Conservative Republicans Revealed
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2000-09-23
This book is a masterful summation of modern day conservative republican thinking and behavior. Although presented in an unflattering light, Mr. Blue provides concrete examples of their thinking without creative editing. At the same time he shows how they have distorted or ignored the writings of the founding fathers and the bible to support their twisted views. It's almost as if he has been channeling the right wing viewer callers to C-SPAN rather than Machiavelli.

An Eye Opener for the Critical Citizen

Machiavelli's Republican should prove to be an eye opener for any critical citizen. It is an excellent vehicle for stating what many of us have already intuited for years. I would recommend it highly to anyone who is serious about wading through the manufactured morass of "PoliSpeak and PoliDo" that is modern American politics.

Dr. Blue's, through the personna of Machiavelli, depicts the Republican philosophical platform and their methods in a clear and irrefutable form.

What this book is missing is an expanded view of how Machiavellian thinking affects all of American politics and not just the Republican Party form of it.

No TV tonight!

I think I will try weaving a big yarn web in our tv room tonight (just like the book suggests! ), and turn off that ol' TV. It will be a whole lot better for the kids (and us) than watching Third Rock from the Sun, don't you think? I'm excited about the variety of pretend and play ideas in this book, and am especially interested in the chapter that gives pretending projects and activities to go with favorite children's books like Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild Things are. Yes, even Curious George is there!

This is the best book I have seen on what kids can make to motivate and enhance their pretend time. Let's turn off more tv's and get kids busy with their imagainations! Excellent book.

The parallels to CBS are right on. The US government is being controlled by god-fearing men and a supreme court with their own god. What about my god? What ever happened to the separation of church and state? A must read!!!

This novel is an eye opener of our superficial "godverment".I found it incredibly compelling to take a walk through the author's mind as he unveils such ruthlessness and hypocracy! A must read,to know the truth and have the truth set you free of doubts, confusion and disappointments!

A great satire on TV news.

"Minutemen News" is the most perceptive political (and television) satire I have read in years. Like George Orwell in "1984", Berry invents his own language to warn about the hypocrisy of a bureaucratic "godvernment", and a lapdog media. Some of the terms he uses include "liberty harassment" and "libertyism", bias against people who believe in and practice free will. But the best part of the novel is Berry's running joke of a "He said/She said" U.S. Senate Confirmation Hearing, where Supreme Court Nominee "David Chang" is accused of "double-entendre harassment" by his former employee, "Nikki Darling".

I really like the book, because I think it's really cool that Michelle met a Movie Star on the beach and didn't even recognize her until she got home. It shows that movie stars are real people just like the rest of us. I would love to be a movie star.

I enjoy the Full House Michelle books very much and own many and check many out from the local libary. Keep writing them Ms. Dubowski. I look forward to my summer vacation so I will have more time to read them. I am sorry they took new shows of Full House of the air on TV. Megan

The Book that is changing China
Helpful Votes: 12 out of 14 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-28
By now almost 5 million Chinese have (at least symbolically) quit the Communist Party... because of reading this book.

I am German, and of course my life now would propably be way worse if the Berlin Wall would still be standing. But back then there was nothing like this book. So even though the people back than all wanted freedom, and peacfully stud up against the regimes that surpressed them, they where still doing so within communist idea's and called it a "revolution" and stuff.

By reading this book I realized one major point, namely that communism, and even marxism are based on violence. It pretends to free people from violence and suppression, by using violence and suppression (against the capitalists). But if one counters violence and suppression with violence and suppression, what other than violence and supression could one expect to get?

Many people think that all the terrible things that happened in communist countries and are STILL happening in China, are because power-hungry people used communism, and changed it to reach their selfish goals. But after reading this book you will understand that all those terrible things didn't happen by accident, and that communism really IS that bad.

This book is different from everything about communism before.
Even such famous books like "1984", mainly focused on the METHODS that communist nations use to controll people, but "1984" didn't analyze the communist ideology itself. It didn't point out what that ideology IS. This seems to be the only book that has done that in all detail necessary, and even though the way it is written, sounds a bit strange for non-chinese people (having a lot of words like "evil" and stuff in it) in my opinion it is still by far the best book on the subject even for westerners, and anyone who wants to understand communism, and what's going on in China right now, should read ths book in it's entirety (and not just look at it's headlines :-)

For Taiwan readers like me, are not so supprised for the content of this book. Because democratic country Taiwan has lived beside this rogue-ruler for 50 years. Everyday, China threatens to attack Taiwan by its military force. Taiwan's people lived under scare for 50 years. This book unveils the true spirit of China government to west, tell you all about what formed current China government. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK to look into bones of China government.

A Must Read Book to understand Chinese People

Out of all the books I have read about China and communism, none of them compare to this book when it comes to truly understanding Chinese people. It is hard to imagine for most Westerners what it must be like to live under communist rule for over 50 years. After reading this book I now can understand Chinese people in much greater depth. This is one of the most powerful books I have ever read. I recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about China and Chinese people, especially if you are thinking about doing business in China.

Tired of listening to all your friends and coworkers talk about how much fun they have playing Texas Hold'Em. I was, but not knowing how to play kept me from going to any games. I saw this book on line and decided to give it a try. The book was great !!! Very easy to read and gave me all the basic rules and strategies. I went to my first game last weekend and came in second place !!!! Now I can't wait to play again. Don't miss out on the fun.

This book is terrific for newcomers to the Texas Hold 'em scene. Everything you need is right here in an easy to follow layout. The book is designed for both the novice and the more experienced player. I found that once I had read the book I could easily go back and find the section that I was interested in. The strategy sections are particularly helpful. I found the advice on when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em especially good.

What a precious book. From the day I read about it in the paper, I was interested. Several of my friends look for ways to entertain our kids at their birthday parties. This book itself is a birthday parthday theme. I ordered two just from reading the review in the paper. I just received them today. I have read it and are now at the computer ordering more for several kids birthday's. Kids spend to much time watching games on TV and not enough time playing them. The book encourages family time, too. You can tell it was written from her heart with the true love for children and their happiness. Thank you for writing this book!

GAMEKIDS, international natural play webmagazine and club highly recommends this book to our members. The book features some of the best games for children of all ages to play. The book contains some of the classics - many of which children today perhaps have never heard of (i.e. kick the can, run sheep run, horse, etc.)

There are over 200 games: outside games, car games, card games, singing games and campfire songs, and some of the best party games we've seen!

This is truely a classic which every family, school, and library should have!

Though a political novice myself, I thoroughly enjoyed this insightful look into the campaign process. The author's direct and matter-of-fact approach to the highs and lows of working behind the scenes on the presidential campaign trail was refreshing and engaging from the start. I highly recommend Only in New Hampshire!

Review Date: 2004-03-15
BJ Rudell puts together a fascinating first-hand account of his time on the 2000 Bradley Presidential campaign in New Hampshire. BJ does a wonderful job of bringing readers into the campaign, making them care, and giving them a real sense of what it is like to work on a campaign of that size. He beautifully sums up how close you get to the candidate and the campaign, how your feelings change towards both your candidate nad your opponent, and just how much work campaigning can be.

I would strongly recommend that anybody interested in politics, or considering doing any political volunteer work read this book immediately. It was a book I didn't want to put down.

This program exemplifies the potential quality audio has for complementing text. Soothing music introduces and links the stories and verses. Subtle sounds of nature immerse the listener in Pooh's world and provide a backdrop for Peter Dennis's enchanting performance. Dennis's ability to switch characters and moods allows him to accurately portray the range of characters in the stories. These talents shine prominently in the "When We Were Very Young" poems. All ages will enjoy this marvelous performance of Milne's words.
