Voltron is Back!

First fell in love with the Voltron Cartoon back in 84' or so-at the early age of 6. When I first spotted this book on the net-I started fiendin' for those child-hood memories once again. Now, after reading this comic, all those memories from the cartoon start to flourish. All the characters are there:Keith (mission leader-martial arts hobbiest)/Lance (extraordinary pilot)/14 year old-Pidge(systems analyst)/Sven(Combat Specialist)/"Hunk"(engineer). On Planet Arus-Princess Alura has dreams to free her people one day. This is difficult to accomplish when you have evil people-like King Zarkon-Ruler of the 9th Kingdom. He and the evil witch "Haggar" are always up to new tricks to keep the people down.*Reminds me of times today here on earth.* The comic book has great arts/graphics displaying the entire story: Princess Allura can feel "forces converging upon Planet Arus. There is a legend poised to awaken...A champion, an avenger, ready to arise!" That's right it's Voltron! But reborn in a new creation. Way Cool!

I first learned of Voltron back in '99 when they were airing the Voltron the third dimesion series on tv. I was hooked, when I learned that they were coming out with the comic version I couldn't wait. So far it has lived up to my expectations and it's great. I so recommend this omic to anyone who loves the Voltron Universe. Very good entry in recent books on the Great Apostasy

This is the 3rd book I've recently read on the Great Apostasy in the last year. Scott Petersen has clearly done a lot of research and summarized the concepts in an easy to follow manner. Years ago I had read "The Great Apostasy" by James Talmage which focused on the abuses that occurred in the middle ages and touched lightly on what occurred immediately after the apostles deaths since he did not have access to the writings of the early church fathers. Recent research has shown how quickly the Apostasy occurred immediately after time of the Apostles. It is fascinating to see how fast the doctrines changed. This book summarizes that data. The other two books I've recently read are "The Inevitable Apostasy and the Promised Restoration" by Tad R. Callister and "Turning From Truth: A New Look At The Great Apostasy" by Alexander B. Morrison. Morrison's book is the shortest and probably the best summary for someone initially getting into the subject. Callister's and Petersen's books are much longer, but give more details. Both are well written, but from different perspectives. I recommend this book as a very good entry on this subject.15551784725222006-05-20

A needed book for the Christian World

Religion often raises so many opinions that few people are willing to discuss the subject -even objectively. Scott Petersen, fundamentally a businessman, has plowed in where many have feared to tread. He has done his homework by doing extensive research in a serious attempt to truly understand what happened in the early Christian Church and more specifically where that leaves believers in Christ today. I applaud his noble effort and believe he has lifted the cloak of mysticism that has covered reality for too long. Insightful

Palmer comes at the text with decades of experience as one of America's leading preachers, pastoring at the end of his career the largest Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation. He writes for those who preach. <br /> <br />The theme to which he calls our attention is John's emphasis on the centrality of Christ. Palmer notes in both the work on 1John and on Revelation that the cults of the last century went most wrong where they pulled some peripheral element of their faith into the center, where only Jesus belonged. <br /> <br />The only weakness of the text comes from the work on Revelation. Here Palmer reminds us repeatedly that the images of suffering in the text are always bounded. The suffering is never total, because Christ brackets the suffering. However, the curious reader of Revelation wants to know something of why John uses the images that he does. It's hard to walk away from the text knowing that only in some metaphorical way that suffering is limited, when what I wanted to know was: why horses? why scrolls? why trumpets? why animals? If nothing else, a more thorough analysis of the Old Testament sources of the imagery and context of the Roman Empire would have elucidated the text. <br /> <br />Nonetheless, Palmer's work is accessible, practical, and orthodox. Haunting Memories

Alex is Happy driving his truck to eat at the glascow Inn obtaining his Canadian Beer he has brought over from the "Soo" eating his specials of the day and then driving back to his cabin he inherited from his father along with six others that gives him a small income along with his disability check from the Detroit P.D. for a bullet lodged near his heart that gives him more trouble in his brain recalling the incident. Therefore the arrival of a thirty year ago friend with a story of lost love and a need to go to Detroit to find it has Alex wondering what exactly to do. The rest of a fine story prevails and I suggest reading it to enjoy the whole thing. I have two more of his books to read and will wait in suspense to receive whatever new he will write.
