The explanations of positions and salaries, anecdotes and advice really helped me figure out my fit in this field. I read it from cover to cover with ease and anticipation. Excellent!

The Mulligans have done an impressive job of identifying more jobs in sports journalism than I could have named. They write easily, with humor, historical references, and an eye to the future. They consider Homer the first sports journalist for his accounts of battles in The Iliad. Did you know that Bat Masterson became a sports reporter after he ended his career as a gambler/lawman of the nineteenth century? Now you do.
This book covers not only sports writing, copy editing, investigative reporting, college media relations, and freelance opportunities to name a few, but also touches on the cutting edge of multimedia work opportunities.
I wish they covered more on salary ranges within the fields they describe, but what they have done is expand the options for the reader/student/career seeker enamored of the field of sports journalism.

Great examples and first-person experiences to draw from. And a smart college student can use the book to form a great list of contacts.

I was laughing my assets off!

I was in the music business for about two years, and these stories really capture the grit. Anyone who thinks the business runs on ART and that anyone in it is an instant millionaire, has been reading WAY TOO MUCH of the fodder from the promo department!

This book is the most fun I've had with music since taking piano lessons at 12 from a beautiful older woman of 18 -- but that's ANOTHER Horror Story -- which is GREAT, as this book invites you to ENTER YOUR OWN STORY at the end! PERFECT -- I only hope I am not limited to one.

It is a great book without a doubt, and in a way an unique too. The book stores are piling up with great-career books, "success in music business", "music business in plain English" ecc. This one is the "music business in true words". The stories, bitter and funny, angry and sarcastic, are exposing the every day musicians brotherhood as it is in real life. Excellent reading !

Janet wasn't kidding when she said " Don't read this book before going to bed". It's hard to sleep while laughing and crying at the same time. Once you start reading you won't be able to put the book down. Some of the stories are hilarious, some are tragic, but all are entertaining. The book provides a good insight into the world of musicians and how silly little things can make or break a career. It tells it like it is, from the people who have been there..

As bad as things may have gone in your music career, you'll find at least one story that tops your worst! Reading this book will make any musician feel a bit better, whether a full-time studio singer or weekend warrior clubdate/wedding band player - because YOU ARE NOT ALONE! My favorite stories are the ones about getting ripped off (which most musicians can relate to) and the one about the songwriter lured to a meeting with a music publisher, only to find out that it was a sales pitch presentation for AMWAY!? And then there's the one about SINGING AT THE FUNERAL...

MY STORY BY FRANCIS THE BIRD is a cute and educational story about a baby bird who falls out of a tree and into the life of woman who takes care of him. The story is told from Francis' perspective and highlights the day-to-day experiences that he and his caretaker share, including his attempts to learn how to fly.

The language is fresh, easy to understand and engaging. Carla Cain's photography adds an additional dimension to this book and the photographs perfectly compliment the unfolding story. Children are sure to be fascinated by Francis' story and the intricately detailed photos. And while they are enrapt in this pleasant story they will be learning a lot of educational information about the early life of birds. Carla Cain plans to author future books featuring other animals and I am sure this collection will ultimately achieve her goal of bringing nature alive for children. Hopefully, as a result of this and future works, she will encourage children to put down the video game controllers, turn off the television and explore the great outdoors.

My Story By Francis The Bird is the true story of a baby sparrow who fell from his nest, and received care from the human girl who found him until he was ready to fly. Told from the little bird's point of view, My Story By Francis The Bird features a full color photograph on every page, showing the sparrow's transformation from a pink, fleshy baby to a fully fledged adult. A heartwarming story of care, tenderness, and hope, My Story By Francis The Bird is very highly recommended reading for children preschool through first grade.

Francis is a fragile baby sparrow that fell from his nest on a spring morning. Through beautiful color photographs, we watch first hand the passage of time beginning with Francis's arrival into the author's life. We watch the small sparrow grow until he "leaves the human's nest." This book serves as a reminder that every creature, human or nonhuman, can flourish and grow with love.

It is obvious that the author remained patient and nurturing as the photographs were taken. These color photographs of the small bird against a soft satin-like background highlight this book's simplicity. I read this one to my 6-year-old daughter last night and many children will echo her words. As I closed the book she asked me, "Daddy, can I bring this to show and tell?"

Excellent job Francis! Tell your assistant Carla C. Cain that we look forward to hearing from you both again! Thank you for reminding me of how one simple, loving action can enhance the lives of the person giving and receiving this wonderful emotion.

I have never seen a children's book like this before! Rather than illustrations, this book tells the story with photographs! My kids and I love to see the transformation of a featherless infant bird into a young adult. It is both an entertaining and educational book with a very touching ending. I would recommend this book to anyone any age; it appeals to both young and old. There is also a lot to see on the book's website. Lots of pictures on this site.

I'm not a big fan of poetry, so I was surprised by how absorbed I have become in reading Ms. Mintzer's work. I find each poem to be a mini experience, and each experience is compelling and intriguing. The author subtly guides the reader to see the deeper meaning in the most commonplace events. After spending time with Natural Selections, I find myself seeing poetry all around me - even in a drop or water or a speck of dust. Thank you, Ms. Mintzer, for opening my eyes.

This book walks you through the streets of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus and helps you to appreciate what family and social and cultural life was like. You also get to walk with the apostle Paul through the streets of Ephesus and Colosse.

But the sections of the book that really opened my eyes was learning about life in Ur of the Chaldees and in Haran where Abram and his family relocated before God called him to leave his father's household to the place where he would show him.

Howard Vos writes in a clear and engaging style that will hold the attention of the pastor and the layperson hungry for more knowledge of the biblical world. I give it my highest recommendation.

Have you ever read the Bible and wondered why a character did or said something a certain way or why certain events took place the way they did? Like, for instance, why did Ruth lay beside Boaz's feet on the threshing floor or why did Matthew become a tax collector, and why was he so despised? Learning the cultural significance of certain things enriches one's Bible study. If you are not one to just read the Bible, but are dedicated to serious and in-depth Bible study, then this book is a must-have. Knowing the backstory of the people in the Bible lands of Mesopotamia, Syria, Egypt, etc., their cultural habits, and the way they lived their daily lives helps to illuminate the scriptures. For example, in the 4th chapter of the Book of John when Jesus has a conversation with the Samaritan woman, we know by the woman's statement that there was tension between Jews and Samaritans for the woman was surprised that Jesus asked her for a drink of water since the "Jews have no dealings with Samaritans." However, the text doesn't go into detail about why this tension exists, but referencing Nelson's Bible Customs and Manners will tell you that because the Samaritans were taken captive by the Assyrians, they intermarried and adopted many pagan beliefs leading to enmity between the Samaritans and the Jews. This book is an invaluable resource for learning not only the customs and manners of certain groups, but it also presents exciting articles about the political landscape, wars and captivity, socio-economic conditions, how different cultures evolved, and the impact all of this had on God's people and His purposes. It is not laid out in dictionary format; it's more encyclopedic and has a wonderful and comprehensive index. Also, the photographs are very useful and very well-placed throughout the book. This book will certainly help to increase your understanding and appreciation of the Bible.

An appreciation of the history, political climate, trends, and just plain way of life of persons and generations of the times of the Bible is important in the understanding of the potence of the main thrust of it. One needs to ensure that he/she is taking everything within context and divine guidance in his/her quest to understand the Bible with a derived main motive of being more of an accurate servant to God.

Although the Bible can be understood by itself in itself through careful and patient study with humility and guidance, this book is - in my opinion - is an adequate assistant. It goes through the history and meanings of customs as well as the politics and rules of the land. It has accurate maps and drawings and even gives evidence based on secular history of biblical content.

If you are a student or considering purchasing a gift for such a student of the Bible - I say that this would be appropriate.

As the leading civilian authority on the U.S. Secret Service (and President Kennedy's interaction with the agency), I was much interested in this book by the late, great Harold Weisberg. Despite a shrill writing style, the man was and is a legend; his work is rightfully seen as some of the very best ever produced on the case. I spent a lot of time with Harold before he passed away and he was without doubt, the very best researcher in the field. All of his books, including "Never Again" should be read by any person who is serious about the JFK Assassination. Weisberg was not part of the research group that tells readers that "every thing is false or faked" like many modern day researchers. Read all of his books first, even if you don't agree with him, you have to respect his work. One last thing; his books don't present theories, only answers and he proves what he writes unlike many authors on the subject.

This book appears to have been written by a man who was very mad at the JAMA article on the assassination. He wasted lots of space repeating and repeating that he had received info through the FOIA. I have not read the JAMA article, but it must have mentioned Weisberg by name to get him this cranked off. He also spent lots of time trying to tie down exactly what Dr. Hume had destroyed. Yet he has no proof that what was destroyed is any different from what Dr. Hume submitted. I found the book a "difficult read" and considered throwing to away as opposed to finishing it.

In yet another triumph of research, Harold Weisberg proves why the critics are slow to attack when they walk past "Old Yeller." The grandfather/watchdog of the JFK community, Weisberg puts time-tested wisdom to the post-Posner world of JFK, revealing new insights into the JAMA claim that supports the pro-Solution position, but in flagrant disregard of the physical evidence. Weisberg makes no qualms about his anger in this book, but the reader all the more appreciates the passion and animation that this brings to this factually solid, well-planned book. To the new and old alike, you WILL learn something here!!

This book was handed to me, by someone in the prayer group that I was a part of at that time. I think everyone who has serious questions about the full gospel, or charismatic christian experience, should read this book, because this is one informed believer that didn't get into extremes after receiving "it"-namely, the operation of one or several of the manifestations, or gifts of the Holy Sprit.

I have only one cavet about this book. Please understand-the author of this book is A PASTOR. Full gospel believers who are Bible informed, know that a pastor in the christian faith, is an office of our faith-and must be called by, and empowered by-God. You can't twist his arm-he gives to whoever, and however he chooses to.

Dennis saw many manifestations of the Holy Spirit in his life, because he was in the office of a pastor. After reading this book, I was somewhat disappointed that I did not see some the same manifestations in my life, especially that of seeing others healed.

God DID choose to let me have a taste, in ministering to a lady, who I had ministered to for 3 years. She wasn't growing, and wasn't attending church regularly, and I felt that I had done all I could do for her if God didn't majorally intervene. I saw her touched as a result of my laying hands on her. So God did let me see it operate in the life of someone not called into the full time ministry.

I will tell you that I did receive the manifestation of devotional tongues. But I will also tell you, that if you are struggling with surreder to God on several issues at the time that you do receive, you will prob not majorally benefit from
this priviledge until you surrender ongoing, known sin.

Please do not judge your spirituality by what God did in this author's life. Let me say-God wants to move through whosoever will-but he does it his way, not yours, and in his time-not yours.

This work is certainly one of the best investigations into the murder of President Kennedy.
It is a new version of his former book 'Conspiracy'.

Although the author admits that he could not find the ultimate truth, he believes that Lee Harvey Oswald was framed by an alliance of anti-Castro militants, the Mafia and members of the CIA. He could not find out if or not Oswald was a low level CIA agent himself. The author believes however that Oswald was used by U.S. intelligence without his knowledge.

The author also proves convincingly that the version of the killing proclaimed by the Warren Commission is untenable.

This book is a real thriller about a diabolic masterstroke. The real protagonists behind the curtain could load all the suspicions on one person, whom they then ordered to be killed. The whole plot was buried by the Warren Commission.

A masterly investigation.

As far as all facets of the JFK Assassination with objectivity, you won't find a finer book than this. Summers is open-minded, yet, cautious, so he isn't a conspiracy theorist or a debunker, In other words he is one great reporter. Clearly, from Dealey Plaza-to-Parkland Hospital-Bethesda Naval Hospital-Mexico City-New Orleans and the secret war against Fidel..there is plenty of tangible evidence in each area for conspiracy. The new material on Mexico City and a death bed confession from one of the well-connected players in the covert apparatus against Castro is featured.

The best single-volume argument for a conspiracy...

This book is a completely revised and updated version of Anthony Summer's classic "Conspiracy", which was published in 1980 following a congressional committee's findings that there was a conspiracy to kill President John F. Kennedy. When it was released "Conspiracy" won rave reviews from such prestigious publications as Newsweek, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, and former Kennedy aides such as Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. and Pierre Salinger praised Summers for his thorough research and sensible approach to the problem. It also won the coveted "Golden Dagger" award as the best "true crime" book of 1980. Although there have been many "pro-conspiracy" books written on the Kennedy assassination, this book is BY FAR the best-written, most reliable, and most persuasive. Summers, a respected investigative reporter for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC), did an exhaustive, years-long investigation into the Kennedy assassination. In this book he presents the various groups in America which had a good reason to try and kill Kennedy in 1963 - the mafia, the anti-Castro forces, rogue government agents, and of course Lee Harvey Oswald himself - and then presents the evidence he found for a conspiracy. Wisely, Summers doesn't advocate any single theory - he simply presents the evidence and leaves it to the reader to decide. The result is easily the best single-volume "pro-conspiracy" tome on the JFK assassination, and if you could only read one "pro-conspiracy" book this should definitely be it. However, there are always two sides to every story - and I would also strongly recommend reading Gerald Posner's "Case Closed" to get the single best "anti-conspiracy" book. After reading "Not In Your Lifetime" and "Case Closed" you will have seen the best and most persuasive arguments for and against a conspiracy to assassinate President Kennedy. Highly Recommended!

This book by Anthony Summers is the best overview available regarding the JFK assassination and the case for conspiracy. Summers comes across as a very objective writer, as well an investigator who made a major effort to track down those who could shed light on the key events. Although believing that a conspiracy existed, and that Oswald was a patsy, he also clearly spells out the evidence, which is quite convincing, that Oswald was also involved in it somehow--given, for example, some lies that Oswald told his questioners after he was arrested on November 22. Summers presents more solid information than just about any other book on the topic. Many witnesses that the Warren Commission ignored are covered in this book. The result is a compelling case that there was a conspiracy in the JFK assassination. This book contains the information that any objective person should be willing to think about before coming to a conclusion about the case. If you bypass this book, you will likely miss some key information required to make a reasoned judgement about what happened in Dallas that day.

I rate this book 5 stars and recommend it highly to both novice and advance numerologists. I was particulary impressed with Chapter 23 on world events. Particularly the century cycle, major cycle and directive cycle. I personally found it very enlightening.

Her knowledge concerning the meaning of the essence shown on the table of events was on the money! I was amazed at the periodicity that it was able to show in the charts that I worked with.. Truly fantastic...

This book is full of meat. Well written, for the most part, one can spend days exploring just one's own information. Proper cautions are given, and instant results are easily had. I am very impressed. You can buy other numerology books that may give slightly different readings, but this one covers more territory than ANY other.

I've been doing numerology for more than 15 years and am so thankful that I picked this book up first. It is the most nonjudgmental and verifiabliy accurate form of numerology I've found to date, and I use her work as my only source now. As a twin born 1 min. from my sister, only numerology told the difference between us, and so accurately that I was hooked. Dr. Juno Jordan and her association of numerologists spent 25 years perfecting it. Start here!

Excellent book on numerology. If you're interested in studying numerology , this is the book you want. Received it as a gift from my daughter in 1977. I had never been interested in numerology, but from 1977 until the present it has become my special "hobby". I say hobby, however it is more than that, I do believe it is a tool for understanding people. A must read if you like numerology.

Juno Jordan was an original. As the daughter of a well-known numerologist, Ms. Jordan definitely had this in her blood. This book is one to have in your collection if you intend to seriously study numerology. Jordan is concise and clear in every chapter. I highly recommend this to all students of numerology, both for beginners and more experienced students.
