A friend of mine gave me this book in 2003 after the birth of my first child. I write special moments in there (like the first time he said delicious or the first time he talked on the phone) as well having loved ones write in it for special occasions like birthdays, baptisms, family beach trips, etc. I'm using it now for my daughter as well and for their sweet and not-so-sweet sibling moments. A treasure both for mother and child.

What a lovey way to record births in your family or wonderful gift to someone who is expecting! 'Baby Blessing' is a very special 'baby book' in which to record births and keep photograhs because it has been illustrated by Ms. Branch. Susan Branch's books are always so special as they not only contain her lovely watercolors drawings but also inspirational stories and quotations. This book will surely be a treasured heirloom to be enjoyed by future generations.

I just received my copy of "The Baby Naming Journal" today. We are preparing to start a family, and I wanted to get ahead of the game, if at all possible. What a unique book this is!! I was thrilled at all the options suggested for choosing baby's name. I think the best part is that it's not just a list of names. It's an interactive project for the expectant Mom and Dad. The Family Tree section is wonderful! Not only do I intend to complete this keepsake for our first child, but I will be sure to purchase a copy for all our children!

The Best Name Book Ever

I was so excited to discover this book. Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz are -- hands down -- the very best baby namers in the business and I have always found their advice to be extremely useful. Their previous books (including Beyond Jennifer and Jason & The Last Word on First Names) were far and away my favorite books when I was naming my first 3 children. Pamela and Linda are always funny and hip and all of their books make fine pregnancy reading. This newest book, though, is a real treasure. Not only is it a beautiful keepsake gift for us to be able to pass down to our next baby, but it created some special time for my husband and I to reflect on our family histories and what's really important to us and our future. It is a great book and one I will be giving to all the pregnant women I know and love.

Ah, I love this book - one of those simple, yet so great ideas! My 8-year old daughter and I share this journal, and we both are so excited when the journal appears on our bedside table - that means the other has written something just for us! This journal has helped my 8-year old express her feelings comfortably to me, not to mention documenting a journey for the both of us. A great gift idea for virtually any relationship!

What a wonderful way to stay creatively inspired

If you loved the bood "Becoming a Chef" (and how could you not!), you will love having this journal on hand to record your growth as a culinary artist. Yes, it is primarily a blank book on which to record your thoughts, but it prompts you with pages to write about your food memories, major moments in your professional and creative development, restaurant reviews and experiences, etc. It also has unlined pages for sketching ideas and plating concepts, and the book is filled with honest and inspiring quotes and stories from some of the best known food pros of our time.

I have made it a point to give both books to newly promoted lead cooks and sous chefs, but if I had the money I would give them to all of my cooks. Writing about our dreams and taking a few moments every now and again to let our creativity flow onto a page is a great way to rescue ourselves from burnout. It also is fun to have a way to look back on our growth.

Great gift for Expectant Moms

I have bought this as a gift for 5 of my friends, and they all really love it. Most pregnancy journals are quite cheesy, and don't capture the unique and magical time of pregnancy. This book allows you to really write how you feel, rather than rely on cartoons and silly sentence starters like many other journals.

What I had searched for during my 1st trimester!
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2002-12-11
This pregnancy journal is just what I had been looking for all during my 1st trimester of pregnancy. It is simple and has a certain elegance about it. I am not attracted to all the cute cartoons and adorable illustrations on most of the baby-related things out there. That's okay for the baby, but I am an adult and felt like I wanted something that looked like it was for an adult. The binding has a off-white cloth cover over the edge, but the inside is spiral-bound, so it is easy to write in. I am a longtime journal writer, so this appealed to me and I wanted a timeless gift to give my baby one day when he/she is an adult. As the cover indicates, there are beautiful black & white photographs at the biginning of each section. The sections are divided by trimester and there are also sections titled: Considering Pregnancy and Bringing Baby Home. There are a few spots for photos, but not too many. Each trimester section has places to record your feelings, fears, questions for your monthly visits, qualities you want in your birth place and whoever delivers your baby and takes care of you in your prenatal months. (And many many more!)There is sufficient room for your thoughts and I would strongly recommend this journal if you are looking for a classic look.

The "Believe Journal" is so beautiful! The cover of the
journal show a little girl as the Statue of Liberty
with a sparkler in her hand to bring off light, the
background shows a blue sky with stars all around!
This is the only journal I have found that is so patriotic!
Also, a portion of the Becky Kelly's proceeds from the sale
of this product will be donated to charity. Hats off
to Becky Kelly for creating such a charming journal book!

I love this Journal. It is my very favorite. The pages inside seem dusted with starlight and moonbeams because of Becky Kelly's neat drawings. I love Coco bear with the wand on the front. I think it is great that part of the artist's proceeds from the sale of this journal will be donated to charity. The picture on the front reminds me of how wonderful our country is!

The author makes a large number of observations about what is happening and how it is done. This is along with the historical recording of events. These observations have stood the test of time. They explain the German's rapid success in the early years.

A New Edition of A Great Book
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-04
This is a great book and a terrific read. Originally published in 1941 by William L. Shirer, who worked in Berlin during the war with Edward R. Murrow and the radio team of Columbia Broadcasting System, it went on to sell almost 350,000 copies by August and remained at the top of the best-seller-list until after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Shirer worked in Berlin at a time when all of the world got its news through foreign correspondents writing in newspapers. Later, he made the leap to CBS and radio to work with the legendary Edward Murrow. The two captivated all of America with their radio broadcasts from Berlin and Europe as the war unfolded.

"Berlin Diary" offers unparalleled insights into Hitler's Germany by an intelligent and talented news correspondent writing as events unfolded. Shirer was quick to learn that German Army reports on the fighting in the opening years of the war were usually frank and accurate, while those of the German Navy and especially the Air Force were not. Afforded regular access to Adolph Hitler he ponders later in the book on how easy it would have been to assassinate the German leader And he provides first-hand descriptions of Nazi leaders such as Rudolph Hess, Hermann Goering, and especially Joseph Goebbels, who most of the foreign news correspondents detested.

Shirer also describes the tremendous effect the British bombing of Berlin in the early days of the war, even by small groups of Royal Air Force bombers, had on the population, depriving them of sleep and forcing the German war industry to lose valuable hours of production time. The author notes that if the British had sustained the bombing campaign and sent over even more bombers, the pressure on Hitler and the Nazis to end the war might have been tremendous.

"Berlin Diary" is also a tribute to Shirer's analytical talents and his ability to piece together what is actually happening or will happen next in the war is uncanny. He is quick, for example, to find out about the Nazi extermination of those who are mentally retarted or otherwise physically incapacitated throughout Germany, a move resisted by many Germans. Of course, it is clear that the author had a wide network of contacts, who kept him informed as to developments in the Third Reich. Indeed, Shirer shows that resistance to Hitler and the Nazis early in the war, both passive and active, was at a much higher level than was generally appreciated abroad, both during the war and even after it.

"Berlin Diary" is a tribute to an incredibly talented individual and to all civilian war correspondents, who lived dangerous lives in a dangerous regime to bring the news to the world. Shirer's reporting showed America the threat Hitler posed to free countries everywhere and no doubt played a role in President Roosevelt's decision to get involved in the war.
