This fictional novel is refreshingly different, intelligent and interesting because I have not seen an African-American based novel with this type of twist. For a fairly old, secret, wealthy and powerful African group to be behind the unification of Africa and the suggestion of an African-American President of the United States for the soul purpose of achieving a goal set forth over two centuries ago is simply brilliant, courageous and remarkable. The main character "William Harris" is intellectually gifted, confident and charismatic. The flow is a little fast and you have to pay attention because things change quite quickly. The one thing you should be aware of is that just when I was beginning to understand who was who in this international web it came to an end. Now I can't wait for the sequel. There will be a sequel, want there Mahonek?

There are so many great works out there today, but I have never read anything so soundly supported by the Word as this one.

This is a well documented and delightfully written survey of the history of the interpretation of Revelation. Accessible to both specialist and generalist, it deserves to be read by all interested in Revelation

Cameron Afzal had always been a great writer but this book really captivates you on re-envisioning the end of time. 5 stars all the way if u havent then order this right away. Afzal you've done it again!

I needed a teaching resource for a Bible study on revelation, and the Navarre series did not disappoint. Not only does this edition have excellent commentary on John's Revelation, but there are also many quotes form Patristic sources that make teaching this to a class very easy and interesting.

This book is a great resource for those who not only want to study and understand the book of Revelation but also who desire to see how it is relevent to today's world. What I love most about this book is its many practical applications that make a somewhat confusing book like Revelation applicable to daily life. This book is written mainly for a teenage audience. It is very simply written, so for those wanting a deeper theological understanding, this is a good starting point but probably shouldn't be the final destination. I'm using it now to lead a Bible study with some high school girls on Revelation and we love it!

I just recieved this text and am happy I did. Finally, a compact, easy to understand peace on the ancient city. This text brings clarity to our understanding of the text of Revelation and to the ancient understanding of cities in general. Using anthropology, Malina once again helps current readers come to a better and clearer understanding of ancient culture. I wish this was out earlier for my former students. A great tool for scholars and students alike and a more than affordable addition to any library.

This is a great source to understand the Book of Revelation. The art work is something else, and I'd recommend it to anyone trying to get a grasp on this Book in the Bible.

In the early part of the 20th century the spiritual movement had no greater proponent than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who was a famous author and medical doctor. He believed in the principles of spiritualism that encompassed areas that we today refer to as ESP, psychic experiences and metaphysics. It accepted the existence of a soul and eternal life, while offering an intriguing view of existence in relationship to a greater being. Life was considered a continuum, a progression into ever greater knowledge and understanding that connected the souls of all people. He published this book in 1918 as an account of his personal investigation into the world of spiritualism and it became the most influential statement of the movement. His ideas and beliefs are stated in a clear and concise manner as he examines psychic experiences, life after death, mediums, automatic writing and related phenomena. The text includes three separate pieces on specific topics: The Cheriton Dugout, Automatic Writing and The Next Phase Of Life. The introduction by George J. Lankevich provides a short biography of Conan Doyle and a discussion of his literary works, while the afterword illumines Sir Arthur's friendship with the famous magician Harry Houdini with quotes from their personal correspondence. The book contains a useful index, while many classic works on spiritualism are mentioned in the text that thus serves as a type of bibliography. This little book was a pleasure to read and I daresay Conan Doyle was far ahead of his time with his observations on traditional religion and his holistic view of spirituality.
