This book reveals all the symoblism of John's prophecy by going back through history and the rest of the Bible. I love his descriptions of the seven churches which Jesus wrote to. I knew the "Left Behind" series took everything too literal. This book will help better explain.

This book helped me greatly in preparing to teach an adult Sunday School class about the book of Revelation. Mr. Ironside's insights are most helpful and I believe to be a very good interpretation of John's Revelation of the end times.

I was looking for a book that might help me understand just what was going on in Revelation. I didn't expect too much when I pulled this dusty old book from the shelves in my church's library. I was wrong, though! This is an excellent interpretation, going into plenty of detail and always staying interesting. I have since then also read the first three books in the Left Behind series, and let me tell you, this book far outdistances them! Not to say that they aren't a good read, but I much prefer to read a nice, solid review with plenty of research to back it up (which Ironside's lectures on the Revelation certainly is!). My advice to you is to read this book if you really want to understand what's going on, and read something like the Left Behind books if you're more looking for entertainment with some truth mixed in as well.

Don't read this one in the dark, especially you gals. I tried reading it in bed and I ended up listening in apprehension for any strange creaks or footsteps in the house. Mr. Covington is as good as Stephen King or Dean Koontz or John Saul. He can really put supernatural fear on the printed page.

I am amazed at how versatile a writer H. A. Covington is! The first book of his I read, given to me by a friend, was his beautiful love story "The Stars In Their Path", and then I read "Revelation 9" and find it's a totally freaky and chilling ghost story in the best Stephen King tradition! I am going to order the rest of Mr. Covington's books as well as copies of this one and "The Stars". I can see why they call him an "underground cult novelist"; I am well on the way to becoming a disciple myself.

"Revelation 9" is a really scary book. As a supernatural novel it has overtones of Pet Sematary but much more Southern Gothic in style. In my opinion this is as good as anything Stephen King or Dean Koontz ever wrote, but it's nowhere near as long and digressive and boring as K & K's books have become. That's what happens when the big publishing companies pay their authors by the pound of manuscript they produce. "Revelation 9" is short, the story flows well, the characters are interesting and well drawn, The horror element may be a bit too heavy for some but it's made up for by the flow of the story. This seems to be the only ghost story Mr. Covington has written, judging by his list he's more interested in thrillers and historicals, but I hope he writes more in the supernatural genre.

This oddity provides constant surprises. Beginning with a very standard and cliched plot - the heroine must return to claim her accursed homestead - it is full of enough biblical and fundamental Christian perspective to make me wonder whether it was from a religious publisher. Yet it manages to be pretty creepy, and the ending is a real surprise, in my opinion, given the initial tenor of the tale. Decently written, kept me turning pages through it's simple plot with scary episodes. A step above ordinary cheesy horror.

If there was a way to rate this with a 10 Star rating, I would!!! This book has taken over 2 months to read, as it isn't the kind of book that is "easy reading," although it's incredibly compelling, and vitally important. If you're looking for some mild reading, this isn't the book, but...if you're looking for the meat of the Gospel, this is the one for you!! If you think you'll be raptured soon, you need to read this book!! If you think your current church are devoted followers of Christ, you need to read this book!! Even if you're looking for a challenge and prophetic word, this is the book!!
This book comes highly recommended, and it's a massive wake-up call to those who name the name of Christ. Trouble is brewing and it's coming quickly, says the author, and he gives many examples and loads of Scriptural foundation for it. If you read any book this year, make sure it is this one!! And take your time with it and pray that God would open your eyes to the truth revealed within its pages.
God bless you and help you make sure of your calling!!!

Pastor Pretlow has done an amazing job documenting the state of the Church in America today. I have been a believer for 5 years, and having come out of the occult, was amazed to find as much pagan witchcraft going on inside the organized church as outside. The pulpit in America used to hold the fire of God, but the lamp has been removed. Pastors today are more interested in mammon and buildings than building up the saints. They talk of God's love and His blessings without talking of the sacrifice and suffering we must personally make. This book has convicted me to seek a deeper walk with the Lord by letting the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit take place in my life.

This is an amazing book! It will open your eyes to what is really happening in the world. If you no longer want to be in the dark, this is the book for you. I started reading it and did not want to put it down. I found I could only read about a chapter at a time (it is meat, not milk), then I could not wait to get back to it. A must read for any christian who wants to do the will of our Lord in Heaven. Definitely a blessing you will want to share with those seeking the message. Thank you all for this life changing book! There aren't too many books I can name that have changed my life - but (Revelations of the Unseen) Futuh Al-Ghaib is one of them. The superb translation by Muhtar Holland brings out the true emotion of the Shaikh - whose words leave as much of a lasting impression in print as they must have had on the eager ears and souls of his followers during his lifetime. The real masterpiece of this and other works of Baz Publishers lies in their ability to effectively pass on a traditional and pure worldview to modern man .

A very good companion book for aspirant sufi students. A better one is "Secret of the Secrets" by the same Sufi Master. With a masterly juxtaposition of Quranic verses, quotes from the Hadith and day-to-day layman's questions, this book provides the guiding rules for the pathfinder.

This book is beyond description! Through short (but densely written) discourses, Shaikh (k.s) invites the reader to turn sincerely to God and submit to his will.
Although the text is surely not an introductory one, I think everybody can learn something from this extraordinary book. Highly recommended without the slightest reservation.

The scarcity of interfering editorial commentary in this collection serves to focus attention onto the words of the women whose diaries tell the stories of lives greatly separated by time and distance, culture and age. Featuring women who have found fame and others who lived and died in quiet anonymity, this sampling cries out to be only the first volume in a long series on this subject.
This book IS a revelation.

I highly recommend Moffat and Painter's selection of diary and journal entries by a wide variety of women. They organize the excerpts according to themes related to love, work, and power. Well-known diarists one would expect to be here are, such as Virginia Woolf, Anne Frank, and Anaïs Nin. But some of the most striking are by women that are not well known, at least in America. Hannah Senesh, who did spying work for the early state of Israel; Carolina Maria de Jesus, a Brazilian who grew up in abject poverty; Martha Martin, who survived the ordeal of being stranded in Alaska and having to give birth by herself--these are a few of the extraordinary women in this book. Reading it is like sitting down with strangers who quickly end up friends--and since so many of them are writing because no one around them could listen, they pour out everything in their hearts and minds. The coeditors have a knack for selecting just the right sequence of entries, making the book more than the sum of its parts. Finally, Painter's afterward, titled "Psychic Bisexuality," caps the book with a thoughtful consideration of the significance of diary writing. Anyone who can appreciate self-expressive writing will profit by reading this book. Vintage is to be thanked for keeping it in print for so long.

For the most part, these are some great excerpts from womens' journals (though I wish there had been more than just one diary which was written before the 19th century!). However, it becomes painfully obvious by a lot of the editorial comments and the selection process they admitted to using that this came out in the Seventies. I've read other anthologies of journals like this, and they don't make it obvious which era they came out in. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this came out at the height of womens' lib, and the editors seem like they went a bit overboard. They were certainly well-meaning, but a lot of stuff that came out in this era now looks silly and like people got too carried away in that flush of an era of new possibilities and horizons. Particularly irksome is how they say that they didn't pick journallers based on if they lived in a historically interesting time, but rather admitted "Our own tastes led us to put aside those that posited a self we didn't like or find interesting, and to seek out those that demonstrated character as the ability to make moral distinctions and choices according to a personal code rather than the social or religious codes of the age in which they wrote." So then you'd rather have someone who went against the grain and whose viewpoints jive with your own rather than have someone whose beliefs you might disagree with even if she were personally religious or held to the moral code of her day and age because that was how she felt anyway, with or without the rest of society acting that way. I'd rather read journals from women who lived in interesting historical time periods, not from journals which were selected only because of political or social beliefs. It's like they were trying to find women from other eras whose opinions or personal lives agreed with what was going on in the Seventies, like sexual liberation or not getting married, and admitted that they discarded a journal which was historically interesting yet "cast too little light on the personality of the author." And Carolina Maria de Jesus did incredible things for the poor people of Brazil, but she also had all three of her children by different fathers and didn't marry any of them; is that the type of woman you want your daughter to emulate in terms of morals? I was also disgusted by the diary of Evelyn Scott, who ran away to Rio de Janiero at the age of twenty with a married man, pregnant with their illegitimate child. I'm not surprised that a number of these journals are now out of print, because they're so dated and no longer relevant! An awful lot of their comments seem like putting words in peoples' mouths; how would they know that some journaller they tossed aside wasn't status quo or religious because it was her integral nature the same way as it was another woman's integral nature to shun marriage and mainstream sexual behaviour?
It has never occured to me that I keep journals because I feel I have no other outlet of expression and like my views would be stifled otherwise, or to find "my true nature." I also don't think that any normal journallers think about why they're journalling, or if their journals are expressions of love, work, or power, as though life can be compartmentalised into such tidy and specific little categories. Most journallers just want to keep a record of their lives. "Although earlier taboos are disappearing about what is acceptable for a woman to feel, and although personal matters that were never confided even to a close friend are now casual dinner-table conversation, many women still keep diaries." There's a shocker. "As we continue to speak more openly to each other and to men, breaking the long silence about what a woman's inner life is like, dropping false personas, the need for diaries as an emotional outlet may disappear." That must be why so many people still keep journals as an emotional outlet. I think most women across the ages have kept journals just because they wanted to, not to express anger at the system or to have an outlet for illicit and taboo beliefs! "To read this book of selections from women's diaries is, for a woman reader, to experience an excitement, a warm recognition, and a dizzyingly expanded sense of possibilities...." Maybe that was true for a woman who picked the book up when it first came out, but I was born in 1979 and have always known the possibilities open to me. Times have changed a lot. So many of these excerpts (some of which would have seemed more coherent and interesting if the editors hadn't skipped around so much between the entries; why were all of the entries in between the included ones not included as well?) were so obviously included out of feminist or political motivations, and didn't make me eager to read the full-length books. This was a really laudable effort, but ultimately is like so many other books which came out in this era--laughably dated today.

If you get you're hands on this one, as I did as a 13 year old at a thrift store for 10 cents, you'll never let go. Now 20 years later, the entries by these women mean many different things to me. I didn't understand Anais Nin, I do now. I understood Anne Frank, or I thought I did. Then there were all these other wonderfully written pieces by who, I didn't know....Sand, Dostoevsky, Carr, Wordsworth, Sand. I still draw off these women and their love, work, and power as the book is broken into those three parts. I still believe in the next twenty years I'll find something new, and the twenty years after that. I believe my 10 cents went a long way, and whatever monetary value it is worth to you, this is their words for us to keep forever.

In all my life, I have never encountered a book like this. Avatar Adi Da Samraj's esoteric writings about the Guru-devotee relationship will touch and move you at heart. They will make you aware of the possibility that you can actually awaken to and be the very Divine Self of Infinite, Immortal Light. And that awakening, as the book explains, is not achieved by effort, but is Grace-Given, in the context of the love relationship with the Divine Guru. Just imagine the God-intoxicated devotees of Jesus, the Buddha, and Krishna, and the intimate, loving relationship they shared with one other. Just so, you can have this same relationship with the Divine Heart-Master, Bhagavan Adi Da Samraj, who has descended from the God-Realm out of overwhelming love and the desire to liberate everyone from suffering and awaken all to Himself. I urge you to read this book.

Often we encounter new insights that some if not most people will resist immediately. This may happen with this book because of the relationships being made between what is often refered to as objective biological science and subjective religion. However, insight, especially divine insight, is often a result of finding a relationship between two concepts that seem completely unrelated, and yet in this books case, you will find are vastly related and perhaps a holy grail. Like it or not, open your mind and heart and when Brian's inspired understanding settles in your heart, it's truth will set you free.

The Seed is definitely a book that will make you ponder deeply about the interpretation of the Christian Bible (the Qa'ran, the Torah and every religious bible considered holy today). Salvation and what you consider to be "the truth" will be challenged immensely.
For those who tend to question everything spiritual in life (and the afterlife), The Seed offers a fresh perspective regarding salvation and one's destiny. You'll either agree with the message of The Seed or you won't, but you're not likely to put it down before you've finished it.
And trust me, after reading it you'll want to share a few words with Brian Fox, the author! He's either blessed by God with spiritual insight or he's crazy as a fox! I'm not sure but I am going to read it again with a Bible next to me so that I can verify everything he cites. After all, how else can I judge his reasoning! Wait, judging is bad, right!? Either way, good book! Would recommend.

This book is both brilliant and challenging. Author uses common language to explain complex and profound biblical concepts. I never read a book that combines biblical truth with human reproduction. He writes it in a way that common man can understand it. The book draws you in and keeps you intellectually stimulated.

I had to read this book for school, and I wasn't happy about it at all. Once I started reading it though,
the book was hard to put down! It is very enjoyable, and I recommend it to anyone.

I went to the Christian book store to get a wedding gift, then I walked the aisles looking at books...I picked up this book and felt the Lord speaking to me, "This book will encourage you." I looked at it briefly and saw that she (the author) had a "glory cloud experience" and I could relate to it! I looked at the price and thought, "What is my husband going to think if I come home with it and say that the Lord told me to buy it?" It sounded lame, although I was so excited, so I looked at another book she wrote that was two dollars cheaper, but the Lord said, "Not this one, the other one." Needless to say, I bought it and my husband was not mad at all. (I did not realize that Amazon books had these spiritual books too!) Let me tell you, this book is so very awesome. She relays her experiences of the Lord visiting her personally and teaching her personally at various times. I believe that this book was meant for me. She wrote how when she had the glory cloud experience that the cloud got darker and heavier...I always wondered why the cloud I saw around me was grey. This is a book that clearly shows that if you turn to the Lord and seek Him, HE will instruct and guide you and come to you. I loaned this book out and now it has been reloaned to the same person. This book I plan to pass further around...it is a book that will excite and change you, I believe. I think it would be an "understatement" to say I highly recommend it. Have a blessed day in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord Jesus bless everything you touch.

This is a fascinating book about Fuchsia Pickett's encounters with God. Most Christians believe that there is a deeper walk than they are experiencing. She not only says it is true, but says how she got there. It will leave you hungering to know more about God.

this is a splendid and sane little treatment of the main themes and content in the book of revelation. Really helps one to get the main concepts of revelation on many fronts. Scripturally honoring and well thought out. Some other good ones are: Revelation and The End of All Things by Craig Koester and: Breaking The Code by Bruce Metzger.
It's great!

I bought two books from Amazon.com...they both came on time and I'm very happy the way Amazon handled with the packaging. Overall, I'm very satisfied...however, I wish I don't have to pay that much on shipping and handling, since I live in Canada and there're times the shipping and handling fees are more expensive than the actual cost of the books!!

This short work introduces the reader to another approach to the book of Revelation. It is refreshing because it is based upon a symbolic interpretation. Symbols from the Old Testatment appear in Revelation. Spilsbury uses them to present an interpretaion which views Revelation as not a book of detailed prophecy but one in which the symbols stand for the Church age and the struggle all Christians face. This short work does not fully cover all the questions it raises but opens up a new way of thinking. It is a fast read that left me wanting more.

This is a good, fairly short summary of scholarly analysis of the book of Revelation, solidly grounded in what it meant to those who originally wrote and recopied it.

The book starts out grounded in reality, and then slowly becomes less grounded until it starts to fly. An enjoyable story and a fascinating belief structure fill the pages. Try it.

Over the years I stumbled across the fact that Alvin Schwartz wrote Superman during the strip's best time. But upon reading An Unlikely Prophet I was mystified by his translation of the Superman myth to a (almost?) real life situation. Schwartz is a master at dangling the real and the imaginary before us. Did all this really happen or is it a fiendishly clever work of fiction? Where did the lines cross? If, indeed, they crossed at all. Unlikely Prophet is the quintessential 'can't-put-down' book. It is a highly entertaining and, if you choose to believe the Tibetan mysticism, a very educational read. It will improve your geography, sociology, psychology and vocabulary. And it should raise Alvin Schwartz higher in the ranks of superior writers.
