this book was a great suspense and the title drew me in. Lindy is so naive and shows it through out the book. for one an internet dating service is dangerous and two why go out with four guys in the first place. i say without the help of her friends she wouldn't have been in the predicament that she was in,peer pressure can get you in trouble is what R.L Stine proved. by going out with them didn't keep her in danger,no the so called friend that inspired the whirlwind of drama to occur couldn't seem to let go of her by involving her in the acts of a crazed friend who sees Lindy trying to take her boyfriend away from her.the only good thing that came out of it was that Lindy got a great guy named Colin who was one of the guys from the internet dating.so it just goes to show how being "eye candy" can be a big disappointment.

When I first bought this book I was excited because R.L. Stine's books are good I really liked the synopis but when I got the book it was really juvenile I thought it was young adult it was more junior high super dumb and just plain foolish. Who is going to keep chatting with someone bc they are scared they are going to get them. Maybe she should have got the police involed instead of her ex's boyfriend friend who had a crush on her.If you want to read an adult book about adult themes this is not the right book. Fear Street series is more adult than this.
So Good! A great read!

I loved R.L. Stine's books as a young adult and I was jumping up and down, like a five year old with a new toy, in the isle at the Barnes and Noble when I saw this book in the Adult nonfiction section. I had to stop and think for a moment and ask myself if maybe they were put in the wrong place.
After the excitment died down a little I read the back of the book and was so releaved to find that the main character was a girl in my age range. I have a hard time finding books when I go to the story because all of the main female leads are 40 year old married woman with children. I liked that Lindy was closer to my age and was dealing with some things that I might be able to relate too.
I read the book in a day and a half and I loved it. It was suspensful and engaging. I gave it to my 17 year old sister to read and she is loving it too, and she didnt like R.L. Stine when we were younger.
To wrap it up, I would reccomend this book to anyone... it was amazingly awesome and totally different than his young adult novels.

Lindy is a beautiful young woman but she is having a hard time meeting the right guy. A friend convinces her to try an Internet matching service. Lindy agrees and the friend writes a profile with the name Eye Candy. Well, Lindy meets three men located by the service and meets one more while waiting for a date. She gives each a chance.
No sooner does Lindy begin her dating than she starts to get threatening messages. Basically they say she better do as she is told or else she will be killed. She doesn't know which one of the guys it is so she finds herself going out with them and doing what they say. Add in her friend's guy who starts to hit on her and a policeman who doesn't seem completely on the level and soon there are too many suspects.
A nice simple thriller with plenty of twists. It is easy to follow with plenty of suspects but it really keeps the reader guessing. It always seems like there are always at least two guys who are top suspects. But the ending is fresh and well done. Short chapters (normal for this author) keep the action moving quickly and the reader finds themself pushing forward to see what happens next. Definitely a fun read.

This is the first book of the Fear Street series, and it's really pretty good. Fear Street is a series about scary and/or supernatural events that happen to teenagers in a ficitional town called Shadyside. In this book, an athletic gymnast falls for a new girls in school. She's really cute, and different in an old fashioned kind of way. However, when he tries to find her outside of school, he gets told she doesn't exist. What's going on? Is she a ghost? Is she a liar? This has a pretty good twist ending and gives a good taste of future books in the series. Pulitizer material it's not, but for young teens, or anyone wanting a quick thrilling read, this suits the bill just fine.

Cory Brooks has a crush on Anna Corwin, the new girl in school. She's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. But there's something not quite right about Anna. She always seems to be disappearing. She wears old clothes. And the newspaper says she's dead. Cory's friend Lisa Blume thinks that Anna is a ghost. If she's right, Cory might be the next person in Shadyside to be dead.
This is the first Fear Street book ever. I didn't really like it. R.L. Stine definitely improved on the rest of the series. Anyway, some parts of the book were interesting. The prologue really wants to make you read the book. But once you get to the end, you realize that the prologue completely threw you off to the big surprise.
Make sure to look for Cory, Lisa, and Cory's friend David making guest appearances in other Fear Street books. Two of them are 'Missing' and 'Broken Hearts.'

Cara and Mark move a lot. They've just recently moved to a house on Fear Street in Shadyside. They have made very few friends. Mark has a girlfriend named Gena. Mark's parents don't want Mark to see Gena but have no reason why. Cara and Mark's parents weren't home yet but they didn't worry because they usually work late. They're parents install computers at Cranford Industries. They were having a small party with all of their friends when a policeman came to the door. Cara answered the door. He said that his name was Captain Farraday. He said that he was investigating a burglary a few houses down and was curious if they saw anything strange or suspicious. She told him she didn't because they were new in the neighborhood. He gave her his card and told her to call if she had any problems. So she took it and he left. When everyone left the party they started to clean up. They were wondering why their parents hadn't called to let them know they were staying out late. They went to the phone to call their parents and found out that the phone was dead. Then they heard footsteps above their head. They heard the footsteps get closer. Then they saw what made the footsteps. It was just their older cousin Roger. He was boarding in their house for a while. Mark and Cara went into their parents' bedroom to look for a note, or something to let them know that they're parents had stayed out late. They didn't find a note. Then they saw something behind a curtain. Mark went over to see what it was. It was Roger hiding in the room. He said that he was looking for a note just like they were. He said that he heard a sound and looked out the window to see what it was. Then he left to his room. Mark and Cara thought he seemed a little suspicious but thought he was telling the truth. They found a mysterious carved monkey with rhinestones for eyes in the room. They found it interesting but left it in the room. Then they were tired and went to bed. On the middle of the night Mark was still awake so he went over to the window to see if his parents car was in the driveway but it wasn't. Then he saw Roger coming out of the house and walking over to a gray van sitting on the side of the road. Mark decided not to wake Cara. He thought he should snoop around Roger's room while he was gone because he has been acting very strange lately. Mark was halfway up the stairs when roger came up behind him and asked him what he was doing up. He said that he was going to the bathroom and asked why Roger was up. He lied and said that he was going for a walk. The next morning Mark woke up and found the carved monkey on his dresser but he didn't remember bringing it into his bedroom the night before. He told Cara about what happened the night before. They decided to confront him. They went to his room but he wasn't home so they decided to look around. They didn't find much but they did find that although he said he was studying he had no notes and it looked like his stuff was never used. They searched around a little longer and found a loaded pistol in his underwear drawer. Mark and Cara went to their neighbor's house to call their parents' work number but they weren't there. So they decided to go to Cranford Industries to see if they were there. They opened the garage and found that the car their parents drove to work was still there. They thought that maybe their parents got a ride to work that day. So they drove to Cranford Industries. After going through a lot of moving around, they got into an office where a girl was to help them. They told her that they were looking for their parents and that they were computer installers. They gave her their parents' names and she looked them up. The computer said they didn't work there. So they were transferred to another guy named Mr. Marcus who looked up their name and said their parents didn't work there and never had...

This book started okay, but I didn't really liked the ending that much. In one chapter the person telling the story is the guy and in another chapter the girl is telling the story. You have to keep up on what was the last thing they did. I would not recommend you reading this book, but you can read it if you like books with weird endings.

This book isn't one of mr.stine's best books in the series, but it is still one you can enjoy. it wasn't really too scary either. this book is about two friends erin and marty. Marty's dad works for shocker studios and he opens the new the schocker studios theme park ride. he wants Erin and Mary to be the first one's to ride the tram. The two kids are thrilled about being the first one's to ride it. Once there on the ride things are very scary and seem to be a little to realistic. I won't say what happens when there on the ride if u want to read this book, but to me i thought the scares could have been a little more scarier and the ending to me was a little poor. i remember watching the tv episode for this when i was little and it had a much better ending on the episode than the book. Overall this book wasn't the best, but if you don't have anything else to read you should read this book if you have it because it is still enjoyable. thanks for reading my review.

This book is about two kids that go to test out a tour ride made by one ofone of the kid's father. They seem like they like the tour until the cart break in the tunnel. A gigantic insect comes and tries to attack them. But the kid sees that the cart starts working and they hop on and escape. They look like they're safe but they have more problems on the way. When they leave they end up in an intersection. There is a graveyard there and they go in. Zombies popped out of the ground and grabbed the kids. They eventually get loose from the hands and escape. But their cart left with almost full load of zombies. They follow it and endup in a hall. The boy gets strucken by electricty and the boy falls to the ground. The girl comes running over to try to help the boy. Is the boy dead or still alive?
I liked this book the most of it from the start until the middle. When it started to end it got a little boring.Thelast part was when the boy gets strucken by electricity and just falls. "The boy gets strucken by electricity and falls to the ground."
I disliked this book because of the ending when the kids were robots. "The boys fell and was malfunctioning.
My favorite part of the book was when the zombies grabbed the kids. It was my favorite because in my mind it was mini action. My least favorite part of my book as was when i found out the kids were just robots.

On the whole, this book was about par for a Goosebumps book, but the ending was just completely unrealistic. Basically, some kids go on the tour of this theme park which is supposed to be scary like the movies it's based on, but things go awry and it looks like they die in the end. Then, dun dun dunnnn!!!!, it turns out they were robots, built by the creator of the park, to test it out. Now, it's one thing to build a robotic Werwolf, or zombie, that, during a brief, scripted encounter at a themepark, could seem realistic and scary. But these are robotic children. Robotic children who not only act completely autonomously, but are completely unaware that they are even robots. What sane man develops the technology to build perfect mechanical replicas of human beings, and then proceeds to build a theme park with them? Logic dictates that he either start duplicating real people, replace them with robots and manipulate the course of world events in his favor, cementing his eventual rule as an iron-fisted, tyrannical dictator whose every command is enforced by an unquestioning army of perfect killing machines, or that he start selling them as robotic slaves until eventually they rise up, kill us all and form a utopian robot society. Either of these storylines would have scared me much more.

Gabe, a boy on vacation in Cairo, Egypt with is parents (who are there on business) is looking forward to spending some time with his Uncle Ben who lives in Cairo and works at the Great Pyramid. When his parents suddenly receive a call, Gabe finds he's not going to see the pyramid OR his Uncle and he's not happy about that. With a bit of finagling Uncle Ben agrees to let Gabe stay with him for a couple of weeks while his parents are in Alexandria...the catch, Gabe's cousin (and nemesis...as much as a kid has a nemesis) Sari is also visiting and determined to show Gabe up at every opportunity. After a night alone and a bit of a scare due to a practical joke, Gabe, Sari and Uncle Ben are off to the pyramid where they meet Uncle Ben's workers and hear all about a "curse" that one of the workers feels has been unleashed because they've defiled the tomb. Everyone seems to laugh it off...but is there something to this curse? Ultimately, it is this competitive nature between them that leads to pranks and constant "one-upping" with exploring the Pyramid dig site that ultimately gets reveals some strange and unusual goings on in the Pyramid.
The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb is the fifth book in the Goosebumps series and has some genuine scares, creepy atmosphere, and actual danger (compared to other books I've read in this series), but they are "junior" scares, not as fleshed out or graphic as they might be. This is an easy, entertaining read for kids ages 8-12, probably best suited for those about 8-10 years old...older kids will probably find the plot and writing too simple to really be enjoyable or believable. I give it four stars and would recommend it as good "lite-horror" for kids.

This was the first book i ever read from ''The Nightmare Room'', and i can say that its pretty good. I didint even like horror books when i got it, but when i started reading it, it just changed my life. After this book i started getting more interested in other books, and The Nightmare Room turned out to be my favorite collection of books ever. Today im still a fanatic for these books, and i really recommend you get this book for you or your son or daughter over the age of 9. This book has an interesting story of Horror and Suspense.

This is the fifth book in the Nightmare Room Series by R.L. Stein and in this volume we meet Alex Smith, student, son, friend and most importantly a boy who likes things to be exciting...and of course he likes to bet, he'll be five bucks on just about anything. The problem is that he LOVES to bet how something is going to turn out but he's rarely EVER right, in fact, he's constantly losing to Tessa Wayne (his nemesis) despite his best friends Chip and Shawn warning him to stop before he goes too far.
As we join the story, Alex bets Tessa that his diary for extra credit in English class will be more exciting than hers (and get a better grade). She's the better student and ALWAYS wins the bets...so the contest is on. He rushes home and finds that his mother has gotten him an old desk...just what he needs; even better he discovers there's an old blank diary in one of the drawers. He sets it aside...but when he comes back to it later, there is an entry! It's in HIS handwriting and it tells him the winner of the next day's basketball game and other details that he just KNOWS he can win bets with...and he does. This diary is a dream come true...or is it? Initially he rushes upstairs each night after dinner to find out what's going to happen and what he can bet on or use to his advantage...but pretty soon the diary is giving out cryptic details like him getting hit by a car and other dangerous and outrageous things...and even more frightening, they start to come true!
Will he live to read another entry? You'll have to read to find out what special terror the Nightmare Room has in store for Alex and I bet he's not going to like it! As with others in this series, there is a twist at the end which has a Twilight Zone/Outer Limits for kids feel to it that is just about perfect for this type of story! Of the five I've read so far, this is probably the best especially if the reader is able to suspend belief adequately and really imagine what it would feel like if this were happening to them. The events themselves, as written seem a bit hokey, but when taken at face value would be genuinely frightening and bewildering. The twist at the end is the kind that makes you kind of do a double take and it strikes me as the type of ending for a book where you'd like to have a bunch of your friends reading the same book so you could talk about and speculate on what the ending REALLY meant.
Overall, this book like most of Stine's writing is short on the character development...all of them are pretty much caricatures of personality types and the plot moves forward a very quick pace which sometimes leaves the reader wanting for more details than are there. In the end, they are entertaining above anything else and Dear Diary, I'm Dead leaves the reader with much to discuss if he or she is reading this with friends or for a class discussion. Additionally, like most of the other books it has a moral...it's twisted around and morbid, but it's there and gives the story an additional layer for the reader to enjoy. I give it three stars; it's entertaining, engaging and genuinely creepy but not great literature.

This book is about a kid named Alex Smith who finds a diary in an old desk. Later Alex finds that all of the entries were for the next day. They are also in his handwriting but he didn't do it. Soon Alex realizes that the diary is never wrong. And it doesn't always predict good things.
I think the theme is do not trust what everyone tells you. If Alex would not have trusted the diary, the bad things would not have happened. I like hat Alex likes to bet, but I don't think he should take it so far. My only question is why it started all over again at the end. I think that horror fans would like this book because of the semi-scary events. The ending was not well written, and it wasn't very good.

I liked this book so much I couldn't put it down. I liked it because it is about two different years. The years were 1995 and 1698. In the year of 1995 is about a boy named Bryan and is obsessed with the white Cataluna Sports car. In the year of 1698 is about a girl named Catherine that was born under the evil moon and is bad luck to the town. I also like it because there is something different about the car and about Catherine and the both don't know it.
Catherine wants to get revenge on people. In the year of 1995 Bryan wants to buy a car and he will steal, maybe even kill for it. It's like the car has some kind of power over him. What is going to happen to Bryan and Catherine next?
The kind of people how will like this book is people who like R.L. Stine books. If you like betrayal, mysteries, obsession, and some love. If you don't understand it then you have to get the next book called The Cataluna Chronicles Book #2 The Dark Secret. It will help you understand it better. If you have never read R.L. Stine then you may just fall in love with it.

I thought that the Cataluna Chronicles was not the best book. But was a O.K, but a little difficult to understand. The book had two parts from the 1800's to the 1990's.But after you thought about the book it made some sense. So that is why I did not really understand the book until I finished it and thought about it.

Do you like strange and horrifying books? If you do I have the book for you. It is a great book written by R.L. Stine. It is called The Cataluna Chronicles, The Evil Moon. It starts in 1698, in West Hampshire Colony and then it switches back and forth with 1995, in Shadyside. It is a good book and after you read it you have two more parts to the story.
It starts out in a small West Hampshire Colony in 1698. Catherine is a teenaged girl and her family is a little poor. She is a big trouble maker and always gets into some type of trouble. Everyone in the colony hates her because they say she was born under an evil moon. She soon gets into some trouble and finds out a lot of bad stuff, like she finds out how her real mom is. But that is all I can tell you. Then you end up in 1995 in Shadyside. There you meet Bryan and he wants to buy a car. He gets a job but he loses it. He starts a new job but he was not making enough money. He steals it. He gets enough and when he goes to bye the car something goes wrong. If you are interested, then find it and read The Cataluna Chronicles.
I recommend this book for kids who have an interest in scary and ghostly books and teenagers. I don't know if many adults would like it. It is a really good book so my advice to you is to sit down and read it.

i feel like i could defintely relate a little to Catherine Hatchett. She is different like I am. But she is different in a special way. This book switches places from 1698 to 1995. Until the story is told in how Catherine killed William's father and got away with it! And it surprised me a lot when I read the part about Bryan and how all he could care about was the car. He even beat up his best friend to get Cataluna. But in the end he dies and Misty, his girlfriend is upset. If you read the evil moon, then try reading the dark secret.

Well, this is definately one of the strangest of Stine's books. I mean, a CAR? But it was still a pretty good book. I found it a bit annoying the way it kept switching back from the 1800's to the 1900's.

Kenny Klien, Debra Lake, Ty Sullivan, and Dana Palmer are at day camp, but for Kenny Klien, things just keep wierder and weirder, like Vincent, the kid who always wore a mask, Graydon, the nasty little boy who is determined to anger everyone, and Melly, the beautiful arts and crafts counselor, only she seems to turn up missing every once in a while. But his girlfired, Jade Feldman won't find out about Melly unles Dana tells her. And to add to that, someone in camp is trying to kill him. And the doomed class is the last thing from his mind... I thought is was an okay story. It was way better than the first seniors book. It was different from all the other Fear Street books. Death Count: 1, Seniors Dead: None. Can't wait for Graduation day!

Night Games never reached any great heights and I don't think many readers will be satisfied with the weak ending of what was a very predictable novel and not at all the high quality of the majority of Stine's work.
In Night Games a gang of kids run into a former friend they haven't seen for a year. He invites them to accompany him on his night games of vandalism and terrifying locals. Being losers these kids readily agree. They all hate their math teacher Mr Crowell so target him for frequent night games, justifying it as vengeance for the way he treats them. Diane the main narrator of the story starts to question if Cromwell deserves the increasing severity of their tormenting until too late she realises just how deadly serious some of the gang want vengeance.
Read one of Stine's other books instead.

Somehow, i really enjoyed this book. this book isn't scary at all, so if your looking for something really scary to read don't read this one. I just thought that this book was sort of fun. I went to the library one day to look at goosebumps, b/c I love them. I saw this book and it caught my attention because of the cover. I wasn't going to get it b/c the cover looked a little silly. before i left i thought what the heck, it looked interesting and i wanted to see if it was any good. Even though it wasn't one bit scary and the idea of the book is a little stupid it is still entertaining to read if your bored. this book is stupid,it's enjoyable. read if you want.

The bad news for readers is that this book isn't scary at all. I don't know if it was meant to be, but if you're looking for scares this isn't the one to read. The good news is that the main character's time as a bee is nicely developed, and the story moves along quickly, even if it's fairly bizzare. I did feel sympathy for the main character and his awkwardness, so good character development there.
An offbeat entry in the Goosebumps series. More of a borrow from a local library.

Although its so crappy its good for a laugh. such as in the book it says bees eat honey when we all know they DONT.
In close all i have to say is R.L stines why i am afraid of bees
is as bad as R.Ls face

Eye Candy, another great read by author R.L. Stine, is as scary as it is precisely because it's plausible. Lindy and her room mates decide that she should put an ad on an Internet dating site. Her friend titles it "Eye Candy," and before she can think, guys start to respond to her. She gets a phone message telling her "Don't say no, Lindy. Don't ever say no to me!" And so the conflict: she must go out with all the guys, even the boring one, so that she doesn't accidentally disobey the caller's threat. Soon, things go from bad to worse. Which guy is threatening her? Who, if anyone, can she trust? These questions will all be answered in Eye Candy!
