A Great Story!!!Review Date: 2005-07-07
A Must Read!!!Review Date: 2005-06-23
My brother described it as the `Mother' of all conspiracy theories, but I didn't see it that way at all. It is true that the story is chuck full of murder, mayhem and treachery. It starts out with a young American agent investigating a series of deaths of top ranking United States military officers. He learns more than anyone would want to know, thereby putting everyone he knows in jeopardy.
However, I saw it as more of a historical revelation. For thirty years we've known there was more to the Vietnam war than anyone was admitting. Now I know what it was all about. That's worth far more than the price of this book.
Read on, government spooks... if you dare.Review Date: 2005-04-26

Prophetic!Review Date: 2001-12-05
Mighty thoughts that can shake your life!Review Date: 1998-07-16
His words and ideas are so powerful and deep that we soon realize that they didn't come only from a brilliant mind, but also from a warm-hearted soul!
That's exactly what this book is about: Its sentences break through your brain and penetrate right into your soul! Emerson's optimistic view on human beings and life can only reinforce our courage in mankind and, especially, in ourselves!
What else can I say? His speech is direct, he defends all the good values, tell us to have confidence in ourselves and show us that passing through life with dignity is a matter of choice and courage, and that it simply doesn't change with time. It was like this a thousand years ago, it will probably follow the same rules a thousand years f! ! rom now.
This is the book I grab to comfort my spirit when I'm having difficult times... :) It is a guide that make us believe that anything is possible when we really want it! " Self-Reliance ", one of the essays inside this book, is a masterpiece in its own and I believe it should be studied in every high school, instead some of the crap we are usually obliged to read!
This book can shape your spirit and your mind. It is also possibly THE BEST self-help book you could ever own and, yet, a great literary work.
I would rate this book as ageless and I'm sure the future generations will be still interested in it, in the same way we are in those ancient Greek and Roman texts.
This is precious culture and food for your soul as a bargain! Do not waste more time. READ IT!!!

familiar with Mr. Flattau's columns over many years, and I have
always found him to be a thorough researcher and a very objective observer and reporter. Enjoyed his first book immensely (Tracking the Charlatans) but this is superior!

Great guide for novice AND experienced hikersReview Date: 2002-05-23
Burnside groups his peaks together (geographically), so Cascade and Porter are together. Once you get used to it, it's no problem to use, and his index is well done.
At the beginning of each chapter, he provides:
*an elevation graph
*length of ascent (in feet)
*height of summit
*estimated round trip time (which includes 1 hour for lunch)
*graded difficulty of climb (from C ro A++)
*view rating (1st - 46th)
So far he's been right on. I'm trip navigator and designated wildlife watcher (read: slower than molasses in January). Then again, I get to see the foxes scurry out of my way (Cascade) and enjoy the butterflies landing on me (Porter). So if I can say his round-trip estimate is good... it is.
His graded difficulty of climb is a little more "soft". While Cascade is VERY short, as you're inserted right at the bottom of the mountain at the trailhead, it's steep and very rocky with all the exposed granite.
He grades Mt. Marcy as an "A", but you need to realize it's only for sheer length of the day you'll put in if you don't camp at the Dam (sunup - sundown, 14 hours).
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy hiking in the Adirondacks.

I LOVE everything Fairy!!!!Review Date: 2006-09-04
Why I love "The Faerie Journals" 2007 CalendarReview Date: 2006-09-03
I was ecstatic to find the 2005 & 2006 Faerie Journals Calendars which included 24 of these beautiful glass plate negatives of the faeries. After the year was done, I framed my most favorite images. I just recieved the 2007 Calendar and love it! Here the story takes a turn back to the Middle Ages where the writer of this VERY old journal is a young servant girl in a castle who paints her story as she discovers her "fairy" past. The art work is absolutely magical!
The Calendar has all the typical plus's; moon phases, international and Celtic Holidays but what I love is that the story is included in the calendar, revealed one month at a time. Completely appropriate for kids as well as adults who still love to play with faeries! Check out "The Faerie Journals" website where you can read all the past journal entries over the years. I have also found the story as an on-going feature over the last year in "Faerie Magazine." (An excellant resource for anyone who loves all things faeries.)
This is a calendar that doesn't dissappoint!
Most True to the Fairy FaithReview Date: 2006-09-06
I was given the 2005 Faerie Journals Calendar as a gift, which led me to the website where I was able to read the story on-line and really loved it. I of course bought the 2006 and now the 2007 calendar for both the beautiful illustrations as well as the story, which is included. This calendar tells the story of a girl from a long time ago who discovers that no matter how insignificant we think we are, everyone can make a difference if they can get beyond their own fear. This calendar is presented like a fairytale, although I know the message is real and very poignant for our times. I am writing this because I want to support those who show respect to others beliefs and help to share that respect with the world. The more we know about one another, the less there is to be afraid of.

Check the facts if you must, but you will find many of the events, places, and people really do (or did) exist. These facts are woven into an excellent piece of storycraft that asks the reader to consider this very plausible explanation of what may have (or did...?) happen beyond what most believe (or would have you believe) about the Viet Nam war. A great story, a great investigative piece, or both? Read it and decide!
A definite must read for anyone that enjoys a book that makes you think!!
