What a great book! I don't think it could have been written any better! I wish Pride's career didn't have to end, but it all worked out. I almost cried at the end, thinking that there was no more racing Pride to look foreward to. Pride did have an amazing career, and it came together in one amazing book!

Im soo happy Pride didnt die and Im also glad he wont be over raced no more and lives at Whitebrook. Pride is a great horse. How he wins and tries his hardest in his races and fights through the colic. He is one of Wonders best offsprings I know. He really has Wonders heart to win and please the ones he loves. I kinda wish he would still race but this will be best 4 him after he had a great racing career.[...]

This is a truly rare book in children's fiction; a well-written equestrian adventure that takes you into the fast-paced world of horse racing. There are parts of this book that will move you to tears, others will have you cheering on the edge your seat - even if that seat is an armchair. I really really like this... characters are developing, and they are turning out to be different than we expected. It's really a nice change from the first books... things are actually happening. Definitely excellent.

Pascal is a gifted storyteller mixing suspense, mystery, intrigue, and romance into her narrative. I found the plot fast-paced and immensely readable. The series just gets better and better! Fans of VC Andrews & Sherry A. Mauro will enjoy these books, too!

This book contains grahic violence (lots of curse words too). "But then she saw the blood, it had poured into a thick black pool around her head, sacrafice almost like a halo. It was more blood than..." This is sick. Young adults don't need to read this. What kind of ideas do they get from this? Reviewed by the mother of a 13-yr old.

this book starts out with us finding out that ella was only grazed with the gunshot wound. she goes back to her house plotting bloody revenge against gaia. heather and ed get even closer leaving gaia feeling like a fifth wheel. this book has a
lot of action and a very surprise ending. this almost beats number 9 for suspense and drama but not quite. it is well worth reading for all you fearless fans out there.

I have loved all the Fearless books so far, and found this one ecspecially intriguing for two reasons.
#1> this is really for the whole series but it counts for this one too. They cuss, they think about things we think about, and they arent perfect little teenage angels. (i know none of you are) It makes u relate to the characters emotions better. That sounds corny and stuff, but i dont care.

#2> awwwww, ima hopeless romantic. (and i emphasize the hopeless part)but Sam and Gaia get together. yea!

#3> ok i said only two, but i lied its 3 now. Ed and Heather. Thats it. I dont like heather (i guess were not supposed to like her) but Ed and Heather are good together

but just and FYI: dont read this unless u have read all the others, everyone knows its no fun then.

I have made it a habit this year to get through many of the classics on audio book during my daily commute. I picked Pilgrim's Progress since it was one of the most influential English books ever published, and I wanted to see what it was all about.

The audio book was published by Blackstone Audio and the reader was Robert Whitfield. The reader did an excellent job and was very easy to listen to. He did some characterization with his voice that made it easy to know which character was speaking. I was a little worried about the older style English, but it gave me no problem. It probably helps that I am familiar with the King James Version of the Bible. Overall, listening to this book worked out very well.

This is the first book length allegory that I have been through and I thought it was an excellent way to teach. There is no doubt which principal each character is supposed to represent by their name, and their actions represented that well also. I can understand why so many families had this book in their libraries. As far as Christian doctrine goes, there are a few things that some would disagree with, but most of the principals taught are still generally accepted today. The path to God's presence is filled with opposition, but there is help available and the reward is worth it.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to understand an important part of our heritage, and to see what an effective tool allegory is.

I love this book. It was written from a jail cell in the 1600s. This version is the original so the text is difficult to read at first but I would not want a watered down modernized version (which can be purchased). I find if I read in chunks it starts to flow nicely. The characters have names like, "Evangelist", "Piety", "Talkative", "Faith", etc. So you know just where someone is coming from. I have marked up this book with pencil just like I do my scriptures! It is like reading one long parable in story form! Cool book. I'm glad to have found it.

We've read this book to our son and he has really enjoyed it. He doesn't yet fully understand everything and we had to stop and explain a lot to him, but it is something that we plan on reading over and over again as our kids continue to grow.
I read a review that stated that a main flaw in this book was the lack of one on one relationship with Christ. I can understand what they are saying, but I think what you have to keep in mind is that while we are here on earth and in our day and age we do not physically see Christ. He was once here walking and living on this earth, but He is now in heaven. He uses other means now to maintain a personal relationship with us. For example, we can know Christ through His word and through prayer. Just as in the book, He often also sends other Christians along in our life to help us and encourage us. This book is a good example of a walk of faith. We can't see and physically touch Christ right now, but when we are in heaven we WILL see Him just as Bunyan talks about in the book. Christian persevered in his walk without physically seeing Christ and he was rewarded in the end for his faith. For now, how much greater our reward is for those who have not seen Him and yet believed!

Enthralling. This book will help every Christian deal with the battles of being a Christian in this life and all the struggles that go with it. It teaches you never to give up even when you feel like you can't go on. Life's struggles are not a new occurrence, but as timeless as human existence itself. It teaches you not to be too concentrated on your struggles, but to look at the great prize which is Heaven and not be distracted or enticed by the struggles of life nor the easy way out. Excellent. It is a must read for every Christian.

The first time that I encountered Christian and his pilgrimage was as a preface and a family favorite in the book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Unfortunately, it was not until twenty-something years later that I actually got around to reading the book itself. If I were you, I would not wait that long.

The first part of the current combined book appeared in 1678. Bunyan, a nonconformist Protestant minister who was imprisoned for preaching without a license, wrote at least the first part of the book in jail. The second part was first published in 1684. It is likely the most popular allegory ever written, and is still one of the best selling books of all time.

What makes it so popular? The obvious key to its popularity is its simple, crisp style. Even accounting for the language changes between the seventeenth century and now, it is not a struggle to read Progress and it flows well for the modern reader. Although the book is allegory, the characters are full of little realistic details that make them feel quite human. Incidentally, I was reading this book as I was walking some of the old pilgrimage trails of Europe and it was interesting to me how vivid and applicable his version of the pilgrimage experience is. The Slow of Despair rang remarkably true, as did characters such as Talkative and Mr. Worldly Wisdom.

The Oxford University Press edition is bound with a scholarly introduction which is, for a change, worth reading. It also came with explanatory notes and a glossary which were helpful for the modern reader who is not familiar with the everyday language of the period.

I read this book more than a decade ago. It belonged to my cousin and I would raid her bookshelf ever time I went to her house.

I've read several Sweet Dreams series book, but this is the only one whose title I remember. It's a tear-jerker, and even though at 9 years old I was too young to know about boyfriends and girlfriends and those types of relationships, I could still empathize with Mariah's pain.

I wish I had a copy of this book. It's very memorable.

I am surprised by all of the reviews of this book by people who read it several years ago. I thought I was being silly by coming on amazon to find this book that I read when I was [...] (13 years ago), but now I see that I am not the only one that this book had an impact on. I highly recommend P.S. I love You to anyone.

This was one of the most treasured books I have ever read. As it was also the very first teenage romance I read (over twenty years ago), the ending of the book was a huge surprise. It is impossible for anyone reading a review to apppreciate how beautiful this book is, you simply HAVE to read it. This book is timeless. I also loved the sequal "Falling in Love Again."

When I was in 9th grade a friend of mine gave me this book, I didn't even ask for it she just said here read this and let me know what you think. So I read it and I laughed, cried, and fell in love with the characters. I live in Orange County Calif. and I could imagine everything they were talking about even Palm Springs. Im 27 now, I must have read that book at least 20 times. Im here on amazon to purchase another because I gave it to another friend years ago and she gave it to anohter and so on. That book takes me to another place and I will always remember how special this book means to me.

I first read P.S. I Love You by Barbara Conklin 11 or 12 years ago when I happened to come across it at a second-hand book sale. Even as an eleven-year-old, I thought the title was corny. Nevertheless, I was drawn to purchasing the book because of the cover photo - a beautiful girl with the straightest brown hair ever and sad soulful eyes.

At the time, I had had no experience of ever falling in love. The most I'd experienced was a few shy crushes, but once I started reading the book, I absolutely fell in love with it. Barbara Conklin did an amazing job of writing from the perspective of a sixteen-year-old, and it is no wonder that this book was a sure hit with its target audience: teenagers.

Teenagers will be able to identify with all that Mariah (the main character) feels. You can relate to the bliss of falling in love, and even though I myself was inexperienced in love, it described first love in the way I imagined it to be - and also turned out to be. Also, when you read about Mariah's insecurities and what Paul Strobe (the heartthrob) will think of her if he finds out she's never had a boyfriend, it will remind you of your own experiences. Perhaps now as an adult, these matters seem trivial, but as a teen, you could totally understand why she panicked and felt the need to "impress" Paul...

I must have read P.S. I Love You more than a dozen times that first summer I had the fortune of finding it. Each time, I never failed to have tears in my eyes. In fact, it doesn't matter how many times you've read it because the ending will always bring you to tears. But don't misunderstand me: this isn't a book filled with misery and by no means is it a tragedy. The realistic side of portraying what it is like to lose love is surely an important life lesson for all teens, and the humorous parts will also bring you much laughter.

After each reading, I always wish that Barbara Conklin could have written a happier ending. After all, we all have a part of us that wishes for the fairy-tale ending of Mariah and Paul living happily ever after! Admittedly, there is a small part in all of us that wishes first love could last forever...

But Barbara Conklin has ended the book as she has for a good reason: she shows us how it is possible to go on even when love has been lost. You will admire Mariah's strength and courage in overcoming her loss and also the poignancy in how she keeps Paul alive in her memories.

P.S. I Love You was the first teen romance I read, and the one that paved the path to reading more. More than a decade after reading teen romances, P.S. I Love You remains the only story I remember. I recommend this book to all teens who are interested in teen romances. One word of advice: don't throw this book away! I did and regretted it terribly! I've just purchased a used copy online again and am infinitely happy to possess it again. When I read the story now as an adult, it seems a little too simple and innocent, but it is definitely a book I would like to pass on to my own daughter in the future, when she herself becomes a teenager.

I bought this entire series for my female junior high school age students so that they could have books that they could relate to and get much needed life lessons from them. After starting this first book I couldn't bring myself to present the books to them. The book sounds like it's written by somebody's mother trying to teach them write from wrong. The author keeps throwing in spiritual lessons every two lines, rather then letting the story speak for itself. The language was unconvincing and unnatural. Are there really kids out there that talk like that? Reading it was kind of torturous. But I did finish the book so I could see how all the drama was resolved. Will I finish reading the series? Not sure if I can bring myself to do it.

Staying Pure#1 Very well done. Able to see clearly the lettering. Excellent stories, helpful for the elderly as well as the youth.

Originally brought this book for my pre-teen daughter because she read all the books in the "Carmen Browne" pre-teen series. I read this book first and decided it was not for pre-teens. The story lines are too mature for her now. Because the stories are true to life and well written, I plan to save them for her to read later.

Mrs. Moore has an excellent way of addressing real life issues and demonstrating how young people can make God honoring choices in each situation. I read two of the series and plan to read the rest.

I bought this book and book II at my local library book sale. It was in the religion section, and I thought the book cover was interesting, especially after I saw it was written by an African-American writer. I didn't realize at the time that the book was directed towards teen girls, but I enjoyed the book tremendiously. Not only teen females have spiritual blocks...Anyway, I loved both books and even got my mother to read, she enjoyed them as well. I will be reading more books from this author and you should as well!

In the story Staying Pure by Stephanie Perry Moore, this story talks of teenage relationships and decisions one might have to make in those relationships. The main characters in the story start out with Payton Skyy, a senior in school who is the cheerleading captain, president of the honour society, vice president of the Student Goverment Association, senior editor of our newspaper staff, and a debutante.

Dakari Graham, Payton's two-year boyfriend in the begining of the story, an honour student, and the star of thier school. In their relationship Dakari wants to have intimate relations with Payton, but because of Payton's Christian views and her belief's in them she declined to them.

She very much loved Dakari but knew that it was wrong to do so. Dakari, who wanted to have intimate relations with Payton had a one-night stand with a girl named Starr at a restaraunt, and left Payton for this girl. Payton was devistated and did many rash things to win him back even thoughit was the same reason she had retaliated, and even thent her efforts were meaningless.

It took her a long time to ease the pain of what Dakari had done to her and leave her. She stopped eating she was depressed, the usual thing that happens when a girl gets her heart broken. Then after she got passed it a little, she had even more problems with her friends, 1 had cheated on her and the other was tested positive for pregnancy, she helps them through this.

She then starts to get to know another boy of her acquiantance, Tad Taylor and they spend some time together. I think that Tad is a perfect match for Payton and a very good influence on her as well. This book helps young christian woman and men get a good godly view on things.

I think this book could have given a bit of a better ending but it was still a very good book to read. Also i would like to recommend this book for mature audiences only and at the very least 16+ if anything.

Teeth Are Not for Biting (Best Behavior Series)

This is a great book to read to toddlers to teach acceptable and unacceptable behavior. It has colorful pictures and using simple words easy to understand. This book also offers tips and advice at the end for parents and caregivers.

I wish I would have seen this book four months ago when my now 17 month old toddler was in his biting prime. Nevertheless, I still purchased it (his biting had already significantly decreased) and I'm very happy I did. Once in a while his biting will "resurface" and home we go after day care to take a look at his "Teeth Are Not For Biting" book. The words are very simple and catchy, the illustrations are perfectly colorful for a toddler (white and bright teeth being the focus) and he actually gets the hint that "teeth are not for biting"! I highly recommend this book to any parent of a baby/toddler. Good to have, especially before the problem begins.

The best behavior series is tackling children's less than desirable behaviors one by one;preventing kicking, hitting, the sharing of germs, tail pulling, and now, biting. The text highlights the benefits of teeth for activities such as chewing and smiling as well as acknowledging situations where children might want to bite and alternatives to biting. A variety of well-drawn illustrations present a variety of children in multiple environments. The text does not follow a predictable pattern-while some phrases are used repeatedly, the pattern changes a few times over the course of the text, from "Teeth are not for biting" to "Biting hurts" and back again, which may be confusing for the 0-3 year old audience. Parents may appreciate the resources for discouraging biting and assistance with teething available at the end of the book.

My son had a real problem w/ biting, but after reading this book over and over, I really saw a reduction. It's a cute book, great pictures. Def would buy it!

As the director of an early childhood facility, we go through cycles of biting with the children. This book is one of the most effective books we use to help children, families, and teachers work through this difficult developmental stage. We have two copies--one for the classroom and one to send home for the parents to read with their child.

One of the better books I've read in a long time. On par with "Kite Runner", this novel also provides historical background. Like others, I read this in two sittings and was saddened that it had to end. A book that creates such vivid pictures as this does is a treasure. Enjoy!

The great storytellers like Singer, Twain, and O'Henry, always seemed to write invisibly. They served story so strongly, that it was easy to get lost in their powers. David Benioff serves us just such a feast in "City of Thieves". These days, it is so rare to read a book where the author is confident and skilled enough to step back from the craft of writing. He is clearly in control, but his deftness allows a great yarn to simply capture the reader. The richness of word is palpable, yet Benioff is so comfortable in his skin, that story never serves writer. The themes are so universal that this work transcends a war story, a coming of age story, and a love story. It is simply about the human spirit, and how in our most difficult moments perhaps we live our most fully.
There is no greater thrill for a reader, than to witness a writer "become". "City of Thieves" is that moment for David Benioff. Not only is it great literature, but it is one terrific "read".

A good mix of humor and the terror of surviving in WW II Leningrad. Not a top-tier novel, but one that reads smoothly, moves quickly and holds one's interest.

This book was really excellent. I enjoy reading WWII novels, and this one is one of the finest I've read. All the characters are well written and the dialogue between Lev and Kolya is witty and entertaining. The author does a great job describing the cold and the conditions in which Leningrad's residents lived during the siege, without making it a "bummer" of a story to read.

The premise--finding a dozen eggs--is a crazy one, but when you consider the conditions in which the characters are searching, it seems plausible. The people and sites they encounter along the way are believable and entertaining, just like the main characters.

I highly recommend this book. It was very, very good.

In City of Thieves David Benioff sets his characters off on an absurdist quest: to find a dozen eggs in a frozen, starving war zone. Along the way the readers are treated to a detailed treatise on the meaning of survival, friendship, and hope, all of it dressed up in a story that is deftly plotted and wonderfully described. This is a novel you don't want to miss.

For this book review I read Little Town on the Prarie by:Laura Ingles Wilder. This book is good reading for preteen girls. The story is historical and is about living in the pioneer days.

In this book Laura and her family work hard to send her older sister to Collage and keep her there untill she finishes. Laura and her little sister Grace have to go to school when they move to town for the winter. Laura is very exited about going to school because she wants to get her teachers certifacit when she is sixteen. To find out what else happens you will have to read the book.

This book was fun to read and kept my intrest. It was a little confusing at timeskeeping up with who was talking. It was very interesting also to learn about how they lived back then. Over all it was a good book and I would consider reading it again.

It's wonderful to see how my children love listening to these books over and over, now that we've been collecting the CDs. The little details really stick in their heads, and have been surprisingly useful tidbits of information on several occasions, as they hear or read other things that relate!

When I first bought the CDs, I was unsure about Cherry Jones' accent, but it just brings a nice, down-home aspect to the reading. Of course, the readings are unabridged - the only way to go, I think!

My favorite part of the CDs, though, is hearing the songs, often accompanied by a fiddle. As a child, I remember skipping over the songs as I encountered them in the text, especially those I didn't know, and it has really added to the experience of the books to hear an actual tune for them. Often, the songs reflect the mood of the moment exceptionally well. Cherry Jones sings them out (usually as Pa!) in her low alto voice, and you do really have to hear a few of them to get used to it, but we love them.

Laura Ingalls thought that being thirteen was difficult, but now she is on the cusp of her fifteenth year, and things around her are changing like crazy. After a difficult winter full of one blizzard after another, Laura is happy to be back on the claim shanty with her family, away from the hustle and bustle of town. But she knows that her family will most certainly head back to De Smet to live in the shop before winter comes again, to protect them from the harsh weather that may lie ahead. Weather aside, however, Laura can't believe how many new things are arising. Especially the most important one of all - changes for Mary.

Laura couldn't be happier to be back in school again. After so many months of studying on her own, she is thrilled to be back in the classroom with her old friends Mary and Minnie, and Ida. But there's someone new in the classroom. A person from Laura's past who makes Laura shake with anger - Nellie Oleson. Laura, however, is determined to ignore the nasty Nellie and study as hard as she possibly can in order to gain her teaching certificate, and help to send Mary to college. But even without her being a part of the workforce, Mary is able to go off to college, and Laura couldn't be happier - or more devastated. But seeing how much Mary loves college, Laura resolves to study even harder, and begin earning the money to assist in keeping her there. Of course, Laura never imagined that things could possibly stand in her way. Such as the selfish new schoolteacher who thrives on taunting and humiliating both Laura and Carrie in front of the other students; and working as a seamstress in town. But the most shocking of all, is Almanzo Wilder's sudden interest in young Laura. Almanzo is a handsome fellow, whose Morgan horses are the talk of the town, and now Almanzo seems to have taken a fancy to Laura - something that leaves her confused and excited at the same time. But no matter what, she must remember to continue her studies, or else Mary may have to return home before her education is complete.

It seems strange to bear witness as someone ages, but that is exactly what readers have had the opportunity to do as Laura Ingalls grows in age, height, and maturity. The love she holds for her family is so refreshing and charming, and truly keeps the reader's interest peaked; while the constant maturity Laura displays in each and every one of her decisions is just unbelievable. Laura has completely grown up before our eyes, and each year she just becomes more and more lovable. The inclusion of facts regarding the changes taking place during this era are interesting, and present a fun learning experience for readers; while the sudden budding romances springing up around the young people of De Smet indicates just how much older these characters have become. Almanzo Wilder has grown on me over the past few books, and I love reading the scenes where he is present; and Nellie Oleson, as nasty as she is, will always remain a fun character whom you absolutely love to hate, but hate to love. This series just gets better and better!

I read this book to my two sons, 7, 9 and my husband, during long drives. We all loved it. Even though the main character is a girl, my boys were interested the entire time and identified with Laura. The descriptions are great and the characters are well-drawn. We're now reading These Happy Golden Years and my family is loving that, too. I recommend this book for a family to read together.

This is a charming, entertaining, and educational story about what life was like among homesteaders in the Dakota territories in the 1880s. I mostly agree with the other positive reviews here. But there is a teaching moment in this book that should not be overlooked. The parents in this book are paragons of virtue, and their behavior matches the highest standards - standards of 1880, not 2006. There is a short scene during one of the "literaries" where several men perform in blackface. Although it occurs with innocent intent, modern readers might find it in questionable taste if they don't allow for the historical context.

If they're smart, parents and teachers will embrace this as an opportunity to open a discussion with children about changing standards, and the work it took to improve those standards.

I would recommend this book to girls who like journal style writing. Kristiana Gregory writes this book as the main character, Suzanna's, diary. She uses the elements of suspense and surprise to hold your attention; including how, when, and where Suzanna and Clara's mother died. I learned a lot from this book about the Gold Rush. I learned what gold fever was and how some men became thieves because of it. If you want to learn more about the Gold Rush and you like surprises then you should definitely read this book.

I am a huge fan of all the Dear America books. The Gold Rush is really cool and this book made me feel like I was there. This story is about a young girl who leaves her home to go and live with relatives. On the way her father gets gold fever, so they head out west. I really enjoyed reading about Susanna and all her many adventures

This book is the most fantastic book I have ever read! Susanna(the main charecter of this book)a girl who has no mom, a father who is a doctor in the Gold Rush, a bossy older sister, and who gets merried at the age of 15. She is always getting into trouble during the Gold Rush, But Wait! I don't want to spoil the whole story! I want you to read it yourself. I love this story more than anything ! Please consider this amazing book!

If your like me loving the past than you should read this book. It's about a girl and her father is a minner so they have to go differnet places so he can find work. At some parts it's hard for her and her sister. I SAY YOU SHOULD READ IT!!!

This book is about a girl named Susanne whose dad finds out about the California Gold Rush. They decide to stay for about a year, then go back to Oregon. Their dad goes away for a little while, leaving Susanne and her sister in charge of the cabin. A boy gets sick, and they want to help him, but their dad is away. They go searching for him, and they come upon a chunk of gold weighed around 1,000 dollars. Back then, that was a lot of money to just find. Anyway, this is a very good book and I suggest it to readers. READ IT!!!

My friend at school and I are both Fearless freaks, and we do this whole book-swapping thing. Well, when I handed her over one of my books, she handed me this, and I thought that it was an unnecissary book to read, and it would make no difference whether I read it or not...until I picked it up. WOWEE! It was great! The book is all about how Gaia is bumped into on the street in 2002, and given a mysterious message about how she can discover her past. The book will flip from the 'present' 2002, to the past 1973, when Tom (and oliver) met Katia. I recommend this book to all of the people who enjoy reading Fearless, and who want to discover more about this troubled teen! I honestly haven't looked at Tom and Oliver the same way (if you can call it 'looking') since! Enjoy this easily 5 star book!

This book would have to be one of the best book out of the seris!
Gaia is acproached by one of Loki's old friends,who has quit Loki's agency and "Permantly Borrowed" some files about her parents and some of the evil thinks Loki did just so he could take Gaia or Katia.
Gaia does some detective work in this book to find the clues,and is revisted by some old memories.
As well in this book,we learn who Gaia's dad is but sadly Gaia doesnt get to find out as the files are snatched away from her.
A great book that I would recommend to any Fearless fan!

This book was brilliant. This young adult action/mystery series is about Gaia Moore, a New Yorker born without the fear gene. This book goes back to explain about how troubled and dangerous her parents' lives were. While some questions were answered, one still remains - how did Katia Moore end up dead? Slow to start, but built up dramatically into an absolute thriller. (A+)

This is such a good book. You learn a lot about Gaia's child past. And during this whole time she is trying to find things out. So in other words you know things she doesn't. During this Tom's twin bro comes up Gaia's mom and this weir dguy and about a few more you will have to find out about when you Read it.

When i saw this book along with the next Fearless book i was picking up, i had to get it. Sometimes i would be so confused reading the books that i'd have to re-read some to understand completely what was going on and why. After i read Before Gaia, everything was much more clear. It explains many events in the past books that didn't make much sense. I would definetly recommend this book for any Fearless reader, but i warn you..if you haven't read all the books, don't count on understanding it!!
