Book is an excellent review of the material and information necessary to perform interventions with chemically dependent patients. Material is presented in such a way that the book can be later used as a reference guide when needing additional material for group presentations.

Must have for comprehensive learning experience!

I teach addiction studies at a local university and find this book a great reference and hope to adopt it for one of my classes. It provides a great overview of the addiction treatment field without being too wordy or lost in theory. This is a well-written book which encourages the learner where many books are discouraging!

My friend gave this book to me as a Christmas holiday gift. But I made the mistake of opening the package prematurely and found myself keep on reading it until the last page less than two days. David Andrews' suspense story is brillantly plotted with rich actions, characters and intrigues. Highly recommended. My question is: when will Andrews release his next book?

I could not put this down. It kept me totally absorbed from the first page. With his indepth knowledge of history and the corporate world, Andrews is a master storyteller. I would recommend this to anyone to wants to escape totally into another world of corporate espionage, sabotage and a breakneck plot. For devotees of adventure fiction this is a must read.

The best book ever on the lures of the cyberspace
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-04-27
This is, quite easily, the best book ever on the potential lures of the cyberspace; a unique analysis of one of the hottest topics of our times.

The book should be of tremendous value for academics and the interested public alike. The analysis of emotions - online and offline - is based on comprehensive academic research and previous work done by the author (Ben-Ze'ev, A. (2000). The Subtlety of Emotions. Cambridge, MA: MIT Press; also available at Amazon), and is combined with insightful perspectives on the aims and ends of online relationships. The style of writing is analytically sharp, witty and poetic at the same time.

Thorough, yet EZ

I have a lot of books on this subject, but this is the easiest and most clearly written book for the beginning home recordist I have seen. Mitch knows his business and also how to teach. He includes all necessary technical terms but explains them through simple analogy. Its almost like having a personal tutor there to help you. He anticipates and provides soulutiions for common problems that may, and probably will, arise. The book is thorough in that he takes you from shopping for and buying the right equipment, to recording and burning your music CD and distributing it online.

A Must Have for all interested in learning home recording!!!

Make Music Now!: Putting Your Studio Together, Recording Songs, Making CDs, and Distributing Online by Mitch Gallagher (Editor)
This inexpensive book is one of the best small recording/music production information sources I have read. It covers many topics, with enough detail to give a firm understanding for the novice-intermediate home recording musician, while at the same time not overwhelming him/her. It is easy to read, well divided by topic and extremely affordable. It is also thin enough to pop into your laptop case. I'd highly recommend buying a copy to anyone confused by the ANY key concepts in recording or home music production. This is a MUST have. I work for a public school system, and this book would also make an excellent text for any teachers interested in adding recording/MIDI to their curriculum.BUY IT!

Cutting edge in '99, still timeless today
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-25
This is one of the first e-marketing books I purchased when I entered the field in 1999 and it really gave me an invaluable education in online sales and marketing.

Back in the days when sock puppets sold bags of dog food online (or tried to, anyway) and gerbils were fired from cannons, Ken Evoy had a very simple proposition: if you're going to have a website, you might as well sell something. Here's a step-by-step guide to selling that something.

This book is filled with timeless tips, tricks and techniques that Ken himself has used to make money online, and he continues to use them today to sell products and to educate others. It's filled with advice on copy, pricing, positioning. guarantees... the tactics you need to know to be successful selling online.

It doesn't have fancy graphics, just a lot of screenshots and practical know-how on making sure visitors to your site actually buy your products.

Regardless of today's new sock puppets (blogs) or flying gerbils (Web 2.0), Ken's message is just as important today as it was in 1999: if you're going to have a website, you might as well sell something.

Make Your Site Sell by Ken Evoy

In "Make Your Site Sell", Ken Evoy explains the vast opportunities presented by the internet. The e-book is easy for non-experts to read. It is an excellent reference when I need assistance on any issue pertaining to the internet. Using the thousands of hyperlinks in the electronic book makes it very easy and convenient to get the information I need.

The "Make Your Site Sell" book explains clearly how to sell on the web. The e-book has thousands of hyperlinks to and from an extensive index, table of contents, glossary, the web as well as links within the content of the book. The author explains how to succeed in a web based venture by following three steps. The first step is the development, positioning and testing of a product. In this case, the author outlines the products with high potential for sales, how to evaluate and re-position products for web-worthiness, product pricing and testing, among other things. The second step is building a website that can be trusted and liked by customers, which is simple to use and easy to navigate and many other aspects which make it really sell. It is necessary to get paid for one's services through the web without problems. The third step is to build a high volume of targeted, motivated traffic timely, ethically and cost effectively.

Ken Evoy needs to be applauded for such a comprehensive user-friendly e-book. He is truly a "guru" for having produced such a high quality, informative and helpful book.

This is a GREAT book. It's SO easy to follow--very quick and easy read. It is complete--meaning no supplementals like a study guide (paper/online), etc.

I got an A. If you've ever had an awful manager and wonder how they kept their job, this book will read like the purest COMMON SENSE (validating how that awful manager's superiors had/have none). It'll make you crave every supervisor/manager you've ever had take at least ONE formal management course.

I got A's across the board in this class (took the class online at a local college).

With all that, YOU will quickly get a formal foundation for being a better manager than your worst one and for being as good as, or better than, your best ones.

I purchased this book as one of many art marketing books I have acquired. Many of the other books have limited relevant information, so I expected to be able to pick a few tidbits from this book just like most of the others. But to my surprise, this book was packed with wonderful, relevant and well versed information for todays visual artist to utilize. In fact, this book is like a bible to me....I keep it highlighted and right at my desk to reference. I also purchased one and had it sent to my son, also a painter, so he would be able to have this wealth of information himself. I highly recommend anyone that is wanting to know the in's and out's of marketing your art online, to buy this book!!!
