I remeber this cookbook from when I was a kid. (I am 24) The recipes are very good and easy to follow. I now work as an after school teacher and am always on the lookout for no bake cookbooks but can never find them. If you work with kids and want to do a cooking project but don't have access to a stove, this book can't be beat! The heart tarts are wonderful.

There are many books available on shipping law and carriage of goods by sea, but this one explains the international treaties, causes of dispute, conflict of laws, and essential shipping documents and contracts in a way that would make it an ideal text book. The writer runs a college course in the UK and clearly has had time to develop his methodology for clear explanations.

An Early Sociological Analysis of the Libertarian Party
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-01-03
Strauss's study on the sociology of the Libertarian Party was a pioneering work and many of his findings remain relevant today. The introduction by Michael Hoy is an excellent participant observation account of the Michigan Libertarian Party. Libertarianism is a significant sociological phenomenon in the United States, which is often at odds with the Libertarian Party. Strauss's study shows why. He explains that "Party" libertarians are of three basic types and shows how the sociological relationships between these various types sometimes culminate in some very unlibertarian, and at times comical, behavior. As an insider's account, it is quite valuable. It is also an example of some of the advantages of participant observation as a research method.

A re-reable board book; lots to discuss with your toddler.

A bright and friendly lift-the-flap book. The flaps are indestructable, and the photographs are clear and interesting, featuring young toddlers in familiar settings. The story line is simple and repetitive: Cathy is looking for her (first) birthday cake. Appropriate for children as young as 9 or ten months old; my son is 2 and still enjoys it. Other books in the series include Billy's Boots, Ken's Kitten, and Meg's Monkey

A SUPER gift for others or yourself!

I am a teacher and this cookbook was given to me as a gift by a student. I absolutely LOVE it. I'm not a "natural" in the kitchen... I am always in charge of bringing ice or Cokes to events. But, this cookbook makes cooking not only easy, but pleasurable(!) and vegetarian friendly.

If you are hosting a party, it breaks down chapters into seasonal foods or themes(golf party, salsa party, BBQ hoedown, etc...), but these parties are fun and "doable" and not serious and Martha Stewartesque. This is a blessing for someone who doesn't have time or inspiration to put an event together. However, it is also easy to use the index and pluck out something tasty for this evening.

There are suggestions to go with each theme (decorations, activities, music, invitations.) The chapters always list an appetizer, drink, main course, and dessert. Recipes list calories and grams of fat. Helpful hints and food facts are listed throughout. And, best of all, every single thing I've cooked from this book has been excellent. You've got to try the restaurant quality "Country Corn on the Cob" and super tasty "Mulled Punch." My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Finally, a cookbook for the kitchen-phobes!

Working people really can change the world...a guide
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2002-05-24
You want to fight but your union's too weak and buddy-buddy with management...everyone sits in their own language groupings in the cafeteria - will people ever get together?...how can we get out of the mess that lay-offs and soaring cutbacks in social services are making of our lives? This book is a fantastic handbook for those of us who want to figure out what step to take next. It isn't an easy recipe for bandaids. It lays out that we have to be worldly-wise strategists who understand that unity forged through struggle is key. The prize: taking political power like working people did in Cuba over 40 years ago. We have to use the tools we have - the unions, for example, exasperating though they may be -- to reach each other and create a political party, a real fighting communist party, that can lead us to help transform all of society. Thought-provoking and concrete. A real treat.

Speel meticulously explains how the South is a kind of poison apple of American politics. After the Civil War the Democrats won the South but lost most of the Presidential elctions. Now it turns out that the Republicans own the South but are having difficulty winning Presidential elections. A splendid insight! This book is a place to being understanding American politics.

First-class treatment of the subject
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2000-07-25
After finishing this book, it is hard to imagine there can be anything left to say about Charles James Fox. The familiar picture emerges of a politician who didn't have the skills or temperament of Pitt the Younger and hence was in opposition for most of his career. Yet Mitchell also makes two very interesting observations. First, Fox often preferred his private social life to politics. Did he, in fact, spend more time at the race track and at his London club than at the House of Commons? Secondly, Fox was less of a radical than most of his contemporaries thought. He was not, for instance, especially keen on far-reaching parliamentary reform. A big thumbs-up for this biography, not least for quoting verbatim from the strong language of certain original sources!
