A Straight Woman's TakeReview Date: 2008-04-07
I would tell anyone grappling with their sexuality or that of a loved one's to go out and get the book immediately! It definitely spiced up our life!
Original and insightful, a fascinating readReview Date: 2006-03-16
Jack Morin centers his discussion around what he calls the "erotic equation." This is that attraction plus obstacles equals excitement. He then goes on to explain how lust and romantic love operate as well the dynamics of what he calls emotional aphrodisiacs. These are emotional states that could lead to the transformation of an emotion into sexual feelings. Some of these are obvious, but others such as anxiety or guilt are less obvious until you read Morin's detailed explantions.
I also think this book is useful for those who are trying to understand some the dynamics underlying infidelity. If you have interests along those lines, I also recommend "The Evolution of Desire" by David Buss and "Private Lies" by Frank Pittman.
Unfortunately, many of the other books I've found that deal with the erotic imagination or motivation for sexual behavior are sorely lacking in depth or treat the topic in an overly academic, clinical or arm's length manner. This book has a lot of meat and is written in a style that makes the concepts accessible to everyone, not just professionals working in this field.
Everyone needs a copyReview Date: 2006-02-22
I found that the answers, for what I thought were strange behaviors, were inside of me the whole time, they just needed to be explored. Now I love myself even more for understanding myself in a much deeeper level.
If you have had even one sexual thought (that's everybody who is reading this)...you need a copy of this book. All sexual orientations, male and female alike, can find something in this book that will make you think that Dr. Morin is speaking directly to you.
This may unlock what holds you back in your whole lifeReview Date: 2005-09-10
That is why this book is great, because Dr. Morin challenges you to appreciate the impact that your erotic life and dilemmas have on your whole life. Feelings you may have buried in fear or shame turn out to be real messages about who you are. I recommend this book for anyone who feels they've had a complicated sexual adjustment, which I suspect is everyone who has gone through puberty. If you are ready to be compassionate towards yourself, this book can help to change your life.

Common Sense Career AdviceReview Date: 2008-06-09
He refers to successful people as "navigators." According to Dr. Jackson, navigators have three traits in common. Navigators: 1) Steer the course of their lives, rather than allowing themselves to be buffeted by waves of circumstance; 2) chart their course by cultivating the key qualities of passion, focus and resilience; and 3) take personal responsibility for, and are fully in charge of their lives.
Dr. Jackson concludes each chapter with a common sense summary he calls "Compass Points." The five Compass Points for Chapter 7 are:
1. Know where you're going and the results you want to achieve.
2. Create a plan to move through the gap.
3. Clarify the specific actions you're going to take.
4. Don't wait until events determine you're fate; take the initiative.
5. Learn from your mistakes and always keep you end state, or goals in mind.
There is a lot of common sense wisdom in these five statements. I particularly like number 4. I often tell my coaching clients that successful people don't wait for things to happen to them, they make happen the things that they want.
I also like the fact that Navigating for Success has a lot of stories and checklists. The book opens with a story about Dr. Jackson's childhood in Brooklyn - including playing stickball in the street and his fond remembrances of the long departed Brooklyn Dodgers. This book format both engaged me and got me thinking about what I need to do to continue my success.
In short, Navigating for Success is a very readable book filled with practical, common sense advice. Dr. Jackson is my kind of guy. I love what he's written and how he's written it.
Helping you find and execute your life planReview Date: 2008-05-21
After identifying and labeling personal styles, Jackson starts with helping readers identify their passions and what they need to do to achieve them. This discussion is not limited to work goals but extends to cover family, personal life, financial life, health and relationships. Next comes dealing with your own emotions, and after that, communicating with others (after all, you will need their help to achieve your goals). After that, he covers unexpected situations.
Like those who advocate spiral-learning techniques, Jackson returns to dealing with emotions, but this time he focuses on dealing with other people's emotions. Some of the examples he gives refer to dealing with emotions in a group setting. In keeping with the spiral-learning techniques, Jackson next discusses team building, empowerment motivation and conflict resolution. The last few chapters are shorter than the preceding ones and summarize the overall message of the book.
Jackson's writing style is crisp and concise - even the longest chapters can be read in under fifteen minutes. The paragraphs are fluid and the examples help understand the concepts Jackson is presenting. My only real criticism is that the text would have benefited from the services of an editor. It's not that Jackson's writing needs to be clearer, its just that there were a few annoying typographical errors that a conventional spell check would not be able to pick up (for example "sin" instead of "seem"). Fortunately, these errors are rare.
Overall, this is an excellent book. The content is well presented, and I like Jackson's approach of starting with the self and then moving to others. By using metaphors and symbols associated with sailing, Jackson provides a workbook blueprint that is inspiring, thoughtful and thought provoking.

Live life as a navigator, not a survivor or victim!Review Date: 2008-05-13
"...For whatever dream you choose to pursue, this book will show you how to be a more confident and effective Navigator for success." Moss wrote, "Who are Navigators? They are individuals who steer the course of their lives, rather than allow themselves to be buffeted about by waves of circumstance, past experience or emotion. Navigators chart their course by cultivating the key qualities of passion, focus, resilience, and a sense of adventure. Rather than viewing problems as obstacles, they seize them as opportunities..." Moss also discusses the ways of survivors and victims, and analyzes the reasons for their failures.
"Navigating for Success: Passion, Goal & Action" has 7 parts: Steering Your Life, Mapping Your Course, Riding Your Inner Wave, Ship to Shore: Getting Connected, Storm Warning, Building Your Crew and Setting Sail. Each part is divided into several chapters with real life examples and a simple question section at the end.
"Navigating for Success: Passion, Goal & Action" has 137 pages. It is a useful book for those seeking business and professional success and striving to achieve personal goals.

It was an easy read, even while dealing with deep and emotional issues. Tina Thomas has a clear, no-nonsense, down-home style which goes right to the heart of the matter. This is one of the best books I have read about improving one's attitude and eliminating all traces of the negative. It also makes a wonderful gift for friends and loved ones. After reading it, I obtained ten of them for my best buddies!

With the help of his Special Lover, Michael explains in step by step detail the art of finding and enjoying every ounce of pleasure the g-spot climax invokes. This book is small enough that anyone man or woman can conceal in a jacket pocket, or purse to pull out in times when a little "reference" may be needed.
I would recommend The Holy G-rail to anyone trying to discover ways to spice up a relationship or are looking to heighten the sexual experience with their partner. Mr. Schuessler is a remarkable writer that really enforces the word, "hands on," the diagrams are also helpful. There are more books to come in the pleasuring series so be on the lookout for those, but for the time being go out and pick up your copy of The Holy G-rail today and start experiencing what you've been missing. 5 Hearts

Passion for CreationReview Date: 2002-10-17
We indeed are indebted to Matthew Fox for his integration and synthesis of the core of Eckharts thought. His is a rich, systematic presentation of Eckharts vision of the holiness and blessing of that which we call life.
His commentaries will provide many hours of delightful and challenging reflection for those whose path or journey leads them in the direction of intellection and erudite study. For those who are of the western contemplative or eastern meditative tradition, or anyone whose joy it is to spend time in deep prayer, will find in Eckharts thoughts, a path which is delightfully familiar, one that gives credence and expression to their everyday experiences, and will truly make one feel at home in their growth in spirituality
Spiritual food for starving soulsReview Date: 2000-03-13
The full text is presented in Fox's four path's of creation spirituality. Fox's commentary is deep, eloquent and helpful. Eckhart's writings on "letting go and letting be" take us very close to a meeting of the Occident and the Orient. Stranded on a desert island, this is the book I would choose.
Passion foro Creation: The Earth-honoring spirituality of Meister EckhardtReview Date: 2005-08-14
Pure GeniusReview Date: 2005-10-20
This is one of the most important spiritual books I have. Along with Bernadette Roberts' books, Eckhart is probably about as far as you can go towards a universal spirituality within the christian framework (i'm not a Christian by the way). It's not conservative stuff, no way, no repressive crap here - this is liberation, love and life. Did you know Eckhart was a large intellectual influence on Heidegger? "God is Being". His work is obviously pantheistic - God is the world, the world is an aspect of God. It's fully world loving and accepting. If you swapped "God" for "Dzogchen" then there would be a large cross-over with that Tibetan tradition. i.e being is present and presence is the creative/energetic aspect of the godhead.
If your liberal in your spirituality, if you love the earth like your mother, if you've got a brain and can think - then this book is for you. Thank-you to Matthew - great job! Eckhart lived 1260 to 1329 and more important and relevant now than ever.
