Explanation of RevelationReview Date: 2001-12-24
This small, pamphlet sized, book contains over 50 charts that help explain the prophecies of Revelation to the layman - and they're still interesting to the student of Biblical Prophecy as well. There's also some info from the book of Daniel as well that really helps explain the prophecies of Revelation. The charts really help bring out the important details of the prophecies concerning the End Times.
One of my favorite charts shows the exact boundaries of the land that was "deeded" to Abraham and his descendants by God. This really helped me understand why Israel considers the land of Palestine to be their property. It includes the vast majority of modern-day Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, and stretches over all the way to Kuwait! Later charts explain the twelve tribes of Israel including who they were and who they became, and many others.
If you don't have "Revelation Visualized" by Kirban, then this book is worth finding.

Christology of RevelationReview Date: 2000-10-05
I enjoyed his writing on the slain lamb image. He makes a good case as to how the lamb imagery may have functioned in the first century Asiatic Christian community.
I wasn't really thrilled about this book. While interesting, it went on too long about the son of man imagery. I also found aggravating the too many "I agree" statements. Often Slater will list various positions scholars have on Revelation and say "I agree." But he does not really say why he agrees.
Maybe a scholar with a PhD would enjoy this book more. I found it dry; albeit, I did learn a great deal. If you do not mind a book that is rather dull reading, you still may appreciate this book for he does often do a good job of explaining the Chritological images in Revelation.

Epic Sci-fi SagaReview Date: 2008-05-27
I say this because there is a dialect between the brothers and those they meet, which consists of "slang". I think this is a novel that most 16-30 year olds would enjoy. Now to tell you a little bit about Clash at Creeden.
The ancient Prophecy of Nostradamus has already been set in motion; the only question is who will be the Phenix? There are three brothers, Princes none the less, that have the ability to fulfill this prophecy, but only one will become the Phenix. Which one will of the three will it be? Two have risen from the dead and together they must work with each other to save the souls of Novus Atlantis.
Along the long journey, the brothers, come in contact with many different races or creatures if you will...vampiricles, werewolves, half ape creatures and many more. This story has a lot going on. There are also music references for the rock lovers out there, Trajan carries an illusion guitar as his weapon of choice, but be wary of the flute.
Voices and images drift in and out of the to be, Phenix's mind and when he comes face to face with the woman of his dreams he is at a loss for words. But there is not much time to make acquaintances again, there is a battle brewing and it must be taken care of!
The Sunz of the Zodiac are three great and talented minds that have come together to pen a really different sci-fi tale. The letter s is mostly replaced by the letter z, and a lot of slang such as dude, cuz, and hommie are spliced into the conversations. This book is written in play/theater format in my opinion. While it was interesting to read, I did get hung up on the z's and the introduction was confusing for me. I think I would like see this on a stage, maybe it would be a sold out performance. 3.5 Hearts

Thorough Research BookReview Date: 2004-03-18
The book is very well researched and contains many charts and graphs. The author takes a conservative stance, but gives all evangelical views a fair shake (not just his own). It covers from Victorinus and the Church Fathers to Hal Lindsey and Tim LaHaye. It is very useful for those who are curious about the various views or want a teaching text.

Just because this book wasn't what I expected doesn't mean to say that I didn't enjoy it... I did. Anybody with an interest in historical artwork, myth, epic literature, astrology and geography and, of course, history, will get something out of this title.
Being an astrologer I was particularly interested in the author's journey in following the Sun around the globe until finding its resting place... the Tropic of Capricorn. He describes his journey like this:
".... I also knew (because I had done it before, in 1961), that if I began to follow the Sun south, across the curve of the earth, trying to get beneath it, so that it would be directly above me at the apex of the sky at noon during the winter, I would end up in Mexico City, I would end my journey at the Tropic of Capricorn, the northern House of the Sun, ...". p. 92
This particular passage caught my eye because in our age of computer simulations, program, etc, the average person has lost contact with the actual events that shape the perception of life. For example, as an astrologer I have a software package that tells me where the planets are in the sky at any particular moment. Although using this method to draw up a birth chart is probably much more technically accurate than going outside and looking at where they physically are, or calculating them manually, some of the magic and awe of nature is taken away by using modern methods of understanding the world around us.
On another level I was interested in finding out more about the possible ritual deformation of shamanic `rejects'. Also, `waterworld' interested me as I have not heard of this mentioned in any other myths. The waterworld is described as a world between the earth and underworld.
Even though I don't feel qualified enough to rate this book, I am qualified to find it fascinating. The only problem I has with "The Book of Ancient Revelations" was figuring out how to pronounce some of the words - I feel this is important because the author was trying to link different words as part of his theory, and pronunciation is important as part of this.
As mentioned previously those of you with an interest in - and good understanding of - history, astrology, shamanism, historical artwork or in the evolution of modern civilization will find something in this interesting book to get your attention.
