L. Frank Baum's Wizard Of Oz has created 39 official sequels, over a hundred unofficial sequels, nearly 40 films, and much more: so any collector seeking a comprehensive guide to all Wizard products must have The Wizard Of Oz Catalog to keep track of all the formats and take-offs. All forty Oz books in the original series, related books, films, videos, comics, radio shows and more are cataloged in entries which cover performers, plots, and more. No price guides, but this is intended as a catalog of Oz products.
All I Ever Wanted To Know....

...about Oz in all its permutations. This compendium of Oz knowledge was not only educational in all of its entries but it was fun to read, too. Sherman imbues his catalog with critics reviews, editorial comments and asides that make the factual information come alive with the Hollywood of old and today's fascination with the movie, books, and memorabilia.
There are capsule synopses of all the original books along with movie, radio, stage, advertising, and computer game adaptations as well as actor/production credits. Pictures and illustrations give an insight into the characters and the graphics of the time.
Some of the interesting info covered in the book:
1. Baum intended to break many of the unofficial "rules" for children's fairy tales
2. David's Lynch's movie WILD AT HEART staring Nic Cage is a retelling of the Wizard of Oz story.
3. Baum's widow decided to reject Disney's offer to purchase the rights to make an animated movie and instead sold the rights to an animator who failed to bring the story to the screen.
I bought this as a gift for a friend and wound up keeping it for myself.

Wonder Shows provides a fascinating look at the boundary between science and showmanship. Nadis tells the reader of the strange connections between science, magic, and mysticism--some of which persist to this day. He also provides a spellbinding account of the competition between Edison and other innovators in the early days of the electric utility industry. An important book, and an entertaining one as well, Wonder Shows is a must read.

Wonder Shows was entertaining since it depicts an era where science was relatively unknown to the general public, so magic, science and the 'con' were all related. It's interesting to look at it from a present point of view where we can look at many of those ideas and say 'how quaint' or 'how did people fall for this stuff?', but a hundred years from now, what will people be saying about what we generally believe to be true? A well-written and researched book, entertaingly written by Mr. Nadis.

This excelent book is a true must for anthroplogists facing problems with just writing texts. The pioneer Kersenboom shows with this book and the CDi a new aproach in the so often static science of anthropolgy. Interactive representations are something anthropologists could learn a lot from.

A theoretical and practical tour de force...

Dr Kersenboom, as dancer, theorist, and master storyteller, provides a radical new schema (at least for the West) for cultural representation. Her ideas are based primarily on the threefold Tamil model (word, sound, image) and the handful of Western theorists (Jakobson, Goranzon, Bourdieu) whose theories are flexible and open-ended enough to harmonize. What we get is a well-written and inspiring work that redefines textual reality and leaves the broken shards of western philology, hermeneutics, and empiricism in its wake. Well, perhaps that's a bit too categorical, but the book does make a strong case for anthropologists to invert the practice of their research. If all Western field resesarchers could, approximating Dr. Kersenboom, start "tabula rasa" - doing their fieldwork first, and THEN coming back to the West and finding the texts (from the arts, classics, rhetoric, and in general a broad range of fields) that support their knowledge, rather than learning the standard ethnographic format and then plugging their field experience into this template - we might have a lot more interesting and emancipatory anthropology going on. Through an arrangement with Philips electronics, Kersenboom has also provided an accompanying interactive CD that, though dated, shows some of the promise of multimedia applications to ethnography - as it provides the proof for this new paradigm in its skillful 'prayogam', or application, of the emic categories.

I found this book to be a great resource for Administrators who need to write Teacher Evaluations. This resource would also be extremely helpful for Graduate Students who are taking Administration courses. The comments are appropriate. The "pats on the back" are explicit with details. This book is most helpful when comments for improvement need to be written. The negative scenerios come with a bank of suggestions for improvement. The CD made my life easier. I am sure that you will keep this book within arm's reach as I have done.

Riley's and Rimmer's guide is a must-have for serious comsumers of pornography, covering, as it does, the years when (arguably) porn first skirted the crusted fringe of mainstream pop-culture. True, pornography perhaps first demanded critical scrunity when VHS brought it out of the ... booth in the 80s; but such a demand was, at best, muted. But when "Ass Rage 3" and "Natural Bone Drillers" (both given 5 stars in this guide) hit the shelves we witnessed an artistic reclamation which enabled the soi-disant culturally savvy elite to buff the chubster and bandy about terms like "Gen-X kitsch" and "post-PC irony." This tremendous guide is alive to that seminal shift, and indeed provides video-still evidence of several graphic examples of it. Hats off to the authors for such a perceptive treatment.

If you're a busy person who likes leadership tips that are short and to the point, then this booklet is for you.
It's like a book of daily meditations. Each of the numbered aphorisms take 10 seconds to read, and gives material to apply throughout the day. Read one a day - no more - so that you give the idea a real chance to work into your life. After three months, start over.
The items are ordered topically, e.g. "Minimize Obstacles", "Provide Feedback", so you can reference particular issues.
Other books provide wordier advice and more detailed explanations, but if you're in a hurry, get this one!

So often I review training seminar books and tapes--and I am here to tell you--Dave Anderson cuts through the clutter!
From selling basics all the way through making the sale, Anderson brings you up to speed without all the hype.
One thing that I found with a great many audio books is they often pump up the volume and get you motivated. But they don't actually give you the skills to go out and make more sales.
Anderson covers the major selling skills needed at any level. You'll definately end up wanting more from him and his website learntolead.com.
THANKS DAVE!
