The Middle Realm delivers its prophesy in the form of a novel but it ends with an inspiring exposition, step by step, of a God modern man can rationalize. It reconciles science with the Divine.

The opening chapters took me into a hellish picture of today's world, but the end was truly inspired and inspiring!

I'm a spiritual person searching for answers... I found plenty here... I highly recommend The Middle Realm.

I read this compelling book in 3 nights. The first series of dream quests were really creepy and scary. The author has some interesting, philosophical, and creative ideas about the nature of life and the world. About how we got here and WHERE WE ARE GOING and why the world is in such turmoil. It's a cross between religious philosophy and science fiction all in novel form, if you can imagine that. I guess we all have to go through hell to get to our own version of heaven. Very well written. I recommend it.

A Very High Book About A Very High Being

I have read this book before in the original Indian edition. This new edition by Blue Dove Press is a definite improvement. The book is a true work of love by the author, Richard Schiffman, who is a devotee of Jillellamudi Mother and spent several years with her. I too am her devotee as well as one of Sathya Sai Baba's. The inspiration for my looking her way - for which I am eternally grateful - came principally from Richard's wonderful book. In the past, I have given and lent copies to others on the spiritual path. Many of them were extremely devoted to their gurus and reluctant to read about other holy beings. Nevertheless, literally everyone who read this book was truly inspired, and many insisted that their friends read "Mother of All" as well. Books with this kind of power and ability to transmit the love of God are rare and should be treasured.

I have had several remarkable personal experiences with Mother including being put into a state of bliss lasting over three hours resulting from just a half a second glance at one of her photographs. Jillellamudi Mother, though not well known even in India, seems to have been an Avatar of Adi Shakti, the primordial creative power - truly, the Divine Mother and the mother of us all. To say that such a being is rare is an understatement, and not to find out more about her would be unwise. To be able to look her way with love and an open heart would be a great blessing. Many high souls have said that the path to God realization always goes through the Divine Mother. That's why this book is such a gift to the seeker.

Even though I have never seen Mother in the flesh, when I think of her or see her picture, I feel tremendous longing and tears come to my eyes. With her, teachings and practice don't matter. Of course, it is a good thing to know her life story, but her very being engenders tremendous love - no real need for details. I feel she is my true mother and always has been. Spend a little time thinking of her or concentrating on her picture and you can't help but feel the love which she so perfectly embodies. We are all her children.

There is no better introduction to the Jillellamudi Mother than Richard Schiffman's book, and few books give such heartfelt glimpses into how wonderful the Divine Mother aspect of the Godhead can be.

Enjoyable and very insightful.....

An enjoyable read giving insight into a very inspirational figure. I found the insights Richard gained from Jillellamudi Mother to really help clarify and broaden my own view of what healing is and, also, it was great to read an account of someone who truly lived with a very high awareness of what I will call here, for the sake of simplicity, nondual 'truths' or Awareness of Love.

You can feel the non conditional love while reading this

I have just completed reading this remarkable book. Though I have not been to India or been her devotee, I feel in some way I am now just from experiencing the loving writing of Richard Schiffman. I feel in some way I have opened up more to experiencing things in a non dualistic way. Thank you Richard, thank you Amma

"The Muslim Mind On Trial" is an extremely important book, not only because of the topic it implements, but also because its author is a high authority and a famous scholar of Islam. The clash between secularism and revelation is increasing on and on. And this outstanding book gives a response to it. Materialism and Spirituality are two concepts that are not easy to convive. The book is implementing a practical method to put them together in the same person or nation.Ireally recommend all AMAZON viewers to get the book and read it. It is not too long and, again, is extremely interesting.

As an American Muslim who strives to explain Islam to others, I find Yassine's ideas illuminating and intellectually stimulating. This book encourages Muslims to focus on how they can free their minds from the confusion that has resulted in the aftermath of the Western political, economic, and intellectual dominance of the Muslim peoples. It also provides a clear understanding of the Divine Revelation (the Quran) vis-a-vis the Secular Rationalism, which rules supreme even in Muslim countries, and helps us to discover why some Muslims are unable to strike a balance in their minds between faith and science, Sharia and human rights, and Islam and modernity. Taking the Word of God up high over any other human invention or idea, the author then shows how this dichotomy and its ensuing dilemmas are behind the poor performance of Muslims in the economic and social development of their lives. Yassine also emphasizes the importance of acquistion of modern scientific tools to uplift the Muslim condition and fight oppression, hunger, and violence. His thinking helps those of us who want to show people the true image of Islam in the turmoil and upheavals of today's world.

This seems to be a real vision and is line biblically. Her account of heaven and hell is very real and actually addresses some questions like why hell is needed. It also addresses the meaning of Jesus' sacrifice to humanity.

I would highly recommend it to anyone trying to gain deeper understanding of salvation. It will also inspire in living a right life.

This book is so encouraging for anyone who has lost a loved one. And especially for anyone who has lost a baby. I ordered this while looking for Rebecca Springer's book, "My Dream of Heaven". These two books are both must reads for anyone who really wants to know what heaven is like with detailed descriptions that are uplifting and stunning! These are both page turners and I hope many of you will buy copies for yourself and your friends who will want to read these two books for themselves! Enjoy and spread the "Good News" to others!

I have read a number of commentaries on the Book of Revelation. This is by far the best of them all. It offers a clear elucidation of the text that is helpful for anyone trying to better under this important message from the Lord. I wish all of the premillenialists would consider its logical presentation and thereby gain greater insight in to a book they have so woefully misunderstood.

An excellent commentary on John's Apocalypse

Review Date: 2006-09-01
In this book, Maahs does an excellent job of exploring the intricate details of John's Revelation. Specifically, he links the imagery used in John's apocalyptic writing to the imagery in the apocalyptic writings of the `Old Testament,' e.g. Daniel. This enables readers to anchor John's symbolic, and often confusing, language within his own tradition, i.e. the tradition of a first century Jew. Furthermore, Maahs's provides provocative insights about how said linguistic symbols refer to specific social-historical issues, such as the Roman Emperors and/or Roman cultic practices.

He begins his commentary by analyzing the seven churches. In this analysis, he exposes why each church, in its `uniqueness,' is a targets of John's letter/s. After introducing the churches themselves, he allows his commentary to follow the text, verse by verse, exploring the strengths and weakness of these seven early churches, while equally addressing how these strengths and weakness are directly related to the churches' involvement in the broader Roman community.

Finally, Maahs uses his analysis of these first century churches to expose weaknesses within the modern day church. By doing so, he shows us how the prophetic nature of John's letter is most firmly anchored in its ability to address the church's failure to live out God's call throughout history, whether that be in first century Rome or modern day America.

For those who wish to understand and teach the Revelation.

More than just a simple once over but less than an exhausting word by word commentary on the Revelation, this volume seeks to help the modern student of the book understand its background, historical setting and genre. In addition, this teaching-commentary is meant to represent a model for presenting John's Apocalypse in a class situation, whether that be a church Bible program or a college course. Special attention has been paid to those aspects of Revelation's message which challenge the spiritual vision of the modern Christian community and call it to live out its vocation as the community of the Menorah (John's seven churches are viewed through the image of the seven-branched candelabra of ancient Israel). Useful to layman and scholar.

I was a student of Gerhard Krodel. His Revelation course was so difficult that it wasn't unusual for 50% of the graduate level class to fail. The late Dr. Krodel was the greatest living expert on Revelation. This book is based on solid scholarship; not the ridiculous speculations about future events and end times. If you really want to understand Revelation for what it really is, this is your resource. Don't look for cheesy "Left Behind" sensationalism here. This is a work from one of the great Biblical scholars who was a master of both the times of Revelation and the Koine Greek in which it was written.

The best commentary on Revelation for the next 1,000 years.

I have read this commentary and studied it three times since about the beginning of the 1990's. It ranks in my opinion as the best commentary on Revelation ever written in church history! That is a lot to be said. It is better than the works on Revelation by Ireneus, Waalvord, Lindsay, Darby, Scofield, etc. Krodel penetrates into the heart of Revelation. He gets passed the time line syndrome that has bogged theologians for millenia. Krodel shows us the heart and soul of Revelation and how to survive in the end times. Krodel takes out the foolheartiness so commonly found in prophetic interpretations. I recommend the sound doctrine and exhortation to worship the Lamb as the chief guard against succumbing to the spirit of the Antichrist.

Excellent for the pastor

This is an excellent commentary on Revelation for pastors, preachers and students looking to the pulpit. It is scholarly without being over academic and it is readable. He has the knack of getting to the spiritual meaning of the passage, which makes it especially valuable for pastors wanting to feed their flock. He rightly highlights the twin themes of worship and idolatry, rather than emphasising persecution thus making it more useful to the church in the West. He served as a pastor for four years and I have a strong suspicion that he still regularly preaches; the preacher could easily preach whole paragraphs from this volume.

The introduction is excellent for its history of the misinterpretation of Revelation. It has no footnotes, the Greek is kept to a minimum necessary to bring out the meaning of the text but it is sufficiently detailed to keep the preacher and student happy. The scholar may find that the lack of references to sources and a lack of an index frustrating. I might quibble with the author calling the four living creatures "God's pets", but this is a typical preachers prerogative. I certainly think that the publishers should have made the book from a larger paper size.

However this is still one of the best commentaries available on Revelation today, especially for the preacher. Preachers looking for further application may find Keener useful, which does emphasise current day persecution.

So many books have been written about the Book of Revelation. Most just add to the cacophany and discord. This one is truly a sweet melodious addition to a serious study of the Book of Revelation. His use of the metaphor of music truly helps to communicate the original intent and understanding of this book of the Bible in a most unique way.

Rhapsody is the first of what planned to be a 2 volume work. This book serves as an introduction to the study of Revelation and I understand that a follow up volume will provide commentary for the book. Mr. Lowery writes from a well of study that is at least 30 years deep. He is a loved and respected college and seminary professor who has studied and communicated the Book of Revelation and related issues in classrooms and churches all over the country.

I must confess that I had the opportunity and blessing to be one of Dr. Lowery's college and seminary students during the late 70's and early 80's. I also focused my studies on the Book of Revelation. I was excited to learn that he was finally beginning to write a book like this. And of course I thought I had heard all there was to hear from Dr. Lowery and knew all that he might write in such a book. I was absolutely and wonderfully blown away by how deep and wide his understanding had grown as well as his ability to communicate the richness of this scripture since I had studied with him. He writes with a depth and a freshness that only a faithful servant and humble student of scripture could. And he writes with the simplicity of one committed to communicating God's Word clearly to the church.

I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a clearer understanding of the capstone of God's revelation to His church. I anxiously await volume 2 and thank Dr. Lowery for his addition to the study of what has historically been a confusing book to many if not most. Dr. Lowery doesn't add to the "noise" but brings us sweet sweet music. Thank-you Dr. Lowery.

Dr. Lowery did an excellent job in shedding true light on a very difficult subject. Too many people today don't take into consideration that Revelations applied mainly to the people of John's time - First Century AD. This is a must read for everyone interested in the true meaning of Revelation.
You can tell that a lot of study and thought has gone into this book.

A highly readable and instructive book. Lowery writes his book from the perspective of pastor, preacher, and professor. His book is not a commentary, but as stated in the title, it's a book on "how to read the book of Revelation." The reader is not directed so much as what to believe, but how to arrive at an understanding of the book in a "fair and balanced" manner.

There is an appendix of numerous Old Testament allusions in Revelation, which is most useful. Another appendix is "A Key to Select Symbols In Revelation."

Lowery also includes a glossary of terms, a list of recommended commentaries (graded for three levels of biblical knowledge), and a bibliography. There is no index.

I believe clergy, biblical higher education students, and lay persons alike will enjoy and benefit from Lowery's book.

Although the book is small (222 p.) be prepared to spend extra time to lookup numerous scripture references included. It is time well spent. The book provides an excellent launching pad for further serious study of a New Testament book which is much misunderstood and under appreciated.

As usual, Homer Hailey is ever the teacher. This commentary on The Revelation is concise and well-developed. His intro is worth the price of the book.....but, I am convinced that the value of the book would have been immeasurably increased had Mr. Hailey taken pains to critically examine the claims for a late 1st century date. Had he done so, I am further convinced that, with his consummate skill as an expositor, he would have provided an even better commentary that hinges on the early date. As conservative a development of the 1000-year nonsense as you will ever read!

Definitely a must read.

I am enjoying the fact that I can pick it up and read a book that is teaching me yet at the same time entertaining me. I would recommend it to everyone that wants to learn more about prophecy and the tribulation but is worried that they won't be able to understand it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I especially enjoyed the conversational style of communication, almost as if I were there participating with Jon.

Jon provides as good an interpretation of Scripture both logical and illogical as anyone I have heard or read on Revelation. By this I mean, a person's own beliefs may parallel Jon's interpretation at multiple points yet diverge at others; but, the common goal is to know Jesus Christ. There are many names for Jesus, one of which is Love.

So, if you have been "looking for Love in all the wrong places", Jon's book is a beacon of light indicating the direction to travel. If you already know the "Source" of Love, then you will be blessed by this book.

When I plan to read a new book I first read and look at the cover, inside and out, front and back. I pay particular attention to pictures, graphics, words, fonts, font sizes and the overall quality (or lack of it). Covers encourage my interest or not. A quality cover usually contains quality, as well as a multitude of, information.

I then glance through the Table of Contents, Index, Glossary, Appendixes, etc. if the book has any. I then begin to read the book, again beginning at the front cover then continuing each page in it's proper sequence. Each has a purpose and place in the book and each reveals quality information, even the blank ones.

I have just begun a quality book, written by a quality friend and I haven't begun the first chapter yet!
