The ghosts dance in the grave yard at night in this type of story.
The witches curse children and tigers eat the mean school teachers.
The stories told at campfires to scare green horns
are given new like like headless horsemen.
Some are pretty good, others I've read before in other anthologies
where sci fi meets fantasy.
I'd probably give it as better rating as these are some classics,
but I just don't like this sort of mythology.
The troll under the bridge is one of the oldest sort
of stories.

Well, the cover and the title looked really good, so I bought it expecting another fast-paced story, instead I was hit for a bore of bores. The book focuses on selena and her cousin jada. Jada's a villain and wants to be a superhero and Selena's the superhero, Shadow girl, doesn't want to be. Oops. You're asleep aren't you? The bottom line- save the money

I BARELY made it through this book without sleeping.....IT was very tiring, and not in one bit scary. It was actually pretty STUPID. I don't think R.L. Stine put any thought process while writing this one.........I recommend this book for people who want to get bored out of their mind. For a summary, read the book description.

The cover looks really cool. And that's the best part. It was frustrating. I was expecting a lot more; it was a good idea. But it turned out terribly. And the ending was ridiculous. They never even explained what powers Shadow Girl had. I don't recommend this one.

Jovial Bob seemed to have the right idea when put together his computer joke book, but I think something got lost somewhere along the way. I am a big fan of any kind of joke book, and there are some bright spots in Bob's collection, but I found that the material here made me smile more than laugh. Also, I felt that the material could have been arranged better--more cohesively. All in all, a pleasant distraction, but not bust a gut funny.

The read one page and then make a decision format makes it difficult to develop anything beyond the most trivial of story lines.

This book is one of those where you turn to different pages based on the decision you make. While this writing strategy can work, in this case it does not. The story itself is not all that interesting; the plot is a very weak example of a mad scientist who develops a time machine. As the reader, you are the main character and you can either go forward or backwards in time. Once you arrive at your destination, the circumstances are often absurd. There is a mad emperor who makes people sit down and attempt to lay eggs and a prince who fights duels to the death and never loses because he is the prince. When you are forced to duel with the prince, you teach him tic-tac-toe and that saves your life. The game then becomes the greatest craze; everyone in the kingdom starts to play it incessantly.
From the above, it should be clear that there are multiple plots, none of which is well developed or even organized. I found it difficult to read through the book, the read one page and then make a decision format makes it nearly impossible to develop anything other than the most trivial and simplistic story lines.
