Jean Leinhauser "Learn to Crochet in One Day"Review Date: 2008-03-11
stitches in one day and began the "Ripple Afghan" pictured on the cover
shortly thereafter. I had never crocheted before and since then (about
6 years ago) I have made several afghans, several baby layettes, and
stoles for my daughter and all of her bridesmaids. This was probably the
most useful book I've ever purchased. One day I saw "Learn to Knit in One
Day" and although I did not intend to begin knitting immediately, I bought
the book, because I know how helpful it will be when I decide to try
something different.
Excellent instructions for beginner!Review Date: 2006-01-18
Wow, what an amazing booklet! It was like a light bulb going off, finally understanding the basic stitches, how to count properly, where EXACTLY the hook should go through, and WHY the stitches require an extra chain (or 2 or 3) at the end of a row. It suddenly all made sense! I passed it on to a friend, and she had the same reaction. Now we can actually crochet something, instead of just focusing on trying to learn a few stitches.
I highly recommend this booklet to those who have never done crochet work or those who are beginning and need some clear, precise instructions.

Get OrganizedReview Date: 2008-06-10
There is one reading from the Old Testament, one from the Psalms, one from Proverbs and one from the New Testament for each day of the year. All four sections are arranged by day, so if you like to read from multiple places in the Bible every day, this will cut down on flipping from one area of the Bible to another. In addition to the pleasant font, you have comments from John MacArthur, one of the great preachers of today, who helps to explain difficult passages from the bible.
If you would like to read through the Bible in a year, this is a great book for you.

I would invest time and money into both the yearly Bible, which is intelligently organized and also the MacArthur study Bible.

Is there a Cliff's Notes version?Review Date: 2007-07-09
That being said, the tactics that are laid out seem reasonable and workable, but are repeated ad nauseum. An additional annoying feature of the writing is the tendency to spend several pages giving the reader a drawn out anticipatory build up to the few tactics the author will convey on the upcoming pages. The point-diluted anecdotes about poorly orchestrated buyer negotiations are followed up by several paragraphs that give the reader a pep talk without really conveying any information, making the book feel like an infomercial as one reads through it.
...This buyer acted poorly and spent way more money than he needed to. Don't want to be like him? Well you should read this book! Here's another story about a buyer that did something stupid. Don't want to be like her, either? Well, keep reading! Eventually, I'll get to the 5 sentences you need to read in order to know what to do instead...
Perhaps others would disagree, but as a reader with an engineering background, unless I'm reading a book for pleasure, I skim for the pertinent information. Separating the wheat from the chaff, this book should be about a third of the thickness that it is. However, if you have the time the time to shop around for a house (and by time, I mean *at least* a month or two to actually go out and look at houses) *and* to read through and separate the useless parts of this book from the parts that actually contain good advice and tactics, I would recommend it.

Reading it again.Review Date: 2003-12-25
The book is geared toward using a realtor or buying agent, but I found everything was just as applicable if used "going it alone." Especially some of the resources listed in the back for comps, etc. It's a very easy book to read and it doesn't try to make you a slick rapid-fire negotiator. It teaches you very simple yet effective techniques that may be common sense to some other readers, but they weren't to me. Admittedly, Cummins is repetitive in his messages, but I think the repetition serves to firmly ingrain the techniques in your mind so when you do actually get in front of the seller/realtor, you don't let your emotions get the best of you.
As a result of what I learned from this book (and also by not using a realtor), I saved $25K on a $185K house. I also used the techniques in negotiations during a car purchase and during salary negotiations for a new job. Best 17 bucks I ever spent.
Now I'm starting to look for my second house, so I'm re-reading the book (and going without a realtor again). I'm holding onto the first house as a rental, but I hope that if I ever have to sell, it's not to a buyer who's read this book!

Enough AlreadyReview Date: 2008-04-18
Girl meets guy, falls for him hard, realizes he is not the one. Girl meets another guy and he is the one...maybe. Desiree Edwards, a woman who can help you make the right choices when it comes to your money, but who is there to help her make the right choices when it comes to love? Will it be her best friend, Brielle, or one of the men in her life; Jamal, her husband; Troy, her ex-boyfriend or Derrik, a mutual friend of hers and Troy?
Desiree's job requires her to do a lot of traveling, and though in the beginning Jamal was understanding and okay with it, the time has come where he really wants to begin a family. When his needs are neglected, Jamal finds a new body to warm his bed. Once he realizes he may have gotten more than what he bargained for, Jamal makes choices he cannot change and would come to regret.
Derrik a true friend, has been holding in his feelings concerning Desiree, because of her relationship with Troy. When they are stuck in an airport together, he sees his chance and takes it as soon as it is offered to him. As the saying goes, what is done in the dark, will always come to light, and when it does sparks will fly, but who will ultimately get burned?
What do you get when you put hot sex and two love triangles together? One Ain't Enough by Mo Flames. I truly enjoyed reading this debut novel. I was a bit perturbed when I completed the book, because it left me hanging and wanting more. Then again I anticipate her next book that I hope will not only tie up some loose ends, but stand up to the quality work Mo Flames put forth in One Ain't Enough. One Ain't Enough is not for the meek or the mild; I do recommend it to readers who can hang with the likes of Eric Jerome Dickey and Zane. This would be a good read to a person with an open-mind, who likes fast-moving drama, and who is not afraid to read erotica in its rarest form.

An Epiphany of self-realization...Review Date: 2002-12-01
In the ground-breaking tradition of The Celestine Prophecy and Conversations with God, The Serpent's Dance (Book One) by Shri Yannam is an extraordinary memoir cum novel cum self-transformation guide. Inspired by the ancient wisdom of the author's Eastern background, Yannam uncovers twenty-one secrets of self-mastery through a surreal but powerful conversation with his soul guide, who appears to him in the form of a cobra in the wreckage of a tornado's aftermath.
So relevant to our present times...Review Date: 2002-12-01
When I got Shri Yannam's book, The Serpent's Dance, at first I merely flipped through the pages, peeking into the contents here and there to see if it'd interest me. As I did, I paused to glance at some of the so-called Serpent's secrets (in bold italicized text). But my inquisitive mind longed to dig into the details leading to the secrets. And before I knew it, I found myself reading the entire book in just one sitting...from start to finish! As I read, I realized that the book was about the author's own life transforming experiences. So it became that much more interesting.
As it so often happens to our rational minds, when it is blocked suddenly by an insurmountable obstacle, an intense process of self-inquiry begins. This leads one to discover the essential nature of self and its binding to universal spirit. The intellect dives into the subconscious, empties itself of all rational thought, and rises again to reach spirit in order to understand the essence nature of reality. This is precisely what has happened to Shri Yannam.
Traditionally, in ancient Indian scriptures, a central principle is stated before an exhaustive explanation is put forth, further helped along by parables to drive the point home. Though Shri Yannam seeks to do the same thing, there is a difference in his approach. Shri dives into the conflict first (taking the reader with him)...before both resurface again with enough wisdom to understand and dissolve the conflict in question. This is precisely what makes his writing so interesting and so relevant to our present times. Rather than use traditional parables, Shri employs the struggles and conflicts imbued in our contemporary lives. Thus profound wisdom, inherent in spirit itself, is brought forth in a manner that makes it easy to assimilate.
So deep and profound....Review Date: 2002-12-01
I am reading Shri Yannam's book, The Serpent's Dance very slowly and very carefully. There's so much to digest here...because it's so deep and so profound. I love it! I like to close the book from time to time, and reflect on the author's experience after each of the serpent's secrets. The secrets resonate with me, and take me to a deeper/higher level of awareness/understanding. Then I experience a release and find myself becoming lighter in countless uplifting ways.
A must for every receptive mindReview Date: 2002-12-01
The Serpent's Dance is definitely not another 'run of the mill' book on Self Help. Shri does an excellent job of relating oft repeated ancient truths (the Gita, etc. in my case) as solutions to modern day stresses. He follows a unique approach in examining our deepest emotions, prejudices, likes, dislikes. His approach is secular in nature and free from all dogma (something that is hard to come by these days). The book does not come up with a list of do's and dont's or a magic wand that will brush away all our imbalances. What it does offer are ways at better understanding and de-mystifying our own inner selves. The style followed is one of a conversation between Shri and Siddhah - an imaginary Serpent in the form of a tornado. This could easily represent the reader and the tornado within each one of us.
Shri's formulas will go a long way in helping us better understand ourselves which will result in a better understanding of the universe external to us. This book is a must for every receptive mind.
An opportunity and an invitation to heal along with him...Review Date: 2002-12-01
The Serpent's Dance is a comprehensive dialogue between Shri, the author, and a serpent, the author's chosen spirit form representing our super-consciousness or God-consciousness. This insightful conversation explores the depths of Shri's spiritual transformation through the perspective of his personal relationships.
I came to this book during a time of deep emotional healing. Life is an anthology of relationships, and when you heal one aspect, you automatically open the doors to healing them all. As Shri shares his journey of transcendence, it's an opportunity and an invitation to heal along with him.
The greatest teachers impart wisdom by example. The Serpent's Dance offers any reader an example of how to exist within the dichotomy of life, naturally balanced. It's intimate, comical, and its' vast, colorful concepts of self-mastery are presented in simple terms, with situational references.
This book reflects the innate wisdom within each of us and reminds us that our transformation, or "shedding of old skin," is always unfolding.

The Tragic History Review Date: 2005-04-27
There is this one book I read a couple of weeks ago. It was one of my favorite books I have read. Its sad, happy in some parts, has love in the book in a way. Nice and interesting. I think you should read it but first let me tell you about this book. I'm sure you will like it.
This book is by Lurlene McDaniel. She is a good author I think. I have read one of her books before. The book is called one Last Wish Someone Dies, Someone Lives. This is about a young man that writes Katie O' Roark A letter while she is in the hospital. In that letter there was a certified check for one hundred thousand dollars. On that letter it was stamped OLW meaning One Last Wish Foundation. Also it said your friend JWC. She didn't know what to think a guy that gave her money and she had no clue why. She was puzzled for days.
Then in this book a guy name Josh watched his brother on the football field go down cold. Scared to death Josh runs to him takes him to the hospital. No longer they were there. Josh and his grandfather heard the bad news of their brother/grandchild. The doctors came out and asked if they would like to donate his organs. That was the hardest mistake they have ever made in their lives. They said there last good byes, and there was no more of him. But Josh went to meet the girl that his brothers heart was going to Katie O' Roark. Did they become friends? Was he mad? Who had wrote the letter? To find more information on this book. You can check it out at Lincoln County Library.
This book was sad, but happy too, it was a great book and I think you and your friends would enjoy this book. Not just these book but also all of Lurlene McDaniel books. She is a great author.
