Performance Books

The book does a good job of explaining and surveying the various types of keyboards, composers and styles during the 18th century. From the high baroque works of J.S. Bach and Scarlatti to the early works of Beethoven, this book discusses the evolution of keyboard music during the pivotal 18th Century. Excellent chapters on C.P.E. Bach, on Haydn, and the Italian style I found particularly interesting. Ironic that the leading proponent of the Italian style during the century would be the German Johann Christian Bach whose stylistic influence on Mozart appears to have been profound.

One of the better books I've read on objectively looking at the direct influences, or lack thereof, of J.S. Bach on C.P.E. Bach and C.P.E. Bach on Haydn. The author makes a strong and compelling case for evaluating each composer in their own right because of how much they diverge from each other in so many fundamental ways in how they used the keyboard instruments of their day.

For those music lovers who find the wide variety of keyboard music from the 18th Century fascinating, this book does a good job of putting it all in the context of the times and influences of the period as well as acknowledges the creative genius of so many composers who represent the period.

Book has lots of information on correct codes and photos of correct parts used on K code mustangs,of particular interest the paint marking section when detailing up your car note doesn't show all markings.Always photograph all marks etc,any doubts contact the site in book they always help.

Provides a terrific shallow overview of performance technology, with plenty of references to additional resources.

If you need a resource-this one is high on my list. Chapters include: Developmental Language Stragies for Use in the Classroom, Strategies for Morphological-Syntactic Development, Strategies for Expansion of Language Form, Style and Function.

An invaluable reference to a library acquired over a lifetime. I highly recommend 39 Microlectures to any reader searching for an intellectual snowfall.

This is a good book to open up, play without review, and practice sight reading. There is enough variety with dynamics and time signatures that you are bound to make mistakes here and there... especially a beginner. I would reccommend that you add this to the requesite Anthony Cirone and Wilcoxen books that serve as the foundation for Concert Snare Drum and Marching solos. 10 minutes a day with this book and a metronome will turn you into a drumming BEAST. Good luck! And have fun! (And pick up a guitar--don't forget there is more to music than rhythm drummer buddies ;-)

I'd heard I'm Goin' Down to the River years ago and when I spotted that song on this 2 cd set and the low price I jumped on it. Turns out there's 2 or 3 live songs apparently from his really later years. All other 42 or so songs are when he's 17 to 21 years old or so. Like his biographer says, he started out a grown man. You can't hear the youth in the voice even. I like a wide range of music from lots of punk to classic rock to TOM WAITS and DAN HICKS, the ROCHES and the BOBS. I think the finest song I've ever heard is Kissa Me Baby and up there is I'm Goin' Down to the River. Both because they have blazing horns. There's even 2 versions of the River song, slightly different from each other. 10 songs are my favorites, 5 are cool and even the ones I don't think are amazing still make a total listening experience. And I see from the many Ray cds available that this package definitely is the biggest bang for your buck. And the recordings are high quality with only 2 tiny recording errors out of these old songs. No pops, no scratches. I realized it's sort of like reggae, it takes you to a different place through a musical journey that so beautifully bluesy, "It'll give the blues to your neighbor next door". This book is a WINNER -- I recommend it to ANYONE who sets foot onstage, or who has ever simply thought "How is British theater/TV so different from American?". While Mr Barkworth's writing style can sometimes be a little precious, the technical ideas he offers are invaluable. His thoroughly British, technical approach to stagecraft offers many wonderful practical tips and tools to help bring a performance to life. Mr Barkworth's years as a teacher at RADA are evident in his ability to concisely hit on some of the most commonly encountered stage situations, and he suggests wonderfully practical ways of preparing yourself, improving your performance, and coping with the inevitable problems faced onstage.

To help demonstrate some of his points, Mr Barkworth also offers both amusing and helpful anecdotes from his own experience, as well as some of his stage colleagues, including stalwarts such as Dames Wendy Hiller and Edith Evans.

The book is a glimpse into the world of the 20th Century London West End and a fascinating slice of history as well as a helpful technical guide. Highly recommended.

Showtime has basically been the "little brother" to HBO when it comes to original programming. But in recent seasons, they have produced some wonderful series. To name a few, "Dead Like Me", "Brotherhood", "Huff", and this gem, "Californication."

Duchovny has never been better. His dry, hip delivery is totally captivating. The sensuous woman who plays his ex[?] wife makes me want to divorce my first wife, and his daughter is absolutely delightful.

All of the "supporting" characters are amazing.....the scripts are witty, erudite and literate.... I could go on, but all I can really say is...WATCH THIS SHOW!! You will NOT be disappointed!
