Really cute story about what all moms do to take care of their children - from monkeys to elephants. My one year old son loves opening the flaps to find out "where mama is". I can see this being entertaining for years. They did a great job of hiding mama in the backgrounds before you open the flaps - very cute - fun for the adults as well to search for mama.

This book has beautiful illustrations and a lovely sentiment. Our daughter who is two loves it. I particularly love the last page with the panda surrounding her pup. A good note to go to bed on.

In this absolutely beautiful lift-the-flap book, children and parents will be delighted to read about how mothers protect their children.

From a mama kangaroo carrying her joey in her pocket to keep him close during a storm, to a mother cat cleaning her kitten's fur, a wide variety of animal mothers and babies are covered.

Although beginning readers will be able to read this short board book on their own, MAMA, WHERE ARE YOU? is the perfect bedtime or anytime story for parents and youngsters to share together.

I was 5 years old when my aunt read this book to me and i never forgot about it. Whenever I felt I couldn't do something, i remembered the girl in the story, Margarita, and how she had achieved in getting her star. Another thing that always encouraged me was that the book was written for me: it is dedicated to all brave girls who ventured into the world to achieve their dream. The pictures were beautiful, and I always remembered the story. however, I never saw the book again until i was 13 years old and I was very glad to find it. Now it is very old and I have to buy a new for myself, but definitively, I will pass this book and story to my younger sisters and when I have my daughters. Up to this day, although I am 20 years old, whenever I feel down I read this book and Dario's poetry makes me remember my childhood, where i have come from and what do I have to do. I am very thankful to my aunt for reading me this inspiring book, and hopefully I will read this story to a child who needs it in the future....as I hope you would too.

ps. It is soo charismatic and melancholic as the little prince by saint exupery.

excellent and very enjoyable

This story is written for both adults and children. The Spanish flows beautifully. The book could definitely be used as a tool in teaching young children Spanish. The story is enchanting and wonderfully written.

This children's story, beautifully written by Ruben Dario, one of the most accomplished Spanish-speaking writers, was one of my favorite as a child. The verses flow like music and it is a perfect tool to help your children to develop a sense for Spanish poetry, while being transported to the magic setting of the story. This edition beautifully illustrated, has become a link between my childhood and and my children's.

"Mars, Here We Come!" is a Backyardigans book board based on the "Mission to Mars" episode of the show. It's a fun outer space romp as Uniqua, Pablo and Austin blast off into outer space and make contact with friendly aliens. They encounter adventure and danger, but with the help of R.O.V.E.R. and their astronaut skills, they make their way through!

Overall, this is a pretty fun "Backyardigans" book. This book has a handle for easy lifting, an interesting feature. More fun, it comes with twenty glow-in-the-dark stickers. These stickers can be used to illustrate the book, or for whatever you and your kids like.

good story for a little backyardigans fan, or an outer-space fan!

My 20-month-old liked this book before he ever saw the Backyardigans tv show. It is a nice, fun, simple story that will remind a Backyardigans fan of the "Mission to Mars" episode. It is not exactly the same, however, and Tasha and Tyrone do not appear in this story. Still, nice bold color illustrations, and lots of room for fun improvisation with your child.

Lone Wolf Series fans will be delighted with #12 Masters of Darkness, as it supplies a much needed sense of closure to the "Magnakai" chapter in the series (noting that the series continues with at least 10 other books last I heard). I've followed the series from the start (Flight from the Dark)up to Legacy of Vashna and in my opinion, Masters of Darkness is the book I remember most vividly. Within it is the adventure in which Lone Wolf actually stops messing around and confronts all the major Darklords in a battle worthy of legend (even in terms of this series, it is a wonderful climax plot-wise). Highly recommendable, fun, and a must-have by fans for fans.

This, being book 12 of the Lone Wolf series, and the final chapter in the plights of Lone Wolf in the discipline of the Magnakai, pits Lone Wolf once again against the Archlord of Darkness, one Lord Gnaag, supreme ruler of the Masters of Darkness. Lone Wolf returns from the Dazhiarn, an alternate world, only to find his enemies, the nemesis of the Sommlending, about to storm his very homeland! He must journey to infernal city of Heldgedad, the very stronghold and capital of the evil oppressors! Here chronicles one of the very best adventures Lone Wolf embarks upon, and you can bet it is one of the very best of the series, which curtails approximately 32 books long-and well worth reading every one!

It is hard to single out a Lone Wolf book in quality-they all share but one thing: their amazing breathtaking superbness. But one in particular does indeed rank superior to some of its predecessors and followers: The Masters of Darkness. The thrilling conclusion to the Magnakai and Kai adventures, The Masters of Darkness transports the reader from ship to beast to places that lurk in the nightmares of Lone Wolf. The reader must fight the terrors of the Kaltersee, the new city of Argazad, and finally, smuggle himself to the Black City and make a stand for the future of the entire world of Magnamund. Along the way the reader encounters, in incredible prose, the darkest and most infamous creatures in the Lone Wolf series: the Masters of Darkness. If you have read Lone Wolf books but not the Masters of Darkness, you haven't read Lone Wolf

This is my favorite gift to bring to baby showers -- it's a huge hit with both proud Texan parents and babies! The textures (the denim of the cowboy's jeans, the sandpaper cow's tounge) and vibrant colors really captivate the little ones. My best friend's daughter loved it so much that they're already on their second copy. I highly recommend the Little Tex's ABC book to accompany this one -- you won't be disappointed.

I bought this book before my child was born. It's one of my favorites and one of his. We also have "Little Tex's ABCs." Both are great books. He is a sixth generation native Texan, so we want to make him proud of his heritage. What better way to get started? I am hoping that this is only the beginning of the "Little Tex" series. How about a "Little Tex" counting book next?

especially if Mr. Slow is Mr. Busy's neighbor!!!

Poor Mr. Slow just wants to take things... well, slow. But alas a rather busy and obtrusive Mr. Busy is determined to speed up his slow ways. After getting cleaned up, eating breakfast, and cutting the grass (all by 7am!) he decides to go on a picnic. So he goes into Mr. Slow's house, up to his room and wakes him up to go on his picnic. They end up eating in Mr. Slow's front lawn as well... Mr. Slow was too slow to get to the picnic grounds. Then Mr. Busy informs his slow neighbor that tomorrow they will get up a 6am!!!
At 6am Mr. Busy rushes into Mr. Slow's bedroom to find... nobody. Nobody at all. So off Mr. Busy goes leaving a happy snoring Mr. Slow asleep under the bed!!!

I am so excited to see that Mr. Men books are for sale on Amazon. I had several of the books when I was little, and I fondly remember my mom reading the silly stories to me (about 25 years ago). Mr. Forgetful was my favorite. These books are so simple and cute, and I'm thrilled that I can add them to my daughter's collection.

I have had this book since I was a child and I recently found it and read it to my 2 1/2 year old son. He loved it! It has now become his favorite book. I think I can recite the whole thing by heart. I would definately recommend this book to anyone with children or adults too. I am now going to find more Mr. Men books for our collection. They are timeless and someday my son will have them for his kids.

What a fabulous book! I just read it with my eight year old and he loved it and so did I. We just got introduced to the Mr. and Miss books by my son's teacher. We read this together and both laughed. Mr. Forgetful forgets everything. He is walking along when a police officer asks Mr. Forgetful to deliver a message to the farmer saying his cow is in the lane. Poor Mr. Forgetful tries so hard to remember. He walks to the farmer's house repeating to himself, "A cow is in the lane. A cow is in the lane." By the time poor Mr. Forgetful talks to the farmer, all he can remember is, "A goose is in the rain." It's a fun, light hearted book. Read them all. The adults like them too.

Comprehensive thinking for hard-skill management
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2003-10-26
Manufacturing is a combination of soft and hard skill. The soft-skill is about people and how to manage them. This skill is obvious in several text and business management book. The hard-skill, however, is quite rare. Fortunately, Wright combines it in nice -easy to read format.
The strong point of this book is "comprehensive". Wright composes his thought of manufacturing system today and projected to the future. All manufacturing processes are seamlessly combined from one chapter to another. The integration of CAD/CAM is also mentioned. In addition, his viewpoint of manufacturing system for biotechnology, nanotechnology and information technology are quite interesting -and practical.
If I have to use one book for manufacturing class, I would use this book for teaching. For anyone new to manufacturing process, this book is a must for your jorney to the manufacturing world.

This book is like a breath of fresh air - A totally new and innovative view of manufacturing. It was very different from the traditional boring and dry manufacturing texts I have been used to reading. The book takes a look not only at manufacturing processes but also other aspects like product development and business plans - parts I have not seen in any other textbook. To sum up, I would definitely recommend the book !

A remarkable guidline for manufacturing in the 21st century

Review Date: 2001-07-14
This book provides an excellent overview of manufacturing in the new economy. From the perspective of an entrepreneur in today's internet driven world, all aspects from product design to rapid prototyping and computer manufacturing are discussed in detail and with strong reference to the real world. In addition, conventional manufacturing processes like basic machining and metal forming, as well as fairly new industrial directions like biotechnology are outlined with an emphasis on the strong relationship between engineering and business. The book concludes with a realistic vision for the future of manufacturing, and therefore proves to be a 'must have' in the world of engineering and entrepreneurship.

Concise and Very Informative

Most books on Multimedia either deal with specific applications of multimedia or offer an analysis of just one Multimedia standard, but this book establishes the fundamentals of multimedia signal processing, introducing generic concepts and then offering a more detailed analysis of the underlying mathematical concepts.

The language is simple and the author does not try to confuse the reader with technical jargon. The material on audio and video compression and various standards is especially intensive. The example programs in the MATLAB CD are well written and give the user a clear understanding of the practical aspects of digital filtering, compression algorithms and the basics of multimedia signal processing. I would strongly recommend this book to someone who wants to know the `whys' as well as the `hows'.

It is not easy to find a textbook on multimedia for upper level undergraduate and graduate computer engineering students. This book has filled the need, and has presented an excellent and interesting introduction to multimedia in fifteen chapters. Although, it has been assumed that the readers have knowledge about discrete-time signals and systems, a chapter has been included to review basic transforms and filter theory, as well as to present advanced theories such as discrete cosine transform and wavelets. The signal processing theories have been explained and demonstrated with simple examples. A strong point of the book is the accompanying CD that contains MATLAB codes for all relevant examples. The readers can easily run these codes and verify the results of the audio/image/video experiments presented in the book. For those who are not familiar with MATLAB, the processed audio/image/videos for several examples are provided in the CD. These readers can just play the audio file or display the image to verify the subjective quality. Instructors should also find the Power Point figures and tables provided by the author useful.

In a recent book on the Beach Boys, there is a photograph of Brian Wilson with his most important musical instrument, the multi-track tape recorder. Today's bands don't need one of those. A reasonably high powered Apple and Nuendo software will do more than was possible with rooms full of equipment back in 1966 when Brian's photo was taken.

This book, one of the very few about Nuendo, is aimed at the Beginner to Intermediate level Nuendo user. It a good place to start, or to use as a reference book for the more advanced user. At about 500 pages, it is long enough to include everything you need to get full use out of the software, yet it is not so long and ponderous like many of the thousand page plus software books.
