It's very motivational and also provided several strategies to help our call center perform better. We have retention and hiring issues. We also have difficulty with consistency in our center. This book gave our supervisors great ideas! The consistent theme we all agreed after listening to this book was "People Matter"!

Great training for our managers and trainers!

Our company always looks for ongoing training materials for our call center management team. This audio book is exactly what we were looking for. It is divided into chapters, and we conducted a team meeting about each chapter after listening. I highly recommend this audio book for anybody who supervises a call center. It is PACKED with creative ideas - we're going to listen to Inspiring Call Center Performance, and use the information to motivate our agents.

I did not believe it, now I do!

I have to admit I was a serious skeptic when I ordered this tape. I was a 1 handicap and my driver was holding me back from taking that next step up. I started with the driver tape and listened to it...Nothing. I then had occasion to visit my inlaws and one evening with nothing to do I layed in bed, and turned the lights down and listened to the tape. No kidding, I got a funny surreal feeling while listening to this tape. This was two years ago. I am now a +1 and the driver is my favorite and most trustworthy club. After seeing these results I bought the putting tape and I do believe it has made me a more confident and better putter. This tape is not magic. I put hard work into my game and much of the results can be attributed to that, however, I believe that if you listen to these tapes properly they do help. Properly is the key. I have found that I can listen to them over and over and most of the time it goes in one ear and out the other, however with the right setting (quiet and relaxed with no distractions) I find myself in a half sleep listening to the tape and when is is finished I can definatly tell this listening has affected me. Hope this helps.

This is a tremendous aid for your game.

The 27 minute tape produces a calm and confident state of mind. When you play you only need to use the 'trigger gesture' and it will produce confidence in putting.

After listening this tape I broke 80 for the first time. I don't hesitate to recommend this secret weapon to every golfer.

Excellent Reference for Headloss in Fluid Flow

I used to design open channel (and pipework based) hydraulic systems for a living in the UK. This is by far the most comprehensible (and comprehensive) collection of loss data for different types of fittings I ever saw. I used them regularly. The author is/was affiliated with the British Hydraulics Research Center at Wallingford (UK) - home of the famous Wallingford charts. They are an excellent buy if you can find them.

Outstanding desk reference for any practicing engineer.

This book is by far the most comprehensive text describing hydraulic losses in flow sytems that I have come across. It includes many different configurations, such as bends, diffusers, dividing flow, and combining flow. All information is presented in an easy to follow graphical format. Consideration for different flow conditions is made, such as if fully developed flow does not occur on the upstream or downstream ends of the elements being considered. I definitely recommend this text to anyone needing to calculate hydraulic losses.

First-rate guide to Classical performance style
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-06-09
Written for the performing pianist, Paul and Eva Badura-Skoda's guide to Mozart's musical style and how pianists can recreate it on today's very different keyboard instruments remains a model of its kind, a half-century after its original German-language publication. Translated into very readable English by Leo Black, the book is divided by topic area, with chapters dealing first with broad questions of sound, tempo and articulation succeeded by more specific discussions of ornamentation, editions, and technique. The authors do a tremendous service to the modern musician by distilling the essence of many contemporary treatises on performance practice, and prove surprisingly non-dogmatic--at a few points they even suggest altering Mozart's original notes to better suggest his original sound concepts. Among other valuable features are facsimile and print reproductions of unpublished original cadenzas to various piano concertos by Mozart, suggested cadenzas by the authors, and detailed interpretive discussions on three of the major piano concertos, K. 466 in D minor, K. 488 in A major, and K. 491 in C minor. The influence of the Badura-Skodas' pioneering work is apparent in the increasing popularity and proliferation of Mozart recordings on historical instruments, but their book is addressed to all pianists and musicians who care about Mozart. It is a positive scandal that this wonderful volume is not currently available in print.

Primary source - authentic, reliable testimony

Not one, but two prominent musicians of the Baroque era discussing the finer points of vocal performance practice of that period, plus valuable clarifications and cross-references provided by a modern scholar (Baird). So many aspects of Baroque vocal performance practice were never written down by the composers - it was expected that the performers would improvise ornamentation in the style of the day. Consequently, rare sources like this one provide the modern scholar with some of the only available primary source material on the subject. Well-organized and surprisingly easy to read.

Far more than a translation

Julianne Baird's "Introduction to the Art of Singing" (1995) is far more than it appears. It is, of course, an English translation of Agricola's German text (1757), which in turn was a translation of the original Italian text by Tosi (1723) -- a monumental and often amusing work in itself. Agricola made his own observations regarding Tosi's work, and Julianne Baird has truly created an entirely new book by virtue of the observations she makes in her footnotes, which are very extensive. Baird is not only a scholar, but also an accomplished performer and so takes a very thorough approach to this treatise. She and Cambridge University Press are careful to delineate what parts of the text are Tosi, Agricola and Baird. It is an invaluable reference work for the serious student of historical vocal practice.

Wonderful Narration of great stories... Dewhurst fans will love Babette's Feast

Though I have not yet heard Isak Dinesen's own voice reading Lucifer's Tale, nor Out of Africa read by Julie Harris, I do own Ms. Colleen Dewhurst reading Babette's Feast. If you're a fan of the late Ms. Dewhurst like I am, you will thouroughly enjoy hearing her read this old-world story of a great chef of Paris who finds herself in a little out-of-the way town in Norway, and who is re-discovered for her great cullinary talents quite by accident. A delightful tale of redemption and affirmation from a time when life's pleasures seemed to have more meaning and were appreciated more than in today's world of instant gratification.

Ms. Dewhurst's unique, deep, "whiskey-and-cigarettes" voiced narration is a pleasure to listen to - a perfect accompanyment to Dinesen's "Feast." I've listened to this book on tape dozens of times and never grow tired of it. If you're like me, it is a recording you will count as one of your most treasured posessions and will replay again and again over many years.

This is a must for Dinesen fans as well as those who find Collen Dewhurst and Julie Harris ladies who can read with a soothing cadence and sound...hearing the author is a plus since I could have only imagined her sound...Meryl Streep captured her rhythm in Out of Africa very well
This woman was so ahead of her time and led a tremendous life and yet didn't get it all...she is a real story teller... of old times before TV and computers...entertainment full of creativity and imagination...you won't be disappointed!

Review Date: 2000-10-01
This book keeps up with the promise in the title. It is a easily readable guide to design and perfomance of jet engine with a rigorous treatise of each field, even if the level remains simple.

In fact the mathematical exposition is quite accessible, without a full analytical presentation. Nevertheless the formulae are clearly given with an effective theorical background when needed. Since the volume target is to clarify ideas and principles, each topic is attractively examined, emphasizing the qualitative treatment over the quantitative analysis to improve understanding of physical phenomena. This facet is quite useful because it allows an overall comprehension in mastering design process of jet engine. Besides, the emphasis on having a clear picture of principles provides the basis for a fair evaluation of engine perfomances under real conditions.

As a guide or a reference, this work has neatly achived its goal.

This is an outstanding book by a knowledgeable author that provides the basic know-how and skills that an aeronautical or mechanical engineer with an interest in jet propulsion will find useful and helpful. The book is well written in a readable and easy to follow format that provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of jet propulsion. The author clearly presents the concepts, principles and design issues of modern gas turbine engines.

The reader will learn the various components of a jet engine including the intake design, compressors, turbines, combustion chamber designs, and the jet pipe and how thrust is produced as well as the physics and thermodynamics that go with these.

The book has great explanations, diagrams and figures that the reader will find useful and helpful. I recommend the book to engineers wishing to learn more about the jet engine.

Got the book---I LOVE IT! .....Better yet, I am using it!

I have referred the book to several other associates at Bank of America. I find great value in the concepts of Planners and
Sidekicks. I am leading a project in the deployment of a number of substantial changes to the Bank's Desk top Sales Tool platform. In discussion with the Design and Development Team, I have introduced the idea of developing planner and sidekick performance support tools as part of the Learning Solution.

Allison, you continue to engage and improve my results.

Thanks!

Purchased and read your new book. Great examples! My favorite new learning was about the sweat-band job aids used by football teams. I'm trying to figure out how to use those as a training aid for new non-English speaking house cleaners . . . Will really help me sell my ideas to Sr. Management

Next I'll order a copy of your prior Job Aids book just to have it in my library. Thanks for gathering the examples and sharing.
