This series is designed for anybody who works with students in upper grades.
BOOK 1 covers the Distributive Law, linear equations, number lines, properties of exponents, polynomials, and factoring polynomials. (Much easier than it sounds.)
Includes Answers and a Pre-Algebra Review. Excellent!

This series starts with the ultimate in basics and moves rapidly, in a well ordered fashion, to the essence of Algebraic concepts. The book takes what you learned in Arithmatic and shows you how it applies to upper Mathematics. The explainations are clear and precise with no fluff. We used it when my daughter was struggling with the conceptual jump from Arithmatic to Mathematics. The book leaves no gaps or guess work. When she was through with the exercises in book 1 she tested into the upper half of Algebra 1. I highly recommend it for any student. Forget the expensive, boring, repetitive, & typically hated curriculums. We did follow it with the second book which is equally as well done.

I am delighted to use this excellent, thin (77 page) algebra text with my son. I have been homeschooling my five children beginning in 1993. After dragging through Saxon Algebra with my two daughters, I was weary of the cluttered, text-rich format that covered way too much material. In about a month and a half, we will have covered this book completely. I look forward to receiving Algebra Book 2.
I plan to supplement with Saxon and Barron's Algebra the Easy Way for word problems. However, I want a clear initial presentation of the basics that progresses logically. This book delivers in a very pleasing way.
Thank you, Stephen Jahnke!

This is such a fun book for both toddler boys and girls. My daughter was resistant to wearing underpants but now takes great joy in searching her underpants for hidden aliens every morning while getting dressed. It seems to be a great companion to toilet training books since wearing big girl or boy underpants is such a huge part of that process. Fun and silly, we read this book aloud all the time as part of our bed time routine. Aliens Love Underpants

Right away this book is appealing to the eye. Bright colors with round friendly little aliens bouncing through the pages. And what's inside lives up to the cover and the excitement of the title. Its revealed the aliens visit the earth because of its underpants. And the story in fun rhyme proceeds to tell what aliens do with underpants. Its a great story to be realoud to younger kids, with simple words and great pictures that will hold their attention. A definate new favorite. That's sure to appeal to all.

The Seekers series is excellent! The themes that appear throughout the books are both engaging and important to the young readers they target. The characters are some of the best to come to youth fiction in years. The books focus on a group of eighth grade boys and girls who go through the difficulties of growing up, and more importantly growing up with a Christian attitude toward others. The series is a fun read; through imaginative writing and painted detail, the reader feels like he/she enters the world of Allie, Holden and the rest of the gang. This is a must read for all kids!

Amelia Earhart is a very good book. I think every child ages 9 - 12 should read Amelia Earhart because it teaches them to do what you want to do. Amelia's dad was trying to stop her but Amelia said it was her dream to fly. Amelia always liked to see the airplanes take off to fly. I think Amelia Earhart is a very excellent book.

My son really enjoys this book, He likes all the animals and we make animal noises as we read it which makes him laugh. We are a bilingual family so to find bilingual books is great. We read the book at least 3 times in a row, so we alternate the languages from spanish to english. Also it's a short book so it holds my son's attention span.

A good lesson for all kids that eventually want a pet of some kind by teaching responsibility in owning a pet.
The story begins with Arthur secretly wanting a pet and waiting for the right moment to make the request to his parents. One evening at dinner his sister, D.W. announced that Arthur wanted a puppy.
After his parents considered the options of having a pet they made Arthur a deal that if he could show them he was responsible he could get a puppy. Arthur and D.W. were trying to come up with ways to prove this that night in her room. At the table D.W. had her cash register advising Arthur to get a job to pay back the seven dollars he owed her. The pictures in the book are detailed showing the items in her room, such as a dollhouse, toy duck and rocking horse.
For anyone that has watched any of the episodes of Arthur they know the dog is called Pal and a part of the show. The book is a nice story that has funny antics while watching pets, but shows how Arthur takes the business seriously and is rewarded in the end.
The entire family shares in all responsibilities as is demonstrated through out the book with them making decisions together on the dog and caring for the visiting pets. Arthur sticks with the business at hand through the week he is caring for the pets and accounts for all of them. When presented with the dilemma of how to show his parents he can handle responsibility, Arthur sets out to accomplish that task.
My six-year old at one time wanted a pet and loves Arthur's Pet Business. The book tackles the issues of caring for various pets by showing they need food, rest in their own sleeping sections, cleaning of their cages and plenty of fresh air by taking walks. Showing Arthur reading the dog care book and concern about Perky reinforces that having a pet is serious business.

What child hasn't asked for a pet at some point in their childhood. What an excellent way to teach responsibility. This book shows the parent how to test a child's readiness for responsibilities, while showing the young readers the perils and pitfalls of having one's own pet business, as well as the rewards, and entertaining us all in the meanwhile. Well done. It's also fun to look in all of Marc Brown's books and find the hidden names!

I am in awe of how Marc Brown has simplified the concept of responsibility, so that it may be
understood by my two year old daughter.
My two year old daughter summed this book up by saying; " Arthur showed his mommy and daddy he can take care of everyone's pets now he can have Pal . In my eyes that says it all !
The author has sucessfully done what was intended . He communicated an important moral concept to a small child , what being responsible is and how doing things morally right can be fun and rewarding.
Keep up the good work Marc Brown you are helping me communicate important moral, social, family, and educational values to my daughter. Great Books and Characters

In this, another great book by Marc Brown, children can learn vicariously through Arthur about money management, and specifically, how hard it is to earn money and how easily it is lost. These, ( the Arthur and D.W. Books), are great books, and more up to date than most children's books.

This is a great book for grandmas to share with their grandchildren. The five concepts that children learn in this accordian-style book (action, feeling, color, shape, and number) are easily grasped through the beautiful photography of animals at the zoo. Sticker sheets and an activity card accompanying the book reinforces the concepts learned. Can't wait for the other books in the series to be published.

My son absolutely loves this book! I think it is the unique accordion-style that makes it his favorite. He can line the book up, spread it out, and match animals. It is great for going over concepts, colors, and animal names with him. He takes it everywhere -- in the car, to restaurants, to bed at night. He does not like to share it, but many of his friends (age 18 months to 3 1/2 years) have liked it so much their parents got them their own. It has excellent features, including the size (you can take it anywhere), the accordion-style, and the fabulous photography. Additionally, the stickers and activity card are a unique idea that children love! He loves the sticky page activity the most and wants to do it all the time! I would highly recommend this book! We cannot wait for the next one in the series.

I think that this book was my favorite of all. I bought it a couple of days ago and read it in one day! It shares Albert's own personal stories of when he was a boy and a teenager, like all of them do, and they follow him up to adulthood. Again, great book (and series!)
