eckharts vision of the holiness and blessing of that which we call life.

His commentaries will provide many hours of delightful and challenging reflection for those whose path or journey leads them in the direction of intellection and erudite study. For those who are of the western contemplative or eastern meditative tradition, or anyone whose joy it is to spend time in deep prayer, will find in Eckharts thoughts, a path which is delightfully familiar, one that gives credence and expression to their everyday experiences, and will truly make one feel at home in their growth in spirituality

I began reading excerpts from Fox's book on Eckhart several years ago on a backpacking trip. Each page seemed like a delicious morsel of spiritual food to roll around inside my heart and savor.

The full text is presented in Fox's four path's of creation spirituality. Fox's commentary is deep, eloquent and helpful. Eckhart's writings on "letting go and letting be" take us very close to a meeting of the Occident and the Orient. Stranded on a desert island, this is the book I would choose.

Passion of Creation if a compilation of Meister Eckhardt's sermons. His view of God and God's relation to his creatures - humans and the rest of creation is very different from many views of this subject. Each sermon is followed by an explanation by Matthew Fox. Eckhardt feels that God is everywhere - within us, around us, in all of creation. I find the book very comforting. Lest you think this is some new idea, Meister Eckhardt was a Dominican priest who lived in the 15th century. Passion of Creation is a book that will be read and re-read until the cover falls off and one has to order a new one

My copies called "Breakthrough - Meister Eckhart's Creation Spirituality in New Translation" published in 1980, i guess this is the new version.
This is one of the most important spiritual books I have. Along with Bernadette Roberts' books, Eckhart is probably about as far as you can go towards a universal spirituality within the christian framework (i'm not a Christian by the way). It's not conservative stuff, no way, no repressive crap here - this is liberation, love and life. Did you know Eckhart was a large intellectual influence on Heidegger? "God is Being". His work is obviously pantheistic - God is the world, the world is an aspect of God. It's fully world loving and accepting. If you swapped "God" for "Dzogchen" then there would be a large cross-over with that Tibetan tradition. i.e being is present and presence is the creative/energetic aspect of the godhead.
If your liberal in your spirituality, if you love the earth like your mother, if you've got a brain and can think - then this book is for you. Thank-you to Matthew - great job! Eckhart lived 1260 to 1329 and more important and relevant now than ever.

Having read it from front and back, I now know that "Untie the Knots That Tie Up Your Life" is a valuable book for many reasons but most of all because Ty Howard shares realistic ways that we can all break free of the behavioral traps that sabotage our personal and professional success. This guide will more than triple the benefit you will get from reading it, especially if you also focus on the many helpful "timeouts" as well as the specific practical strategies recommended within each chapter.

I was impressed with how the book is organized. The 10 "Infusers" gave me stepping stones to guide me to the success I deserve. Mr. Howards "Time-Out" pages helped reinforce important lessons and made them practical for me! I am now removing the barriers that block my dreams!!! Thank you Ty Howard for caring enough to help me untie the knots that tie up my life!

The best part about this book is the seven stepping stones that Lauren guides the reader through that will transform their life. Not another academic study of the transformational process, Lauren writes from a place of personal knowing. Her traumatic personal experience is chronicled here for all to read, as are the experiences of many others. A masterful storyteller, Lauren weaves her strategy for transformation with inspiration and tools for success for anyone standing at the precipice of change.

An emotionally uplifting and energizing self-help book.
