There are plenty of FULL COLOR book cover photos here to help you in collecting boys series books from the past. This includes cover variations of every Hardy Boys book published between 1927 and 1980. Tom Swift Jr., Chip Hilton, & Mark Tidd are also well represented.
There are also examples of covers from many other series, both forgotten to well known. Examples of these range from Dave Porter, to The Rover Boys, Ken Holt, Biff Brewster, Tom Quest, & Rick Brant. Complete book lists are included for 37 boys series.
I also recomend John Axe's other collecting guides!

When i first started to read the book "The Hardy Boys: Competitive Edge" i thought it was going to be a real boring book but it turned out to be pretty good. The book takes place in 1996 in the summer olympics and somebody is trying to sabotage the games. I thought it was good because it never got boring, the suspense was stupendous, and it was action packed. It was never boring because there was constantly something going on, it never stopped, every chapter something bad happens. The suspense was on going in the book, i was always on the edge of my seat when the hardy boys came close to the culprit but always seemed to slip away in the nick of time before the hardy boys could do anything. The book was action packed with acts of fightsm guns, and chases through the areas of Atlanta, Georgia. Like at the end, When Joe Hardy was fighting a bad guy on top of a SkyLift 400 feet in the air, now that is what i call action. The hardy boys always seemed to do the right thing in all the situations that they came across, and they made reading the book all worth while. And their funny comments kept me laughing through the whole book.

In this Hardy Boys book the super-sleuths track down a sabatuer who claims to be a black knight with a flaming sword. They encouter many threats and dangers along the way. This book is so full of suspence that I couldn't sleep for the next two "knights". It is a must read for all mystery lovers.

This is one of the best casefile series books. Not only is it an introduction to the totally new high tech Hardy's, but a good look at their real lives & reactions to them. A real sense of family concern for one another adds to the book's attraction. Joe's guilt in betraying Iola, Fenton's anger in the boys for remaining in Bayport, Frank's concern for his brother, Chet's awkwardness around Joe following the explosion, Callie's tears in being tied up, these personal glimpses

Frank and Joe have launched themselves into a big pickle, helping their star basketballer friend, Davis, choose a college. 2 particular colleges will do anything to recruit Davis, even murder! All is not as it seems and Frank and Joe are faced with a most difficult case. Great for basketball fans, detective fans and everyone who ever liked a Hardy Boy's book.

Frank and Joe's friend Davis Johns is one of the hottest high school basketball prospects in the state, and two colleges are going all-out to sign him. But the competition between the two programs gets downright ugly. And now the game has taken an even more sinister turn: The head coach at Bayport U has suddenly dropped dead!
The Hardys are convinced that the death came as a result of foul play, and they're determined to slam-dunk the case. But the killer is running to show, he's still got a few shots left, and he's aiming them right at Frank and Joe. The boys know that the clock is ticking and that losing this game could be murder!
Read this book and find out what happens next!

First, I must say that this is a great book, but that I think Vanessa was wrong. She said that Joe was being the jerk, when she was being the jerk. She never even asked Joe to dance with her and she was showing feelings for Billy Barta, whom I think is ugly. She must have danced about ten songs with Billy while Joe only danced for an hour. She was the jerk, sorry Vanessa. You should have apologized, not Joe. Joe has been brought up on murder charges too many times, like this one when they thought he killed Billy Barta. I think Billy deserved it, whoever did it to him. It is full of suspense and action. A must read!

My son hates to read and was very upset when he found out that I bought him books as a present. After his 2 hour tantrum he finally sat down and looked at them. Needless to say that night before bed he told me I could buy him some more because he had read them all! Now he reads everything he can get his hands on. Because the book's stories are designed in a comic book fashion it held his interest. Thank you Hardy Boys!

This is a packaging of the first three Hardy Boys Graphic Novels in textured hardback editions by SPOTLIGHT BOOKS. These hardbacks are mainly marketed for the Schools & Libraries, but if you want a real sturdy edition of the Graphic Novels, these are the ones to get.
One difference is that these editions lack the book number seen on their book-store counterparts. These are not to be confused with the Papercutz Hardbacks also being offered.
This is not a box set, just three books warpped in plastic.
Titles in this pre-pack:
THE OSCEAN OF OSYRIA
IDENTITY THEFT
MADHOUSE

The Hardy Boys are so cool. The Hardy Boy's Ghost Stories is the best out of whole collection. The book gave me a hell of a scare. In my opinion The Walking Scarecrow is one of the best and most scariest stories ever written . I urge all readers to buy this book as it is so excellent. I think Franklin Dixion has out done himself with this marvellous novel.

Similar in content to The Nancy Drew Guide To Life, this book outdoes it both in size and quality. Oddly enough, although this is a picture cover (PC) book, it comes with a dustjacket bearing art identical to the cover! This short (less than 50 pages), inexpensive volume is illustrated with color reproductions of various original series covers and some black and white frontispiece illustrations. Divided into 7 chapters, The Hardy Boys' Guide To Life offers up advice gleaned from the pages of the stories themselves.
Originally this book was to be titled The Hardy Boys Swell Guide to Life, which is probably why the DJ description still uses the archaic word swell.
I enjoyed The Hardy Boys Guide to Life. It is a fun, quick read which should be in every Hardy Boys fan's collection

An attractively designed little book lavishly illustrated with the gripping dustjacket covers and frontispieces from the various titles in the Hardy Boys series. Its 44 pages are chockful of information, advice, and reflections from Frank and Joe Hardy for anyone who has set his ballcap on attaining health, wealth, and happiness. My favorite from Frank and Joe:
"You just can't rely on men who don't have a woman around the house to keep them straight."
Ah! ... too true!
At 7"x5" the book is just a tad too big to stuff in the back pocket of my weathered Levi's so I keep my copy in a cigar box on the coffee-stained dashboard of my rusty old pickup truck for ready reference in sticky situations.

Along with the information, the book is beautifully done with photographs of the various cover arts. As I stated in the Girls' Series book review, the book is worth it for the photographs alone.
A very good value for the price.
