The Greatest Book I've Ever Read...Review Date: 2007-06-06
This book takes place in Alaska. Kävik gets taken away from is loving family. My favorite part of this book was when Kävik finds his way back to his way back up north through impossible Glaciers and rugged trine and had to travel 2000 miles to find his loving family in Copper City. In the book the Theme I personal think its never give up hope cause Kävik never gave up hope on finding his family even with a dislocated hip didn't stop Kävik . I liked all the hard ships Kävik had to go through like fighting another wolf to win his mate (who dies in the book) and traveling 2000 miles I would change nothing.

I am doing a report on Kavik The Wolf dog. Written by Walt Morey . It takes place in Alaska and Washington State ; the main characters are Kavik, Andy, and George Hunter
Bye Kavik
Kavik the Wolf dog is about a dog that just won a big sled dog race a rich man named George Hunter (who lives in Seattle) he wanted him because he won. A man named Smiley John came to pick up Kavik and put him on the plane. Kavik got put in a big cage. The plane ended up crashing. The men died. But Kavik was still alive, until Andy found him.
Do you like this book?
I like this book because it is full of action like shooting and dog fights. This book is very good. It is sad sometimes. There are parts were you feel like you are right with Kavik like when Kavik was very sick in the first part of the story. This book has a lot of heart jumping parts in it, like when Andy was going to shoot Kavik and Kavik was still alive. Also when Kavik got a girlfriend I think that Walt Morey did a very good job in the middle of the story I liked the middle of the story.
Recommend or not
I like this book because I like dogs and stories that keep your eyes glued to the pages. I would recommend this book to all my friends and give it a five star

Ananka Fishbein. Your normal twelve-year-old girl whose life is a "flavorless mush". Until. Until a sinkhole appears in a the park across the street, and she discovers the Shadow City deep beneath the streets of New York City. Until she meets Kiki Strike, a mysterious girl who wants to be "dangerous". So begins an adventure to explore the Shadow City that will bring together six very different but very talented twelve-year-old girls.
This book is brilliant. Yes. It honestly is. Completely witty with a fun narration by Ananka and with great characters. Unrealistic? Probably. Do I care? Maybe a little. Not a lot, but...just enough to keep me from completely loving this book. I just didn't believe that characters all the time. But setting aside disbelif, this book is great fun. Exciting and hard to put down and definitely full of enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. I will definitely be reading Kiki Strike: The Empress's Tomb.

One other major character is Ananka Fishbein, who is called upon to help Kiki with a certain mission. Together with a small group of other girls each of whom has a special ability to give to the 'team', Kiki and Ananka face smugglers and kidnappers to come out victorious if not a little bruised.
Ananka is the perfect main character because she is both courageous and smart but also not infallible.

An truly inspiring story Review Date: 2007-08-24
Sorry to say, I have been disappointed. It seems to me he did not intend for women to read Bad Ground. As I read it, I kept thinking that my husband would really enjoy this story, but I felt I was intruding in a man's world. I haven't been able to finish Sutter's Cross. It started out pretty interesting, but it became obvious what was going to happen in the end. It just didn't hold my interest.
I will never forget the story of Levi's Will.

Quiet, thought-provoking, journey of discoveryReview Date: 2007-02-27
In 1943, nineteen-year-old Will Mullett decides he cannot stay with his rigid, dogmatic, Old Order Amish family, and heads out to face the evil, the challenges, the complexity, the diversity, and the beauty of the World.
Will McGruder is Will Mullett.
W. Dale Cramer has given us a wondrous gift of prose in this introspective fictional biography. Adeptly shifting back and forth between two time-lines (the days between Will's father's death and Will's father's funeral, and the decades between Will's departure from home and his father's death), we get to ride along as Will ponders such weighty issues as the meaning of life, the differences between rituals and relationships, the differences between religion and faith and beliefs and values, the tendency for people to parent their own children not very differently from how they were raised (despite vowing to do otherwise), and how to live with, and grow beyond, one's own mistakes. Mr. Cramer has created a realistic protagonist who is truly three-dimensional, in this character study of a character who is worthy of study.
The writing in "Levi's Will" flows evenly and deeply. In Orson Scott Card's "How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy," Mr. Card cites the late Octavia Butler as a prime example of an author who loaded every line with meaning, and gives the first line of Ms. Butler's "Wild Seed" as an example. Mr. Cramer has gone a step further, in a way, as even the title, "Levi's Will" has many different meanings, all of which gradually emerge throughout this rich tale of humanity, grief, tragedy, triumph, and love.
Chapter 36 of "Levi's Will" deserves special mention, as it is a turning point for the protagonist, and is a wonderful essay on the meaning of life, love, and belief. All of the bits and pieces of wisdom encountered by Will McGruder/Mullett finally coalesce into an epiphany that changes his world-view, and the reader gets to join that moment of wonder. Mr. Cramer manages to do this with finesse, and it really gives the reader a chance to re-examine his or her own beliefs and values, without feeling that the author is preaching or dictating the "Truth" or the "right" answers.
In some ways, I am startled that I enjoyed this book, and that I wrote what I wrote in this review. While I have always held strong moral and spiritual beliefs, I long ago turned away from organized religion, because of the rigid dogma and ritual I had encountered. From reading the description and reviews of this book, one might get the impression that religion is the focus of the story. I see it differently. Religion is the context of "Levi's Will," but its focus is really on the beliefs, values, ethics, and morality that are supposed to be the true messages of religion. I think there is much that is of value in "Levi's Will" for the Christian, and for anyone of any other religion, as well as for agnostics and even atheists. At it's root, "Levi's Will" is a tale, well told, about values and the power of love.

The "hole" truth!Review Date: 2007-12-30
Page after page, the hole is the centerpiece through which 'nothing' and 'all things' can be seen. In his usual playful style sprinkled with his delightful sense of humor, Hillig guides the readers on a journey through the hole and into the whole.
I have since read "Enlightenment for Beginners," "The Way It Is", as well as "Seeds for the Soul," all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed. You will definitely want to read his books more than once, and they will continue to enlighten you for years to come.
My opinionReview Date: 2006-03-10
Is it Truly Necessary or Important to our every day life (what is the most important right now) to emphasize the Void like this, wich is part of the dualistic nature of the Existence. Everything and Nothing, Light and Darkness, Feminine and Masculine and so on.
I want to read those good spiritual books, wich has a positive impact on my life. Not books what will distract you too much, makes you unbalanced and has more negative than positive impact on your life and personality.
I have to say, that Chuck's books have been one of the worst spiritual books I have bumbed into. That's my personal opinion. I don't like he's pushing writing style.
I truly feel like I made a mistake when I ordered this, Enlightment for Beginners and Seeds for the Soul last Christmas. Becouse of the positive comments, these seemed good books. For me they had mostly only negative impact and I don't want to reccomend any of them to anyone. Enlightment for the beginners was the best, Seeds for the Soul worst and this goes into the middle, out of these 3 books.
Stay with well writed books, wich has positive impact on your life, like for example Stanislav Grof's and Christopher Bache's books or Echart Tolle's "The Power of Now" type books, that's my message.
Listen yourself carefully, before you decide to buy any book, don't just rush and buy them becouse they seem like great books. I learned my lesson and I will for now on consider more carefully what books I will buy and what leave behind.
There are many far more better spiritual books than these out there, truly well writed books, I reccomend using your money on them. Chuck's books aren't anything necessary to buy.
Love and Laugh to everybody's life.

A Story of Suffering and Hope...Review Date: 2001-02-22
In November of 2000, I had to pleasure of meeting Dr. Prem Sharma when he was in my area and visited my class at school. He talked to us about having respect for all people and their personal/religous beliefs and how important it was to realize that fighting does not help situations. Dr. Sharma, who lived in Burma during World War II, was forced to leave with his family because of the Japanense threat to the Burmese people. He moved with his family to India, but here found himself amongst the battle between the Hindus and the Muslims for Pakistan and India.
This book is truly a magnificent piece of work and something that all people, whether interested in Burma or not, should read. It gives insight into the lives of the Burmese people, the struggle for their freedom through war, and things that Dr. Sharma has witnessed in his life since the piece is partially biographical. The story is composed in a way so that the reader truly becomes attached to the family in the story. The power that this novel has over the reader is amazing -- you will shed some tears at least twice!
Dr. Sharma was a wonderful man to meet in person. He appeared very open to comments and questions about his novel and his homeland of Burma. As I correspond with him in Wisconsin through letters, I find that he is one of the most amazing people I have met in my life because of his talent and what he has been through.
As I anxiously await the publication of Dr. Sharma's other parts to the trilogy I urge everyone to pick up this novel and read it for a true experience of Burma and wonderful writing!

A Terrific Place to StartReview Date: 2008-04-16
To touch on some of the newer developments: Albert Bandura's work on "efficacy" or the sense of personal competence parents can easily help a child to develop. Alan Schore's work on brain-mapping and function showing how the developmental theories predating Gordon's work are reflected in how the child's brain actually operates. The "re-parenting" movement spawned in the field of alcoholism and drug abuse rehabilitation with its powerful, and very direct, implications for appropriate, functional parenting.
I'm hoping that we'll see a single book in the millennial era that pulls things together as effectively as this one did in its day. Bruce Perry's -The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog- is not that book, but the content there is powerful and highly useful for those with "difficult" children. Alice Miller's -For Your Own Good- is not that book, but what it reveals about the notions of child-rearing that continue to predominate to this day is deeply disturbing.
Pia Mellody's -Facing Codependence- is not that book, but her understanding of the child's mind and how we either shape or mis-shape it is some of the best data available. The recently published -Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families- (not to be confused with Janet Woititz's excellent book of similar title) may be the best lay-oriented piece now available for understanding what when wrong and how to fix it... or just do it right to begin with.
For those who really want to "go deep," I recommend Carl Rogers, Erik Erikson, Daniel Stern, John Bowlby, Diana Baumrind, Margaret Mahler, Jean Piaget, Pierre Janet and Alan Sroufe. These are the big names in child development at the professional level.

Incredible, life altering book!Review Date: 2008-03-12
Especially good for those who are struggling with living up to our own ideals. Because I don't believe in being overly restrictive, and I do not spank, I struggle with my fear of being too permissive...and occasionally I AM too permissive...anyway, we often reach a boiling point where my kids literally drive me crazy and I say things or handle a situation in a way I definitely regret later. Basically I overreact.
This book is a lifesaver, with clearly defined terms, and ways of thinking about conflict that you can implement TODAY. Your family life will be forever changed...and as a matter of fact, by studying these principles you will quickly see improvements in other areas, too.
One section, beginning on page 143 did more to help me with my anger than all the other books I ever read put together! I highly recommend this book, for its psychological soundness and the depth of change it will make in all your intimate relationships.
Simple, specific, and "effective"Review Date: 2007-11-05
It's about basic human interactions that will work with anyone (not just your children), so it is really a teaching process for your children as well as practice for your own communication skills.
This is the last parenting book I plan to read.

The Most Often Read Book On My ShelvesReview Date: 2008-03-21
Any writer will tell you that you don't write a best seller overnight, and this book will tell you that too. Unlike many other writing books available the pages don't contain advice at how to leave your 9 to 5 job and write the world's best novel. Instead the book is filled with useful, real advice for determined writer's to utilize and honestly get their pens on fire.
There are dozens of exercises to get you thinking and writing, with originality and flair. The book is well written and is a very easy book to devour in a short period of time. Except that you will more than likely find yourself reaching for it again and again to participate in the exercises and get you thinking on a more creative level.
A must have book for any would-be writer's bookshelf.

The Power, Challenge, and Talent to Write, And Developing it, is important.
I like to write.
Always have, I guess, ever since I was in Elementary School ( early 70's ), then Junior High and High School ( mid/late 70's ), writng book reports, and then letters to the editor of the local paper.
For various reasons none of that ever translated into a career path.
I read somewhere that we are always afraid to start something that we want to make very good, true, and serious.
Rita Mae Brown once wrote: "Creativity comes from trust. Trust your instincts."
This book influenced the last 3 years of my blogging, on 2 blogs, and will help anyone who reads it.
This book will help you find the writer within, and find the time to write more as well.
