The Book of Legends is the first in a series. The first novel is more than mere introduction, as it is a complete adventure of Tane Willowstorm as he is destined to fulfill a prophecy, as written by the gods, before the begining of life.

Discover the legend and lore of a world known as Asintania as you follow Tane and his unusual friends as they fight against time and overwhelming odds in order to not only save Asintania, but Earth as well. Did I mention Tanes' wife and unborn child were also in grave danger?

Let yourself go to Asintania, where magic prevails over science and the logical answer isn't always the right answer.

A most enjoyable book - whether or not you are an actor.

Short, but fully packed, this book delivered far more than I expected. A fun read, these original monologues, followed by many tips on the audition process, run the gamut of emotion in various situations. Light, heavy, dark, romantic, comedic, loud, tentative, angry - it's all in there, and much more. There is a suggestion on how to approach and convey each monologue. Though not an actor, I couldn't resist repeatedly trying the monologues out loud. I highly recommend this book.

Wonderful Little Book about a most missunderstood Book

I don't want to get too wordy about this book. I discovered it sometime in the early 1980's and have purchased many copies over the years mostly to be used in conjuction with Sunday School classes on the subject that I taught from time to time.

It has one of the best and most concise introduction of any book on Revelation that I have read. Mr. Boer then presents brief commentary in chapters concluding with a very helpful and meaningful section MEANING FOR TODAY after each of his chapters. Mr. Boer writes this book as a missionary in Nigeria and with a freshness that is removed from the millenial/dispensational hub-bub in the West.

This book was first published in 1979 and is still every bit as relevant today as it was then. I was so disappointed when it went out of print. I even wrote Eerdmans Publishing at the time. But am so grateful for the internet and services like Amazon that make locating out of print books very easy.

I just purchased another used copy of this book as I often loan out the last copy that I have and I don't ever want to have a book like this be permanently lost from my library. This is such a small paper back book and just 157 pages long. But it is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Very much like the Book of Revelation itself.

Demystifying an Often Confusing Text
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 8 total.
Review Date: 2006-05-30
Cory, who chairs the theology department of the University of Saint Thomas, stresses in her introduction that the Book of Revelation, like all of Scripture, can be properly understood only in relation to its social and historical context. She cautions against viewing Revelation as a timeline useful in preparing for the end of the world, or a "war manual" applicable to the battle between righteous and evil forces. Instead, we can find in Revelation a challenge to embrace right behavior in our everyday lives. She proceeds through a verse-by-verse examination to demystify this often disturbing and confusing text.

Her early explanation of the symbolic numbers and colors in the Book of Revelation prepares us to understand their intended significance as they are presented in the series of visions that make up the text. She also highlights patterns of the number seven in Revelation, as in the visions of last things in chapters 19 and 20. Returning to the caution against literal interpretation, Cory points out that the end-times visions are presented in "highly mythical language," that calls for symbolic, rather than historical, interpretation. "However, the message is clear: God is just and God is sovereign. God will indeed vindicate the righteous and punish the wicked."

This work, as others in the New Collegeville Bible Commentary series, is designed with the reading, with boldface subheadings, running across the top of each page, and the commentary, with related bold headings, printed below. Discussion questions and a map of the Seven Churches of Revelation are provided.

Part of the Bible Believers Commentary Series, this book is the best available on Revelation. To study Revelation, I recommend studying Clarence Larkin's "Revelation" and this one. Dr. Ruckman always comments on the scripture, comparing scripture with scripture, while remaining in subjection to the scripture. Excellent book.

"Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet. Loud voices in heaven cried out: THE KINGDOM OF THE WORLD NOW BELONGS TO OUR LORD AND TO HIS ANOINTED ONE, AND HE SHALL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER."

Is this passage the key to the whole Book of Revelation? Father Tickle contends it is. In this passage, Jesus is Lord of the universe, calling the entire world, Christian and non-Christian, to repentance and commitment... to resist all evil, never compromising with it.

This book presents a fascinating look at the Book of Revelation from the Catholic perspective, based on 2,000 years of tradition. Father Tickle's sound interpretation shows that Revelation's message is as important to you today as it was to early Christians.

Drawing from various Christian Scripture scholars, the author writes with enthusism in the easy-to-read, easy-to-understand style which distinguishes all his books. His thorough, interesting approach provides insights and understanding of the symbols, message, and theme of the beautiful Book of Revelation. Each chapter concludes with Review/Discussion Questions and a Prayer Reflection to further clarify and solidify the meaning of this often misunderstood invitation to God's people.

Moving Illumination of the Culminating Book of the Bible

This book comes from lectures given by Dr. Rudolf Steiner, the leading Christian initiate of past several hundred years, near the end of his extraordinary life. As usual, he is without peer in his living understanding of the bible and of Christianity. Nowhere else can one find the lucid, reliable, insights that are in this book. Two other excellent books on this topic by Steiner are: "The Apocalypse of St. John" and "Reading the Pictures of the Apocalypse."

I have rarely found bible scholarship of this magnitude or excellence anywhere. If I am ever able to learn to be a real Christian, it will be because of books like this.

No More Fear

This book is nothing short of amazing for explaining the meaning to the Book of Revelation in the Bible. There is no need to cower in fear over the imagery used in the bible's book of revelation. Reading Wallace is indeed a blessing. Fortunately I had alread read Matthew 24 fullfilled, by John L. Bray, and Kenneth Gentry's the Beast of Revelation. These other two books made it a lot easier to comprehend what Wallace is saying. I don't know if I could appreciate Wallace without an introductory book. Wallace is definately graduate level study. All who read him will never again fear over prophecy.
