Passion The Books

I wanted passion. What did I get? The biography of a dead dude. There were no erotic scenes. I was a bit disappointed. But overall an interesting read, if you like that sort of thing.

This is a great series.Cetin Ikmen is a wonderful character, and Nadel brings Turkey to life through her writing. I can hardly wait to see the Golden Horn. Highly recommended. I actually like this series better than Donna Leon's books, which are outstanding.

I bought this book for my 2 year old daughter Sarah. We don't read the words much yet, but the photos are outrageously funny to her. She giggles till it hurts. This book stays on the coffee table.

I highly recommend this book as a must read for anyone managing people or working on skill development to move into a leadership position of any kind.
Wayne's book provides practical positive solutions to real life employee issues surrounding negativity, including toxic personalities, harassment and disengagement to name a few. He uses his story telling ability to engage the reader throughout and his style of writing makes the lessons easy to understand, unlike many business books I have read.

In "A Passion for Life", theologian Joan Chittister and artist and iconographer, Robert Lentz, combine to illustrate and describe the lives of twenty-one major figures of the last two millennia.

These choices are not conventional, and though some of them may are familiar, others are obscure. Many of these icons were not Catholic, some not Christian. All, however, were profoundly influential, and served to transform their societies and those following them: whether through martyrdom, like Oscar Romero, or from the walls of her cell, like Julian of Norwich. Both Lentz's beautiful illustrations and Chittister's essays provide inspiration and food for contemplation and thought. A wonderful collection.

There were too many jumps and blotches between Jack Hodgins' wrtten words and the paraphrases. Very useful for the short story segment in OAC Writers Craft with Mr. Gorman. Many thanks for a much used book.

This is one of my very favorite books about needlepoint. The author is passionate about her subject. The photography is superb and the designs are varied and spectacular. There are no graphs in this book, but an expert stitcher could copy the photographs as many are large enough to see individual stitches. If you have a library of needlepoint books, but don't have this one--search for it in out of print books!!!

Everyone loves pasta in one way or another and I am noe exception. Recently I found myself becoming bored with the same old pasta dishes. This book has renewed my enthusiasm for pasta. The dishes range from the simplest to the more time consuming masterpieces. It contains a recipe for every ocassion and every person!

I really enjoyed this book. It is packed with layouts that you can do with the tools and materials you already own. The authors were sure to go into detail about how to choose colors for layouts. Also, the layouts were awesome. I wouldn't recommend this book to beginners though.

As a spiritual director in a large Roman Catholic parish, this is a book I regularly hand out to my parishioners and to those beginging spiritual direction. It is a great resource for folks who are "not there yet" in terms of spirituality. It leads the reader to a solid understanding of the need for decision in the spiritual journey and points clearly to the person of Jesus and His redemptive Holy Week journey as the focus and the standard for the travel. Jones is directive without being tryannical, Christian, without scaring off the beginner. I would not hesitate to give this book to those starting or in the midst of spiritual growth, those convinced or those questioning. AND its enjoyable!
